DavidJ's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 Guide

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 has taken the Game Boy Advances abilities to the maximum making it a superb game, but some parts are fiendishly difficult! The levels are much bigger than Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 making it incredibly hard to find all the
S-K-A-T-E letters or do certain tricks. This guide will tell you everything you need to know.

FOUNDRY:

1. High Scores
High Score-10,000
Pro Score-30,000
Sick Score-60,000

The high scores are relatively easy to get here. A good place to rack up points is the half pipe straight-ahead o the starting point. It’s quite long so you don’t have to worry too much about bailing out off of the end of the pipe. For the more adventuress of you there are some pipes around the place ready to be grinded, but these aren’t as long as in later levels.

2. Un-Jam 5 Valves

I’m doing this first as it unlocks a new upper area. All the valves are on pipes on the walls. You un-jam them by grinding along the pipes they are on. The first valve is just to the right of the start on the wall. Then go strait forward and go past the elevator shaft until you get to two quarter pipes along side the wall. The second valve is just above the pipe on the right hand side of it. Next, carry on going strait forward and up the ramp. At the top you’ll see the valve on the wall. Grind it. The next one is along the far wall from the start on the right hand side of the lava fall, watch out for the fiddly steps. One more to go now. Head back towards the start, going down the middle of the area. You will see three pipes running over a wide half pipe. Grind along the middle one with the valve on it.

3. Empty the lava pools

Time to go up! Go to the elevator and you’ll reach the upper area. Go forward and turn left. You’ll need to gather up enough speed so grind along the railing in the middle of the walkway and jump over the small gap onto a further part of the walkway. Keep going forward and you will come to a small ramp. Jump over that onto another platform and, keeping on forward, jump off that. You will land on a higher up area that is situated at the far end on the area from the start. There are several ramps here, but travel to the left and you should see a big switch on the wall above the quarter pipe. Perform a lip trick on it and you will complete the objective.

4. Find the hidden tape

Stay in that top area. Go to the top of the magma falls and there will be a small ramp and the tape will be just beyond it. Ollie off the ramp and grab it!

5. Collect S-K-A-T-E

The –S- is located just outside the elevator. Grind along the edge, with the stripy yellow and black, and Ollie up to get it. The –K- is just up the slope forward from the S. Grind up the rail in the centre of the slope and Ollie off the end of it. The –A- is just in front of the magma fall. Just Ollie over the gap. The –T- is further back to the start. Go down the rout on the left side of the area and grind along the side railing where it is. Finally the –E-. Just carry on forward and Ollie up the back of the half pipe near the beginning.

There’s a further two objective that you need to complete but the tricks are different for each skater and are fairly strait forward.

Stat Points:

1. Above one of the emptied lava pools. Ollie up and get it
2. Above the second drop of the magma fall in the lower area. Ollie across to it from one of the half pipes to either side of it.
3. Ollie just after the pipe of the final valve.
4. Up in the upper area. Jump after grinding along the rail on the first walkway.
5. Ollie off of the half pipe near the start on the right side of it.

Deck: This is located just out side of the elevator. Use the half pipe near the beginning of the level and, with enough speed, Ollie off the left of the pipe.

SUBURBIA:

1. High Scores
High Score-35,000
Pro Score-70,000
Sick Score-120,000

It’s harder to rack up points in this level as everything is very sparse. There is a good area behind the villa but that’s too far away. The best thing to do is to use the huge drain things just to the left and right of the start. You’ll get plenty of air but watch out for the square bit that stick out!

2. Help the Thin Man

With this you have to get an axe to the thin man. This is easy. The axe is lying on a low brick wall to the left of the start. Then get to the thin man outside his mansion without bailing. If you crash you lose the axe and have to go back to the wall and get it again. Once this is done you unlock the area behind the Thin Man’s house.

