Retro Game Walkthroughs for Metroid Prime (Gamecube)
Submitted By: Cycloon
This is a walkthrough for the genius work of art that is Metroid Prime. Buy it if you don¡|t have it, buy a Cube for it, just get it! Then read this walkthrough ;)

Scanning: You don¡|t need to scan everything in game to get 100%. Simply scan the RED blocks to add them to your total. ORANGE blocks are useful but not essential, except for scanning to activate things.

Note: This is a story walkthrough, not necessarily a weapons guide. Consult Cookie Monsters handy Pickups guide to get all the items you need.

Rooms: This walkthrough is centered on room names ¡V I give a room name and you have to get there for example ¡V guide to it of course, but passages and tunnels are just links, so exempt from any real need to talk about them in detail ¡V USE THE MAP! ƒº

Tips: If you need help, the game will give you a hand in showing abnormal events on your map ¡V you need to get to these to follow the story.

******

After the opening cut-scene, mess about with the unfamiliar controls ¡V aiming and shooting the asteroids makes a good target practice. Then, shoot the 4 red buttons and proceed. Run up to the machine and scan it and then shoot the buttons again. The game will give you hints all through this section anyway.

Go through the ships corridors and roll through a small hole to find the map loader. Use it, then go back out and follow the doors through. Use the lift in the first larger room, then fight your way through the dying Space Pirates.

At the end of this first investigation, you will reach the Parasite Queen in all her ugly glory. Your shots can¡|t penetrate the spinning orange panels, so lock on and fire in the random chance of hitting her. At times the panels will cease moving, so charge up and smack her wee bonce when you get the chance. After several hits she will die.

You need to run now. Go out the only other door you can and follow the corridors as quickly as possible. Simply blast any enemies out your way and grapple over the section where Ridley appears (the big flying thing). Eventually, your weaponry and armor will be blown off, leaving you as good as useless. Run out the linear corridors to escape¡K

TALLON:

Save the game, and skip off the ship to your right. Go to the door up on this small ledge and blast the beetles that burrow upwards. Go through here and into the next open section. Run straight through to the far end, over the long stone basin area. Go through the doors to the lift.

CHOZO RUINS:

Activate the lift by scanning the panel, and jump on. Run through the pillared room, scanning the wavy window thing above you to gain some Chozo history ¡V look out for these as you go. Run through into the Main Plaza, and go forwards and up the small steps. Turn left and kill the War Wasps. Jump up the side of the room and exit, and then enter the next door you can in the next room, leading to the North Atrium. Fight your way through to a dark room called Hive Totem ¡V it is full of toxins and is slightly slanted. Jump onto the middle platform.

The structure to your right will release war wasps. Simply kill them when they stop spinning around you, and when they are all dead, look over to the structure and pound the red target you will see. Do this 4 times to kill the thing, then collect you missiles! YAY! Now, throughout the game, scanning walls (such as one in the Ruined Gallery) possibly reveals a weakness. Bombs, Missiles, Missile Combos or Power Bombs will destroy these. Obviously you only have missiles, so blow the one in here open for more missiles, and also blow open a door to get a Map Upload ¡V Keep an eye out for things like this ¡V and I again refer you to Cookie Monsters guide at UKWALKTHROUGHS.COM

Go back to the Main Plaza, turn right and blow open the door to your right again. Run through the wrecked tunnels, kill the beetles and you will eventually come across a room called Ruined Shrine. Jump over the barrier and then battle the load of beetles that pop up. Once you kill them a bigger beastie appears ¡V Jump over and hit is big red tail to kill it. Collect the Morph Ball once you are finished!

NOTE: Go back to Hive Totem and go through the tunnel past the now-wrecked WW structure to get a Energy Tank (ET).

Once in the Main Plaza, go to the very end and jump up onto the low platform, and then over the gaps until you reach the wood bridge. Use this to cross the plaza, watching out for WWs, and then enter the door to your right. Morph Ball (MB) under the wreckage, and run through. Go to the Ruined Fountain, then left to the Arboretum. Go straight across the lower part of this room to enter another door ¡V watch out for the tentacles in the walls. Go to the Gathering Hall. Save on the right and then go to the left side of the room to enter the next section. In the Watery Hall Access, a weak wall hides another Missile Expansion (ME).

