Retro Game Walkthroughs for The Bigs 2 (Xbox 360)
Submitted By: Ghost Killer
Here is my achievement guide for The Bigs 2. Hope this helps as some can be very tricky to get and some difficult to understand what exactly to do.

Taste Of Power (10G)
This is simple enough. During any match perform one of the legendary catches. These are the catches that ask you to first press A and then initiate a small button combination game. Successfully finish one to get the achievement.

Look Out Below! (20G)
To grab this achievement you must hit five home runs in a single match. It may sound hard but it actually isn’t so bad. Set the difficulty to the easiest setting and nine innings to increase the chances of hitting five. Also use the All-Stars team as they have many big hitters. Every time you get 100,000 points use your “Big Blast” to get a homerun or try to hit the ball when it is in your wheelhouse. Four or five stars have a tendency to hit it out of the park.

Blammo! (15G)
To get this simple achievement, you need to first get your power-up meter to 125,000 via legendary catches, hits of the ball and strike outs. When you have gotten the amount press both the left and right buttons when batting. This will initiate the “Big Slam” where four balls will be pitched at you. Whether you hit the single hits or not it doesn’t matter, just make sure you land the homerun pitch to finish the slam and unlock the achievement.

Burglar (15G)
To get this achievement you need three steals in a single game. Set the difficulty to easy and pick a team with a five star rating in speed. Press the Y button twice to start a steal on a player who is on a base. It’s best to have someone of first base steal and make sure they’re speed stat is four or five stars. If you use a turbo then it pretty much guarantees a successful steal. Just do it three times.

Against The Odds (10G)
Just hit the ball of a legendary pitch and you’ll get the achievement. Chances are you’ll come across one during “Become a Legend” mode, but if you’re impatient simply play the All-Stars team in an exhibition match.

The Slam Dance (10G)
Basically for this you need to pitch out the homerun hit in a “Big Slam” moment. You only get the chance to throw the first pitch, so you need to make sure it’s good. Either counter the “Big Slam” with a “Big Heat” if you have the points, or use turbos to throw tough pitches. If the first ball is good the rest will continue that way so just hope the batter misses the final homerun swing.

Two For The Price Of One (10G)
A double steal means that two players on two bases steal the next one at the same time. It sounds hard but can be done relatively simply. Have two fast runners on base. One on first, the other on second press Y then the left button to command both players to steal. It’s wise to make sure the other team doesn’t have a turbo or else they’ll throw you out easily. If need be use a turbo of your own, but chances are you will make it and get the achievement.

Party Like It’s 1881 (50G)
Get a Grand Slam without the use of the “Big Slam” power-up. To get this achievement simply hit three people onto bases so they are loaded (have one player on each) and then use your “Big Blast” power-up to hit an easy homer.

Can’t Intimidate Me (10G)
What you need to do to grab this achievement is throw three strikes in a row making sure the final one goes throw the batter’s wheelhouse. Use a string pitcher for this and set the difficulty to weak to make things easier for you.

Perfection (20G)
Throw a shutout with your pitcher. Basically this means stop the team getting a run or point. Using a strong team and on easy difficulty this should be relatively easy for you to accomplish.

Textbook Perfection (100G)
This is pretty tough and requires your best pitching skills. Basically you need to prevent the other team from getting onto any base whatsoever for five innings. This means either catching them out or striking them out every single time! Set the difficulty to easy and pick a team with the best pitcher. Try the Red Sox or one of the All-Star teams. Have the other set as an awful one with poor batting skills. Now focus on accurate, powerful pitches and try to mix it all up. Using the same method and type of pitch won’t work as the computer will catch on quick. Try balls just to the outside of the box as it often causes them to miss entirely or hit a foul ball behind.

Penultimate Perfection (50G)
This is similar to the above achievement accept this time you can’t let any batter get an official hit. That means a hit that isn’t a foul ball. This is the tougher of the two and the best advice I can give is to use the same technique as above and hope for a little luck too.

Hit For The Cycle (75G)
This needs you to get a single, double, triple and homerun with one player in a game. Not easy but achievable. Make sure you do this with a player who is a good hitter and a very fast runner. The better they are at the two the easier it will be. Hitting the single and double is the easier part and a homerun can be gotten with a “Big Blast” so it’s the triple that can cause problems. Hit the ball with a power hit rather than an accurate one and use turbo as much as you can to run the bases. Hopefully you should make it.

Power Struggle (15G)
This is a tough challenge and requires a good amount of skill. Here you need to beat the computer on the Very Hard difficulty. Set the game to three innings, and focus on hitting runs as often as you can. Pitching is the harder part as the margin for error is so small that you really need to focus. Try throwing pitches that are just outside the throwing box as it’ll force foul balls on the batter.

Mexico Complete (20G)
This is gotten during “Become A Legend” mode. This is a four year journey and you unlock this by completing the final Mexico mission in year four.

Japan Complete (20G)
This is gotten during “Become A Legend” mode. This is a four year journey and you unlock this by completing the final Japan mission in year four.

Become A Legend (100G)
This will unlock once you have completely finished the “Become a Legend” mode. That means finishing all four years and the Cooperstown challenges. Set the difficulty to easy if you wish to earn this achievement quicker.

