PART 1 OF AN EXTENSIVE PART WALKTHROUGH OF OCARINA OF TIME

Okay, so after you witness the first cinematic, you see another cinematic of a fairy making its way to the house that you saw during the first cutscene. Anyway, after some dialogue takes place, you gain control of Link (or whatever you decided to name him.) Leave the house, climb down the ladder, and walk around and get used to the control scheme. After you learn the controls, you can begin talking to the people of the forest and start your adventure.

Okay, so make your way to the Kokiri Forest shop. It is across a river where you have to jump some platforms. A cutscene will take place, teaching you how to Z-target, and then you can proceed into the shop. Go up to the shopkeeper and ask to look around and you will notice a wooden shield. Seeing as this is a Zelda game, you will definitely need a shield. The only problem with this is that the shield is 40 rupees, and if you look at your rupee counter, you discover that you don't have near enough. Time to start exploring!!

Leave the shop and start venturing around town. When you see rocks, pick them up and throw them. Usually they will drop a green rupee, which is worth one rupee. Throw all of the rocks that you can find, and then run through the grass around town. You can find a few green rupees in the grass as well. Also, a blue rupee, which is worth 5 rupees, and be found behind a house beside the hill that leads to the Lost Woods. If you go to the path that leads to the shop and jump on one of the platforms, it will release a blue rupee. (*NOTE* The platform will do this every time you enter and then exit houses!!!) Also, explore the houses if you haven't already done so to find treasure chests, which contain rupees and recovery hearts. Anyway, after collecting 40 rupees, proceed back to the shop and buy yourself the wooden Deku Shield.

After you complete the Deku Shield quest, it is time to find a sword. Run up the embankment that has a "fence maze" on it and run through the pathetic maze to the hole in the mountain. Walk up to the hole and the action button will say "crawl". Push the action button and crawl through the hole. Once on the other side, you will be in another small and pathetic maze. The only thing you have to watch out for is the giant boulder rolling around the maze. Wait for the boulder to pass you and then run to the left. Run through the maze, which is very easy, until you find a platform type thing with a treasure chest on it. Run up to the treasure chest and open it to get your very first weapon, the Kokiri Sword!!! After obtaining the sword run back through the maze to the hole in the mountain and crawl back to the other side.

Now that you have a sword and a shield, you are ready to tackle the first dungeon. From the fence maze, run to where the shop is. Go to the log that the boy is guarding and talk to him. He will say that no one can pass until they have a sword and a shield. He then sees your sword and shield, and lets you pass (although not very happily!) Run through the log and defeat the deku babas on the other side. Just slash the deku babas with your sword to defeat them and get deku sticks. After defeating the deku babas, follow the path to the Great Deku Tree. After a dialogue cutscene with the Deku Tree, he opens his mouth, permitting you to enter the very first dungeon.
