Retro Game Walkthroughs for Grand Prix 3 (PC Games)

Here is my personal walkthrough of the perfect lap around the most difficult racing circuit in the world, both in real life and in Grand Prix 3 - Monte Carlo, Monaco. I have compiled this lap after thousands of laps of practice, with hundreds of different car setups and several wins.

The Monte Carlo track is th tightestand slowest on the Grand Prix 3 calendar, and therefor requires the most grip handling response ino each corner.

Car Setup in general:
It is essential that you run a MAXIMUM DOWNFORCE wing setup, and once you become moore confident with this, you may want to reduce the rear wing angle slightly to increase straight line speed although this ill cause you car to slide more into the few fast corners Monaco presents or when accelerating out of corners.

A step by step guide of the lap:
From the start/finish straight there is a short run up to the first corner. Brake hard and sharpley initially at the point in which you can just see around the corner to your right. Having braked for this, eas off the brakes slightly to prevent the car's brakes from locking up and the car from going straight on. As you ease off, turn carefully into the right hander and relase the brakes, and apply the throttle once you can see the straight that you are approaching.

Go full speed up the long incline until the track goes left, in which you brake about 75% just as your front left wheel goes in line with the HSBC sponsor banner on the inside. Then release the brakes and apply about 50% brake again as you just reach the ZEPTER sponsor sign, whill off the throttle completely. As you car begins to slide, apply full throttle again and turn right into the bend to correct th car from sliding into the barriers.

Accelerate down the hill and brake late for the 90 degree right hander. Release the brakes before you turn in and apply about 50% throttle through the bend. Your then faced with a very sharp left handed hairpin which you must brake very hard and then gradually apply small amounts of throttle while turning hard left. Be carefull not to throttle too much as you exit the hairpin or else you may spin, especially as there is a small lump in the track on yor right which can upset the handling.

Keep to the lft and brake slightly befor turning right for the right hander, letting the car drift left to be ready for a tighter right hander that requires more breaking and only us of the throttle once you can see the tunnel.

Full throttle through the tunnel and keep on the right hand side as you sweep downhill towards a very tight chicane. Brale heavily in a straight line to avoid spinning and then apply small amounts of throttle as you turn left and then immediately right. Apply as much throttle as is possible but be very carerful of th wall as you exit the chicane, steer right and ease off the throttle as you attempt to pass it.

HAving passed the chicane section, its full throttle and keep to the right until you reach the end of the grandstand on the right, in which you break steadily once, then ease off the brakes and re-apply them almost instantly to avoid the wheels locking. Turn left throught the 90 degrees corner and be careful of the wall opposite you as you exit, but throttle to the maximum as you exit, and you should find you narrowly miss the wall.

Ease off the throttle and turn quickly (left-right) through the chicane without braking, and be carefull of cutting the chicane and being black flagged. After exiting the chicane, keep to the left and brake early and cautiously for the quick left-right complex of bends and apply ythe trottle gently to prevent te back end of the car from stepping out and hitting the barriers.

A quick dab of full throttle as you exit and keep to the right, then brake as you turn left for another tight complex of bends. Gently apply the throttle while being careful not to hit the wall as you exit on the left, if you think you are going to hit it, do not brake as it is likely you will lose steering and hit it. Instead, come off the throttle and avoid it with the steering on its own.

Keep to the left again as you leave and brake early by taking a quick stab at the brakes to make the back of the car slide. This helps you to get round th tight right hander. Remember to apply the throttle cautiously as there is another slight bends where you must steer right slightly to avoid, and then apply maximum throttle away down the start/finish straight, where you keep right until you pass the start/finish line in which you should then move left to start another lap in the best possible way.

Hopefully, having taken this advice you have produced a very competitive time, if it doesn't, then you may want to try altering the setup of you car or simply braking later, turning with more accuracy or just simply practicing it.

I hope this guide brings you Monte Carlo success!
