Project IGI weapons/items walkthrough.

With a nuclear warhead capable of committing some nasty acts of terrorism, its important that war head is returned and in double quick time. Therefore you’ll have to use your guns to the max and as effectively as possible. This guide will discuss all the weapons and items and the uses of the weapon. Lock and load soldier: you’re going in!. Oh, and enjoy reading my walkthrough.

---------------------------
WEAPONS & ITEMS
---------------------------

[Combat knife]
Your standard combat knife sharp and pointy. Has no secondary function, although it can be used to score one hit kills provided that the enemy doesn’t detect you first.

DETAILS:
In most situations, this weapon is useless and you’ll find few situations where this weapon will come in useful to score one hit takedowns. Its one of those weapons that if the situation arises do you use it. If an enemy does spot you, you could simply hammer the attack button wildly and hope that you kill him first before he kills you. But unfortunately 9 times out of 10 he’ll get you first and you’re good as dead. Although this weapon is a last resort, the odds of you surviving when using it are pretty slim.

[Glock 17]
A pistol that uses the same ammunition that the MP5 uses. Delivers reasonable damage but makes quite a bit of noise with some high recoil. Has no secondary function and no enemy carries this weapon..

DETAILS
Don’t use it, save the ammo up for the mp5 instead. But if you really must waste the first bullets that are already in the clip, you should try shooting out cameras with it. That itself could be done by an AK47 anyway.

[Desert eagle]
Another pistol and alleged to be the most powerful pistol in the world, although no enemy uses it and it has no secondary functions, it’s extremely powerful capable of killing enemies in one shot with a decent ammo clip to keep you alive.

DETAILS
A brilliant pistol to have around. This weapon could be used to quickly kill someone to obtain a gun or for some intense close quarter action. Its limited ammo means that its not recommend that you waste it by shooting cameras out unless deemed necessary.

[Uzi]

A submachine gun, frequently used by back up forces that appear once an alarm is triggered. Rarely do normal forces have them. Fires bullets at a fast rate at the cost of some accuracy. No secondary function.

DETAILS
If you’re out of AK47 ammo or most of the other rifles have been drained, this is the next best thing, although range isn’t good and it eats through ammunition quickly, its certainly useable in close quarter fighting where lots of bullets instead of one massive blast is required. But it shouldn’t be carried around everywhere you go and ammunition wouldn’t be too frequent unless you trigger off some alarms, which you wouldn’t want to do anyway.

[Shotgun]

A pump action shotgun with a 12 shell capacity. A weapon frequently found on back up security forces or as an alternative weapon for standard forces. Each time it’s fired, there’s a delay as the shell has to be discharged and the next one be put in place. The Shotgun has no secondary functions and each time its fired in primary mode shrapnel from the shell spreads. The further away the target the more separated the shards are.

DETAILS:

Due to the slowness of the weapon, its best used in close quarter stand off situations, as anyone holding a better weapon could easily put in plenty of holes. Make sure that your shot counts as you won’t get a second chance without taking a lot of damage.

[Jack hammer]

Think of this as an automatic Shotgun rifle. Absolutely deadly with a decent chamber for many shells and hasn’t got that terrible delay that the other shotguns have. Virtually no enemy would use this weapon so its only a pick up. Look hard, they are well concealed.

DETAILS

For close quarter fighting this weapon is it, you should use this weapon for very tough situations such as the final assault against EKK as power is simply brilliant in this weapon. Always use this gun to replace the shotgun if you find one.

[AK47]
Your classic Russian rifle. Found on virtually all enemies (in fact its their main weapon), it proves to be cheap and cheerful providing you 30 bullets in each rifle you found. Has no secondary function.

DETAILS:
The odds of the weapon you start off with lasting are quite slim. Therefore you’ll have to spend as much time resorting to another weapon and the AK47 is that weapon. Since its so frequent, you should spend as much time as possible holding and using this weapon, recoil isn’t high so a decent accuracy rate is possible and ammunition is plentiful. An always useful weapon that you can use for ramboesque tactics.

[M16]
Your All-American rifle, complete with grenade launcher as a secondary function. A 30-ammo clip means that this weapon would give up on you too soon in a fight. Due to the location, no enemy uses this gun and can only be found as a pick up or by being provided one at the start of a mission.

DETAILS
As a standard gun, this is pretty good, with good damage. The gun recoils so little at times that you could use it to snipe people provided you let off a round or 2 at a time. So try and use at the start to pick off people or for heavy duty fighting. The grenade launcher grenades however are less useful and shouldn’t really be used unless you’re absolutely sure you’re in no threat when using it and you’ll catch them in the explosion.

[Mp5]
A silenced gun frequently with a secondary function that zooms in slightly. Frequently the weapon you’re given at the start with a few rare pickups of ammunition. No enemy carries this weapon.

DETAILS
A highly useful weapon, this weapon can be used to do the odd short ranged sniping when a sniper rifle isn’t around or ammo is too precious to attempt such manoeuvres. Try and resort to this weapon only to kill a few soldiers to obtain a reasonable amount of AK47 ammo at the start, trying to make a stealthy entry by killing several people or when accuracy is required. Other then that, don’t bother using this weapon too frequently, ammo shortage prohibits frequent use.

[Proximity trip mines]
Remember Half Life’s trip mines? Well the principle is the same except that you can see the laser and you can attach this weapon where ever you like (try it on floors or walls!). Other then planting the mine there’s very little you can do except wait till someone gets caught in one.

