Fort Condor battle FAQ

How to win the Fort Condor reactor battle the easy cost effective way:

Always make sure you have a decent amount of money so that you can always buy the troops that you want. If you're low on cash, go to a small foresty patch near Junon harbour where you can fight decently hard monsters AND steal ethers off some of them. Selling ethers will always guarantee you a nice bit of money.

First of all is your initial soldier placement. Look at the map of the fighting area, about halfway down you can see three pathways in which you can walk through. One on the left, one in the middle and one on the right. Place 1 Attacker for each pathway as far down the map as you can, start the battle and have them walk so that they would block the pathway from anything coming up the battlefield. Once in place, for each pathway, purchase a Fighter, Defender and a Shooter. Make each one of these walk to EXACTLY the same position as the Attacker that is there. Once everyone is in place, whack the speed right up and you should clear the field of normal foes as the come and attack you. When the Commander appears, he will always tramp up to the top via the middle path. Send all your remaining units from the left and right paths to the middle path units that you have. The Commander should then be decimated before he gets more than 1 hit out!

That is the strategy at its most simple. You can expand on this by having 1 Healer stand behind each group of units on each pathway to repair anyone that gets a pasting. Also you can eventually position things like Fire Catapaults so that the projectile that they fire lands in the spaces in front of your units on each path. With this setup, its pretty much guarenteed that you'll win every battle including the battle for the reactor. You'll also win without really incurring any losses, so you'll get a decent amount of money which you spent on your units back again.

New fights at the reactor tend to appear every time you make it through a major section of the game (i.e. getting across the ocean from Junon, doing the Gold Saucer area, getting across the mountains at Nibelheim). Going back not only gives you the chance to get some battle experience and money but the items you can win from the reactor battles are pretty decent too!

Final Fantasy 7 was produced by Squaresoft. It follows the story of a young ex-SOLDIER by the name of Cloud Strife. Hopefully this walkthrough can help you get through this amazing story.

BASIC CONTROLS:
O: OK
X: CANCEL
TRIANGLE: MENU
DIRECTIONAL BUTTONS: MOVE/SELECT
START: PAUSES GAME IN BATTLE
SELECT: TURNS HERE/DOOR/LADDER ICONS ON/OFF
Holding down the cancel button while moving enables your character to run

1. MIDGAR (REACTOR 1)

The story starts here, the opening scene shows a slum flower girl, and then a train pulling into the station. Here, the mercenary Cloud jumps off the train, and exchanges a few words with the leader of the group he is currently working for. Walk over to the nearest guard who is on the floor. Press the OK button to recieve a potion. A message box will appear saying "RECIEVED [Potion]" Press the OK button to dismiss this box. You do this in game during dialouge as well. Press the OK button again to recieve a second potion.

Now go towards the steps out of the station, if you cannot see where it is, press the SELECT button to turn the ICONS on. Doors are displayed by a red arrow. If at any time you are unsure whereabouts on the field your character is, turn the ICONS on, and your character will have a large finger pointed at him. If you dislike the ICONS, press the select button again to dismiss them.

Just before you reach the steps, to SHINRA Inc. guards come down the steps and engage you in battle.

(BASIC BATTLE COMMANDS)

The directional buttons select an option on the COMMAND box. This box appears whenever it is your turn in the battle. On the screen, you have the view of the battle at the top, and the bottom quarter of the screen is for battle statistics. On the left of this part of the screen, is your characters name. To the right of this, there are two empty bars labelled "BARRIER". Next to that is your "HP", and to the right of that, your "MP". Beside this are two more bars. First, the "LIMIT" bar, and finnaly, the "ATB" bar.

"BARRIER": At some points of the game, you may find magic or Items that cast a barrier over your Party. When these are cast, one or both barrier bars will fill. The top bar, is for BARRIER. This halves the damage your characters from Physical Attacks (guns/swords etc.) The second is MBARRIER. The M stands for magic. Filling this bar will halve the damage from some magical attacks (Fire/Ice spells etc.). When the bars are filled, they will slowly decrease over time. When the bar is empty again, it no longer protects you, and if you want to stay protected, it must be cast again.

