*****Making the Ichthyosaur fly in Half-life*****
Written by ME.

This is a pretty cool thing I discoverd a few years ago and im pretty sure noone else knows about it.

1) First thing you will need to enable the cheats.
In order to enable your console, (cheat box, basically) right click on the half life shortcut. Go down to properties. A box should open up with the properties. Go to the target tab. The line should look something like this: X:SierraHalf-Lifehl.exe . At the end of that put -console . Now it should look like X:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console . Make sure that you are only using one space. Now, go back into Half Life. The main startup screen should have an extra selection that says console. Click on the console menu and in this console type
"sv_cheats 1" this will enable the cheats.

2) Starting the Game.
Now start a new game doesn't matter what difficulty, now you will be on the train starting Half-life now that you have the console enabled you can press the tidle key (next to 1, above tab, under escape, you get the idea) this will bring down a drop down box press the up key and "sv_cheats 1" will be there hit enter and this will allow you to enter the cheat codes.

3)Changing the map, now you have started the game with cheats we need to go to the level "Surface tension", to do this press the tidle key and type in "map c2a5" this will now load "Surface tension" you should now see the door in front of you.

4) Preparation
In the console type in "impulse 101" this will give you the HEV suit and all weapons (you may have to close the console (tidle key) open it again, press up till "impulse 101" appears and press enter, repeat this untill armour gets to "100" this will give you more ammo for the guns and more armour) next type in "god" this will activate god mode. Close the console.
Go through the door wasting ammo killing marines (whatever you do) and keep going on till you get to the Dam shoot down the chopper and blow up the big gun at the end (with the sandbags around it) now your ready to make the Ichthyosaur fly.

5)Making the Ichthyosaur fly
In the console type in "noclip" (this is like fly mode, you can fly through anything) now go to the start of the Dam (opposite the the big gun) and on the right(facing the gun) where the railing starts and you should see that section end go about in the middle and look straight down level with the side now just press forward so your just in the water and wait for the Ichthyosaur to come right below you when it is right in front of you really close (almost touching you) move back straight up the side with any luck the Ichthyosaur will follow you up the Dam and it will be flying now you can do some really cool stuff with this, have you ever seen the Ichthyosaur on the other side of the Dam, well yes it's possible I have done it (quite hard though you have to have a perfect curve to get over the Dam) also you can get it stuck on the dam and if you use the cheat code "impulse 76" it spawns in some marines they will fight the Ichthyosaur.

I have taken some screenshots that may help you.

Half Life Weapons, Aliens and Other Life Forms Walkthrough

By Silent Thunder:

A walkthrough for every single weapon, alien and other life forms on Half Life, containing a basic guide and description about the weapons, aliens and other life forms on the game. I have included some detailed uses of the weapons and when and how to use them efficiently through out the game. I hope it helps!

Weapons:

The Crowbar – This is the first weapon you receive in the game and should almost be your number one choice when faced by combat. If you are low on ammo, but there is an alien or soldier coming towards you just attack them with the crowbar. The odds are that the enemy will be so shocked that you are using a crowbar against their superior weapon that they wont know what to do, allowing you to kill them. The crowbar is the best weapon to kill headcrabs and zombies with; both two aliens are armed with no weapon, except their hands. When you meet a headcrab sneak up behind it and strike it over the head with the crowbar, the kill should take about 2-3 blows. When you meet a Zombie there is no need to sneak up on it, the chances are that it will hear you anyway. What you do: When the zombie is coming towards you, strike it, back off whilst he tries to hit you, run in closer and strike him again, then like before back off whilst he hits air and keep doing this until the zombie is dead on the floor. This not only saves ammo, but if you do it correctly you will save health as well. The crowbar is not only a weapon, it is also can act as a crate, barrel and glass destroyer. If you destroy these crates and barrels you will often find health or ammo inside and occasionally even an alien, so be alert!

