Fatman: lay claymores around the edges of the platform because this is where Fatman will usually skate off to after weaving inbetween the piles of boxes. If you dont have any claymores try to hide from Fatman until he gets out of breath and stops to take a breather, once he is resting, kreep up behind him and use the laser sighting to aim at his head. You can also chuck a stun granade at him when he is resting, he will be knocked to the floor and will be a sitting duck for you to kick his butt.

Fortune: There is only one thing you can do when facing Fortune and that is run and dodge her unrealisticly big gun. This is because she is set on a timer. Put up with that bullet dodging freak for a certain amount of time and you will be allowed to continue on your way to complete the game.

Harrier: The only tip i can really give you to defeat that multi-million dollar plane is to watch where the harrier flies of to. You should be able to see a little spec of black in the distance. Aim your stinger at this dot until a red box surrounds it. When you see the red box pull the trigger and release a pile of explosives into the front of the harrier. Unfortunately this is the only tip i can give, hopefully there will be more tips to defeat the harrier in people's posts.

Vamp: Now this is a very simple boss to kill. You could use either the M4 or the AK-47 and fill his afterlife body full of led or simply chuck a couple of stun grenades into the water when he is in it and he will die in a couple of seconds.

Vamp(the second seeing): This is surely the easiest part of the game. Rather than using two of your powerfull PSG1 bullets you could use the tranquiliser sniper and use only one bullet.

Metal Gear Rays: This is another hard boss. My only tip would be is to use your stinger and shoot one of the rays in the knee, once the ray is knelt down shoot it in the head. This system takes away more damage than to just keep shooting the rays in the head. Another tip is to stay on the run. When a ray shoots the missiles out of their head run for a while and then kick their butts.

Solidus: This guy has a ridiculous amount of health. Luckily, you only have to get it half way down to kill Solidus if you follow my instructions. Now there will be a couple of rations around the place, make sure you keep stocking up on these if you want to survive. My tip is to keep Solidus at the edge of the platform. Firstly get them mechancal arms of of him and get him to use his swords. Once you have done this, time your attacks and then swing at him with your sword. If you keep Solidus at the edge of the platform and keep attacking him with enough force he should lose his balance, fall off of the edge and land next to George Washington's statue.

Dock-

You come out of the water behind a tank. Head back into the water and grab a ration before crawling under the tank. Slip to the side when the guard isn't looking and then run upand right until you reach a small forklift. Grab the ration and stay in the corner until the elevator arrives, moving back and forth when patrol's arrive. When the elevator finally arrives wait until the guard has walked out and far away before sneaking inside.

Helipad –

After the movies, quickly run up and to the right along the bottom of the helipad. Don’t take the stairs that you see at first, but rather wait on the stairs on the right side of the pad. If you ran fast, you should be just in time to see the searchlights move. As the top searchlight moves down you will see that it stops leaving you just enough room to run onto the helipad through the stairs on the right. Don’t hesitate, do it! Run for your life along the helipad, grab the box (which contains Chaff grenades) and keep going. Leave the helipad through the stairs on the left side with the searchlights touching your heels. Good job, you made it!

Next equip the grenades and run to your left. There is an open room that contains not only a box of Stun Grenades (essential) but also a security camera. As you reach the edge of the room Snake will look up and say "A security camera?" Toss a chaff grenade in and wait for the explosion. If you miss the camera, don’t worry – chaff grenades are extremely long range. When the camera goes haywire run in and grab the box before leaving quickly.

If you did all this as fast as possible, the coast should be clear to run up and right to the truck. Hop in the back and grab the Socom pistol from behind the boxes. Don’t equip it, keep your chaff grenades – it isn’t silenced and using it will raise the alarm instantly. Move up and left around the left side of the truck to where you can see a sleeping guard and yet another security camera. On Easy mode you can see that the camera is fixed, and that it leaves a safety gap along the wall where the man is sleeping. On Hard or Extreme, you will have to take my word for it. Edge silently along the wall until you are right next to the man (not touching him – he will wake up). Toss a Chaffer and wait. The exploding chaff grenade will not only send the camera psycho, but also wake up the man. The instant it goes off, grab the man and strangle him. If you grab the man too early, the camera will alert and you will be shot. Once the man is dead, grab anything he drops and crawl through the hole.

