Retro Game Walkthroughs for LMA Manager 2002 (PlayStation 2)
Submitted By: Trish
This is my walkthrough to the Transfer Market for a Premier
League manager in their first season with limited
resources.....

Starting out in LMA Manager 2002 with an average team, high
boardroom expectations and limited money can be daunting, so
here's a guide on who to buy and who to avoid in the Transfer
Market:

Every team needs young talented players to lift the team, whilst
at the same time growing stronger in the training ground. Here's
a list of players under 20, costing less than 5 million, who will progress rapidly in training, that any premiership team will be able to attract:

N.Weaver- Manchester City- Goalkeeper
T.Bramble- Ipswich Town- Centre Back
D.Drpic- Dinamo Zagreb- Centre/Right Back
G.ONeil- Portsmouth- Centre Midfield

If you can afford to splash out a little bit more on a player,
my suggestions for a young player with a high skill level are:

S. Ishizaki- AIK (Sweden)- Right Midfield

Ishizaki has a high technique skill level and can take corners
and free kicks

G. Lovchev- Spartak Moscow- Centre Forward

There are a couple of other players that you should also look
at, as these players may not have a high skill level at the
beginning of the game, but soon become a very worthy addition to
any squad. My favourite players in this section would be:

P. Collen- Feyenoord- Centre/Right Back
F. Ljungberg- Arsenal- Left/Centre/Right Midfield

These players do not cost a whole lot, and Ljungberg often appears in the Out of Contract section or is transfer listed at the start of a new game.

Every team needs a player with the captaincy skill to raise the
moral of the squad. I found a gem of a player to fill this role
for my squad in Division 2! The player is:

S. Shtaniuk- Stoke City- Centre Back

This player only costs around 2.5- 3 million and has a low wage
demand also. Even though he is a division 2 player he has a more
than adequate skill level to play in the Premiership. He is 28
years old so he will have a good 5-7 years to retirement.

I've come across a couple of players whilst playing LMA Manager
2002 that have a high skill level, but who seem to be forever
injured. I would advise you to be wary of buying these players,
because even though they are strong players, they spend more
time with the physio than on the pitch. These players are:

D. Dunn- Blackburn Rovers- Left/Centre Midfield
C. Itandje- RC Lens- Goalkeeper

Don't forget to check the Out of Contract list at the start of
each new season. You'll be surprised at who you can snap up for
free there! Remember though, that you have to pay the full
transfer fee for players under 24 years of age!

Happy bargain hunting!

Mr. Ms Magical Managerial Makeover!

Discovering good youth players;
Dear LMA Managers, A lot of you are looking for guidance in
purchasing up and coming stars on LMA Manager 2002. Well I have
decided to give you all a helping hand. I will give tips for
scouting out good players while there young and also give
examples of players your good old Mr. M has already discovered.
Well first things first, would you all like to have the knack
that Mr. M has in finding players? I will now share my tips with
you in an exclusive walkthrough.

Well many of you asking, where can I find a good striker?-Well
Mr. M looks out for certain specialities in players depending
upon there position. For a striker, the player needs to have
good shooting skills (7+), Technique (7+) and Heading (6+). But
most important (especially for Strikers) is Pace (8+) and
Intelligence (8+). A good Example of this is D. Ashton from
Crewe, J. Defoe from West Ham, B.Zamora from Brighton, M.Bucher
from RC Lens, G. Petrov from Lokomotive Plovdic, and D.Cisse
from AJ Auxerre.

Where can I find a good midfielder?-When looking for good
Midfielders, Its best to use players for specific positions, ie.
a winger wont need good Marking or Tackling as much as a central
Midfielder, so look out for this. A general Midfielder will need
to be a good all rounder. Tackling (6+), Passing (7+), Technique
(7+), / Shooting skills (6+) and pace (8+) are good for an
Attacking Midfielder. For a Defensive midfielder Tackling (8+),
Marking (7)+ and Heading (7+) are recommended. A good example of
players are E.Costa from Bordeoux, R. Van der Valart from Ajax,
Y. Vylkanov from CSKA Sofia and J. Stewart (extremely
recommended) from Leicester City.

Where can I find a good defender?-Defenders depending on your
tactics are the easiest players to find. The basic skills needed
for them are Tackling (7+), Marking (7+), Heading (7+) and good
Passing (6+) would help. Some of the players that your Uncle
Timmy has found are D.Drpic from Dinamo Zagreb, H. Omokoh from
Dinamo Kiev, T. Bramble from Ipswich and H .Cornelis from Club
Brugge.

Where can I find a good goalkeeper?-For Goalkeepers, its quite
tricky, You need at least a good all rounder with every skill at
least ,6+, the likes of Diving, Awareness and Agility need to be
around at least, 8+. Good Goalkeepers I've found are C.Itandje
from RC Lens and P. Deckers from Beveren. For an absolute
brilliant goalie with a low wage save up a little bit of money,
go to Toulouse in the French National league and buy C.Revault.
It quotes that his valuation is around about £4million but to
snap him up, you will have to offer about £5.2-£5.3million. This
may seem a little high but Toulouse will not let him go for
anything less. Besides that he is only on £2,000 WAGE!!

The players that I have tried to show are not too expensive and
will not break the bank, They should make a nice little profit
in the kitty. Also when I say (7+), this refers to players who
are young and still have time to develop, it does not mean
players who have reached the potential. Here are my rated(best)
players (in no particular order):

Q Fortune(ManU), M Foe (Lens???France), T Bramble(Ipswich T), M
Gray(Sunderland), Y Titov(Spartak Moscow???Russia), C
Reyna(Sunderland), J Koumas(Tranmere), O Hargreaves(Bayern
Munich), K Philips (Sunderland), A Annenakov(Slovakia/Russia) S
Wiltord(Arsenal), R Crookes(Tottenham 2003), D Johnson(
Nottingham Forest), A Gray(Nottingham Forest), J
Cureton(Reading), J Dreyer(Stevenage Borough), L
Buxton(Portsmouth), T Sorenson(Sunderland), J Woodgate(Leeds
Utd), J Terry(Chelsea),

These Player are all good :
Players To Buy K. Dyer, Midfielder ( Newcastle Utd ) Cafu,
Defender ( AS Roma ) H. Larsson, Striker ( Celtic ) C. Vieri,
Striker ( Inter ) R. Van Nistelrooy, Striker ( Man Utd ) L.
Figo, Attacking Mifielder ( Real Madrid ) G. O Neil, Midfielder
( Portsmouth ) S. Campbell, Defender ( Arsenal ) C. Revault,

League ) O. Metzelder, Defender ( Borrusia Dortmund ) M. Klose,

League ) F. Cannavaro, Defender ( Parma ) P. Cannavaro, Defender
( Verona ) K. Miller, Striker ( Wolves ) J. Cabalerro, Striker (
Dundee ) S. Deisler, Midfielder ( Hertha Berlin ) Marcelinho,