9mm pistol – The second weapon you will receive in the game, a very good weapon at killing headcrabs, it will take two direct hits to kill one. Also it is a very accurate weapon that will almost every time hit its target. It takes the same ammo as the Assault Rifle, so remember whatever ammo you use on this weapon will also be taken from the rifle as well. The pistol is far more accurate than the rifle and also allows you to control how much ammo you wish to use on a shot. Another brilliant advantage of this pistol is the fact that it can be fired under water unlike almost every other gun! It is a great use when you have run out of crossbow ammo and you are trying to kill the giant fish monster, Ichthyosaurs. Both weapons will deliver a mighty blow to the fish leaving nothing but a trail of blood and sushi!

357 Magnum revolver – Possibly the best weapon on the game for accurate, direct killings. This weapon is brilliant for any alien or soldier you ever meet it the game. In almost all cases it is one shot, one kill. Aiming for any particular area of your enemy’s body is not necessary with this gun, just aim roughly for the centre of the alien or the head of the alien and it will almost definitely kill it. It is the same for any soldiers as well. One thing you might want to remember is the fact that the ammo for this gun is extremely hard to find in the game so be aware that the gun will eventually run out of ammo. So do use it wisely, don’t waste it on such aliens as the zombies or headcrabs as the crowbar can easily kill them and not use any ammo. With this gun you get six rounds, then you must reload, a top tip would be to reload during intervals of the shooting so you don’t get caught out.

9mm Assault Rifle – A brilliant weapon, the only thing bad about it is the fact that it isn't the most accurate weapon, but who says you want to sniper with an Assault Rifle anyway! You can just use this weapon for close up killings or you can just spray an enemy with bullets. A fantastic bonus of this weapon is the fact that it has an added grenade launcher, it is quite easy and simple to fire and not bad accuracy at all. Remember: The hand held grenades are totally different weapon to these and when you pick up a hand held grenade it wont contribute to this weapon’s ammo at all. This weapon takes the same source of ammo as the pistol so when you use one the other’s ammo will also be depleted. Unfortunately unlike the pistol you can’t use this weapon under water. This weapon is a great use against the soldiers because they use the same weapon so if you shoot them and loose ammo you will pick it up again when you kill them!

The Shotgun – Definitely one of the best weapons in the game, almost or equally as good as the revolver. This is another weapon that the soldiers use in the game, so there isn't a great shortage of this weapon’s ammo either. With this gun it is two shots one kill, unlike the revolver, but this is weighed up by the amount of ammo you can find for the shotgun rather than the revolver. The main enemies that can be easily killed by this gun are the soldiers and the alien slaves; of course you can kill the headcrabs and zombies with it too, but as I have already said use the Crowbar! To kill the soldiers you must fire two bullets directly into the centre of the body; this will kill them immediately. To kill the alien slaves you can either do two things, go for a close up kill that takes one bullet to kill them or the long-range kill that takes two bullets. Either way it is guaranteed to kill them. With this brilliant weapon you get eight rounds before you must reload it, as I said before, reload it during intervals of shooting as not to get caught out.

The Crossbow – You get this weapon in the middle of the game when a scientist requests that you deal with his experiment, the giant fish monster, the Ichthyosaurs. It is the most accurate weapon on the game with zoom options and easy movement and smooth shooting. It fires six rounds at a time before you have to reload it; a major downside is the fact that it takes so long for this weapon to reload. Who says you just have to use it on the Ichthyosaurs though? This weapons is a one shot, one kill weapon that will kill every single alien and soldier on the game with one dart. The darts fly silently through the air and water that make this weapon the perfect sniper device. You can easily sneak up or even fire from a distance to deliver that fatal dart into your enemy.

The RPG: Laser-Guided Rocket Propelled Grenade – Surprisingly for a big gun like this it is very, very accurate. Its main purpose is to blow up helicopters and it does this very efficiently. Also you can use this weapon on Gargs and other large aliens, it won’t kill a Garg with one shot, but after about five to six shots it will be a different story. It will almost definitely kill any other large aliens with one shot; the only exception is a Garg and the giant spider creature, Gonarch. Gonarch will take many shots of the RPG until the giant spider finally moves on or is killed. After each shot it will need to be reloaded, but this only takes a matter of seconds, overall it is an excellent gun. With Zoom options and a laser guided system, which makes it easy for you to shoot the enemy.