"HP/MP": These are probably the most vital things on the battle screen to know. HP stands for Health Points. These are your life force. As soon as they run out, you are Knocked Out. HP is given in a small bar and exact numbers. Foe example, if you have 300/300 HP, your HP bar underneath is green and healthy. The numbers are in white. But if you take a bad hit and 200 HP is knocked off, the bar will shorten to it's red zone, and the numbers colour will change to yellow. Yellow gives you a clear indication that you are low on health, and should do something about it quickly. The numbers will then roll down and display 100/300. It is CURRENT HEALTH/MAX HEALTH. Once these numbers turn RED, they will display 0 and you will be knocked out.
MP stands for magic power. Whenever you are about to select a summon or magic, have a look next to the commmand box. A smaller box would have appeared. Showing your CURRENT/MAX MP, and the MP Cost. The MP Cost is how much MP will be used up if you use this ability. It is like buying things at a supermarket. The MP bar functions in the same way as the HP one. Once you have no more MP, no more abilities that require it can be used, until you have recovered enough MP.

"LIMIT": The limit bar indicates how close you are to your Limit Break. It fills up pink, and only when you are attacked. The more damage the attack does to you, the faster the limit bar fills. When you are not taking damage, the Bar will not fill. It becomes more difficult to fill as you gain exoeriance and Level Up.
A Limit Break is the special ability you are able to use when your Limit Bar is filled. You start with just one limit break, but as you gain experiance, you gain different abilitis.

"ATB": This stands for "Active Time Battle". This means that whenever the bar is not filled, you are not able to carry out any attacks. When your Character's ATB bar is full, he/she is able to select thier battle commands. When the have selected the commands, the ATB bar will return to empty and begin to fill again.

Command Menu:
The command Menu is the main menu that appears whenever your ATB is full. You have a certain number of options depending on what you have equipped, and what your status is. There are 4 compulsorary options: ATTACK, ITEM, ROW, DEFEND
ATTACK makes your character attack physically with his/her equipped weapon.
ITEM lets you use an item from the item sub-menu
ROW is selected by pressing right directional button when on the menu. It allows you to switch from front to back row or vice versa.
DEFEND is selected by pressing left on the command menu. You sacrifice your turn to take less damage until your next turn.

The next command you must be familiar with is MAGIC. When you select MAGIC, a sub-menu appears showing you what magic you have available, and how much it costs. These are displayed in white. If you have the magic equipped but not enough MP to use it or are suffering from a status effect that stops you using it, magic will be blacked out. However, when you have magic available, you use it by selecting the magic you wish to use, and then the enemy/ally you wish to use it on. Once you have selected this, the magic will automatically cast.

Pressing and holding the square button will make the command menu dissapear, so you can see your statistics. Releasing square brings it up again.
To run from a battle, you must hold L1 and R1. You cannot escape from all battles.

After a battle you will be taken to a screen which shows you the Experiance Points (EXP) you have gained by winning the fight and the Ability Points (AP).

MIDGAR (REACTOR 8) CONT.

After you have defeated the two guards, go up the stairs. Then head towards the gate to the North. There you will have a brief encounter with the group you are working for, named AVALANCHE, and have a talk with it's leader Barret. When the gate opens, go through and turn right. Then just follow the path around until you reach the Mako Reactor. You can randomly encounter battles almost anywhere on the field, so always be prepared. If you need to change the configuration or use an item outside of battle, press the triangle button to access the menu, select ITEM or CONFIG and then select the item you wish to use and the character you wish to use it on, or change the settings to your liking.
When inside the reactor, turn right at the bridge and follow it North. Go through the door. Talk to Jessie or Biggs after Barret joins your party, one of them will decipher the code to one of the two locked doors. Do this again when you reach the second door. Instead of heading immediately down the elevator, take a quick detour to the right and open the chest. You will then find a Phoenix Down. Go back and take the elevator down. Barret explains to you here why they are trying to destroy the Shinra reactors, but Cloud doesn't seem to care. After the elevator, take the steps downward and go through the door. You will come to a room with a hole in the middle of the floor. It is a small gap, so just walk into it and Cloud will automatically jump over. You will then run into Jesse, an AVALANCHE member, who explains how to climb up and down ladders. After you have gone down the ladder, make sure to pick up the potion before climbing down the next one. At the bottom of this ladder (Ladders are marked by a GREEN arrow by ICONS) you will come across a save point. To save your game, walk into a save point. A message will appear telling you how to save. Dismiss this message with the OK button and access the menu. Scroll down to SAVE, and select. Then select the memory card slot you wish to save to. !!REMEMBER!!! TO SAVE YOU MUST HAVE A PLAYSTATION 1 MEMORY CARD INSERTED WITH AT LEAST ONE FREE BLOCK!! It is a good idea to save on 2 blocks alternately incase one becomes corrupted. Don't wait for it to happen, there is nothing worse than trying to load the game when you are 10 hours in and discover that you are not able to because your data is corrupt, as what happened to me.
Once you have saved, make sure you restore as much of your health and MP as possible, and head to the right along the bridge and through the door. Here you find some materia and encounter the bomb, a voice tells Cloud that it is more than a bomb, and sure enough, when he sets it, all the alarms go off. Then you encounter your first BOSS.

