Retro Game Walkthroughs for Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation)
Submitted By: El Pinko
Final Fantasy seven. The first ever Final fantasy Sony got, and in my opinion the best, because of its story and tense challenging battles. I know this is a little late, but people still play this game, so here?s Garlic breads guide to all those boss?s.

Boss 1: Guard scorpion To beat this easily is to have Barret using his machine gun and cloud using bolt magic. When the scorpion raises his tail don?t attack him as his counter attack does serious damage, instead use this as an opportunity to heal you pair.

Boss 2: Air buster This boss despite looking scary isn?t that tough at all. Simply use bolt magic and limit breaks to finish him quickly. I would recommend having Tifa as your party healer and only letting her attack when she has her limit break.

Boss 3: Mutant Fire is this beasts weakness so cast plenty of it. Also be ready to rely on Aires for her healing wind limit break, as this will get you all out of a mess. Clouds cross-slash will also come in handy hear if you have it.

Boss 4: Reno Another boss with a weakness for fire, so cast away at him. When he casts pyramid on a member of your party attack them to disable it (note that if everyone is pyramided then it will be game over) fall back on your limits a lot here, and make sure you?ve got plenty of potions handy.

Boss 5: Jenova specimen A easy boss, just use your fire materia to destroy him, and if you?ve got Tifa in your party use her roulet limit break to render mass amounts of damage at once

Boss 6: Hundred gunner/Heli-gunner As with any robot, bolt is there weakness so be sure to have plenty of MP and cast like crazy. Use Aries?s healing wind to keep your parties health high and have barret with you as he can use his attack mode to hurt the enemy (unlike everyone else)

Boss 6.5: Rufus I call this 6.5 as it immediately follows the last battle so may be classed as one boss. Rufus has a dog pet, use thunder to kill it, save your limit breaks for Rufus and have plenty of potions at hand

Boss 7: Armoured tank Right, forget the fun you just had in the bike chase as this boss means business. Bolt is his weakness but be sure to have potions at hand. Limits also do great damage to this boss, especially Tifa?s roulet.

Boss 8: Bottomswell Only elements (excluding earth) hurt this boss, so have plenty of MP to throw around. Limits also affect this guy, so keep using them at every available chance. Be sure to have a healer in the party as this monster can do massive amounts of damage with single attacks. If it cast white sphere its just like pyramid (Reno, boss 4) attack it and it?ll go.

Boss 9: Jenova-birth Just attack this thing, because magic has the same affect and costs MP. Use your summon as this will do plenty of damage. This is a big battle as the boss has a whopping 4000hp, so make sure you?ve got enough potions to last a long battle. Using limits that come to you will speed up the death of this creature.

Boss 10: Dyne This is a one on one between Barret and Dyne, but don?t worry if you don?t use Barret, just give him the clear advantage, equip him with any summons you have and cure material, then the battle should be over fairly quickly.

Boss 11: Gi attack Well there?s to ways to beat this, the hard way, and the Garlic bread way. Either use everything you?ve got on him (except fire as it heals him) OR simply use a phoenix down on him and render instant death, the choice is yours (I can see you clutching that phoenix down and smiling)

Boss 12: Lost number Although fighting this boss is optional and can be done at anytime I would suggest getting it out of the way now. Use all your summons all him at the start of the fight, then break out the limits. Be ready to heal at all times as his attacks can deal great damage.

Boss 13: Materia keeper With a massive 8000hp to hand this boss is the toughest you?ll have met so far and may seem impossible, but however it is possible, just stay cool and use your most powerful magic, but not fire as we have a lover of it here. Odin will remove 1000hp from this chat, so be sure to summon him up. equip E-skill and when you learn trine turn it on him and remove 500hp a pop. Be sure to have many healing items and remember patience is a virtue.

Boss 14: Palmer A few summons and limits will send this bloke knocking at deaths door

Boss 15: Red dragon This is a tough battle, be sure that if you haven?t already then you equip restore with all, as the party will all need attention at once. Use all the summons (with the exception of Ifrit) and plenty of limits and this boss will eventually drop.

Boss 16: Demon gate This boss is a pain and could take several attempts to beat, as the demon rush he uses will almost kill your party instantly. Constant healing and limits are the way to beat this boss, that and a few summons ; )

Boss 17: Jenova You need to give cloud the water ring, as this is the only way to survive the water attack Jenova uses. Use your Buhumat and comet spells to deal damage to this guy, and if you choose to revive your party use their limits to dish out the blows.

Boss 18: Schitzo twins (that?s what I?m calling them, you?ll see why!) Cloud needs to be wearing a Aurora amulet and water ring to even out the scores. Use your summons, especially Bahumat and Odin. Any limits will also benefit the team, as they sure can dish out some damage by now. Don?t forget your trusty comet spell, as it?s of any specific element and deals major damage.

Boss 19: Jenova death Use the same methods as all the other Jenovas, but make sure you have cure-all equipped so everyone can survive and gain experience from this battle. This battle can be ended quickly by using all your powerful magic, but there?s plenty of experience behind it so be ready to cash in.

