MISSIONS FOUND ON THE MAINLAND ON THE RIGHT IN THE MAP ( ST PAUL COAST)continued..... CHASE THE AEROPLANE Location: The extreme north eastern point of Hoboken on a grassy area tucked away in the corner, where the train line goes through the tunnel into the mountain, its south of Sailieri's warehouse, you will see a car next to the guy. Bonus car: Demoniac Now the way to do this mission is not to watch the plane but to learn the route and then just drive it as fast and carefully as you can. You must make a very quick start here and get in the car as fast as possible, then drive forward and up the main road, there will be 3 cars coming past as your about to enter the road, so watch out for them, it is best to make such a quick start you can drive through before they get in your way or to drive through them, but it pays to keep a straight line, thats how important getting a good start is here. Drive up to the top of the road which will get steep, and turn left, watch out for traffic on your radar here and don't swerve or crash, your now going to get over the giuliano bridge, so make you way round this curve as it turns right, and then steam ahead down to and over the giuliano bridge. You must then take the first right at the bottom of the bridge, I do not mean at the traffic lights, I mean the very first right, brake enough to enter this turn in a controlled manner, and when you turn in here, look to the left and in the corner will be an alley, you may not be able to see it very well, on your map you will notice it has the elevated railroad running along it, turn into it and if possible try not to drive through the cardboard boxes as they tend to slow you down, now drive through the alley and turn right to go down to the central island tunnel. Drive through the tunnel and keep going on this road, drive along this long road until the road starts to bend left, as you turn left along it, then take the first right, if you look on your paper map it will be the road above where it says 'Winslet Ave'. Drive along this road now and at the end of the road you will see two white garage doors and a hotrod, thats your bonus car, drive rapidly up to them and you will have made it, the plane carries on going but it doesn't matter, you did it. TAXI TIME BOMB Location: New Ark, by the river edge just under where the elevated railroad goes across the river in New Ark across to Central Island. Bonus car:Manta Prototype Taxi Quickly get in the taxi and drive it to the very edge near the water, then get out, run up onto the main road and steal someones car, if there are several around steal the fastest car you can, if no cars are coming by you may have to run up the road a bit and steal a parked one, then drive back down to the taxi and nudge it into the river. Now drive back up onto the main road, if there are other cars around, park your car and get out and steal another car and then make it over to the construction site area for the 2nd taxi, if there are no other cars around then it will be more convenient to just drive over there in what you are in, (the reason being you will need a car for nudging this next taxi into the river when you get it back) so drive through Downtown and to the constuction site near the gas station near Hoboken, the taxi is to be found in the middle area of the site roughly. Get in and drive it back to where you started, park it at the waters edge, then go and get the car you parked up earlier and nudge it in, if you didn't park one , then you need to steal one. Once that taxi is done, drive over to the third one, go up the road again and cut into the paved area at the very side of the guiliano bridge, this is a good shortcut, once you are over the bridge, do the same again, cutting into the paved area on the bottom left of the bridge as it ends, then get to the main road by the waters edge and on the right just past the phone box you will see the taxi parked up in a little area, drive it over to the waters edge, you will note the embankment goes down on the left of your taxi, so drive it down here, leave it in neutral then run onto the road and either get in your car or steal one if one is nearer, then nudge it in. Now get over to the next taxi parked on the south side of the state capitol building on Central Island, take the taxi to where you started the mission and you know the routine by now. Then get to the 5th taxi in the port of lost heaven car park, it's the taxi on the left if your standing in front of them, then take this taxi to the waters edge and dump it in. AVOID THE ZEPPELIN'S BOMBS OVER TERRANOVA BRIDGE Location: The City Hospital Bonus car: Black metal 4WD You need to drive the little coupe over the bridge and to the place behind the building on the right when you exit the bridge, check your map when you get closer. For a start put your speed limiter on as the car cuts out past 40mph, to stop you from using sheer speed to get across the bridge no doubt, as your driving the zeppelin tends to pepper the bridge all over with bombs, but I found that by sticking to the left almost on the little pavement there, I got across, then just drive to the area on your right and look at your radar for the red X, there you will see your new bonus car. MISSIONS FOUND ON CENTRAL ISLAND CARRY THE BOX Location: The car park on the right at the end of the Giuliano bridge on Central Island. Bonus car:Hillbilly 5.1 FWD This is the only mission to be found on the whole of central island and is very easy. Get out of your car and go to the man, he will tell you to run round the block, 'the block' can be misleading, its only a very short run round the corner, so run from the car park onto the streets pavement and round to the right, so your circling the building that is next to the car park, you will notice there is a railroad line above the road as your running along this building, then cut into the gap on the right there to get back into the car park, it doesn't take long to do. Then he will tell you to do 3 knee bends, so press your crouch key 3 times, then he will tell you to pick up the box on the floor next to him and follow him, so press your action key to pick it up and simply walk with him, be careful