Although beautiful and kind, Aerith hides a mysterious power that eventually becomes vital to the Planet's survival. She
takes interest in developing the love triangle between Cloud, Tifa, and herself. When she was young her mother died
unexpectedly, and she was found by Elmyra, who looked after her in Midgar. She has spent most of her life evading the Shinra,
who seem very interested in her unusual abilities.

In battle she is quite weak physically, but she is a good user of magic, and her Limit Breaks prove most useful in times of
need.

Aerith's Limit Breaks

Lv.1-1 Healing Wind: Aerith calls forth a green sparkling wind to heal a medium amount of HP to the whole party.

Lv.1-2 Seal Evil: Aerith casts a spell on all enemies, causing them to suffer Stop and Silence.

Lv.2-1 Breath of Earth: Aerith casts a blue sparkling light around all allies, curing them of any abnormal status.

Lv.2-2 Fury Brand: Aerith induces her allies with anger, causing their Limit Bars to completely fill.

Lv.3-1 Planet Protector: Aerith casts a golden aura that surrounds all allies, making them temporarily invincible.

Lv.3-2 Pulse of Life: Aerith fully revives all allies, as well as removing all abnormal statuses, and recovering full HP and MP to all.

Lv.4-1 Great Gospel: It begins to rain as Aerith call upon three angels that descend from the heavens. A celestial light
surrounds the allies as they are fully revived, recovered, cured, and made invincible for a brief period of time.

In order to obtain Great Gospel you need to have completed the game as far as the Temple of the Ancients. Go to Junon using
the ferry and the buggy, and locate a small cavern in a rock face on the other side of the river. Inside this cavern is a
sleeping man. When you have fought a number of battles where the last two digits are the same, e.g. 166, 1088, 5611, he will
either give a piece of Mythril or a Bolt Ring. If you receive the Bolt Ring then continue fighting until the next time the
last two digits are the same. Once you have the piece of Mythril go the house on the peninsular of Gongada. Give the man
there the Mythril, and he will offer to let you open a small box upstairs, which contains Great Gospel, or the large box
downstairs, which contains a Gold Armlet. I recommend choosing the smaller of these boxes.

b) Barret Wallace

Age: 35
Height: 6'4"
Sex: Male
Birthday: December 15th
Birthplace: Corel Village
Job: Founder and Leader of AVALANCHE
Weapon: Gun Arm

After losing his wife in an incident involving the Shinra some years ago, Barret has sworn vengeance against them. With the
help of AVALANCHE, his underground resistance force, he attempts to halt the use of Mako power in Midgar by destroying the
reactors that power the city. He recruits Cloud to help him on his first mission, and he has no idea that his personal feud
with the Shinra will escalate into something much more sinister.

In battle he tends to use long-range weapons, enabling him to battle from the back row. This means he is very good
defensively as well as offensively, and he relies on physical strength much more so then magic.

c) Cait Sith

Age: Unknown
Height: 3'3"
Sex: Male
Birthday: Unknown
Birthplace: Unknown

Cait Sith rides around on the back of a huge stuffed Mog he magically brought to life. He forces himself into the party
during a visit to the Gold Saucer so he can gain some companionship, which he has been lacking due to his small amount
of self-confidence. He seems trustworthy to begin with, but he hides his true identity from the group. It is rumoured he has
some affiliation with the Shinra, but no one is certain.
In battle he is quite strong, and he is well balanced in the use of magic, as well as fighting physically. His high HP is very

In this guide I will give you the background to Chocobos, a step-by-step method of obtaining the much sought after Gold Chocobo, as well as the secrets you can find using Chocobos.

Contents:

a) The history of Chocobos
b) The purpose of Chocobos
c) Chocobo Locations
d) Preparations for Chocobo Breeding
e) Breeding a Gold Chocobo
f) Chocobo Secrets
g) Thanks, Credits, etc

a) The history of Chocobos

Chocobos are the large bird-like animals that have been in the Final Fantasy series since I can remember. They made their debut in Final Fantasy II, and were then used as a form of transport. Their importance has varied throughout the games, sometimes being a necessity, and sometimes just being a side-quest to pass the time away. No matter how hard you try to ignore them though, they will always be there. The main
attraction players have had to Chocobos is their cuteness, from their looks to their "kweh" sound, and this is what has made them so popular, even so far as to have established their own cult following (of which, I hasten to add, I am not a part of).

b) The purpose of Chocobos

The purpose of Chocobos in Final Fantasy VII is to provide you with a very entertaining side-quest for you to complete whilst you wait for the final battle in the Northern Crater with Sephiroth. The sense of fulfilment once you have successfully obtained the Gold Chocobo is great, and the prizes you can find for doing so are even greater, but more on those later.

In Final Fantasy VII Chocobos come in five colours; yellow, green, blue, black, and gold, and each have their own special abilities. The yellow Chocobo can only cross land, the green Chocobo can cross land and mountains, the blue Chocobo can cross land and shallow water, the black Chocobo can cross land, mountains, and shallow water, but the gold chocobo can traverse any kind of terrain, and this is what makes it such a
prestigious goal to aim for.

c) Chocobo Locations

There are many different Chocobo tracks where you can catch Chocobos throughout the world, but the quality of them varies greatly, depending on the location.

