Retro Game Walkthroughs for Wipeout Fusion (PlayStation 2)

WipEout Fusion walkthrough for the PlayStation 2:

1 - Certain weapons can be aimed using your rear view targeting system, which enables your weapons to locate and lock-on to an AI approaching you. This is a great way of getting them before they get you – More like a sneak-up surprise attack, and looks really cool when accomplished, too.

2 - When entering a challenge where you must defeat 1 or more ships to earn a medal and unlock further challenges, try to finish one lap, racing behind the AI, observing their shield gauge – This way, they won’t be able to attack – Let’s just hope the AI do not know of my hints regarding rear view attacks, (laughs). Anyway…after surviving an easy lap, stop in the energy filed (pit-lane). Wait here for an average time of possibly 2 laps. Waiting here will not only protects your ship from being a target, but also give you a break to have a Kit-Kat. Okay, so you have waited for a lap or two to go by and you want to get back in the race…(First things first – get rid of the Kit-Kat because break time is over!)…
Now…once you are back on the track, you will notice that almost every other ship has taken damage. With your shield gauge topped up, simply finish off the AI with everything you’ve got. It should only take a couple of hits for them to go down, considering their shield gauge is now low. You also have a greater advantage using this method because the AI ships are so badly damaged, they can’t even turn successfully, which creates them to slam into walls and other ships, therefore, destroying their own selves. Even though it makes it easier on you, try to prevent them from doing this, because you must destroy at least one ship by yourself, rather than allowing the AI to crash and burn.
Only make sure that when you enter the pit-lane, your shield gauge is at maximum capacity, because you can’t recharge in ‘Challenge’ mode – Trust me…this idea works EVERY time, without fail.

3 - In most challenges, mainly the challenges in this case, the AI ships have been programmed to start the race in a certain fashion. Try and memorise their position and their movement as soon as the commentator bellows, “GO!” After remembering their positions clearly enough to defeat them, restart the race…and weave past areas where they don’t intersect.

4 - Some turnings can get really difficult – If you aren’t able to use your airbrakes in time because the turnings caught you by surprise, try using the airbrakes on the turning, rather than using them before the turning appears. You will notice that your ship scrapes along the barriers instead of crashing intro them. You may lose speed this way, but it definitely beats crashing and stopping every five seconds.

5 - Most times during a race, you will need to slow down to prevent your ship from getting damaged when it comes to AI ships ahead of you. You never know when they are going to break or speed up, as there are no break lights; after all, this is the future, you know…
All you must do at times like this is to hold down both airbrakes that will give your ship an emergency stop. It takes a split second to slow down, but then it’s…STOP! That’s how great the use of those airbrakes can be. But be aware, that as soon as you accelerate, other ships will pass you by in a jiffy. And one more thing regarding the airbrakes in this type of situation…always make sure that you have a clear rear view, so when you perform that emergency stop manoeuvre, no ship is behind you to crash in to.

6 - And last, but certainly not least…

There is plenty of time to defeat the AI ships during the challenges, where you are required to beat more than 1 ship for certain medals and extras. All you have to do here is simple…
Pick a nice spot on the track…standby, waiting for the right moment to attack…and finally, the first visual of an enemy craft…hunt ‘em down – just be sure to have a fast, heavy-duty weapon ready to fire them with, or the whole trip would have been for nothing.
This tactic is more like one of those, what do you call them…em…oh yeah…‘stakeouts’ – You hide behind the ‘energy field’, see the enemy approaching, and then…chase them down with your weapon.

Well...I hope you found this walkthrough helpful.

Oops! I almost forgot one more thing…

It’s not actually a tip or a walkthrough, but…

All games, not only WipEout Fusion; especially games in the racing genre can be completed with ease and excitement, not to mention style, right? – So if you really want your adrenaline pumping at speeds over 1000 MPH, simply select the track theme, “Funny Breaks”, by ‘Orbital’ (press select durig the game and choose track 15 - track 17 is also very good). I know it all comes down to what music theme you prefer, but believe me when I tell you that this particular beat is THE beat for THIS game. No matter what league you choose to race in, this incredible, adrenaline-fuelled theme always moves accordingly to the gameplay; your turns, your breaks, your pit-stops, your crashes…and on top of all of that, it will always keep you hanging on the edge of your seat!
