Viewtiful Joe *Boss Guide* This is my own personal work and has not been copied from any other sources. This only covers the main boss’ at the end of each chapter, not the mini bosses such as the Joker’s. *Charles the III* Charles is a very easy boss and it doesn’t need much effort to beat him. Charles will fly around the room above you. When he does, jump towards him and slow down. Punch him once and he separates into lots of little bats. Each one you hit will cause some damage to his health. Charles uses three main attacks during the battle. In the first attack he produces huge red boomerangs which zoom around the room and will eventually collide with you. When he does this wait for the boomerangs to get close to you and slow down to dodge them. In his second attack Charles will fly out of the screen and cause rocks to fall from the ceiling. Slow down to dodge them just encase one is on a collision course with Joe’s head. Once the rocks are stuck in the ground, stand next to the one nearest to Charles and uppercut it. The rock should hit Charles causing him to fall to the ground. Slow down and give Charles a good pummelling with a Viewtiful combo. His third attack is very easy to over come. Charles flies straight at you and then flies along the ground in order to run into you. Some people jump over him and avoid being hit. Instead slow down and when he’s about to fly into Joe, punch Charles once and he’ll fall to the ground. Still in slow motion hit him a couple of times before he gets up again. Charles doesn’t necessarily use these attacks in this order, but just remember what to do for whatever attack he uses and he should be dead in no time. *Hulk Davidson* Davidson is pretty hard unless you know what to do. Firstly Davidson will jump towards you. If you are too close to him when he lands on the ground then this will inflict damage to you (watch out for the red slash). Slow down to avoid being hurt and stand next to him. He will now swing his axe at your legs three times. Dodge the axe by pressing up. He will now prepare to charge at you. When he’s not looking jump over him and let him run into the wall. Slow down, zoom in and keep pressing X to pull off a Viewtiful spinning kick until you see a large skull appear next to you. When this appears jump out of the way to avoid being sliced by Davidson’s axe, speed up and run to the other side of the room. Napalm bombs will rain down from the ceiling making a small fire where it lands. If you catch on fire run to where none of the bombs landed (where there is no fire) and speed up time. This will put out the fire. If you are quiet a distance from Davidson he will throw his axe around the room in order to inflict some damage. When the axe gets too close slow down and Joe will automatically dodge it. Now stand next to Davidson (avoid the red slash if you need to) and dodge the on coming axe another three times. Jump over him and he’ll charge into the wall again. Take off some damage, speed up and run before he gets you with his axe. Avoid the napalm bombs and speed up if you get caught on fire again. Davidson will now produce missiles from his desk. Slow down and hit them once to send them back to their rightful owner. You can hit them normally, but if you miss one then it would explode and take some health from you. In slow motion if you miss one Joe dodges automatically and the missile goes straight back to Davidson. Repeat all the above instructions and he’ll be defeated soon enough. *Gran Blue* The easiest boss in the game and can be beaten extremely quickly. The best place to fight old fin head is to the very left of the screen where a platform should be. Gran will spit out junk from his mouth. Either jump over it or slow down to avoid it. He’ll do this three times, so use the same method above. Gran will now chase after you snapping his mouth in order to bite you. Jump out of his way until he starts panting for breath. This is your opportunity to inflict some damage to him. Slow down, zoom in and keep pressing X to execute the spinning kick which inflicts a lot of damage. Gran will prevent you from causing any more damage by using his tail as a propeller in order to push you away. Gran will hop over to the pool of water in the middle of the room, go after him. In here Gran will attempt to regain some of his health, stand next to him and do the spinning kick again in slow motion. He’ll use his tail as a propeller again to push you away. Gran will now twirl on the spot and fill the entire room with water. After he does this Gran will now spit out some fish from his mouth. Deal with them quickly. Shortly after Gran will twirl on the spot again and will make mines appear all around the room. Gran will now come after you again snapping his jaw. Get behind a mine. If you have done this correctly Gran should intercept a mine and it will be lodged in his mouth. Approach Gran, slow down, zoom in and spin kick him. The mine will explode once you hit Gran for the first time, plus as you’re in slow motion the mine will take off more damage. Keep hitting him until he pushes you away with his tail. The water will now be lowered to its original level. If you follow this easy method, shark fin soup will be on the menu for a long time. *Another Joe* A fun battle but can be a bit tricky. The fake Joe uses some attacks which you can do yourself (such as the spinning kick), and a few new moves. The key to this battle is to stay as close to him as possible. If he says ‘Henshin a go go, Baby’ he will make copies of himself and will either make them rotate around you or himself. You can easily destroy the clones by zooming in and performing the spinning kick. It only takes one hit to dispose of the clones, but this is the best way. Attacking the clones reduces fake Joe’s energy. If he says ‘Henshin a bye bye’ he will lay images of himself on the platforms. The images will start to glow red and will eventually come after you. Jump up in the air, zoom in and do your trusty spinning kick. The clones don’t stand a chance. If you’re not sure whether you’ve taken out all of the clones, zoom out quickly and zoom straight back in. Fake Joe himself will appear next to you to try and get a hit in. If you’re still in the air then he can’t touch you. On the ground there’s chance of him hitting you. Fake Joe will then call the Six Machine to drop bombs around the room. Take out the Six Machine by slowing down and hitting it twice, causing it to plummet to the ground. The Six Machine will also fire shots at you. If you go into slow