BOSS: SCORPION GUARD
Level: --
HP: 800
MP: 0
Weak: Lightning
Win: Assault Gun
Occurrence: Mako Reactor 8 / Disc 1
Attacks: Search Scope = 0 HP
Machine Gun = 30+ HP
Tail Laser = 75+ HP

(IN THIS BATTLE, MAKE SURE THAT CLOUD ATTACKS WITH BOLT AS MUCH AS HE CAN, AND BARRETT CONTINUOUSLY ATTACKS. WHEN A CHARACTER FALLS BELOW 100 HP, MAKE SURE TO HEAL THEM WITH A POTION. USE LIMIT BREAKS WHEN YOU HAVE THEM. !!DO NOT ATTACK!! WHEN SCORPION GUARD HAS ITS TAIL UP, AS HE WILL COUNTER-ATTACK WITH ITS TAIL LASER. IT ONLY DOES IT ONCE, AND A FEW HITS AFTER IT PUTS ITS LASER DOWN, IT WILL BE DESTROYED)

Once the guard is defeated, you recieve an "ASSAULT RIFLE". This is a long-range weapon for Barret. To change equipment, select equip on the menu, select the equipment you want to change and then what to change it with. Statistics will be shown on the left. If the equipment you are replacing with is highlighted, and statistics are shown in yellow, it has a positive effect on those statistics. If it is red, it has a negative effect. It doesn't take long to equip this, and good thing too, as the moment you recieved the Rifle, a timer started to count down. You have 10 minutes to escape the reactor before it blows. Don't worry, this is ample time, and it is a good idea to fight any enemies you encounter as it boosts your experiance. Go back the way you came, save at the save point, up the ladders. After going up the first ladder make sure you talk to Jessie, as her leg is stuck and she needs some help getting it free. This only takes a matter of seconds. Then head up the second ladder, over the hole, through the door, up the stairs, then into the elevator, send it up, come out of the elevator and talk to Biggs or Jessie again, (I Think it's Jessie) to unlock the doors. You then exit the reactor and you will most probably have a good five minutes to go. As soon as you exit however, you run for shelter that Wedge set up, and the reactor explodes.

You are trapped inside the shelter for a brief time, while Jessie configures the Bomb. She blows the enrance open, and you come out in the slum of sector 8. After a brief talk with Barrett about money, you head up the stairs for the station. In the next area you encounter the flower girl seen in the opening scene. You have a little conversation with her and the choices you make don't affect the outcome of the game. But if you want to go out with her later, you might want to be nice....
After this little chat, head south of the square. Keep an eye out on your left for another potion. When you leave the square you are harrassed by SHINRA soldiers. It doesn't matter whether you fight them or not, but it might be a good idea to as you gain more EXP, gil, and items. Even if you beat each pair of soldiers, another pair will come that you cannot fight, so you will still end up surrounded on top of the tunnel as the train thunders underneath. Only one way to escape...
Cloud is on top of the train, but the AVALANCHE members on board don't know that, and they start to discuss what might have happened to him. Just when cold-hearted Barret starts to feel a little sympathy, Cloud comes bursting in, making Barrett very angry. Barrett starts screaming and shouting, and Cloud plays it cool. Making Barret scream and shout even more, until he eventually says that he's gonna reduce Cloud's pay. They make their way to the main cars to try and relax a bit. Jessie shows Cloud how the rail system and the security works, and then Barrett and Cloud discuss the effect that the Midgar Plate is having on the slums below.

