WARIO WORLD - BOSS WALKTHROUGH - GAMECUBE

One of the highlights of Wario World has to be the massive boss battles; because there are so many, there's no doubt you'll get stuck somewhere, so this a complete step-by-step walkthrough to help you defeat the games hardest foes.

WORLD 1 - EXCITEMENT CENTRAL

1st BOSS
The first boss’s main attacks are fairly simple; most of the time he will just go for a simple punch that's easy to dodge. Get behind him and pummel him as much as you can until he turns red. When he does, run towards the edge of the platform and wait for him to charge after you, at the last second jump over him and he should fall to his doom, thus depleting one of his skulls (energy). If he doesn't jump off, just keep dodging his charge attack and when he does begin to punch him again, when he falls to the ground do a super move to get rid of his energy. Repeat this 3 times to succeed.

2nd BOSS
Your foe will start off by burrowing in the sand, so he's harder to follow. To get to him, watch out for movement and go after it as soon as you spot it. When you do he'll start throwing projectiles at you, while he is run up to him and punch him as much as you can before he turns red, at that point it's best to just run as he will start his scythes attack. If he starts to attack with his scythes before you get a chance to hit him, retreat and wait for him to appear again. Once you've hit him a certain amount of times he'll turn red and go to the centre of the sand pit, at that point run to the corner and stand on the brick floor, so you don't get sucked in. Follow this technique until all of his energy pieces are gone to beat him.

3rd BOSS - DINOMIGHTY
One of DinoMighty's main attacks to watch out of is the butt bash; whenever you see him jump, get ready as this will cause a tremor. Your best bet is to jump onto DinoMighty's tail whenever you have the chance, not only does this mean he cannot hurt you, but it also leaves him wide open to attacks. After he wanders around a bit looking for you, he'll bend over and look down, this is you chance, simply jump off his tail and perform a butt-bash. When he's dizzy, grab him perform a piledriver to hurt him. Don't bother with your spin attack as this won't affect him. After you've struck him for the third time, he'll perform three successive butt-bashes and begin a new attack in which he fires his tongue at you. The best way to avoid this is either stay on his tail or keep your distance, if his eyes begin to glow red its best to watch out. Repeat this 5 times to beat DinoMighty once and for all.

WORLD 2 - SPOOKTASTIC WORLD

4th BOSS
This giant mannequin will begin its attack by trying to swipe you with its wings. This attack is easily avoided and once he's finished, all you'll have to do is batter him a few times before he collapses and then perform a special attack to hurt him. After you've taken away an energy piece, he'll retaliate by sending a few missiles your way. While easily dodged if you simply jump out of the way, when he's down to only a couple of Skulls, he'll start sending out a fair few. After three hits he'll begin his third attack; his eyes will momentarily glow red and then he'll fly towards you. The best technique to avoid this is to simply run from side to side and when he's finished begin punching him again. Repeat this 5 times to defeat him.

5th BOSS
This boss is slightly trickier than the previous boss encounters you've seen. At first your foe will rush over to your platform on a balloon and simply open itself for attack by removing it's head. As soon as he does, beat him to a pulp until he becomes dizzy, then perform a special move on him. Once you've done this, make sure you run just to the right of the tightrope in which he made his way over to your platform on, he'll throw ball onto the rope and try to make his escape. Jump up onto one of the balls so you can follow him. The less energy he has, the less balls on the giant ball, so make sure you always go to the right as they always appear there. If you don't manage to make it, quickly go to either of the balconies on either side of the platform as the boss will throw the giant ball and the whole platform will blow up. The heads he previously removed will also be after you, so make sure you steer well clear of them. Keep doing this and soon he'll be gone.

6th BOSS - DUAL DRAGON'S
The Dual Dragon's primary attack is its fire breath, which is easily avoided but the key to success. Once one of them has finished the attack, rush over to either one and begin to punch them as much as you can to make them dizzy. If you see the opposite dragon's mouth beginning to flame, drop onto the platform below and wait for you next chance to attack. If you manage to get one of them dizzy, the other should breath fire straight at it, depleting one vital energy piece. You'll have to watch out as they also spray sticky balls across the entire platform, don't get stuck to them as they try to suck them up afterwards. Also, when you're on the bottom platform, stay in the middle otherwise they'll strike you with their hands. Once they've been reduced by two Skulls, the fire breath attack will now spew fireballs onto the bottom platform. They're fairly simple to dodge but can sometimes force you towards the dragons arms. If this happens, it's best you use your dash attack to get back to the centre of the platform before you're hurt. The 5th hit will send them back to fiery pit they came from.