not to get knocked down by traffic when you cross roads, hey, i've seen him do it! He will walk towards the central island tunnel and then down some steps, then in the corner down there he will tell you to put the box down, then to get in that beat up yellow taxi nearby and get out of here!, the beat up yellow taxi is your bonus car by the way. But you can't put the box down any old way or you will fail the mission, you must drop the box using the action button, not your 'drop item' button, and you must put the box down in front of the other box, don't put it on top of the box or at the left side of it. Once you have done that just get in your new bonus car and drive off. MISSIONS FOUND ON THE MAINLAND ON THE LEFT IN THE MAP (ST PETER COAST) THE SEA MONSTER Location: corner in the China town square Bonus car: Hotrod Pick up the magnum at the guys feet, then get in your car fast, time is tight here, you need to get to south downtown to save the girl, so take the central island tunnel then head south staying on the long straight road that goes through the centre of Central Island, you need flat out speed all the way, then cross the East Marshall bridge keep driving straight until you come to the end of this road to where there is a little L shaped space on the right in the corner, drive into this area then get out of your car quickly and go to where the rocks start at the very top left, and use your climb key to get up onto them, then walk along them until you can get close to the girl and look for the padlock on the top of the post she is chained to, and shoot it off, incidentally don't try and shoot the sea monster, you can't do it any harm, there is also another way you can do this mission, instead run right down onto the beach go into the sea up waist deep and get round enough so you can see the girl and the post, you have to get round the 'censored' sign so you can shoot the lock, the angle is a little tighter here to hit the lock but it still works, be careful you don't go too far into the sea or it stops you being able to fire your gun, incidentally don't worry about the sea monster yourself, it can't harm you. FROM TELEPHONE TO TELEPHONE Location: By the phone box on the corner of the street where Salieri's bar is, it's the left end of the street if your looking at the map upright. Bonus car: Luciferion FWD You start at that phone box by the side of you, just walk in and press the action key. The next phone box is in China town, you can drive straight up the map from here to get to it, once you are in the square area of China town go down the exit on the right, and on your left there will be an alley, you will hear the phone ringing, get out and the phone box will be hidden behind a pile of boxes. The next one is after you get out of the tunnel at central island, in fact as your exiting the tunnel you will hear it ringing above your head, once through the tunnel, turn right, then right again, and drive up to the phone box there on your right. The phone box after this is really tight for time, so if you have any time to spare turn you car round to face round so the phone box is on your left before you get out of your car and answer the phone. Now this one is tight but the route is simple, but avoid hitting traffic because it will cost you dearly, drive down the road your on all the way to the harbour on the south of Central island, you need to park your car on the left in the car park there, in front of the harbour, then go through the steps there on the left, and then up the steps ahead on the left as you hear the phone ringing by now, and it will be on your left in the corner, be quick as this one is tight. Now get up the centre road in downtown and head up the map to the giuliano bridge to get to the park in New Ark near the Terranova bridge, the phone booth is on the left side of the white building that is situated at the very top of the park, this one gives more time, you can either park at the top on the terranova bridge and climb over the hedge to the house or you can even drive up to the house through the upper part of the park in your car, then get out at the houses entrance and walk round to the left side and take the call. The final phone box is found in the church cemetary in Oakwood, when you get to the church at the roundabout, park and get up the steps on the left of the church, then go into the entrance into the cemetary there, then go up to the church itself and look left, you will see a very tiny phone box about 1 foot tall right next to a tombstone, go up to it and press action key, and then you will have your bonus car, it will inform you that it is parked in the car park of the tennis courts in Oakwood. THE EXPLODING CELESTE Location: the 2nd Parking lot, south of the word 'WORKS' in Works Quarter on the map, see the P icon for car park on the map, well it's the lowest parking lot of the two, it's level with the Fire service pumping station. Bonus car: Disorder 4WD This is a tough one, you must drive the car as fast as you can without its fireballs it keeps dropping blowing you up, you have to get to the parking lot in the 'a great deal!' mission in the south area of central island, the best tips are to take wide corners on wide roads so you can keep your speed up. FLAMER SPEAR CIRCUIT Location: South Works Quarter in the narrow road with the wooden posts on the pavement where you stole the cigar truck in the story mode, it's the harbour road. Bonus car: Flame spear 4WD & Flamer What you have to do is drive to the location in the time allotted following the red bellowing smoke rising from the ground, this marks your way, you will see one every so often, they aren't hard to see nor are they put anywhere hidden, it's a speed fest really with your destination being the car park of the municipal building in Central island, but you will have driven over all 3 areas before you get there. Now there is a bug in this mission, the first time I tried it, I ran out of time but still kept going and when I got to the end of the course I was given the bonus car still, then when I tried it again a few times, there was a problem with the smoke signals, it seems when I got to New Ark they weren't there