3. Feed the hungry Hobo

First you have to grab a hotdog from the BBQ situated behind the fancy villa. The little beginning cut scene shows you where it is. Then you have to find the Hobo. This is quite hard as he wears clothes the same colour as the ground he’s sitting on, so he blends in and it’s hard to see him. You’ll find him in the bottom left corner of the area, left from the start. He’s not in the big drain, but leant up against one of the buildings.

4. Smash 5 Pumpkins

One pumpkin is just up the quarter pipe to the left of the start. Once you’ve got it go a bit further down in the direction of the road until you get to the UTOPIA sign. Here turn left and you will find another pumpkin at the top of two-quarter pipes that are back to back. Next head up to the tin mans house. There’s another just to the right of the door. There’s another out at the front of the villa to the left of where the gates start, and the final one is round the back of the villa just behind the empty pool.

5. Find the hidden tape

Go to the area behind the Thin Man’s house. You’ll have to Ollie left from the Quarter pipe down the ally to get in. You’ll see some gravestones just north of the first pool you land in. You have to grind along those, Ollie up to the roof of the small house and grind along the edge then jump at the end to get the tape.

6. Collect S-K-A-T-E

The –S- is on a telephone wire. Go down the road to the UTOPIA sign and follow the wire connected to it. You’ll see the S in the middle of the wire. Go up the ramp of the house the wire is connected to. Go to the two-quarter pipes that are back to back where you found one of the pumpkins. Go up it and jump to the left where the -K- is. Then head back in the direction of the UTOPIA sign and keep going to the construction site. There’s a quarter pipe right by the road. Jump up it to get the letter -A-. Next, head towards the right side of the villa. There will be a small-bricked bit on the slop between the villa and the Thin Mans house. The -T- is in the air just after it. Grind along it and Ollie up to the letter. Next move back round to the front of the house. The final letter, the –E-, is on the plank of wood going through the gap in the fence.

Stat Points:

1. In the pool in the construction area.
2. Up a quarter pipe, on the right hand side behind the villa.
3. Up the quarter pipe of the house that the Hobo is sitting against.
4. Up the quarter pipe used to get behind the Thin Man’s house.
5. Up two quarter pipes back to back to the south of the steps leading up to the Thin Man’s house.

Deck: Down the ally to the right of the villa

Rio: Championship No.1

It’s all down to doing tricks for this one. There’s plenty of ramp and things to grind. Just go for it and if you muck up try again. It’s not that hard to get a medal on this level.

Stat Points:

1. Go strait down from the star and over the quarter pipes until you get to a strait ramp sloping down. The stat point is just above this. Use one of the quarter pipes on either side to jump up to it.
2. Go left and down after that. You’ll see two bars running across a gap with the stat point just above it. Again use one of the quarter pipes to jump up to it.
3. The next one is at the far end of the area near the road on the right had side. Use the quarter pipe to get up to it.
4. Right at the beginning. Grind along the sign and down the rail, then jump to get the Stat Point.

AIRPORT:

This level’s all about grinding. There are so many brilliant places to pull off amazing grinds. Unfortunately there’s not many suitable quarter pipes.

1.High Scores
High Score-55,000
Pro Score-110,000
Sick Score-200,000

200,000!!!! Seems like a huge amount. The trick on this level is to find the best places to grind. The blue round things with the plant in the middle are always good to grind as you can also jump between them. Another great place is the baggage collection things, as you can just go round and round. Also there’s strait bit for pulling off kick tricks.

2.Find the hidden tape

Skate up the quarter pipe directly behind you on to the ledge. Try grinding it first then jumping onto the ledge to get there. Skate to the right to the end of it and turn right. Once you get to the end of this ledge jump to the tape .

3.Bring tickets to the family

First grind along the ticket place to the right of the starting place. Then travel all the way down to the lowest area. You will find the family waiting between the two baggage collection points. Just ram into one of them to complete the objective.

4.Find the lost skateboard

`With this you have to ram into all 5 suitcases on the baggage collection points at the bottom of the area. You will find the skateboard in to 5th case. This completes the objective and also gets you a new deck!