Go to the Watery Hall itself, and watching out for tentacles/poison, activate the four runes. The first is immediately to your right as you enter, the second is on a panel covered by the toxic mushroom things, the third is across the small islands, beneath the big cylindrical doors, and the last is on the door itself ¡V use the upper platforms to reach it. Grab the Charge Shot! Note the explodable MB hole here to.

Go back to the Gathering Hall and jump up using the platforms, up to the gate area above, to the Energy Core. Go left, enter the piping and follow this to reach another mini-boss.

This is easy. Jump/dodge the flames and War Wasps as you need to, then blast the red targets that pop out of the top of the cylinder. Once he has flamed the WW nest enough, you will receive Morph Ball Bombs! Make sure you blow the hole in this room for a ME. Go back to the Energy Core and go down the small die passages until you find a creature called a Stone Toad. MB in front if to let it eat you, the bomb inside it to kill it. Now, activate the machine in the room behind him by bombing the hole in the wall. You now need to rush to the other two machines to active them in a time limit ¡V use the hole in the wall to gain quick access to the middle area. When all 3 are done, you will see the platforms are raised. Use these to go to the unlocked door and usr the MB tunnel to get an Energy Tank!

Go back to the Arboretum and you again need to activate rune symbols. The first is under all the red weed at the toxic water level. The second is up higher. Use the platforms, then MB into the small insets in the walls. As you continue, you will see the second run in the wall as you pass it. The 3rd is above the small wooden bridge, and the 4th is right at the top, opposite the door, on the tree. Enter the door and blast the hole open. Navigate the toxic room, then fight the first proper boss, Flaagra.

Flaagra is the first real challenge. You need to shoot the panels that reflect sunlight onto the plant so they flip up ¡V a missile/Charged shot will be sufficient, if they hit the target. Once all the panels are up, enter the small tunnels and lay a bomb at the base of the plant to damage it. Each time you do this, another panel is added, so use the morph ball to quickly get to the next panel. Flaagra will try to knock them back down, so shoot at it to stun it temporarily ¡V this will buy you enough time to get all 4 panels down and to roll into a bomb tunnel.

Get the Varia suit!

Run up the steps behind the suit and through the tunnel to the lift and then down to the Burning Trail.

MAGMOOR CAVERNS:

Save on the left and then get to the Lake Tunnel. Jump over the lava and kill the Magmoor snake. Shoot all the puffers from afar and then jump across the lake to the other side. MBB the boxes and then the false wall and then carry on through.

MB into the low area beneath the grating, and bomb the little bugs when they are looking near you. The bombs should zip into their mouths and kill them. Carry on through. Either go down beneath the mesh again for pickups, or use the platforms that go up and left to continue on. Once in Monitor Station, kill the turrets that pop down around the central building. Then jump up the small platforms and kill the puffers above. Watch out for the turrets behind you as you jump. Jump onto the platform on the building, and then run through to the long walkway to a door guarded by a puffer. Run through here to the lift to Phendrana¡K

PHENDRANA:

Shoot the ice with charge shot, and run into the Shores ¡V wonderful place. Approach the grating to the left and shoot it out, then MB into the tunnel. Activate the switch inside, and then run out and save on your left, then go left out of the save cavern area and jump up onto the ascending path. Go through the door at the top.

In here, you have to MB past the sparkly Bombus, and carry onto Phendrana Ice Ruins East. Jump over the Baby Sheegoths and shoot their shells until they explode and reveal their flesh ¡V shoot this to kill. Turn right from the start and jump up the platforms. Carry on until you reach a door. Go through and get to Ice Ruins West. On the far side, there is a door at the bottom of a slope. Go through this and get to Phendrana Canyon. Drop down and go up a slope on the right hand side. Activate the switch and use the platforms to get to the tower. Grab the Morph Ball Boost!

Now drop down, and hold B to charge up the ball. Practice using timed boosts to get the maximum height possible off the half pipe, and exit by going to the left of the pipe and running along this ascending path.

