Walkthrough for: Resident Evil

A Guide to the Bosses. May contain spoilers. Beware. Boss 1 Name: YAWN Description: A giant snake Where found: Attic room in the mansion, shield key required to get in. Necessary to beat it?: No, the aim is to get the death mask from the top left corner of the room. Attacks: A lunging bite (that will poison you) and a coil attack that can squeeze you to death - quite a rare attack. Chris technique: You can just get the death mask (top left corner of the room)and leave. If you want to kill it, use your shotgun - it should take about five or six shells. Jill technique: If you got the serum to richard in time he will come in and help you, although he won't actually distract the snake so he isn't much use. Again you can just get the death mask and leave, and you should hear Richard screaming from inside. You can then go in and get his assault shotgun (10 rounds). Alternatively you can let Richard kill the snake (may take a while), and then the snake will come back and get him. He will drop his assault shotgun and you'll still have to deal with the snake. If you choose to kill the snake on your own you won't get the assault shotgun until later. Mini-boss: Crimson Head Description: Fast zombie with claws and a crimson head. Where found: In the coffin where the book of curse was, after you have put all four death masks into place. Necessary?: Yes, to get out of the room. Attacks: Regular zombie attacks plus claw damage. Technique: Apply shotgun to face, legs or midriff. Allow to recover and hit it again when it comes back for more. About four or five shotgun shells should do it. Boss 2 Name: Lisa Trevor Description: Vaguely human looking, manacled at the wrists, chains on the legs, other faces sewn onto the head. Very ugly indeed. Where found: In the cabin in the coutyard. To get there you'll need to figure out the weathervane puzzle (the aim is to get the dogs facing opposite ways), go through the graveyard and then follow the path all the way to the end. Necessary to beat it?: No. Attacks: Some nasty slashing attacks with her arms. Technique: RUN! This mother is actually invincible! No matter how much ammo you throw at her she won't die. Maybe one or two shotgun shells are necessary to secure a clear exit route, but don't waste loads of shells on her. Boss 3 Name: Neptune Shark Description: Surprisingly, it's a really big shark! Where found: Aqua Ring B2 of the residence, once it has been drained. It is in a little pool of water just large enough to allow it to breathe. You'll need to go past it to get to the platform on the other side, and it'll start thrashing around when you try to get the key from the corner of the platform. Necessary to beat it?: Yes, to get the key for the gallery. Attacks: You should never find out, it's a very simple and easy boss. Technique 1: Fire loads of bullets at it until it dies. Quite boring, time wasting and ammo squandering is this method, so I recommend technique 2. Technique 2: If you look to the left of that platform you are on there is a switch. If you pull it a console next to you will start sparking. You can't touch it, or else it will shock you. So press the switch again to turn it off. Now push the console that sparked into the water with the shark and flip the switch - instant electrocution! Much more entertaining than technique 1. Boss 4 Name: Plant 42 Description: HUGE plant, massive tentacles, bulbous bit in the middle, can't miss it. Where found: In the residence, go through the gallery and through room 003. Necessary to beat it?: Yes, to get the last mansion key. Attacks: Shoots acid and whips with tentacles. Chris: This depends on whether you got the "Organic Chemistry Lab Report" or not. If you did you will be taken up into Plant 42 and will take control of Rebecca. You will have to mix V-Jolt and apply it to the root (in a room off the Aqua Ring) of the plant (in the Aqua Ring) and then it will release Chris. If you haven't got it, you can just shoot the middle bit with the shotgun when it opens up. Don't stand in one place for too long or else the acid and tentacles will get you - never fire two shots from the same place, and always make sure the core is open. Jill: You can mix V-Jolt and apply to the root or just kill it. If you apply V-Jolt then the plant will take you up, then Barry will come in and also be taken up. He will then use a flamethrower on it and it will die. V-Jolt solution: This requires 3 free inventory spaces. It can be figured out using the Organic Chemsitry lab report and the simple maths written on the wall of the chemicals room in chalk. In the chemical room you have Umb No.3 (red) and Yellow-6. Number 1 is water and can be obtained from the tap. The maths is like this: "1+3=4, 4+6=10, 1+6=7, 10+7=17, 17+3=20". Get one bottle and put some water in it. Get another bottle and this time put Umb No.3 (red stuff) into it. Combine the two. This gives 4. Get another bottle and put Yellow-6 in it. Combine this with what you already have to get 10. You should now have two empty bottles in your inventory - put water in one and Yellow-6 in the other. Combine them. You now have 10 and 7. Mix these two to get 17. Get another lot of Umb No.3 in one of the empty bottles and mix it with what you