The Tau Cannon – A prototype made by the Black Mesa’s scientists that is placed into your hands by a turn of fate. A truly great weapon that is very tempting to use on every single alien and soldier in the game. A heated bolt is fired into the enemy and burns them internally; they will be dead after 5-7 shots. This weapon uses the same ammo as the Gluon gun so remember to share the ammo equally. On big aliens you will need to use larger amounts of ammo, holding down the fire key will charge the gun and then it will fire one huge bolt on to the enemy, if you leave it charging to long it will back fire, killing you. A top tip that you must, must remember: Never use this gun in water, the electrical charge will charge the water and electrocute you and you will die on the spot.

The Gluon Gun – The second prototype made by the scientists of the Black Mesa Research facility, a brilliant weapon that uses compressed air to crush aliens and other life forms. When using this weapon it will only take seconds to kill your enemy, with no trace of them left apart from some blood. The Gluon Gun uses the same ammo as the Tau Cannon, so use them equally. Remember: don’t use this weapon in water, as it will react the same way, as the Tau Cannon will, it electrifies you. So beware.

The Hivehand – The first of two alien weapons in the game and a brilliant one it is too. You can easily get one of these weapons off an Alien Grunt, the alien warriors. It is a claw like weapon that sticks to your hand and fires hornet like creatures onto the enemy, these hornets are heat seeking and very painful for anyone who comes into contact with them. They can be also used to scout for enemies, say if you are around a corner and you don’t know if there is an enemy around it or not, simply fire the gun and you will hear a fleshy noise, then you know there is enemy. Remember: When you do this, this will bring out the enemy as soon as the first hornet strikes the flesh of the enemy, be prepared.

Grenades – A hand held grenade is superb. They are a great use against anything you will encounter in the game, using the grenades against soldiers is brilliant as they don’t seem to actually be bothered that there is a grenade hurtling towards them! They are excellent against all the big aliens in the game as they do a lot of damage on impact. Also you can use them against the soldiers machine gun places, it will just take one successful hit to destroy the machine gun. Tip: If you want a grenade to explode as soon as possible hold down the fire key for longer then release the key and it will be thrown and explode quicker, you can use this to cause air explosions as well.

Laser Tripmines – This is what the soldiers love to use against you, they are brilliant for traps and stopping enemy dead in their tracks, literally. You stick them onto any surface, organic surfaces included and they will send out a laser beam, as soon as anyone or anything disturbs the perfect laser beam line it will trigger a massive explosion that will kill anything. Always be on the look out for these nasty traps as they can easily kill you. This type of mine will send out a blue laser beam, red laser beams trigger off the machine gun places, so try and avoid them too.

Satchel Packs – Only you ever get these explosives. They are brilliant at destroying groups of men and aliens; they can be easily slid along the floor because they are rubber and then remotely controlled by a controller that you can use as far away as you like. Not only are they good at destroying groups of enemy, but also are very handy at taking out long rows of laser Tripmines.

The Snarks – The final alien weapon you get in the game and they are an alien. You often will find these in caves and sewers and sometimes in Lamba Core in tanks. They look like giant red beetles with huge green eyes; they deliver a nasty bite to who ever gets in their way. You can use them against the enemy by picking them up and throwing them at the enemy they will them jump on them and bite them to death, eventually they will explode when they ‘expire’. Remember: When you have thrown them, back away quickly or they will come after you!

Aliens and other Life forms in the game:

Head Crabs – The most annoying creatures in the whole game, the best weapon against them are either the crowbar or pistol. They have very fleshy backs and heads with four talons that cling onto your head and crush you face. They are of a sandy colour and quite small, they often hide in ceilings ready to jump down onto you. You can hear them before you can see them by miles; you will hear a crunchy sound and occasional squeaks, almost like a baby crying, from them. When they do strike they are extremely fast, watch them at all times!

Zombies – The big, ugly evolved form of the head crabs. They were once headcrabs, but now have a host; usually they will be wearing either scientists or soldier’s clothes from the victim. They still have the same fleshy head and this is wear you should strike them. Also they have very long arms, that can deliver mighty blows on you. They are quite slow creatures though, so they could be considered an easy target. Tip: using the crowbar to deal with these aliens is the best way of killing them with no wasted ammo.

