WORLD'S SCARIEST POLICE CHASES

Some tips before you begin: never fire your weapons haphazardly,
if you hit a civilians vehicle more than a couple of shots you
will fail the misson, so it's better to hold off and wait for the
right opportunity than take shots that could endanger civilians,
driving, map reading and aiming will come with practice, also
drive in the middle of the road along the white centre lane
markings, this gives you enough space to avoid traffic in your
own lane, and enough to avoid oncoming traffic.
Regarding weapons, it is no secret which are the best, the
machine gun naturally is excellent and the pick of the bunch, the
shotgun is better than the pistol at close range, but the
automatic pistol is excellent from a distance and very accurate,
the handgun being the least effective of them all as regards
damage.
MISSIONS:
The first four missions of the game are training missions, they
are straightforward and easy to follow,
just practice practice practice!
1. PURSUIT COURSE (Shooting prohibited)
Race two laps around the track in the time given without hitting
any cones.
2. BASIC PURSUIT (Shooting prohibited)
Chase the car and ram him until he's wrecked, the car is quite
easy to damage, just ram him or nudge him on his side, its better
to bash and press into his side as that way you can maintain the
contact for longer which does more damage, and enables you to
stay with him, watch out for the turning that goes left, don't
lose ground here, stick with him, it's not difficult with
practice.
3. ADVANCED PURSUIT
With this training mission you get to use a firearm, once you are
granted permission to fire, aim your crosshair and shoot, stay
close and keep firing, the suspect will throw a weapon out, this
mission is excellent training for what you will encounter on
quite a few missions later, note where the weapon was ditched,
but keep chasing him, once you have shot the vehicle to a
standstill, drive back along the train track and look on your map
for where the weapon is, once you get close you will see it
glowing on the track, drive your car up to it and stop over it.
4. EXPERT PURSUIT
A harder training mission this time, again you must race a course
with cones around it, but this time you need to stop at one part
and do a U turn, be careful you don't hit any cones when you
reverse, time isn't too tight in this mission, so you can afford
to drive on the cautious side somewhat, after the U turn drive
round the course to the left, targets will pop up as you drive
by, and you must shoot them, you can afford to ignore one of
these as you only need to hit four of the five targets, and they
are very easy to hit.
5. DUI DUMMY (shooting prohibited)
Do not bother ramming or nudging this car, you will take as much
damage as you give out, just follow closely with the siren on and
eventually his meter will turn red and he will give up.
6. THE CRAZED CAR THIEF (Shooting prohibited)
The same applies in this mission, do not ram, and be careful how
you drive so you don't take damage, just stay close and your
siren will eventually cause him to give up.
7. GANGBANGER DEATHMATCH
Use your map well and get to the location fast, once you arrive
there, spin around quickly and get after the suspects, as soon as
you get close; shoot at them, once the car is stopped get back to
where they dumped the weapon, it will be on your map, and when
you get near it on the road it will glow so it's easy to see,
just drive and stop over it, mission completed!
8. BUS DRIVER GONE BAD (Shooting prohibited)
It's very important to turn around and follow the bus as quickly
as possible, so immediately turn and smash through the white
wooden fencing and turn your siren on, then simply follow the bus
without bashing into it, and your siren will eventually cause him
to give up, if you don't get after him fast enough at the
beginning you won't even nudge his stress bar up for ages; until
you eventually catch him up, then there's a chance he might make
it to the bridge before his stress bar is full.
9. DRUG SMUGGLING SCUM
You have to tail the suspect, watch the distance meter all the
time and stay neither too far nor too close to him, once you have
followed him all the way until he meets with the limo, he will
then start shooting at you, you have to follow him quickly or you
will fail the mission, shoot him up until he's done in, then go
back and retrieve the evidence.
