there is a shed load of food in one of the four Hovels, that are
close to the village you save from the Imperials, at the start of
this level. Knock em down to reveal the booty. This will keep
your men from starving.
there is also a heavily laden (and poorly protected) supply cart
not to far from the village where you send your Sapper to learn
how to build Siege engines.
there is a sneaky route to the "Prison in the Enemy Encampment"
immediately behind the village you liberate at the start. If you
attack the walls with troops on this side of the city, the dumb
enemy will open all the gates (including the prison ones!!) to
send troops out to deal with you. Once dispatched you can run the
gauntlet of the Towers and rescue the prisoners.
when you rescue the Village leader (get him back and you can
start using the Keep) and prisoners, it is worth noting the
prisoners can be converted into spearmen. If you have run out of
food at this point, and can't create peasants, remember that some
military units can be converted to basic peons.
the nearby enemy city will now start attacking on a regular
basis. Get some Watch Towers assembled.
the hill with the Henge on is a terrific spot to use your
Trebuchet from. Make sure you have some spearmen and a decent
sized unit of archers there to repel any aggressors. You can then
raise the nearest city (containing the prison etc) to the ground
and take out many Holy Towers in the vicinity etc.
This will remove the immediate threat allowing you time to build
up a good sized army and go to the final objective.