Tank Hanger –

If you are claustrophobic, then get used to it – this isn’t your only trip through the air ducts. Simply crawl along until you get a ring on your Codec. It’s Master, a specialist in survival. He tells you to follow the rats, which is slightly useless considering you are crawling in a one-way pipe. Follow the rats underwater, around a few corners and past a small pipe on your left. You can have a look in this pipe if you want, and get a look at the Tank Hanger. When you find the end of the pipe, crawl out and stand up.

Chances are that you will be seen instantly. If not, save your game. Then run up and left along the top wall of the room. Grab the Socom bullets under the stairs and head halfway up the stairs. Here is a major hint – Guards will not see you if you are on another level, and halfway up the stairs counts as another level. Look up the stairs at the camera on your left. It cycles from pointing almost right at you to pointing along the wall to where you came out of the pipe. Wait until it is pointing almost at you then run up the stairs and shelter under the camera. Another hint – cameras all have a blind spot under them. Now wait until it turns away and run along the gantry, around to the right and in the open door. You can do this later, but the door will be closed and you can not open it until you obtain a level 5 key-card. It will make it far, far easier to get the stuff now. Inside, grab the Thermal Goggles in the far corner. If you o this later in the game there will probably be a security camera overhead – avoid it in the normal fashion.

Leave the room, run back along the gantry and avoid the camera at the top of the stairs. Get halfway down the stairs and look for a guard that circles around the tank. If he walks past you and stops, don’t think that it’s a good time to run. He usually turns around and looks at the stairs before continuing his rounds. Wait for this and then head down and to the elevator at the top of the room. Once inside, select level B1.

Prison –

You emerge from the elevator outside a room. You can’t open the door, but you get a call saying that the first of the hostages is just inside. Run down and to the right and climb the ladder.

You come out in yet another ventilation system. This is also fairly obvious – you can take a branch to the left if you want to hear a guard talking. Further on you can look down and see a woman doing her exercises – not the hostage. Here’s a secret – if you go back out and down the ladder, and then up again repeatedly, check the woman each time. After the fifth or sixth time, she will be doing her exercises in her underwear. Regardless, press on through the ventilation until you are looking down on a man. This is Donald Anderson. You will drop down and talk to him about Metal Gear, before he dies of a heart attack.

Escape –

In the cell you hear strange noises coming from outside. Wait and all shall be revealed… the door opens mysteriously and you should walk out. If you want, stand in the doorway and look to the left or right, and lean using L1 and R1 to see what has happened. On the right there is a naked man, and on the right a tooled-up soldier.

Walk out and you will have a rifle pressed to your head. Watch the movie or skip it, it makes no difference. Three men will burst through the door after the movie – watch out! They are here for your blood and there is no escape! Equip your rations and the Socom, and begin blasting. You can run and hide next to the door or the top side, and blast them at your leisure as they run in. Once they all go down, more run in. This time, the lady with you takes an active part in the proceedings. From here on, you have some help. A hint – grab the stuff that the soldiers drop quickly. If you get low on either ammo or health, hide behind the woman. She will take down the soldiers (eventually) and doesn’t mind being shot. You will need to let her take every kill from here on if you want to get the best rating in the game. Halfway through the battle, the soldiers outside will toss in some grenades. Hide next to the door and take out the soldiers that walk in. A few more battles after that and it’s all over.

The lady will walk away, and as you chase her she takes a few potshots at you. Don’t worry, you dodge them all. She then gets in the elevator and says goodbye, moments before you have a strange vision. It is all explained through Codec by Naomi, your doctor. Head back to the prison area where you were just fighting and search all the rooms. There are some bullets and a ration under the DARPA chiefs bed. Once they are all collected, equip your level 1 Keycard and head to the top floor.

Tank Hanger –

Once out of the elevator, run down and hide on the left side of the crates. A soldier comes along totally oblivious of you on the right side. Watch him carefully. He will soon begin walking off to the right. Follow him but don’t get too close. At the end he will turn and walk down the room. Quickly go through the door ahead and run along the bottom wall. On the far end of the room is a sleeping soldier. Walk or crawl quietly up to the box next to him without disturbing him, grab it and go full speed. Run straight to the elevator – if you did this quickly there should be no one around. In safety, check out your Socom – it now has a handy silencer! Head down to level B2.

