- XBOX Music Mixer: The Ultimate Fasnastic How To Use It Quite Splendidly And How To Cure Your Fetish For Funky Karaoke Music OOHHHHH Yes Ok Just One More Aren’t I The Wicked One Walk Through – - Introduction – The XBOX Music Mixer is a great little tool which will have you looking like a prat in front of your friends before you can say “Micheal Jackson” with its zany Karaoke features which you know you can’t sing along to very well at all. But lets face it – Its not particularly user friendly by any means. Which is why your reading TGMblokes “XBOX Music Mixer: The Ultimate Fasnastic How To Use It Quite Splendidly And How To Cure Your Fetish For Funky Karaoke Music OOHHHHH Yes Ok Just One More Aren’t I The Wicked One Walk Through” isn’t it? This guide will tell you 1) How to get music for mixing onto your XBOX a. By XBOX b. By PC 2) How to get karaoke onto your XBOX 3) How to get the meta tags for tracks from the internet onto your XBOX 4) How to sing - Ripping with the box – The easiest way to get your own music onto your XBOX is through it. Simply pop in the Music Mixer disc into your XBOX and select “Media Player”. Now remove the disc (Don’t worry, it won’t reset, the Music Mixer is special), pop in your CD and press the circle red “Record” button in the middle of the control bar. Now you simply create a new track list or choose an existing one, select the tracks you want to copy and your XBOX will rip over the tracks for you. This can take a while, but the songs will eventually get onto your XBOX. …Things to note… If you have a Live connection, Music Mixer WILL get the Tracks Titles, Artists ect and save them into the XBOX. You can then play these songs inside Music Mixer or ANY other game and they WILL show the full track title (i.e. Mad World) and not just the Track Number (i.e. Track 07) However – You CANNOT sing along to these songs…As such. Your XBOX WILL rip the lyrics out of the song so you’re just left with the music to sing to (Get to this inside Karaoke mode and press the symbol with the lips and a cross) But you will NOT get on screen lyrics for songs ripped in this manner. - Ripping by PC - With this method, you can copy over any MP3, WMA or WAV from your PC onto your XBOX fairly easily. If you have internet access, any songs downloaded can also be copied over. IF you have internet access but no XBOX Live, then you can also use this method to get the Track Artist and Title tags for the CD without manfully typing them. It also allows you to get downloaded tracks onto your XBOX without the need to write a CD to move from PC to Box. For this method you will first need a) A PC (Sorry – no Mac’s!) b) Windows Media Player 9 Series (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.a sp) c) The XBOX Music Mixer PC Tool (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/musicmixer/pctool-overview) d) An ethanet network or crossover cable from your XBOX to PC (If you have Live set up, you already have this) To get the music on your PC simply download it via your favourite method or rip from CD. To do that, stick in the CD, choose “Start \ Windows Media Player” and then “Copy from CD”. Copy over all the tracks you want by selecting them and then by pressing the “Copy” button and remember where they got ripped to. To get the tracks onto your XBOX, run the PC XBOX Music Mixer tool from the Start Menu and Press “Next”, select “Music (WMA, MP3)” and then “Next” again. Now press “Add Files” and select all the songs you wish to copy to your XBOX. Press “Finish”. A process of converting your tracks to the XBOX format will now begin and take a few minutes depending on how many songs you choose. When it finishes tap “Next” and a pretty count down timer will activate. From here run over to your XBOX, load up Music Mixer and choose “Media Player”, then “Import” and finally “PC”. You will now be asked to choose a track list or create a new one, and the tracks. The songs will (Quite quickly) then copy over to the XBOX. Once this is complete – the WMA’s and MP3’s will be on your XBOX and work just as well as any other song ripped via the XBOX in ANY Custom Soundtrack compatible game. …Things to note… Again – You CANNOT sing along to these songs…As such. Your XBOX WILL rip the lyrics out of the song so you’re just left with the music to sing to (Get to this inside Karaoke mode and press the symbol with the lips and a cross) But you will NOT get on screen lyrics for songs ripped in this manner. Your must also have an XBOX Live compatible network to send the tracks though, however, if you don’t have it already, you can miss out on the broadband. Check the front of the Music Mixer manual on how to set up XBOX Live and it will give you a detailed diagram. - Karaoke – This is easily the most fun part of XBOX Music Mixer, and despite having YMCA and New York New York bundles with it (Arguable the best karaoke songs ever) it does only have a few tracks. But you can get more! The easiest way is if you have XBOX Live. Simply choose “Live” then “Content Download” from your Music Mixer screen – this will bring up a list of all the song packs downloadable. You will, however, be charged a few pounds for each pack to the credit card you signed up with. So be sure to watch out for the prices and be careful! The other way is via http://www.xboxkaraoke.com/. Simply join this website and you can purchase from 100’s of 1000’s of songs WITH lyrics for your XBOX! Visit the site, choose the songs you want using the sites trolley system and then “Proceed to Checkout”. You will need to create a new membership if you haven’t already and also provide your Karaoke Purchase Key. To find your unique Karaoke Purchase Key, run Xbox Music Mixer, select Karaoke, and then select Import. Your unique Karaoke Key will be displayed at the bottom of the Import screen. Type this out into the site as well as your other details and your ready! The songs will download to your PC as a .krk file. Now, boot up the Music Mixer PC Tool. “Next”, then choose “Karaoke (From xboxkaraoke.com)”, “Next”, add the files you just downloaded and “Finish”. Turn on your XBOX, load Music Mixer and choose “Import”, “From PC” and then wait as the Karaoke files download! Once they are on, choose “Karaoke” on your XBOX and then select the tracks and sing your little lungs out! …Things to note… You CAN sing along to these songs…You WILL see the lyrics. However, you do have to pay for them and cannot make them yourself. The http://www.xboxkaraoke.com/ option is the more cost effective way, but the XBOX Live version is a lazier option. Your must also have an XBOX Live compatible network to send the tracks though the PC way, however, again, if you don’t have it already, you can miss out on the broadband. Check the front of the Music Mixer manual on how to set up XBOX Live and it will give you a detailed diagram. ALSO If you have XBOX Live, your Live Headset WILL work as a Britney Spears style microphone for a second singer for crazy duos! You can also use the dongle which plugs into the XBOX controller to use a variety of other mics, as any will fit in! - How to sing – Hold your head up high. Breathe in-between sentences. Change your pitch and tone randomly. Jiggle around a bit. Put “reverb” as high as it will go.