MIDGAR (SECTOR 7)

You get off the train, and your next task is to find AVALANCHE's hideout, the local bar, "7th HEAVEN". It isn't difficult to find, just head left. There is nothing interesting to find, and you wont get into any battles, but it can be intressting to talk to the locals. When you reach the bar, you see Barret kicking all the customers out. He sends you on in, and Cloud is reunited with his childhood friend, Tifa. Tifa is sensitive, and wants to talk, but Cloud tries to act the hard man and keep the conversation down to a "yes/no" variety. If you bought a flower from the girl in the slum earlier, you can give it to Tifa now, or Marlene. Bear in mind that Tifa is also available for a date later....
Barrett asks Cloud how to work materia, if you say you will help him pay attention to the short tutorial. If you don't want to sit through it, it has no bearing on the game.
Barret holds a meeting "down below". To get down, press the OK button on the pinball machine. During the meeting, Barrett upsets Cloud looking back on his days working for the SHINRA, and Cloud tries to storm out. Tifa stops him and asks him if he remembers the promise by the well. A short scene shows Tifa's memory of that day, which sheds some light on the situation, and Cloud agrees to do the next job for the group. The next day, Tifa says she will be joining your party in the latest mission. When you leave the bar, make sure you check out all the buildings. Some gove you helpful advice, and you should have a couple of thousand gil to spend on new iron bangles and some magic for Barret and Tifa. Make sure you have Fire and Cure equipped to Barret, and a new Ice with Tifa. Once you have equipped the iron bangles make sure to sell off your old bronze ones you no longer need. As well as the stats, each piece of equipment has materia slots in it. Each slot can hold one piece of materia. The equipment will have a word under these slots, saying NOTHING/NORMAL/DOUBLE. These are how fast the materia grow and evolve to better materia when they recieve AP. Once you have done all this, head back to he train and climb on board.

MIDGAR (SECTOR 5 REACTOR)

Whilst on the train to the sector fice reactor, Tifa explains that the AVALANCHE fake ID's wont work anymore, so they will have to jump off before the next security checkpoint. However, it comes sooner than expected, and you must make your way to the front of the train before the cars are locked down. Don't worry, just run from one car to the next, and you have plenty of time. However, in one of the cars, you will hear a slight shuffle noise as a man walks past. He's nabbed some gil!! You must turn and talk to him a soon as he has done this if you want it back. Make sure to skip through the conversation quickly so you have enough time to get to the next car. Talking to other passengers here is not a very good idea. When you reach the last car, the timer will stop, and you can talk to Tifa. She will then open the door to the train. Talk to her again and she will jump out. Then go and try to jump yourself.
You will jump off the train and land in the rail tunnel. Barret will tell you which way to head. Run up this way and you will strait away come to the security checkpoint. There is a vent on the left. Go to it. You have three choices, GO DOWN, DON'T GO DOWN, or LOOK INSIDE CLOSELY. You have to go down anyway so you might as well just select GO DOWN. You will then drop inside the ventilation shaft. Make sure to collect the Ether before proceding down the next ladder. Climb down and you will see a ladder, Jessie, and another duct. Ignore the duct. You can talk to Jessie if you want, but then pick up the Potion (look carefully as it is slightly hidden) and go to the other ladder. Climb down and you will find yourself in a large room. Head left and you will find Widge. Go up the ladder behind him. You will be on a series of planks. Go over to the save point, pick up the Tent there and save the game. Go over and talk to Biggs, who will inform you they are pulling out of the mission, and it is up to you. Climb up the small ladder into the duct. You will come out in the reactor. Go over to the big pole on the end of the platform you are on. Slide down and go through the door to the left. From here on it is the same layout as the first reactor. Jump and climb until you reach the next save point. Go through to the bomb, Cloud falls to the floor and has a brief flashback. He recovers quickly and you set the bomb. There is no countdown this time, but it is still time to head to the elevator to escape. !!REMEMBER!! YOU WILL NOT GO BACK UP THE POLE YOU SLID DOWN EARLIER, YOU WILL GO UP THE STAIRS TO REACH THE ELEVATOR!! When you reach the top of the elevator, collect the item from the chest and proceed to the room on the left. You will encounter a series of buttons. You only have to press one. Once Tifa has finished telling you what to do, count about three seconds before hitting the OK button. If you have done it right, the buttons will be pressed simultaneously and a door will open. Go through it to the save point and save your game. If you need to restore alot of HP/MP, use your tent, as you have a boss coming up very soon. When you have saved, proceed down the steps and out the door. There you will find SHINRA soldiers, there are far too many too fight off. You are cornered on the bridge when President Shinra himself stops by to say hello. A few hundred swear words from Barrett later, and you are left to face the new mechanical killing machine...