Boss 20: Corneo?s pet (another optional battle but now?s when I would do it) With no magic this can be a pain, but use all limits and any attack items of magic power to win. Your physical attack may be strong here, but if they?re not, don?t panic, just be prepared for a longer battle.

Boss 21: Dock loader Not really much advice I can give here, but aim for the body not the arms and give it all you?ve got, using all summons and limits available. Good luck

(I am aware that a boss battle can be here, but simply deny the fight to avoid it)

Boss 22: WEAPON *screams like a girl (in a 25% sale)* this things got 20,000hp and is harder than Jackie Chan and Bruce lee combined, but stay calm and you?ll get through this. Try to keep your HP up as high as possible through this fight and use your summons plenty. Bring out the powerful magic and use all you?ve got to kill this beast

Boss 23: prod clod *Screams even louder (perhaps like a small group of girls at a Garth Gates concert)* well this things just like WEAPON but with 80,000hp. Use the same technique?s as WEAPON should be applied, and pray for a little luck here.

Boss 24: Hojo 13,000hp one round of attacks should sent this chap to the cleaners

Boss 25: Hellectic Hojo Well Hojo?s back from the cleaners in his shiny freak suit, so just smack and pray my friend, smack and pray

Boss 26: Whipping boy Pray. This thing is extremely tough and poisons you on regular occasions. Use all your magic, summons and limits to bring an end to this things life

Boss 27: Jenova This guy rarely attacks so take advantage by smacking the heck out of him, save your MP and limits for the fights to come, just physically beat this thing and it?ll eventually drop

Boss 28: Sephiroth 1 Ah, the end is nigh, just go for the head, when that?s dead hit the other head, if the first head revives, kill it again, use those summons but keep saving those limits (trust me you?ll thank me in a minute)

Boss 29: Sephiroth 2, Ultimate Sephiroth By far the hardest battle in the game this guy makes Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan look like wimps. Use those limits you were saving, along with any and every summon. Also break out the powerful magic. Be prepaired to return yourself from frog mode, and be sure to have megalixer?s to hand as this guy means business. 50,000hp may not sound like a lot but you will soon see that?s more than enough.

Boss 30: Sephiroth 3 The final is here, a showdown. Just tap O very rapidly and use omnislash to save the day.

That?s it you?ve completed the greatest RPG ever made, well done. I hope this guide made things easier. Thanks for reading.

Support Materia is useless on its own, and so it needs to be paired with another Materia, such a Magic, or a Summon, in order to have any effect.

A single physical attack is performed when the paired Materia is used.

Added Effect: Can be found in the Gi Cave in Cosmo Canyon.

Summon or Command Materia.

Counter: Can be found in the Northern Crater.
The paired Materia is used when physically attacked. If the paired Materia is Magic, then the highest-level magic will be used.

Elemental: Given to you by the Mayor of Midgar on Floor 62 of the Shinra Building if you guess the password correctly on the first go, it can be found next to the Mako Fountain in Mt. Nibel, and you receive one for playing the World Map tune on Tifa's piano during Disc 2.

MP Turbo: Can be found in the Whirlwind Maze.

Quadra Magic: Can be found in a cave near Mideel. You need a blue chocobo in order to get there.
The paired Magic or Summon is cast four times, but the MP cost is quadrupled.

Sneak Attack: Given as a prize for winning a chocobo race at the Gold Saucer.
The paired Materia is used immediately at the beginning of a battle, even if it is a back attack. If the paired Materia is a Magic then the highest-level magic is used.

Steal As Well: Can be found in the Da-Chao Mountains in Wutai. You need the Key Item Leviathan Scales in order to find it.
When the paired Materia is used it makes an attempt to steal. This is useful with Comet2 because it hits multiple times, so it attempts to steal multiple times.

The following Materia combinations can be placed in the weapon
or the armour.

Magic Materia = All
The spell now affects all enemies/allies.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = Counter
When hit, you counter with the paired Materia.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = HP Absorb
You absorb 1/10 of the damage dealt as HP. For example, 6,000
damage would restore 600 HP.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = MP Absorb
You absorb 1/100 of the damage dealt as MP. For example,
6,000 damage would restore 60 MP.

(Magic/Summon) = MP Turbo
More MP is consumed, but the spell or summon is more
powerful.

(Magic/Summon) = Quadra Magic
The spell or summon is performed four times as long as you
have sufficient MP.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = Final Attack
The spell/summon/command is cast when you die. Revive or
Phoenix are recommended.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = Added Cut
After casting a spell or summon, or performing a command, you
attack the enemy.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = Sneak Attack
You automatically cast the spell or summon, or perform the
command at the beginning of battle.

(Magic/Summon/Command) = Steal As Well
You can steal from the enemy as you cast the
spell/summon/command.

The following combinations do not need to be paired together,
and can be placed anywhere.

W-Magic, Magic Materia
You can cast two spells in one go as long as you have
sufficient MP.