Now, go all the way back to the Chozo lift you took to Magmoor. Enter the door from here that leads to a tiny room, and use the MB to go up on the small lift. Once in the next main room, use bombs to unlock the gates to get the ME, then carry on to get an ET.

Go to the Tallon Canyon.

TALLON OVERWORLD:

The stone area is in fact a half-pipe! Use this to gain height and get to the top of the pipe, to the left of the screen. Cross the bridge and bomb the walls. Go through these tunnels ahead to drop down and get the Space Boots! Exit and save at the ship, and then explore the local area a bit more¡K (hint hint)

Go back to Phendrana, either the same way, or through the Root Cave
near the waterfall in the Tallon Canyon. Drop down to find the door, and drop down to enter Magmoor. Get to the Monitor Station by going right (look out for more MEs), and through¡K

PHENDRANA:

Go up the main slope to East Ice Ruins but at the top look around and look out for the floating platforms. Jump onto these to reach the large castle like structure, and then enter the door here. Inside, kill the Baby Sheegoth and then work your way upwards, watching out for baddies. Destroy the seconf-on-the-right mask to reveal a MB hole. Bomb it and go through the door. Use MBs to clear the pillars away and go through.

In here, you have to face 2 baby sheegoths at a time. Kill them and use the boxes in each area they come from to heal and replenish. Once all 4 are dead, their momma arrives¡K

The adult Sheegoth is immune to your main gun, so missiles and bombs are the order of the day. Missile it when it pants after breathing ice, or roll into a ball and bomb near it ¡V be very quick! This is not that difficult, but he can take a lot of hits, so be careful and look out for your health.

Once dead, grab the Wave Beam!

Now, go back to the Shorelines, then to Ice Ruins West. Go right ad upwards, and then shoot the pillar so it falls. Use this as a platform, and jump across the various gaps until you can see a purple door. Make for this and shoot it open. Run through and take revenge on the Bombus with your Wave Beam! Now in the Courtyard. Jump down and use the MB to activate the two spinners at either end of the lake and then bomb the holes. Now you have to be quick to jump up the platforms to the central building.

NOTE: At one end is a MB hole ¡V drop in here for an ET, but you will have to do the flooding process again.

Save in the Eastern door, then go North and prepare for the main fight of the game so far. In Specimen Storage, kill the Shadow Pirate and the turret and run through. In Research Entrance, the Space Pirates will make the first true entrance, so kill them all and enter the map room on the far right. Then run up the ramps to the Hydra Lab, and dispatch any enemies in here ¡V watch out for them on the roof. Turrets are around too, especially at the top of ramps.

NOTE: There are hundreds of scans available here. Scan all the reds you see, and oranges if you want background info. Reds are essential for 100% though.

Exit through the purple door in the ceiling and destroy all the turrets in the tunnel. Run into the Observatory. Kill all the pirates and then MB the hole that is revealed to you. Do that several times to activate four spinners at the bottom. Spin in these to activate the hologram ¡V scan the red scans to get vital info on the planets key to Metroid.

Now, jump all the way to the top of the room, and grab the Power Beam Upgrade ¡V the Super Missile. Simply hold A and tap Y to release a super shot that will kill any normal enemy dead straight. Save in the door behind you, then go through the other door and out into the Control Tower. Flying pirates will appear ¡V kill them and watch out for their dying kamikaze attacks. Enter the next door and go down. In the first Research Lab area, scan the Metroid and it will burst out. Go into MB mode and bomb it to get rid of it. A Space Pirate will burst out in the far right corner of the room, so kill him and use the opening to continue downwards. Jump down into the main room filled with tanks and kill the enemies. Super Missile the ET container to grab it, then enter the door on the floor.

Run through the Access to the Research Core. Kill the space pirate near a terminal, and activate it. Drop down to the next level and scan the next terminal, then drop down to the last and kill the turrets, then scan the last terminal. Grab the Thermal Visor, then activate it immediately!

It will go pitch black and space pirates will appear. Kill them, then rush upwards ¡V the Metroids will have escaped, so be careful. Simply fight your way through the area to the Hologram room (observatory). Save it, then go all the way back out to the Courtyard.