BOSS: AIR BUSTER
Level: 15
HP: 1200
MP: 0
Weak: Lightning
Win: Titan Bangle
Occurrence: Mako Reactor 5 / Disc 1
Attacks: Machine Gun = 50+ HP
Counter Machine Gun = 20+ HP
Big Bomber = 80+ HP

(THIS ENEMY IS SLOW, BUT HE HAS SOME MEAN ATTACKS. IT IS A GOOD IDEA FOR BARRET TO CURE ONE OF HIS ALLIES AFTER EACH OF AIR BUSTER'S ATTACKS. KEEP CLOUD BATTERING AWAY WITH BOLT, AND TIFA TO USE ICE. USE YOUR LIMIT BREAKS WHEN YOU CAN. TIFA'S LIMIT BREAK CONSISTS OF A SLOT MACHINE. IT WILL SPIN AND YOU HAVE TO TRY AND STOP THE REEL WITH THE OK BUTTON WHENEVER YOU SEE THE WORD "HIT" OR "YEAH!" "YEAH!" WILL DO THE MOST DAMAGE. IF YOU HIT "MISS" YOUR ATTACK WILL NOT WORK)

Air Buster isn't hard to beat, but he explodes after the battle. Cloud is hanging on to the bridge for dear life. As Barret tries to pull Tifa away from the Bridge as the reactor begins to explode, it shakes, and Cloud falls into the abyss....

MIDGAR (SECTOR 5 SLUM)

You awake to find yourself in a church of all places, lying on a rare flower bed. The flower girl you met earlier is kneeling over you. It turns out you came crashing through the roof, which broke your fall. You talk to her for a while and find out her name is Aeris. You can make some choices in the conversation. If you like her over Tifa for dating material, I suggest you be nice. During your conversation you are inturrupted by Reno and some of his soldiers. Reno, a Turk. They want Aeris for some reason, you run to the back of the church to escape onto the roof. Reno and his gang follow you, after a certain point, Aeris falls, and it is up to you what happens from here. Before you start to climb up, it is wise to equip Cloud with the titan bangle you recieved, and give Aeris his old Iron one. Give her some materia, cure and ic eowuld be good for now. When the soldiers approach Aeris, you have the choice either to RUN, HOLD ON A MINUTE, or FIGHT EM. If you just hit Run, Aeris will have to fight eventually. If you are wise and want her to get some EXP, fight all of them. Don't worry, the battles are really easy. Alternately you can tell her to hold on. Then it is your job to run up to the beams holding up the roof and shove barrells onto the enemy.
Fighting these soldiers is very easy though, and the experiance will be valuable. You do not have to fught Reno yet. You make it up onto the roof and talk to Aeris about why the Turks might be after her. Aeris asked Cloud earlier if he would be her bodyguard. He agreed, so you now escort her home. Aeris isn't skilled much in the way of physical attacks, so it might be a good idea to go onto the menu and make sure she is on the back row. This means that she will take less physical damage but also do less. If, like Barret often does, you have a long range weapon, it is not a bad idea to put them on the back row, as you will do the same amount of physical damage while taking less. Jump across the roof tops and head in the direction Aeris indicates. Save at the save point and then head north. There isn't much of use in the slum, but you can go and see the guy in the pipe, or go to the house on the far right and head up the stairs. There you will be able to steal 5 gil from the little kids secret draw. If you do this and come back later, you will see him crying. Awww. Go through the North exit to the slum and you will find yourself in front of Aeris' house. If you look around the gardens you will find a good item and some "cover" materia. Save and go inside when you are ready. You will meet Aeris' mum. When Aries' goes to make the beds, she asks you to leave for sector 7 alone tonight, after Aeris' had asked to accompany you. Incedentally, when Aeris' asks if Tifa is your girlfriend, just select what you feel. It has no bearing on the game. That night, after a dream showing Cloud in another comfy bed, it is time to go. Before leaving the room, pick up the potion and phoenix down from by the door. Aeris is still awake, so you must walk until you are downstairs, otherwise she will hear and put you back to bed. And for gods sake don't pop in her room to say "bye". That's a rookie mistake. When your downstairs you can once again have the freedom of running round. Go back the way you came through the slum and then head west. You will run into...uh oh. Aeris, and she's not a happy bunny. She accompanies you against your wishes, and then it's through the long and windy road of sector 6. It's a difficult road to travel, but just go through the tunnel and up the pole, and you should be fine. Navigate this mini labyrinth, and you find yourself at the sector 6 playground. As Aeris is talking about her first boyfriend, you see Tifa come through the sector 7 gate all dressed up, in a chocobo carridge. This is confusing, so you have to follow the carridge up to wall market...