5.Grind over the airplane

Go down two floors. When you get there you’ll see and X-Ray machine to your left with a convenient quarter pipe in the middle. Get enough speed and jump off the top of the pipe, exiting it by pressing up on the D-Pad. If you get it right you’ll smash through the glass revealing a new area. Now all you have to do is grind along both wings in one go.

6. Collect S-K-A-T-E

You need to go to the stairs between the first set of escalators. Grind down the rail on the right of the stairs to get the –S-. The –K- is on the second blue round thing on the first floor down. Turn left after that and grind down the rail on the far right of the stairs to get the –A-. The –T- is on the escalator of the right leading down to the bottom floor. Grind on the right hand side of it. The final letter, -E-, is above a bench at the bottom corner of the area. You have to grind along the top bit of the bench then Ollie up to the letter.

Stat Points:

1. Up the quarter pipe you use to smash through the glass to get to the plane.
2. Inside the area with the plane. It’s up a quarter pipe in the top corner of that area.
3. Above the baggage collection point on the right of the bottom area. Use the slope on the collection point to reach it.
4. Up a quarter pipe in the far right corner of the area.

LA:

1. High Scores
High Score-75,000
Pro Score-150,000
Sick Score-300,000!?!

The sick score here is very, very hard. What you have to do if find out which moves will score the most points and do loads of combo’s. Very hard.

2. Find the hidden tape

Seeing that this is the last objective level they’ve made this one really hard. It’s at the top of the big column in the bright coloured area with all the arty stuff. What you have to do is use the small ramp at the bottom of it to jump up to a small rail allowing you to get the tape. The problem here is that you have to be dead strait or you’ll miss it. Very frustrating!!!!!!

3. Find 4 Earthquake gaps

Time to make some noise! The earthquake gaps are indicated by cracks in the ground. For the first one you have to head down the stairs to the right of the star and grind the rail to the left at the bottom of the stairs. Then you have to go to the nightclub with the big neon sign in the right corner of the area with the guys who randomly beat you up. Do a lip trick at the top of the quarter pipe to the left of the neon sign. Then travel to the bottom corner of the area with the film set. Wall-ride the diagonal wall at the top of this area. Next head to the building to the left of the film set. You’ll see crack on the quarter pipe face towards you. Using this quarter pipe, jump over the bit sticking out to finish it off and cause the earth quack. Unfortunately nothing really happens apart from an extra quarter pipe created by falling debris.

4.Lights’ Camera Action

If you can do this you are God! Somehow, in the movie set area, you have to grind along the lights, dinosaur and along and down that random thing sticking up joining to the caravans. It’s impossible. If anyone can do this please tell us in the chat forums.

5.Stop the pickpockets

Time to clean up the streets of LA (yeah right). The first pickpockets are right behind you at the start. One is wandering round the round blue thing forward from the start. Another is near the 4th earthquake gap. The next is in the movie set area and the last is to the left of the tower where the tape is.

6.Collect S-K-A-T-E

The final S-K-A-T-E of the game. The –S- is along the rail between the blue things at the start. The –K- is along the rail of the first earthquake gap. The –A- is just outside the nightclub. The –T- is just to the right of the dinner table in the movie set area and the –E- is up the rails to the left of the dinner table.

Stat Points:

1. Jump between the two-quarter pipes behind you at the beginning.
2. Up one of the red quarter pipes in the arty area.
3. In the right hand set of stairs leading to the movie set area
4. To the left of the ‘MAPS TO STARS HOMES’ sign.

Deck: Wall ride up the blue column in the semi circle thing in the arty area. The grind along to the deck.

TOKYO: Championship No. 2

Once again lots of ramps but this time with tougher opponents. Its best to stay in the first area as it’s easy to do tricks and you can do some mega grinds around the first area. Good luck.

Now that you’ve done it the first time you have to do it tones more with all the other skaters to get the secret level. What’s the secret level you say? I don’t want to spoil it for you. After all you need an incentive to endure several hours (even day) of anger and frustration.