Alien Slaves – These creatures are from the Planets of Xen and just work for their alien master making new aliens. They look the coolest aliens out there, it must be said, but they must be one of the toughest as well. They are quick and sleek and are armed with giant green bolts of electricity that can kill you easily. These are the most intelligent aliens on the game, they can be heard when they speak a few words of English and they often hide in unlikely places. You must be alert when you hear one, as they stay in their hiding place until you are right on top of them. They all look the same, black, and green and with one giant red eye, they are quite thin aliens so this allows them to move quickly and hide almost anywhere.

Barnacles – These creatures live in the damp sewers and other dark places and cling onto the ceiling, they aren't the greatest threat, but they do catch you off guard. They have a long sticky tongue that hangs down from the ceiling and wraps around the victim and slowly is brought to the top of the ceiling into the giant jaws of this alien. They can easily be dealt with by using the crowbar to cut their tongues. Tip: When you are in a dark place like the sewers always have your flash light on so you can look out for the sticky tongues.

Hound-eyes – These are basically the alien form of a dog, they even bark like a dog. The only thing that a dog doesn’t ‘usually’ do is admitting an electrical pulse into any living thing around it, injuring it greatly, then it begins to eat you alive, not pleasant, so run away from them, then turn and face them with a shotgun! They are quite a chubby creature, but are still very fast movers and can be heard screeching in the distance.

Bullsquids – These ugly crosses between a lizard and a squid lurks around in the sewers eating its favourite meal, humans and radioactive waste. It is a green, sandy colour with giant red squid lips that can easily throw you around and eat you, these lips also spurt out radioactive waste into your face. They only have two legs, but are the fasted alien on the game; this is why they are called the ‘bull’ because they can charge quickly like one. Again the shotgun or revolver will deal with them.

Alien Grunts – The warriors from Xen. Equipped with Handhives these are an evil match for you, they are giant blue creatures with a bad attitude, they take no prisoners. They usually hang around in small groups where you least expect it. You can easily hear them a mile off though as they are very big, heavy and clumsy, but fierce. So you will hear giant footsteps shaking the ground. Also these aliens can be found on the planets of Xen in giant eggs where they are born and produced, when you open these eggs up the alien will fly straight out, so leave the eggs alone!

Ichthyosaurs – A scientist’s experiment gone wrong, they are giant pre-historic fishes with giant jaws and thick skin that is hard to pierce making it a hard beast to kill. They are in almost every sewer and murky water source on the game and they only stop when you shoot them with the crossbow. Their roar isn't hard to miss as it echoes through buildings and canals. Tip: When you are about to enter a water system use the hive hand and fire it into the water, this will find anything living in the water and allows you to know.

Gargs – The massively built aliens, that can fire heat from their eyes throw anything with their hands and use their feet to make the earth tremble beneath them whilst causing fire beams to shoot out onto you. Also they’re heavily armoured so aren't easily killed, often there will be a special bomb with their name on it some where. They all look the same, dark blue, thick skins with some black markings, they are the giants of the alien world and they are a match for almost anything you will find.

Alien Controller or Chief – The biggest, worst alien on the game, it controls all the aliens on the game and is very intelligent, but I don’t want to tell you anything else, or it will ruin the surprise!

Gonarch – The giant spider like creature that spurts a radioactive liquid onto you and she also likes to sit on you, she can be heard miles away with huge thumps on the planets of Xen. She is very large with a huge body and head, she is mostly brown. She also has babies with her that explode on you, radioactive again! For a giant spider with huge body she is actually quite fast, she doesn’t actually run though, she jumps, watch your head!

Soldiers – This is the only other enemy on the game and they take it very seriously, they are all dressed in white with grey patches and act very intelligent indeed, with traps such as laser beams, trip mines and other things. They set up machine gun places and also use tanks and other vehicles, also they hide in unlikely places, like lifts and closets. But you can easily hear them on their radio hiding so you know they are there. They are out to clear up the mess of the aliens, you and any other witnesses. They are armed with 9mm assault rifles and shotguns; also they have medics with them that are armed with a Pistol. Another man they have with them is an Engineer who carries a flame-thrower with him to burn through doors, so you cant hide anywhere!

Well that is all the weapons, aliens and other life forms in Half-Life, I hope it has been very informative and useful for you. :-)