anymore, the last one visible was the first or second signal into New Ark, what I did was go back to it and drive through the smoke signal, and this triggered the rest along the route to appear, now this wasn't neccesary to drive through them before, and you don't seem to need to do it until you get to this point in the map, it's an imtermittent bug, the games instructions say to follow the route, not drive through the smoke, so bear this in mind when you play it. The car is very light and bumpy, and it is easy to tip over so do be careful, you can make this mission with about 20 seconds to spare without driving like a maniac round corners, just know the route, go fast but slow down if you think you are going to crash and take corners at a reasonable speed and you should make it ok. Start by driving off into the road and go straight ahead, you will now see the first smoke sign, you will drive along this main road along the south of the works quarter and just follow the main road, no need to turn off anywhere, just keep following this road around, it will take you up into little Italy and then when you get to the entrance sign for China Town just before the Central island tunnel, you make your first turn, it is a left turn, when you are up the top of the ascending road turn right, and you will see another red smoke signal follow this road and go over the Terranova bridge then at the end of the bridge turn right into Newark, you will see the smoke on your right, it is best to drive through the next few smoke signals here as this is where the bug seems to sometimes set in, now follow this main road it will lead you across Downtown, and along the south perimiter of Hoboken, right round hoboken's outer edge and back into north downtown where you go across the giuliano bridge then left at the traffic lights where you go down the centre of centrral island to finish in the municipal car park there you will also see your new bonus car. GANGTSTER SHOOTOUT Location: Works Quarter, on the corner just to the left of the letter 'W' in Works, on the map, it is the alley where you met up with Paulie and Sam in the cigar theft mission. Bonus car: Black Dragon 4WD This can be tricky, there are two gangsters on the left balcony and two on the right, the ones on the left you can actually pick off right there on the pavement with your default pistol, but you will have to dive in and pick up the thompson there on the ground just left of the doors as you go in the alley to kill the guys on the right, and you will take some fire, you need to hide in the corner then peek out and pick off the nearest guy, the get back in again for cover then peek out and kill the 2nd guy on the balcony a little further behind him. Then proceed to go to the end of the alley where it meets another area, there will be a guy on the veranda on your right and one on the veranda on your left, the one on the right can sometimes jump down from there and come into the alley which makes it easier for you to pick him off, you need to sneek round the corner and stay close to the wall and shoot him if hes still up the veranda, and then then you can kill the other, after them, further down the alley will be 3 guys on the ground withshotguns, pick them off before they get too close and you've done it, your bonus car is there nearby, incidentally this car has in car view with your hands on the steering wheel, although it does look rather scruffy. THE UFO CHASE Location:The 'T' shaped dead end in the Works quarter, just above the letter 'U' in the word 'Quarter' on the map. Bonus car: Mutagen FWD Start by driving over to little green alien by the red doors on the other side of the dead end, once you get to him spin round as you need to now follow the flying saucer, the flying saucer will stop at certain points and wait for you to get near it, then when you do so it will move on to its next stop point, don't worry about the timer, it gives you miles more time than you actually need, so theres no need to rush or drive like a madman. Notice how when you are very close to the UFO it will make a funny sound, this can help you a bit when your following or trying to find it, as it's not always easy to see it above you, use your look sideways viewpoints whenever, as these can prove helpful. Now start by driving out of the dead end T area and turn left, it will make its first stop here on the corner of the road, drive down this road then turn left again, come to the end of this road and turn right. then turn left, then go down an alleyway on the left, and then when you exit the alley turn right, then take the next left, do not follow it into the area it just flew over which is a P parking area, as it has locked gates at the back so you'd have no exit and be stuck. now turn left, then take the first right, it is a road with lots of trees blocking the sky to some degree, if you look carefuly you will see it has stopped at the end of this road. get up to it and then it will move again, you need to turn right and go to the central island tunnel it gets really easy from now on, drive right through the central island tunnel and up to the traffic lights there, it will be hovering over them Then follow it down the main road until you get to the letter 'L' in the word 'Central' on the map, then turn left and you will see it again, it will now go across the river so you need to get over the East Marshall bridge. Once you are over the bridge go to where the Corleonehotel is and on your left there down a steep walkway to the river you will see the UFO, drive down there and it will move again, this time it will hover over the church just behind the Corleone hotel, drive round the churchs one way street and it will move again. This time it will be hovering over the traffic lights where Downtown turns into the entrance to Oakwood. Follow it to the Oakwood church area, if your quick you will see it rotate round the churchs spire, showing off, but it doesn't stay there, follow it round to where it will be hovering in front of the Oakwood junior high school, then follow it to the lighthouse, where it will be hovering over your bonus car, simply drive up to it and you have yourself another car.