already have to get...V-Jolt! Apply this to the root of Plant 42, in a room off the highest floor of the Aqua Ring. Boss 5 Name: YAWN II Description: That pesky giant snake again Where found: In a library-type room. Remember the room with all the armour with strange messages on where the armour key was earlier? Go to the end of this room and use the helmet key on the door. The next room is where it will appear. Necessary to beat it?: This time yes, unfortunately. Attacks: Same as before. Technique: Keep leading it in a circle around the central bookcase, fire shotgun rounds when you get enough distance between you and it, then run away quickly before it bites you. It should take about eight shotgun shells from a reasonably far distance. Boss 6 Name: Black Tiger Spider Description: Remember those big spiders you've been seeing around the place? Well this is like their older sister... Where found: In the mining area in a room after using the hex crank for the first time. Necessary to beat it?: I don't think so, but to leave the room you have to spend a while chopping web away from the door with a knife, so probably best to do so. Chris: The flamethrower should have been on the wall a few rooms previous to this. You'll have to put it back soon anyway, so you may as well use it while you can. Torch it and its little friends. It's fairly easy. Jill: If the flamethrower was on the wall a few rooms ago use that, if not (if Barry used it on Plant 42 it won't be) then use the grenade launcher with incendiary shells (flame rounds to you and I). Sometimes it will just explode with this technique after about two shells! Boss 7 Name: Lisa Trevor (..again....) Description: You remember her, large head that looks like a sack, rattles and groans a lot, hits you if you go near. Where found: After riding the lift down in the mining area she is in the next room (which is a room of winding tunnels), there is not warning that she is here. Necessary to beat it?: No. Attacks: As last time. Technique: She is again invincible, so run away. She is easier to avoid in these tunnels than in the small cottage. Boss 8 Name: Lisa Trevor (yet again...) Description: You want me to describe her again? Where found: Altar room with the coffin in the middle. The coffin has chains attached to it. Get to the altar room by using both of the stone and metal objects on the lift in the mansion main entrance, then follow the rooms around. Necessary to beat it?: Yes. Attacks: Same as previous times Technique 1: Praise the lord! You can actually get rid of her this time! The first technique is simple - shoot her with powerful weaponry (ie magnum, grenade launcher) until she falls off the edge of the platform. Uses lots of ammo, believe me. Technique 2: See the statues around the edge of the platform? Push them all off. The coffin will open, and Lisa will say "Mo....ther..." before jumping off the platform of her own accord. Apparently you can get Lisa to push the statues off by standing in front of them and then moving at the last minute so that she hits them, although I haven't seen it myself. It is quite easy to avoid her using both techniques, she shouldn't cause much hassle. Boss 9 Name: The Tyrant Description: Like a man, only naked and with a blueish tint to his skin. Has a really impressive set of claws where his left hand should be and his heart is on the outside. Where found: B4 of the labs. Restore power to the main lift and then ride it down. Necessary to beat it?: Yes. Attacks: Slashes and punches that can do a lot of damage. Technique: This boss isn't very hard; all he does is walk around the room after you. Keep a safe distance and shoot with high power weaponry like the magnum or grenade launcher (should take six magnum shots). Take in the layout of the room and make sure you go in a circle - don't go in the dead ends, for they are appropriately named. Boss 10 Name: The Tyrant, second time Description: You've just seen the guy two minutes ago, surely your memory isn't so poor? Where found: On the helipad - he breaks through the floor after you fire the signal rockets (this will only happen if you saved your partner. Chris needs to save Rebecca from a hunter, Jill has to give Barry his gun back before fighting Lisa Trevor. If the partner is not saved, there is no final boss). Necessary to beat it?: Um....yeah! Attacks: Running slash attack that can do serious damage, also standing slash attacks on your character's partner. Technique: All you need to do is stand in one place until the Tyrant starts running towards you. Then you move to his left sharpish to avoid his claw attack. Move a bit further away and do the same thing when he comes at you again. If he grabs your partner (Rebecca or Barry) then shoot at him with everything you've got to make him let go. If you don't, he will kill your partner - it isn't game over, but you get a worse ending. At about 35 seconds on the clock Brad will drop a rocket launcher from the helicopter. Pick it up and shoot him. He can parry the shot, so be prepared to shoot twice. Also, it takes what seems like an eternity to bend down and pick up the rocket launcher, so factor this in and wait until there is a fair distance between you before getting it. And that's all the bosses!