Go save, then to the door opposite the save terminal. Activate the thermal visor and shoot the power conduit. Enter the door and MB through the area. Drop down into the large arena¡K

Thardus will appear. He attacks by filling the screen with snow and rocks, sending rocks at you and stamping on the ground to create an ice stream ¡V avoid if you don¡|t want to get stuck. He also attacks by rolling into a ball and moving around ¡V he will almost certainly hit you like this.

Activate the thermal visor, and you will see a target appear on him. Shoot the hell out of it (Wave Beam) and when it explodes, de-activate the visor and then shoot the now open target with super missiles ¡V time it so you don¡|t waste them, when you have an open shot! If you need health, shoot the rocks he sends at you to get replenishments.

This fight is long, but with enough patience to hit the right spot and awareness, you can do it. Once he¡|s dead, collect the health and grab the Spider Ball!

Use the Spider Ball to exit the only other door, other than the one you arrived in. Use the lift to get to Magmoor.

MAGMOOR CAVERNS:

Save in the door behind you, then go out and kill the flying pirates. Now, activate the machine beneath you by shooting three hidden power conduits, and then MB roll down the solidified path. Scan the machine inside and repeat to get an ET!

Now, run through Magmoor proper, killing any new enemies etc. Shoot the pillars to create stepping stones (and weapons) to advance.

Go to Chozo Ruins

CHOZO RUINS:

Explore any new areas you can to get pickups (remember any inaccessible spots before?) and then go all the way through to the Energy Core!]

Go through the hole ad up the Spider Ball track. Run through the next room to another half pipe area. Scan the Chozo Lore and blast the statue/face thing to reveal a switch. This will activate a puzzle for another ME¡K

Anyway, carry on through this room to the Hall of Elders. Kill the Chozo Ghost with the power beam ONLY and then in MB form, out yourself in the hands of the statue. He will roll you upwards, and roll along to reach a force field area. De-activate this to gain easy access each time, and roll through the door. Jump into the water in the next room, and bomb the plug at the bottom. Use the new half pipe to gain access to the upper levels and bomb any stone toads that eat you. Once up, open a blue door for a save or the ICE BEAM! Do the other door if you did the other one, if you see what I mean, and go back to the Hall of Elders. Now, shoot out the coloured circles with the respective weapon and jump in the hands to get to different areas. The Wave Beam and Ice Beam will give you handy pick ups! We have to come back later for the last one¡K

PHENDRANA:

Now, wait for it. Go ALL the way back to the Research Core in Phendrana. Haha ;) At the very bottom is an Ice door. Open it and once in the Frozen Pike, take the second door from the top to reach the Frost Cave Access. Kill the Hunter Metroid, shoot the stalactites to create platforms, and get to Phendranas Edge! Jump into the water and enter the purple door. Get into the Hunter Cave and shoot the stalactites, and then run through a similar tunnel to reach another lake. Activate the thermal visor and beat off the Reapers to get the Gravity Suit! Exit the area with your new found freedom!

TALLON OVERWORLD:

Now, go all the way to Samus¡| spaceship. Save, and then enter cavern behind it that slopes downwards. Fight and MB through until you reach a large area with flying pirates and the crashed space station section. Jump into the water, look left and grab an ME, and then run along the wood to some ledges. Use the MB to get under the archways and then jump onto dry land and enter the ship.

NOTE: Flying Pirates are easy to kill with the Ice Beam. Freeze them, then shoot the hell out of them ļ

Once inside the ship, follow the only path you can through. Once in the large open area, find the three conduits to activate a door. Enter this door, save on the right and run through. Shoot the grate for an ET, and then jump up the slope. Use platforms behind you when stuck, and watch out for power conduits on the way up! In Biohazard Containment, shoot three more conduits and kill the Aqua Pirates. A door in here is Super Missile-able, so shoot it for an ME. Go right through the ship to reach another MB tunnel section ¡V let¡|s just say careful bomb placement to get high will reap healthy reward ;)

Once in a room called the Great Tree Hall, you will find a lift to the Phazon Mines!