motion the shots get bigger, so avoid using slow motion. Just jump over the shots and get close to the Six Machine and attack it till it falls to the ground. Hit it a few more times whilst it’s on the ground to fully destroy it and retrieve a hamburger to gain a bit of health back. Now try and stay close to fake Joe. When he appears near you try to get a quick hit in. If a skull appears next to you avoid it rather than using slow motion. Fake Joe is most vulnerable when he’s issuing an attack. When he yells out a command rush over to him zoom in, slow down and use the spinning kick to cause some major damage. If you do this correctly then fake Joe will be beaten and the real Joe will triumph. *Alastor* An easy enough battle and a lot of fun. As soon as the battle begins Alastor will execute a Stinger attack. This is quiet easy to dodge by jumping and leaves him for an open attack. Slow down, zoom in and use the spinning kick. Alastor will fall down after two hits and land on the ground, quickly get another two hits in by using the spinning kick. Alastor will now charge four ancient looking stones with lightening. The stones will rotate around the room. This is quiet easily avoidable, simply jump over the stones as they approach you. He will also throw a number of swords at you (of all the nerve). Slow down and hit them back at him to cause even more damage. His Vortex attack, which is rare for him to do, can easily be avoided by slowing down and letting Joe dodge automatically. Alastors Ultra Violet Kick can be dodged in the same way as his Vortex attack. A better strategy for avoiding this move is to be underneath him before he does it. He should miss you. If he does, give him a quick jab to the back. He can easily be knocked out of the air, if you can get to him. If you’re pummelling him on the ground, he’ll recover and take flight again. Quickly jump on a building next to you, jump up again and throw a punch or two in the direction of his face. The best strategy to beat him is to knock him into the larva. He’ll jump out and head straight for one of the fountains. Go after him slow down, zoom in and use the spinning kick. Using the instructions above will guarantee your victory. *Leo* The hardest boss in the entire game unless you know what to do. Leo will start running around the room, leaving a trail of rocks behind him. Get up next to one of these rocks, speed up and start attacking it. When Joe is outlined in fire head over to Leo. The fire around Joe will prevent him from being injured from the fireballs which Leo is throwing around the room. Before you go to attack Leo speed up and attack a nearby rock to get more flames around you. Now attack Leo once and move away (if the flames around you have worn off and you attack Leo you will receive damage). Leo will now walk over to you and the fireballs should disappear. Attack him in slow motion to break his shield. Once his shield is broken hit him twice and move away (this will give you some time to recover your VFX bar). Leo will now start spinning on the spot and skulls will appear where he is trying to hit you. Wait until your VFX bar is fully restored and wait for Leo to come to you. Slow down and avoid the five skulls which will appear. Leo will now become dizzy. Regain some more of your VFX bar, slow down, zoom in and use the spinning kick. This will hit him five times and reduce his energy considerably. Leo will jump into the lava and seconds later jump back out again. When he runs around the room, jump over him to avoid being squashed. Do this in slow motion to avoid any on coming rocks. Once his health is in red he will run around the room a lot quicker than he does usually. Just slow down and jump over him like normal, but do it a little quicker then usual. After some time using the tactics I have given you, Leo’s flame will be extinguished for good. *King Blue* Watching this battle is a lot like watching an episode of Gundam. Anyway King Blue can be hard at times so pay attention. King Blue uses most of his attacks in the background making it impossible for you to hit him. Eventually he will come forward giving you the chance to make your move. At the start of the battle he will be forward, so slow down, and jump up close enough to hit him zoom in and perform the spinning kick until you’ve nearly used up your entire VFX bar. He will use a basic lightening attack. To avoid it don’t do anything. Yes it sounds strange but the lightening comes down and spreads around you. If you move you’re bound to get struck. Next a missile control tower will emerge from the ground. Wait till its high enough, speed up and attack it. Your after images will go into the background and attack Blue preventing him from doing any major lightening attacks. Now watch out for the missiles. They will come from the right on low, high or medium ground. Keep pounding the missile control tower. If a high missile comes just ignore it. If a low or medium missile comes slow down in order to dodge them auto automatically. Speed up once again and finish off the tower. Blue will use his basic lightening attack again, so just stay out for the time being. When he comes forward slow down, jump up, zoom in and once again perform the spinning kick. Keep doing this till your VFX bar is almost empty, and then step away from Blue. Once you land on the ground crouch down, for Blue will use a highly effective lightening attack. If you are standing up whilst he’s doing this attack, you will get struck. Crouch down will avoid this from happening. A big ship in the background should appear. It will fire laser beams at you, so slow down in order to dodge the on coming beams. Continue which these orders and bring King Blue back down to size, now the real battle begins. *Captain Blue* Captain Blue fights like he does earlier on in the game, apart from a few new lightening attacks. You should notice that Blue has a blue aura around him. When it disappears is your best chance of landing an attack on him. In order for his aura to vanish simply dodge one of the skull marks which appear when he’s about to attack, or avoid being hit by his lightening uppercut. Once the aura disappears slow down, zoom in and use the good old spinning kick. He will move away quickly and perform a Captain Blue kick. Speed up and run underneath him to avoid getting hit. Run back to him once he’s back on the ground and get a few hits in quickly. Be sure to avoid his lightening attacks by jumping and follow the simple and easy process above and Blue won’t know what hit him.