W-Summon, Summon Materia
You can cast two summons in one go as long as you have
sufficient MP.

Mega All, Magic Materia
All of your magics (except Comet, Contain, FullCure, Shield
and Ultima) now affect all enemies/allies.

Mega All, Command Materia
All of your commands now affect all the enemies. This also
turns Attack into Slash-All.

Cover, Counter Attack
You take damage in place of your ally, and then counter
attack. The more Counter Attacks you have equipped, the more
times you retaliate.

h) Advanced Materia Combinations

Added Cut = Master Command
Double Cut
You perform a kind of 5x-Cut.

HP Absorb = Master Command
Added Cut = Master Command
Double Cut
You perform a 5x-Cut and absorb a huge amount of HP.

HP Absorb = Master Command
MP Absorb = Master Command
Added Cut = Master Command
Double Cut = Steal As Well
You perform a 5x-Cut, absorb a huge amount of both HP and MP,
and attempt to steal from all enemies.

Added Effect = Destruct
Sneak Attack = Death Blow
Mega All
Pre-emptive
As soon as the battle starts you perform a Death Blow (which
is double normal damage) to the backs of all the enemies (which
is double normal damage again) with a chance of killing them
instantly. A true Death Blow.

HP Absorb = Master Magic/Summon
MP Absorb = Master Magic/Summon
MP Turbo = Master Magic/Summon
Quadra Magic = Master Magic/Summon
You cast a very powerful spell or summon four times, and you
absorb both HP and MP.

i) Character Set-ups

All the Materia in this section is mastered to give the optimum
effect. To have enough linked slots to equip these set-ups I
recommend using Ultimate Weapons and Wizard Bracelets (16 linked
slots all together).

The Magician:

HP Absorb = Master Magic
MP Absorb = Master Magic
MP Turbo = Master Magic
Quadra Magic = Ultima
Sneak Attack = Ultima
W-Magic = Mega All
Final Attack = Revive
HP Plus = MP Plus
This set-up is very good as it gives you access to all the
spells in the game so the character has good a variety of
options. The HP and MP Pluses should give the character 9999 HP
and 999 MP, but it depends on your level. As soon as a battle
begins you cast a boosted Ultima four times, absorbing both HP
and MP, and if anything survives that onslaught then you can
cast any other spell twice to finish them off. If you die then
you will automatically cast Life2 on the whole party thanks to
Mega All and Final Attack.

The Summoner:

HP Absorb = Master Summon
MP Absorb = Master Summon
MP Turbo = Master Summon
Quadra Magic = Knights Of The Round
Sneak Attack = Knights Of The Round
W-Summon = Mime
Final Attack = Phoenix
HP Plus = MP Plus
This set-up is similar to the previous one, but this takes
advantage of the incredible power of summoning. The Mega All
has been exchanged for Mime so the character can perform the
Summon again without using any MP. The benefit of this is you
will still receive HP and MP after the summoning. In case you
die you will automatically cast Phoenix, which revives your
party and causes Fire damage to all enemies.

The Thief:

HP Absorb = Master Command
Steal As Well = Master Command
Sneak Attack = Steal
Cover = HP Plus
Mega All = Luck Plus
Counter = Death Blow
Counter = Death Blow
Counter = Death Blow
This is the best set-up if you love to steal from your
opponents. At the start of every battle you will perform a
Steal/Mug on all opponents, absorbing HP in the process. Any
command you chose will steal from all enemies due to Steal As
Well and Mega All. If any member of your team is attacked then
you will cover, and counter three times with a Death Blow to all
enemies, stealing in the process. The Luck Plus is added to
improve your chances of stealing successfully. You could also
equip the Sneak Glove to improve your chances even further.

The Counterer:

HP Plus = Cover
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Counter Attack = Counter Attack
Quite simple. Any attack that is aimed at your party is
intercepted, and the poor creature that tried to annoy your
teammate gets attacked 14 times. A highly recommended strategy
to use against Emerald WEAPON, especially if you have Yuffie and
her Conformer.

The Balanced Master:

Master Magic = All
Master Summon = MP Absorb
Master Command = HP Absorb
HP Plus = MP Plus
Double Cut = Counter
W-Magic = W-Summon
Final Attack = Phoenix
Enemy Skill = W-Item
This is my basic set-up for random battles. The Master Magic
and the All allow you to cure your whole party or attack all
enemies, the Master Summon and the MP Absorb mean you never run
low on MP, the Master Command and the HP Absorb mean you never
run low on HP, because you absorb HP when you perform 4x-Cut as
well. You will perform 4x-Cut if you receive any damage as it
is linked to the Counter. If you find yourselves up against a
particularly nasty enemy then you will automatically cast
Phoenix if you die. The Enemy Skill provides you with very
useful abilities such as Shadow Flare, Pandora's Box, and Big
Guard. The W-Magic, W-Summon, and W-Item allow you to use two
of each in one turn, and the HP and MP Pluses are there to
ensure both are at their maximum.