PHAZON MINES:

Find a spider ball track to save, then de-activate the forcefield by flicking two switches. Enter inside and use the Wave beam on the Wave Troopers. Get into Elite Research and scan a switch to raise the platforms. Work your way up and scan another terminal, etc. At the top, a mining laser will be on the roof. Use the spinner to move it all the way around to the left most wall, and blow it up for an ME. Shoot the wall at the end of the metal bridge to carry on.

Kill the Power (Power beam) troopers in the Ore Processing Centre and then find the hologram machine to the north. Get into the slot behind it and bomb it to swivel the machine once ¡V only once! Use the spider ball track to get up higher, then bomb the next slot twice only! Go back down and bomb this one three times, then use the a different track to get to the last level upwards. Kill the pirate, and enter the Elite Control Access.

In here, find a crate situated near a gas leak. Shoot it to kill pirates and get an ME. Scan the Elite Pirate to wake him up. EEK! Charge up a super missile, and then shoot at it when you jump over the purple shockwaves it sends at you ¡V no power beam please. Force fields will go, and Ice Pirates will attack. You know the drill. Go upwards to find some Shock Troopers. Enter the ventilation shaft you find and get through it quickly to escape the poison gases. In Omega Research, kill the space pirates and enter the Central Dynamo. The cloaked sentry drone is a biatch if you are low on health. Shoot it when it prepares to fire with everything you¡|ve got. Save in the door to the right of the entrance, and then go back into the room. Drop into the electricity maze and move around to get the Power Bombs!

Exit the way you came, using the platforms. In the ventilation shaft, power bomb the grating and drop down and scan the ventilation on, so the gas goes, as do the puffers. An ET will be revealed¡K

Once back in Ore processing, at the top, you can Power Bomb wreckage to align the yellow track. Use this to reach the Grapple Beam!!!

Use this new toy to reach the platform over the gap and drop down the water puzzle until you reach a ledge high above the main quarry. Scan the terminal on the left and face the pirates. Hit the power conduit at the bottom of the crane and use the spider ball to get an ME at the end of the crane. Get back to the Great Tree Hall.

TALLON OVERWORLD:

Once here, activate the spinner to open the gates, and jump up. Kill enemies and use the magnetic tower contraption to go upwards to a higher ledge and power bomb the rocks. Enter the pipes, and use the boost ball well to get on top of the central island ¡V bomb the middle for an ME.

Carry on through for the X-Ray visor! Use this to see the hollow walls and use a power bomb to blast one open. Enter the water and bomb the switch. This will raise a structure, leading to your first artifact!

Now, go back and climb up the ledges to your right and across the bamboo bridges. Shoot the Chozo Ghosts, then jump across onto the large green area above the X-Ray pickup point. Blow the hole open and exit. Look out across the Great Tree Hall with the X-Ray visor to spot a hidden platform for another ME.

Go to Chozo Ruins

CHOZO RUINS:

By now, you should have lots of Missiles. Enter the door to where you got the Morph Ball, and use the half pipe in here to get behind the room to another section. Get into the Tower of Light. Scan the pillars and shoot them to cause the tower to fall. Do this on each level, avoiding the plated enemies and grab the Wave Buster! Also, once you do this, go back into the Main Plaza and through into the room with the spewing fountain. Enter a door leading to a lava room. Grapple across and blast the wall for a Power Bomb Expansion, and then in the next corridor, look for a hole to get another ME. In the next room, solve the puzzle for an ET, then exit the furthest door for another ME across the plaza.

Now go to Magmoor caverns.

MAGMOOR CAVERNS:

Go to the Geothermal Core and on one side of the lake you should see a ledge to jump up onto. Do so, then grapple, across to the first platform. Solve each puzzle on each platform to reach the spider tracks high up on the walls. Use these (remember to bomb enemies!) to reach a ledge, leading to the Plasma Beam! Now that is what I¡|m talking about! Lethal!

Head to the Lava Lake, X-Ray the central pillar to see it¡|s hollow. Blast it to get another Artifact. Then head to the Monitor Station and go upwards, as high as possible to reach a 3rd artifact and a Power Bombe Expansion (PE). Find the Shore Tunnel and power bomb the cracked glass to get the Ice Spreader ¡V they¡|re all coming fast now!