10 RACE AGAINST DEATH (Shooting prohibited)
Make your way to the accident scene as fast as you can, once
there the ambulance will follow you, drive at a reasonable speed
constantly watching your distance meter, you don't want the
ambulance to fall too far behind, the ambulance actually follows
your exact trail as you drive, as if it's programmed that way, so
if you go sliding and crashing all over the place, the ambulance
will too, so avoid traffic and street walls, your pushed for time
and this mission can be quite tight to get to the hospital, but
there is an alternative way, you can head to another hospital on
the map on the central eastern side, completely ignoring the
hospital in the southwest side of the city, this method is
against what the game intends, cheating in a way, but does give
you about a minute to spare.
11 SENTENCE OF FIRE (Shooting prohibited)
To complete this mission you must defuse 4 bombs in different
parts of the city, to do this, tackle them in this order:
go first to the bomb at the uppermost part of the map first, then
head back down working your way down the map as you go, when you
come to the third bomb, you will have to drive round to the left
of it and up a slight hill, as that is the only way to get to it,
once you have defused this third bomb, drive off the ledge there
back onto the street below, don't go back down the way you came,
you then need to head left to make it to the fourth and final
bomb, this mission is tight for time, but is very exciting to
complete.
12 NOSEY NEWS VAN
This is a tricky mission, because it is in two parts, and you
need to make the health of you car last out, in the first part
you have to lose a nosey TV news van that is poking its nose in
and will blow the cover of the operation, start by driving off
and take the second turn on the left, once you get halfway up
that road, spin and do a U turn and then drive back round the
lamp posts there on the grass, this can cause the van to spin and
get stuck or hit a car for a bit which can give you a lead on it,
keep going back down the road, then take a left then take another
left, drive up this road and then take a left, you can usually
shake the van this way, but there are other ways to do it, I
have found this way to be the most effective, the trick is to do
all this without bashing your own vehicle up too much, so you can
get through the second part of this mission.
Once you have got rid of the news van go back to where the
mission started, and this time chase the criminal in his car and
shoot at him with the heavy handgun or the machine gun, avoid
hitting other vehicles, and look after your car as you drive
after him, once you have shot him down the mission is
completed.
13 THE STOOL PIGEON
You will be pursued in this mission and need to get to your
destination in one piece, take the route to the freeway on your
left then drive along it, soon you will notice you have a tail,
and they will catch you and ram you, expert driving is needed
here to avoid being rammed too much, although some is
ineviteable, there is one part of the road where it bends and you
need to be able to take this part without too much damage, as
your pursuer will try to ram you particularly hard at this point,
once past this bit it is a long straight road where you will have
to take a right to get to your destination, trouble is you are
going at full speed and need to slow down somewhat to be able to
take the corner, the hard part is if you slow down you are asking
to be rammed, you need to get over the other side of the road,
slow a little then brake and slide in an arc to make it round the
corner, if you can get into the next street unscathed you are
home free, if you shoot past the turning, or more likely get
rammed past so you miss it, you need to quickly drive back and
get down the road, this mission like so many in the game is down
to practice, skill and some luck.
14 TANK RUSH
Make your way to the tank, get your machine gun ready along the
way, once you meet it, spin round and then immediately start
firing on it, get right up behind it, that way its cannon cannot
hit you, but you must look out for
other cars around this point, if you hit one you fail, once you
turn left, there is less traffic around, when you turn left
again, you must get your car right up and press it against the
back of the tank, firing all the time, keep the accelerater on
full, but don't ram it, this way you cannot be hit and you will
eventually disable the tank.
Carefully turn around as you may be quite damaged by now and go
to the APC, once in; make your way to meet
the 2nd tank, follow the intended route back onto the main road
in this mission, but then instead of taking a right,
like the arrow instructs you to, go past and take the right after
that one, it should be the one just before a tunnel,
turn around and wait here, until the tank goes past you, then
follow it and get a fix on it, the key to disabling the 2nd tank
is to keep far back from it, this way it takes lots of damage and
rarely hits you back, but you will find with other
traffic about the place your crosshair goes off by itself onto
other targets or simply misses the tank, keep checking
this and put it back onto the tank if need be, there is no rush,
sooner of later you will disable the 2nd tank.