Legendary Strike Out (15G)
This requires you to strike out Babe Ruth. At the very end of “Become a Legend” mode you will face him in a series of challenges. You will get your chance to strike him out then.

Steal Ozzie Smith (15G)
Basically beat Ozzie Smith in the “Become a Legend” mode. You’ll take him on in a fielding challenge. Focus and try not to miss any balls and you’ll win therefore unlocking the achievement.

Steal Dave Winfield (15G)
You’ll face a team lead by Dave later in the game. It’s best to grab some hall of famers first before tackling him as this is especially tough. With pitching it’s best to aim just outside the box so it’s just a little out of reach for the batter to get a good hit if at all.

Steal Wade Boggs (15G)
Beat Wade in a contact mini game in the “Become a Legend” mode. Basically if you don’t hit nearly every single ball then start over as Wade rarely misses at all.

Steal Reggie Jackson (15G)
Beat Reggie in a Home Run Derby. Aim for all the targets. Hit the ones in the centre and it will throw a tougher ball at Reggie causing him to miss. Once you’ve reached 100,000 hit the sign with a “Big Blast”

Steal Ryne Sandburg (15G)
You’ll face Ryne in a running event later in the “Become a Legend” mode. Beat him and you get the achievement.

Cross-Continental Success (10G)
Just win a ranked online match against anyone.

10 Times The Fun (20G)
This requires you to win ten online matches. Take your time with it as I’m sure eventually you’ll beat ten players online.

You Are The Champions (100G)
The great thing about season mode is that it can be simulated. Pick the Red Sox and you should win if you simulate the whole season. Just make sure you play a few to get more than 1,000,000 points in your season score. Win the World series and the achievement will unlock.

Power Derby Winner (30G)
Win the Power Derby in season mode. This is easy. Just before the All-Stars game you’ll come across this event. Just play through it and win and you’ll get the achievement.

Best Season Ever (50G)
Perhaps the most demanding achievement in the game. To unlock this, you need to pick a decent team and set the game to easy and also nine innings in season mode. You are given a specific amount of milestones to beat such as pitching so many players out in a season which you must complete. Each milestone must be completed by a single player. Team efforts do not count. So if you need 45 homeruns, then one player must get that many in a season.

Times Square Master (15G)
Get 1,000,000 points on the Times Square stage in pinball. Key advice is to save your “Big Blast” for when you have a multiplier as this can lead to points going up in the hundreds of thousands. Also you’ll notice a section of targets you can hit. Hit out all the lights in that target and you’ll get a bonus. Aim to the top left and top right for these zones and you’ll receive 10,000 points every sign that is hit.

Vegas Master (15G)
Get 1,000,000 points on the Las Vegas stage in pinball. Key advice is to save your “Big Blast” for when you have a multiplier as this can lead to points going up in the hundreds of thousands. Also you’ll notice a section of targets you can hit. Hit out all the lights in that target and you’ll get a bonus. Like Times Square the best areas to aim for are the top right and top left areas. When you have a “Big Blast” aim for the Eiffel Tower, Pyramid and Blimp for major points.

Shibuya Master (15G)
Get 1,000,000 points on the Japanese stage at pinball. Key advice is to save your “Big Blast” for when you have a multiplier as this can lead to points going up in the hundreds of thousands. Also you’ll notice a section of targets you can hit. Hit out all the lights in that target and you’ll get a bonus. Aim for the top right for the billboards and also the top left. It’s also possible to aim with the accuracy swing to the bottom right for some lantern targets.

Retro Times Square Master (15G)
Hitting the New Year’s Ball twice is key here, as hitting it a second time will grab you a hundred thousand points. Key advice is to save your “Big Blast” for when you have a multiplier as this can lead to points going up in the hundreds of thousands. Also you’ll notice a section of targets you can hit. Hit out all the lights in that target and you’ll get a bonus.

Take The Blimp Down (10G)
To hit the blimp this is quite tough. First of all select the Las Vegas pinball level then you need to get 100,000 points in order to have a “Big Blast” Then when you see the blimp first appear and just flying over the top of the pyramid swing and hit the ball. If you timed it right, you should hit the blimp.

Slay The Giant Brute (10G)
On the Japanese pinball level take out the four billboards by aiming your power shots in the top right hand corner. Then swing in the same sport again and you should hit the giant Godzilla like statue.

Apocalyptic Success (10G)
Go to the Times Square pinball stage and then hit the globe. To hit it aim your swings to the top left side. This should hit each letter on the globe then finally the globe itself making for four hits.

Happy New Years (10G)
In the retro Times Square level you need to hit the New Year’s Ball. To do this first hit the Blue Castle logo six times by swinging and holding straight forward on the analogue. Then get a “Big Blast” and aim at the same sport to hit the Ball.

Double The Fun (50G)
To get this you need to get 2,000,000 points in co-op on any pinball stage. I suggest Times Square as it has more chances for bonuses and is the easiest to aim. Just focus and the two of you will hit the mark in no time.

And so there you have it. All thirty seven achievements. I advise you try for them all as this is such a fun game and good luck!