Go back to Tallon Overworld via the Root Cave.

TALLON OVERWORLD:

At the normal entrance half way up, there is a grapple point. Grapple across and use the X-ray visor to spot invisible platforms. There are 2 MEs up here behind vines and a Plasma door respectively. Now go to the Phazon Mines.

PHAZON MINES:

Inside the Mining Security Station, search for a computer behind a grate. Blow this and scan to open up a plasma door to get the Flamethrower ¡V all weapons collected!

Go to Elite Research, kill the Phazon Pirate by blowing the container with a PB. Grab the artifact here once he is killed! Get into the Metroid Qurantine Access ¡V past the place where you got the PBs, the Central Dynamo.

Open the containment field via a switch and kill any Metroids that dare oppose you. Wait for them to kill the Pirates, then finish them off. Use the X-Ray to spot invisible platforms and jump across. Use the mutated toadstools to get higher, as well as x-ray platforms. If you look left here, you can PB the wall to get another ME. Now use the spider ball track to carry on through this evil area. Use the lift, and then follow the tunnels all the way through ¡V this is where the game really comes into the Metroid essence, all evil mutations and metroids everywhere! Replenish all your missiles in a side door off one of the halls, and then get all the way through to a save point. Save! Blow any weak areas up to get an ME or two, then go through, plasma beaming the icy door control thingies. You¡|ll see.

Now you have to face the Omega Pirate. On hard, this is insane, so count yourself lucky
He launches a wave attack like a normal elite pirate, and will smack you if you get too close ¡V don¡|t! He has several weak points visible, mainly the blue phazon patches on his suit. Hit these with enough missiles and they will fall. Ignore the enemies that appear and put on the X-ray visor while jumping like crazy to avoid the fire. You will spot the pirate by a phazon pool, recharging! Use the plasma beam and kick his butt as quickly as possible. He might teleport again, so watch out, and then he will go back to normal. His shockwaves will kill the other pirates, so ignore them and repeat the process. Kill the pirates on the walls if you have too, then watch and wait for the Omega pirate to re-appear near a pool of phazon. Make sure you have charged plasma shot to hit him with. Simply repeat and he should die, giving you a Phazon suit, which is way better suit than any other.

Exit the room via the lift to get an ET. Now exit the mines by going upwards in this room and got to the Magmoor Workstation. Get to Phendrana.

PHENDRANA:

Use the lift that is near where you killed Thardus to access Phendrana ¡V Work Station in magmoor. Go up the spider track and melt the ice to get an ET. In the Frost Cave, use the Glider to grapple across the room and blast a stalactite to cause it to shatter the ice, revealing an ME.

Go to Phendrana¡|s edge and grapple up as high as possible. You will find a small pipe leading to a Power Bomb expansion. Go back to the main area and use your X-ray visor to spot a hollow wall. Power bomb to reveal a plasma door, and get the artifact.

Get now to the Control Tower (use your map) and find some crates in a tower. Blast these to reveal ice, which when melted reveals a narrow gap. Blow up the explosives through the gap and the tower will fall, revealing an artifact. Go to Ice Ruins West, and on top of one of the ruins is a solid block of ice ¡V plasma beam it to get another Power Bomb expansion. Now go to Ice Ruins East and then through to Phendrana shorelines ¡V there are a lot of ME¡|s around here. Go into the Ice Ruin and go up to the statue with its hands extended, near where you got the Wave Beam. Melt the icy hands and morph ball into the clasp, revealing yet another artifact.

Go to Chozo Ruins

CHOZO RUINS:

Go to the Sun Chamber and fight the three ghosts where you beat Flaagra to get another artifact! Search for any more unexplored paths that you now might be able to reach, and then go to the Hall of Elders. Use the plasma beam to open up the final path with the statue, and grab another artifact in here.

Go to the Phazon Mines

PHAZON MINES:

In the Phazon Mining tunnel, you can bomb a rock to gain access to phazon ridden paths. Use these to gain another artifact at the bottom. Find the Phazon Pirate encased in his shell and kill & collect his artifact if you haven¡|t already. Now, go to Tallon Overworld, and back to your ship.