15 NOTHING IS EVER ROUTINE
This mission starts where you are chasing a suspect, don't bother
shooting at him as it's not necessary, you will soon know why,
once he turns left, and you drive towards a dead end, you will
find you have been led to a trap and there will be two of his
fellows waiting there in cars, who will chase you and try to ram
you, you have to drive to the police station to safety, the trick
to doing this is to; when you see the dead end, don't drive right
to the very end of the road, slow down and reverse, then once you
have reversed into the area what will trigger them to chase you,
you don't have to waste time turning the car around, this gives
you a helpful lead on them, now you must drive as fast as you can
back to the police station, taking a left, don't drive back from
where you came, as you go along there you will see on the map
that the shortest route is to take a left, but don't, because
there is a metal barrior across this road, even though the map
indicates the way is clear, so keep on driving heading straight
up the road, and make your way to the station this way, the
suspects will shoot at you as they chase you, hopefully you have
got enough of a lead on them to not let them get close enough to
ram you, the damage you would receive from gunshots and ramming
would be too much for your vehicle, so make sure you stay well
ahead of them and you will make it to the station safely.
16 JACKED UP JAILBIRD
Very straightforward, just machine gun this guy; as usual,
preferably on the side of his car, and he will be disabled quite
soon.
17 LOU FERRIS RETURNS
Make your way carefully to the bomb area, the bomb is the one on
the far right, just drive close to it without hitting the
dustbin, just nudge the red ring carefully then immediately stop
and the bomb will be defused, then drive back up where you came
down from onto the main freeway and wait for Ferris to appear,
get right onto him and hit him on his side with your machine gun
and he disables very quickly.
18 BRAZEN BANK BANDITS
Do not drive forward at the start of the mission because there is
spike strip across the road that will burst your tyres, so do a U
turn and then head down the alley on the right, you have to chase
the red sports car first, you can actually make the main road
ahead of it, so time it so you can be right behind him at a
decent speed as he comes past you as you exit the alleyway, this
sports car can be damaged quite quickly by the machine gun, you
need to shoot at it from behind then when you gain on it, shoot
at it from the side, this seems to damage it much more, as the
sports car comes to take the bend at the end of the road before
it takes the turning on the right, you can really get a lot of
side on shots at it, keep following it, it is quite slow at this
part and eventually you should be able to finish it off, if your
having trouble you can end up following it all the way up a long
road where eventually it will come to a stop near a wall, this
time you really have to finish it and be careful not to damage
your own car, once the red sports car is dealt with you then need
to get after the van, make your way to it by going towards the
blip on the radar, eventually you will see it just as you get to
a part of the freeway that goes into a short tunnel , if your
quick you may even be ahead of the van, and it will come from the
left hand side from a park, don't bother chasing it in the park,
just wait for it on the road, you need to take it out quickly,
the suspect will throw out a weapon, you should make a mental
note of where it was exactly, as you will be coming back for it
later, keep on chasing the van shooting it with your most
damaging weapon, once it is disabled go back and retrieve the
weapon the suspect dumped, this can be a tricky mission where
time is tight, practice will make perfect here.
19 30 MINUTES OR LESS
First off, avoid hitting the lamp post just as you start off, if
you hit this you very likely fail because you lose sight of the
van, an instant fail, so start off cleanly and chase the van,
it's important to get as many shots in as you can on this van but
not at the expense of taking risks, if you hit other cars you
will likely fail, keep shooting with the pistol continually
whenever you can by holding down the trigger, I must stress that
you need to make every shot hit in this mission as there isn't
really enough ammo, and you will have to carefully nudge him into
walls to make the rest of his car damage enough to complete this
mission,. if you disable it nice and quickly you will have enough
time to get back to recover the weapon it drops along the way.
20 FINAL SHOWDOWN
This is fairly easy if you can get past your fellow police car
quite early on; that chases Lou Ferris, once you have got past or
nudged it out of the way, you can attack Ferris' car from the
side with your machine gun, if you keep on like this he is
disabled in no time, if you cannot get to him early on because of
the other police car in the way of fire, then it is hard to
catch him up and get a side on shot, the lanes get narrower and
other traffic gets in the way, so make sure you get ahead of your
colleagues, then it will be considerably easier.