MIDGAR (WALL MARKET)

Wall Market. A dangerous place...especially for a girl. This is where all the big shoppers in the slums come to buy thier "fancy" clothes. Head to the right first to get to the Hunnybee Inn. Talk to the guy in purple and ask about Tifa. Then go back to the market and head North, until you reach a structure that looks like a huge tent. Go in and head up to the top. Talk to the doorman who says that guys can't go in the Don's Mansion. Cloud refuses to let Aeris go in on her own, so Aeris comes up with a radical solution....

DRESSING UP ALL GIRLY: Yes, Aeris has found the key to the locked mansion door, and it comes in the form of Cloud sporting a nice dress. First of all, head down to the Hunnybee inn. The guy who was pacing outsid before will now hand over his members card, allowing you access. Go in, and it doesn't really matter which available room you take. After your little sleep, go to the room at the top to find the makeup room. Talk to the girl on the far side and have her put make up on you. Mission accomplished, head out and saunter in to the resturant. Order any food, and say it was all right. You will get a pharmacy coupon. The go into the Pharmacy and ask for the digestive. Now, into the dress shop to talk to the attendent. She says she can't get a dress for them because her drunk father makes all the dresses. Next stop the, the bar. Go north until you get there, and first of all go to the door on the far side. Open it and there's a guy who's been on the toilet way too long with a dodgy case of constapation. Give him the digestive and you will get a little something as well. Now go talk to the guy sitting at the bar. Aeris talks him into making the dress, and then describe what you want it to be like. Now go back down to the dress shop. Cloud tries on a dress, but it doesn't look right without a wig. The owner tells you to get a wig from the gym. The gym is opposite the bar you were just in. Go inside, and you have to do squats with the bro to get the nice wig. Just follow the pattern of buttons as it tells you, its really easy. And even if you lose, you still get a concellation wig. If you want something a bit kinky, go to the north eastern shop in the area of the pharmacy, near a guy selling cheap soup. The man says if you check out what they are selling in the vending machine in the inn, you'll get a gift. Go to the inn and stay the night. You can grab something from the vending machine. It doesn't matter which you get. Then go to the man's store and hand over the item. You get your reward just as promised. A bit odd to give that sort of thing to a guy though... Now back to the dress shop. Cloud gets all dressed up and Aeris gets a nice one too at no extra cost. Then head back up to the Don's mansion and, you're in.

MIDGAR ( DON'S MANSION)

You have done well, and been let in to the mansion. First place you want to head is uo the stairs and the room on the far left. There you meet Tifa and find out whats been going on. Make sure to collect the itm from the corner. Then you head up to thr Don's office. He's impressed by his "girls" and chooses one to spend the night with. He usually picks Aeris or Tifa, but if Cloud gets picked, you can say certain things to get very funny reactions from Tifa. If you are not picked however, you are thrown into a room full of Corneo's lackeys. They're easy enough to beat. Make sure to grab the phoenix down in the corner. When they are all dead and gone, go to the room on the far left again again to find Aeris/Tifa. Then bust into the Don's room to save Aeris/Tifa from the Don's hormones. You get some information out of him, and then pick up the hidden hyper behind the bed. As you are leaving the room, the Don asks you a question. Answer however you want. You're gonna fall down the trapdoor anyway...

MIDGAR (SEWERS)

Before you go and do anything else, make sure Tifa has got some magic. Fire will do if Aeris still has Ice and Cure. Then go up the nearest steps to pick up a potion. Head down again and talk to the two girls. Like Aeris says: "At least the worst is over!!!"