TALLON OVERWORLD:

Once saved and replenished, head over to the door you will have seen since the start and probably never entered. Run through and scan and kill any enemies and Chozo lore, and indeed the first Pirate Entry! Once you reach the far end, the semi-circular balcony, or the Artefact Temple, you will see what the artifacts are for. If you have all the artifacts, a short cut-scene will ensue and you will receive the final one. If not, scan all the red scan areas to see where you might not have looked¡K

Anyway, once all artifacts are recovered, Meta Ridley appears. Oh yes.

At first, he flies. Watch out for his sneaky flying attacks, similar to the Giant Bird thing in The Wind Waker. Avoid his projectile attacks and watch out for the cluster bomb attack, which is very hard to avoid unless you see him start his run (he flies from miles away). Finally, he tries to stamp you out. When he is flying, try to hit his chest with the Plasma beam ¡V it¡|s so powerful a full charge will stop any attack he is about to unleash, but it means you have to fight him more in his second form. Therefore, try to use the Wave beam to lock on, or just the simple power beam. Once his wings are gone, he will land, and then turn effectively into much harder boss. He charges you like an enraged bull and will severely injure you if you are not careful. Stay locked onto him at all times and strafe around him. His tail will also annoy you if you ignore it, just a hint! ;) When his mouth is fully open, blast it with a missile. Then, pound his chest. The Wave Buster is ideal because it stays locked on and will keep him immobilized. By the end, he becomes even more dangerous. He charges several times in quick succession and quick moving is the only key. However, once he is damaged enough, he will be swiftly got rid of. Oh yes.

Now, say good bye to the light.

Transport into the crater.

IMPACT CRATER:

Save, and exit the room into a corridor of red phazon. Well, I think it is phazon. In the main cavern, you will come across fission metroids, who split up into more parts each time you hit them and take specific weapons to kill. Avoid at all costs, and use the bone like structures to go up the room, first to a missile station, then onwards. Use a power bomb only if you are surrounded by lots/several metroids, as you will need them!

Run through the door, spider ball across and open the last door.

METROID PRIME:

This dude is tough and big to boot. Scan him, and then watch his colour. Depending on this, he will launch different attacks and be vulnerable only to the weapon of the same colour. His attacks, except for his tractor beam and charge are pretty easy to avoid ¡V the glowing balls of energy can be shot for pickups. Now. Shoot at him in the same colour gun as he is at that point and make it count, hitting him in the red malevolent eyes. I recommend only using the Super Missile when you have a clear shot, the Wave Buster whenever you can, and the other two specials not at all, they are a waste of missiles. He is easy to harm, just avoid his attacks and concentrate fire as much as possible. When he is white, just plug at him, the ice beam is unusually useless in this situation. Once he is ¡¥dead¡| he will fall one last time..

FINAL FORM:

His attacks are very weak, as long as you dodge them. He head butts towards you, and sends shockwaves along the ground. The most annoying thing is the metroids he creates. Anyway, as soon as he releases the initial blast, grab ALL the pickups you can, and then watch him like a hawk. When he creates some Phazon, run over and stand in it, and blast him with the super-cool phazon gun. Once the phazon is exhausted, run out and watch for him..but he disappears! Activate the X-ray visor and repeat. THEN use the thermal visor, THEN normal optics, THEN the X-ray and so on. He himself is easy to kill if you keep your eye on him ¡V power bombing the metroids

Welcome to my walkthrough for finding all of the missile upgrades, there are 50 upgrades in total, for ease of use I will group upgrades into location and alphabetic status, also including the items you will need to get to them. Lets get started.

Tallon Overworld

Since you arrive here at the start of the real adventure it seems like an ideal place to begin.

Area-Arbor Chamber Items required-Plasma beam, X-ray visor Just head through the plasma door at the top of the room.

Area-Biohazard Containment Items required-Gravity suit, Super missiles Jump into the water and scan the chamber near the middle of the floor to find a weakened door, blow it open and claim your prize.

Area-Frigate Crash Site Items required-Space jump boots, Gravity Suit Head into the water and look up and left, using the mesh of roots and weeds you can reach the upgrade with you elite jumping skills.