Armoury –

This room is fairly big, but there isn’t that much to do in it. There are six smaller rooms inside, arranged in a three by two array. Before walking anywhere equip your thermal’s. In the middle of the floor are some trapdoors that will open if you walk on them. They are in the top corridors, so be careful where you walk. If you run fast and close to the wall you should have no problems. Check out all of these rooms with your level 1 card. Some will be inaccessible at the moment including the top left and bottom right room, as you don’t have a high enough keycard. In the others you should grab some bullets, grenades, and the all-important C4 explosive.

Equip the C4’s and head to the top left corner of the room. Gaze at the walls – see anything different? One looks plastered up. Set a C4 explosive on the wall, get away and detonate it. Pick your way through the rubble inside to grab some more grenades. Walk out and right and there will be another plastered wall to the right of the elevator. Blow it and get some bullets from inside, avoiding the two trapdoors placed in the room. Then head to the very bottom left of the great big room. Here is the final plastered wall in this room. Blow it in spectacular fashion and head inside.

Hostage –

If you are playing on Easy (you pussy!) your radar will be inoperative. Shame. Go down and under three iron girders to reach another plastered wall on your right. Blow it and head inside. The last wall you need is on the top wall, not far into the room. Hint – you may not have enough C4 here, which means you missed a box in one of the secret rooms’ just outside. Go get it! Also, on your right there is another plastered wall. Don’t bother with it now, but if you come back later with a level 5 keycard it will be of some interest. Inside there are both a lot of security cameras and one of your own, which you can use to take happy snaps of soldiers running around and save them on your memory card. Fun! Regardless, blow up the last wall and take a look inside. Foreboding? Yep, you’re right. Save, equip rations and Socom and head in.

Inside you will see the last hostage strapped to a girder, surrounded by wires. Don’t touch – they will set of some C4’s that will kill the hostage. During the movie, a man steps out of the shadows – Revolver Ocelot. He will challenge you to a fight, and you can’t say no.

REVOLVER OCELOT

When the battle starts, run up and stop. Continue up and left when Ocelot yells "Draw!" He should shoot at you and pause, enough time to put a bullet in his face. He will run off – from now on, you are on your own. Ocelot can hit you wherever you are, so the only protection is to keep moving. He only has six shots in his gun, and he has to stop to reload. Watch his bullets drop as he hopefully misses you, and run to him when he runs out. Then shoot for your life – you can get two bullets in every time he stops to reload. He also stops to shoot – if you are running straight at him and he stops, get ready to weave. Run straight and you are gone, so act as if you are well and truly drunk. When you get to him, shoot again. If you shoot before his clip is empty he will almost always stop and take another shot at you before running. Use this to your advantage and dodge the bullet, then shoot again. Never grab an ammo box unless you have used twelve bullets, or else it is a waste. Be careful when getting the bullet box half under a wire – you don’t need to crawl, just be slow. If you are getting desperate, throw a Stun grenade, which should give you time to catch up to him and shoot him again. C4’s can be used if you are perfect – if the are in the wrong position the hostage will be killed. It will take skill to get him down on anything more than Medium difficulty, but practice makes perfect.

Once he gives up, he will be ready to attack again. But… someone appears and chops off his hand. Ocelot runs off as the now not invisible ninja cuts the ropes holding the hostage and the C4 explodes. The ninja then screams and runs away. Snake talks to the hostage, who gives him a level 2 keycard before dying of a heart attack. Mysterious…

Armoury –

Notice that your health has increased and that you can hold more items. If you are playing in Easy, your health will be fully restored. If you are a man and are playing on Extreme difficulty, you will get almost nothing back, and you won’t be able to carry any more rations – in fact, you will never carry any more than one ration in Extreme. Head back out the way you came into the armory. Quickly look at the back of your CD case and find the CODEC number for Meryl, and then give her a ring. After the lengthy speech prepare to search the armoury. Be warned, there are a number of soldiers here now. Run up as fast as possible and shoot the guard silently before going back down. Then run along the bottom row and up at the far corner in time to shoot a second guard. Then pillage the armoury at your lesiure. In the bottom-right room there is a FAMAS - a sub-machinegun for the uninitiated. However, you need the crawl under the laser trip-wires to get at it. Be careful - it has no silencer, and will alert the guards is used.