BOSS: APS
Level: 18
HP: 1800
MP: 0
Weak: Fire
Win: Phoenix Down
Occurrence: Wall Market Sewers / Disc 1
Attacks: Attack = 30+ HP
Sewer Tsunami = 80+ HP / 30+ HP to him
Reverse Sewer Tsunami = 80+ HP / 15+ HP to him

(APS IS PRETTY EASY. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HIT HIM WITH EVERYTHING AND YOU CURE WHEN YOU GET LOW ON HEALTH. JUST KEEP WACKING HIM WITH FIRE AND LIMIT BREAKS AND HE'LL GO DOWN LIKE A CRIPPLED HELICOPTER, WITH IT'S ROTOR BLADES PITCHED AT VARYING ANGLES TO ONE ANOTHER, CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE OF PHSYCOTIC GUNMEN.)

The next objective is to get out of the sewers. There is only one route, so follow it round. Make sure to pick up and equip the "steal" materia on the way. It is yellow matreia. Also known as "Command Materia". Command materia, when equipped, adds a comand to your battle command menu that have different attacks. Enemy Skill, steal and Sense are a few examples. Each command materia gives you a new in battle command. Unlike the other marteria's. However many green materia's you have equipped, they will all be listed under the "magic" sub-menu. When you are out, you find yourself in the train graveyard.

MIDGAR (SECTOR 7)

Don Corneo told you that the pillar holding up the plate would soon be destroyed, to crush the rebles: AVALANCHE in sector 7. But sector 7 is still here, maybe you can save it? Save your game now.
Go into the first train car and out the other side. Press OK next to the barrell. You will recieve a hi-potion. Then climb the ladder to the roof of the first car and get another hi-potion. Run along the roof until you get to the bent pillar. Use this to run to the ground. Search the barrel near there to get an Echo Screen. A potion awaits you inside the next car. Follow the car to the exit and climb up the ladder. Then climb down the next ladder. Go into the next car and when you exit you will find a potion. In the next section, climb in to the car of the train that you notice. Once it has pushed away the other car, go around the back and get into the next car that you can. This will reverse the train. Then climb up the ladder. Retrieve the Hi-potion and then jump onto the engine that you have just used. Run along it onto the girdir and climb down the ladder. Run west across the station. You will then come to the pillar where a gun battle is blazing above. Cloud and Tifa have to get to the top of the pillar. Save the game and start to head up. You will encounter battles along the way. Use bolt with Cloud and attack with Tifa. When you reach the top, give Barret some materia, and make sure you have enough HP/MP, as the next boss is coming. When you are done, exit the menu and press the OK button.

BOSS: RENO
Level: 17
HP: 1000
MP: 0
Weak: Ice
Win: Ether
Occurrence: Sector 7 pillar
Attacks: Pyramid = Imprisons ally, attack ally to set free, if he imprisons all your allies you loose
Electro-mag Rod = 60+ HP
Spark Bolt = 100+ HP

(RENO ISN'T TOO HARD, BUT HE CAN BE QUITE RESILLIANT. MAKE SURE THAT WHENEVER RENO CASTS A PYRAMID ON A CHARACTER YOU IMMEDIATELY ATTACK IT SO IT GOES AWAY. IF YOU IGNORE IT AND ALL 3 CHARACTERS HAVE BEEN CAUGHT IN THE PYRAMIDS, IT'S GAME OVER. MAKE SURE YOU HIT HIM HARD WITH FIRE, ICE AND LIMIT BREAKS. CROSS-SLASH IS GOOD IF YOU HAVE IT BY NOW. MAKE SURE TO HEAL WHEN YOU GET LOW ON HP.)

Then head to Aeris' house to talk to her "mother" and hear the truth about Aeris. Now it's time to head back to the gun shop in wall market. The gun shop is the building behind the gym. It isn't to difficult to see, as there is a big sign on the front saying "GUN". You might want to stock up on potions etc. while you are here, but save a few hundred gil for the gun shop, as you need to talk to the man servicing the tank, so that you are able to buy the "batteries". Then head to the north-east and talk to the kid in front of the wire. Climb up. When you reach the top, it's a bit of a windy path to get to the first battery holder, but put the battery in when you get there to turn the propeller enough so you can jump onto it. When you have done that, climb up the train track and put in the next battery. Run up the gate and climb the
