Empire Earth - Walkthrough for Random Map Games
===============================================

What looks like a simple RTS game can turn into an extremely demanding and difficult adventure. This walkthrough will cover points on how to win a game against any computer opponent (easy, medium or hard).

First, I'll go over what the difficulties do to the game, apart from the obvious.

Easy - Doesn't expand that much unless you let them do so. After about 10 minutes of playing, they throw most of their military at you. Then there is a gap of time where they are building up an army again for another attack. Never underestimate them though, especially if you are a beginner.
You give more damage and take less damage.

Medium - They should really be called Hard because if you crank the difficulty up to this, your enemy can make your life hell if you make one bad move. Tactics are EXTREMELY important here; even if you use the cheat for 100,000 of each resource and you build a gigantic army you'll still find it hard to win. They will expand as much as they can and will constantly attack your efforts at expansion.
You give and take equal amounts of damage

Hard - Not recommended for sore losers or people with weak hearts. This difficulty will give you one hell of a bad time; they attack with coordination that will leave you paranoid about any bits of your base you can't see. Their initial attack is quick; they can slink into your base with fully upgraded soldiers and will slaughter your citizens relentlessly, then they'll bugger off when your army finally gets to the battlefield.
You give less damage and take more damage.

Structure of your base and Expansion
====================================

As soon as the game starts, start sending your citizens off in 3's and 4's to resource points.
Try to get as much food as you can so you can build more and more citizens, the first 5 minutes of the game should be collecting food and grinding out citizens from your Capital.
Send these citizens to start building towers in a circle/arc around your Capital; the arc can be as big or as small as you want. Try to aim for an arc that goes around every resource you can get (don't worry about food, you can build a farm in the later epochs).
This arc will be your boundary to the base; it will be the frontline for your military.
Hopefully, if you've sent your citizens off to mine all the resources, you should have plenty of resources. So while your citizens build the towers, get a couple of citizens to build 2 of every military building (preferably next to each other, so barracks go next to barracks etc.)
Now select 2 of the same type of building and click on the units you want to build, this should then produce double the amount of units (but of course at double the cost).
By now, your enemy is probably on their way to attack you. Ready your army for a battle and keep an eye out for airplanes (if they are available), build halftracks if you need to.
With a bit of practice, you will be able to repel the first attack with ease. Keep building AA guns, military units and citizens. Also, try to widen your arc of towers, this is explained in expansion (below).

Expansion is THE way to winning games. It is very difficult to win a game just by attacking from your main base because your computer enemy will send a few citizens over to build the buildings they lost from your attack. So you need to build more bases closer to your enemy.
I have classed bases into 2 categories, one is a military base and the other is a civil base.
Military bases are bases that are close to your enemy which are solely aimed at attacking. These bases can also redirect your enemy's attacks to attack the closest base, make sure the closest base is a military base otherwise your going to see some citizen thrashing.
Civil bases should preferably be a good distance away from your enemy, these bases are aimed at collecting resources and if it is a well developed base: producing citizens.

Wonders should also be included in expansion, but be extremely careful because your enemy won't be pleased about it. They will attack even harder and with more units, but if you can fight off the main brunt of the attack you can survive anything else after that.

How to Attack
=============

If you can, send some atomic bombers to flatten a few buildings or a mass of enemy units otherwise you'll have to find a way to get into your enemy's base without getting killed.
Going into the base through the back door, so to speak, is a good way of doing some damage. But what really does the damage is raiding parties. These should be comprised of several fast soldiers on horseback, or several tanks. Group the raiding party as one and simply send them in, attack and then run away before your enemy can attack them. Attack citizens and your enemy's civil bases if you can, this does the most damage...no economy, no military.
Use the move-attack command to plan out your military moves, send your units in a planned direction so that they have a better chance of surviving.
Fully upgrade your units so that they are the best as they can get, focus your upgrades on what you really need them for. If you don't have a clue what you need them for, then upgrade them on everything equally.

Try not to create masses of army because it is not as effective as a small attacking party of 10/15 units. Also, use every unit in your attacking party to the very end, don't give up and let them die, keep changing targets and do as much damage as possible.

Defence
=======

Towers, AA guns and some military units to protect the base are a good idea for defence but medium and hard enemies can cut through cheap defence like a hot knife on butter.
Keep individual military units next to a tower or simply leave them standing alone, your enemy will generally aim for these smaller kills and that will distract them from your main base.
AA Guns are fragile and need good protecting, especially in the Atomic ages with those pesky atomic bombers.
Have larger defence groups that can step in if a battle is getting a little too rough. In the water, keep your submarines and boats near the edge of the land. Also build towers on the VERY edge of the land near the water, that way they can get a good range to attack submarines and boats.
You'll find your enemy's attacks are slightly less offensive if your defence is sparse, trust me...but keep a big backup defence army if you don't.
Air supremacy is not much of a problem, so keep your planes in the airport. Helicopters should be used to thwart what could be a dangerous attack on your base. Use groups of helicopters like a raiding party, hit and run.

Finishing off a game
====================

After crushing your enemy's military, you need to send in ALL of your military to search for remaining citizens and buildings. Search all 4 corners of the map, as citizens can be a big problem if they are allowed enough time to build military buildings.

That’s it! It’s a short walkthrough but this game is all about experience. Hopefully this should help beginners at this game or give more tips to advanced players.

Empire Earth is a tough game, even for the most experianced gamesrs. This walkthrough which will be viewed in different parts weekly will help you compleat the campaigns. If you have any questions please E-Mail me at [email protected] Be exact about what game and what level you are asking about.

Greek Campaign - The Early Helladic People

You loose if Hierakles dies, Kalkas dies, you don't have any citizens left, you can't produce anymore or the dock is destroyed before you gain dock technology.

For 5 civ points - Control Troas Dock
For 5 civ points - Destroy 2 Dorian Stables
For 15 points civ points - Victory

Once you've got enough resources you can advance to the next age. Have as many warriors as you can afford when you go to attack. Make sure you have enough citizens too. Also have pleanty of wood stock piled before you attack. You've not to destroy Troas, all you need to do is get control of the dock. Build a raft straight away and set sail to new land. There are patrolling warships out sea, you can outrun them or attack them with your own if you want to make any. Or use a hurricane to defend your raft.

Once you've set sail make about 7 new citizens at your first settlement. Keep them collecting resources. When you land or your new island make sure you have atleast 3-4 warriors not including you hereos. Every few mins they send horsemen to harass you. You can go destroy their stables or just leave them. When you've built your new settlment turn it into a towncentre. Now build a 2 barraks near the frount lines and a temple near the back. You get more civ points if you wipe the dorians out, remember.

That concludes this part. the next part will be out next week.

Good Luck. Empire Earth 2 is now available to buy in stores.