Chocobo Ranch Area: There are two sets of tracks south of the ranch, and one to the north.
Quality: Poor / Weak

Junon Area: There are two sets of tracks on one of the peninsular south of Fort Condor.
Quality: Poor / Fair

Gold Saucer Area: There are three sets of tracks to the southeast of the Gold Saucer Desert.
Quality: Average / Good

Rocket Town Area: There are two sets of tracks quite a way northwest of Rocket Town.
Quality: Good / Great

Wutai Area: There are two sets of tracks south of Wutai.
Quality: Average / Fair

Mideel Area: There are two sets of tracks west of Mideel.
Quality: Great / Fair

Icicle Inn Area: There are two sets of tracks slightly southwest of the Icicle Inn.
Quality: Weak / Wonderful

d) Preparations for Chocobo Breeding

In order to begin catching Chocobos so you can breed them, you will need the following things:

1) Chocobo Lure Materia: Purchased from Chocobo Billy on Disc 1 for 2,000 gil, or found on the Chocobo Ranch on Discs 2 and 3.

2) Six Stables: Purchased from Chocobo Bill for 10,000 gil each.

3) Two Carob Nuts: Can be stolen from Vladorakos (red dinosaur creature) near Bone Village, or choose the first ??????? prize (the one that costs 300 GP) at the Wonder Square in the Gold Saucer

4) One Zeio Nut: Can be stolen from a Goblin. These are found on Goblin Island, which is due east of Bone Village.

5) Five Mimmet Greens: Can be bought from Chocobo Billy for 1,500 gil. You need these to stop the Chocobo from running during battle.

e) Breeding a Gold Chocobo

For some people this can take weeks, but if you follow all these steps it should only take about 4 hours.

1) Capture one male and one female Great Chocobo from Mideel, and one male and one female Good Chocobo from the Gold Saucer Area. Place them in four of your 6 stables. Go to the Chocobo Sage (north of Bone Village) and buy 80 Sylkis Greens. Go back to the stables and feed each Chocobo 20 Sylkis Greens. Go to the Gold Saucer and go to the Chocobo Square. Talk to Ester and choose one of your Chocobos to race with. After 3 races it will move up to a B rank, and a further 5 races will move it up into A rank. Repeat this process with the other 3 Chocobos. If they are not performing too well then feed them more Sylkis Greens. Once all four Chocobos have an A rank, return to the stables and save your game.

2) Talk to Chocobo Billy and chose to mate the male Great with the female Good, and chose to give them a Carob Nut. They should produce a Blue Chocobo. Write down the sex of the new Blue Chocobo, and go out of the ranch and save again. Go back into the ranch and talk to Chocobo Billy again, but this time choose to mate the male Good with the female Great, and give them a Carob Nut. You should get a Green Chocobo. You need to make sure that the sex of the Green Chocobo is not the same as the Blue Chocobo. If it is, then reset the game and try again. After you have got both a Blue and a Green Chocobo of opposite sexes, you can release the four yellow Chocobos. Buy some more Sylkis Greens from the Chocobo Sage and feed them to your Green and Blue Chocobos. Return to the Gold Saucer and race the Blue and Green Chocobos up to an A rank. Once they are at an A rank, return to the stables and save your game.

3) Go inside, talk to Chocobo Billy, choose to mate the Blue and the Green Chocobos with a Carob Nut, and they should produce a Black Chocobo. If they do, then save your game. If they don't, then reset and try again. Once you have a Black Chocobo you need to catch a yellow Wonderful Chocobo of the opposite sex. Go to the Icicle Inn area and capture as many Chocobos as you can, as the Wonderful ones are quite rare. Once you have a
Black and a Wonderful Chocobo feed them Sylkis Greens and raise them both to an A rank. Go back to the Chocobo Ranch and save your game.

4) Is this starting to look familiar? Go inside, talk to Chocobo Billy, chose to mate the Black Chocobo with the Wonderful Chocobo, but this time give them the Zeio Nut. They should produce a Gold Chocobo, and if all the parent Chocobos you've used so far have been fed with Sylkis Greens and raised to an A rank, it should have a speed of between 190 and 210
km/h, and should have over 1,500 stamina. I recommend now that you save your game again, just in case something happens.

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but you don't actually have to breed a Gold Chocobo. On Disc 3 you can defeat the Ruby WEAPON in the Gold Saucer Desert and receive the Desert Rose. You can then trade the Desert Rose with the traveller in Kalm for a Gold Chocobo. It doesn't have the amazing racing abilities of one that you bred yourself, but it can access all the secret areas listed below.

f) Chocobo Secrets

Once you have a Gold Chocobo you can ride it to many secret places and obtain some quite extraordinary Materia.

Knights Of The Round: Found in a cavern on an uncharted island in the northeast corner of the map. This is the Ultimate Summon Materia, and can quite easily take off almost 130,000 HP from an enemy. It costs a hefty 250 MP to cast though.

Mime: Found in a cavern on one of the peninsulas on the Wutai continent.
This Command Materia allows you to mimic the action that was performed immediately before, and this includes Limit Breaks!

Quadra Magic: Found in a cavern on one of the peninsulas on the Mideel continent. This Support Materia allows the paired Magic or Summon to be
cast four times in a row, providing you have sufficient MP.

HP <-> MP: Found in a cavern in a rock face near the entrance
to the Corel Reactor. This Independent Materia switches the maximum HP and MP values. For example, 6,000 HP and 255 MP would go to 255 HP and 6,000
MP.

Chocobo Racing at the Gold Saucer

Some of the prizes at the Chocobo Square are very useful, especially some of the Materia. Once you reach A rank you can receive:

Magic Counter: This Support Materia counters with the paired Materia if you suffer damage from a magic spell.

Sneak Attack: This Support Materia automatically casts the paired Materia at the beginning of battle.

Enemy Away: This Independent Materia reduces the number of random battles you encounter.

Cat's Bell: This Accessory regenerates the wearer's HP as you walk.

Choco Bracelet: This Armlet gives you four unlinked slots, and quite poor defences.

Precious Watch: This Armlet gives you eight unlinked slots, but absolutely no defence at all.

You will receive all of these items at once if you manage to win 10 races in S rank. This is much easier to do if you have a Gold Chocobo.