DETAILS:
A highly useful pieces of kit this. It’s great because you can use it to plant traps that can kill off large groups of people or used for defensive purposes. If you’re finding it tough fighting reinforcements from the back of a truck, try and plant one on the floor the place where it stops, its guaranteed to kill everyone or most of them. To maximise the effectiveness of your trip mine traps, try and plant them around blind corners, in front of doorways, tight corridors or planting multiple ones at a time.

[Grenades]
Your standard Frag grenade with a 5-second fuse. Has no secondary function and can bounce around walls. No enemy uses this weapon at all.

DETAILS
Has it’s uses but you’ll have to time the throw quite well as to catch them in the explosion. Try throwing it around corners where you know they can’t hide and in rooms who don’t suspect you’re there. Even if it doesn’t catch them in the explosion, you might be able to flush them in the open hopefully, exposing them to the front end of your gun. Never use in large areas as they can run away or still survive the explosion. Be careful when using this weapon, the explosion is quite large and it could catch you in the process.

[Flashbang]
Your standard police/Military flashbang. Contains powder that produces a blinding flash and a deafing sound capable of stunning enemies for a few seconds. Has No secondary function. Whilst throwing the flashbang, hold down the primary function to throw it further whilst delaying the timer as to shorten reaction time when it detonates. Thrown against walls and it bounces.

DETAILS
This weapon is difficult to set up and when it does detonate, the effects are quite marginal. Plus they can run away from the weapon as well. Best left alone really.

[Draganov]
A soviet Sniper rifle. Found only on other snipers and/or you’re provided one at the start, therefore ammunition for this gun is rare. One shot can kill enemies. The secondary function allows you to zoom in and fire from long ranges.

DETAILS

This game is a sniper‘s Valhalla and the draganov is the only weapon for it. Unfortunately the weapon ammo is extremely limited. So what should you snipe out when using this gun? Firstly the most obvious would be Snipers and those on high ground or on balconies. This ensures that there is some more sniper ammunition to use or remove pesky enemies. Second would be any soldiers and cameras that are located around the target area and anyone else you’ll meet on the trail to that target. After that, its up to you as to who you want to snipe. To maximise the use of the weapon, try and use it on high areas such as the surrounding mountains of these bases. That means you’ll have to waste some time trekking to those mountains but getting a decent view of a desirable target certain will make it worth it.

[RPG]
A rocket launcher capable of destroying tanks in one shot. Frequently found in levels where tanks are found. No enemy uses it but comes in pick ups only providing enough for one shot. No secondary function.

DETAILS
An absolute must this weapon. Virtually no weapon other than this one can take out tanks so effectively as this one. Try and shoot the RPG at tanks from a distance, possibly from a hill or attempt to get it from behind. This will avoid the tank shooting back at you and plus gives you a good chance of hitting it. Speaking of hitting the tank, make sure your first shot counts or otherwise you could be in real trouble as most missions only provide enough rockets to destroy all the tanks.

M60
A heavy machine gun that shoots out lots of bullets. Has no secondary function with a few enemies using this weapon.

DETAILS
With so much ammunition for AK47’s and other guns the odds of you using this weapon are quite low. Although damage is quite high, the recoil also is high, so in fighting this might not be the weapon of choice when accuracy is concerned.

[Medical syringe]
A syringe containing medicine. Capable of recovering lost health in large amounts. Hold down the syringe as to increase dosage and health recovery. Found in virtually every level with 50 inside and sometimes given with refills every so often. On the last level you’ll be given large packs capable of healing all your health multiple times over.

DETAILS
Use this wisely, on earlier levels you’ll only be given one and depending on your health might or might not heal you completely when you need it most. The tip here is to conserve the medical syringe till you’ve only got half health. Any lower and the effects of the syringe might not be as effective. Use it in large bursts as small shots of one will do nothing to your health and it will be wasted. Later levels, you can use the syringe like there was no tomorrow.

[Fixed gun]
A fixed heavy weapon machine gun on mostly sandbags. Unlimited ammunition frequently found around sandbags, bunkers and guarding gates. No secondary function. Press the use button to operate.

DETAILS
Ignore the weapon. Its placed in places where its useless or they’re positioned in places that you won’t find useful but the enemy will (Ie at the front entrance). If an enemy is using it, try and find away around them (in most situations there is) and ambush them from behind. It’s often that they are glued to that position. Never do they leave their bunker/sandbags to chase you even if you’re outside.

Binoculars
Your standard binoculars with some important differences such as providing a zoom feature and allowing you to see distant enemies more clearly.

DETAILS
A useful little tool this. Since it can detect enemies you might want to use it as a method of checking out what’s ahead of you and the current situation. It provides useful information on possible targets to snipe, any enemies that the computer hasn’t detected and spotting possible new threats. Always use this to observe new areas of interest to check out the treat level. Try and use it to check inside buildings.

Personal computer
This item provides an in-depth satellite map, capable of detecting everyone from a birds eye view and over large geographical areas. It can tell the direction of where everyone is and what’s moving and pin pointing where objectives are. Furthermore, your personal computer acts as a database for recording all dialogue and all mission objectives. Handy that.

DETAILS
If you need a stumped as to where or what to do next the map can help you. It can also provide you an opportunity to check what is around that can be an easier entrance to a level. Unfortunately it’s a bird eye view so what ever is inside a building can’t be seen and therefore, many indoor areas such as tunnel or buildings the machine isn’t much help.