WORLD 3 - THRILLSVILLE

7th BOSS
This boss will start off by floating overhead and dropping rocks at you. This isn't his main attack, though, and soon after he'll begin to try and blow you into the lava pits with his wind attack. To get him down, grab one of the rocks and throw it into the pit just in front of him, if times right, a huge blast of lava will hit him off his perch and down onto the ground. Punch him a few times to get him dizzy then piledrive him into one of the pits in order to decrease his life. If you get hit by his wind attack he'll drop from the sky and run towards you, so quickly swivel the 3D-Stick to break free, then follow the same instructions of punching him a few times and smashing his head into a lava pit. He will also try to get you with two other attacks; first off a simple projectile that will most likely miss, but his other attack is bit more powerful. If his eyes go red, try to run away as much as possible, if get to a lava pit, just jump over it. If you fail to avoid this attack he'll fill you full of air and you'll begin to float, only breaking free once you've swivelled the 3D-Stick. For his final attack he'll jump into one of the lava pits and spin around, causing ground tremors. Simply jump over these, but stay close as once he jumps out you'll have a chance to attack him. As long as you manage to avoid all of these, after 5 hits he'll be gone.

8th BOSS
This huge spider will start off with some simple-enough earth tremors. Once he's done this, begin to dash around the arena, avoiding his energy blasts. After a while, he'll shoot out some sticky balls from his mouth, jump onto one and wait until he sucks them in. Before he eats you alive, jump off the ball and performs a butt-bash to make him dizzy, followed by a spin-attack to hurt him. After two hits he'll begin to do faster tremors, so you'll need to watch out. Simple keep this up for five hits and you'll emerge victorious.

9th BOSS - RED-BRIEF J
J will start off by simply walking after, even though it may look scary, it an odd sort of a way, he only really begins to attack after you've hit him once. After a while he'll start to charge up and make a dash at you, jump over him and you'll run towards the edge of the platform. To hurt him, perform a butt-bash in the centre of the arena when he's balancing right near the lava. After that he'll start to either fire energy balls at you or do a butt-bash of his own. Both are fairly easy to dodge and long as you keep moving and stay away from the corners of the arena. If he starts to spin around in mid-air, dash around the arena to avoid him. He will also try to spin around on the platform, then spin after you. Use the same dashing technique you used against the Spider Boss to dodge him and you should be fine. Again, the 5th hit will spell the end for our bull look-a-like friend.

WORLD 4 - SPARKLE LAND

10th BOSS
This is probably the simplest boss you'll come across. You'll have to start off by punching him until he's does his charge attack, in which he dashes towards you. When he's finished, punch him some more and he'll retreat to one of the three levitating beakers. Follow where he is and when they stop, punch it twice to make him drop out, followed by a special move. After 3 hits, he'll also use his stick attack, in which he tries to strike you with the long cane he possesses. Again, it's easy to avoid and repeating the sequence will prove to be simple, after 5 hits he'll be destroyed.

11th BOSS
To defeat Sparkle Land's penultimate boss, you must start off by dodging its attacks. To begin with, its hands will go after you and its head will cause tremors. Try not to get caught in a corner, as you'll most likely get hit by one of the tremors. After that, the head should begin to spew flames from its mouth, destroying both hands. Running around the head should solve the problem and it's unlikely you'll get hurt. To get rid of some of your foes health, you must hit one of the hands three times, in order to make it dizzy, then throw it at the head. After a few hits, 3 hands will appear, making things very tough, plus you'll have to avoid multiple tremors. The best technique is to wait until the hands re-spawn, then go after them, if you try to get one in the midst of an attack, you'll most likely get hurt. Repeat this to defeat him.

12th BOSS - CAPTAIN SKULL
Probably the best boss in the game, Captain Skull, will take a bit more skill than the others. To start off with, you must use the springs as much as possible. When Captain Skull fires at you, jump on the springs to dodge his attacks. In order to hurt him, you must bounce over to the other side of the wreckage and punch him a few times - followed by a special move. If he starts to charge up an attack go to either the top or bottom of the ship, depending on where you are. If you're at the bottom, bounce up to the bottom on the spring to save time. After 3 hits, don't try to punch him otherwise he'll lunge himself at you, plus you won't cause any damage. Instead look for a barrel and hit him with it to deplete his life. No prizes for guessing how many hits are needed to finish him off. Yes, 5.

FINAL BOSS - BLACK JEWEL
Fans of Banjo-Kazooie should have no problems with this one. The Black Jewel will try to trap in lines of flames, so the best idea is to wait until he starts firing his laser the dash to the left. You must free all of the villagers trapped in crystals, which can be achieved by simply punching them. After you've freed all of them, the Black Jewel will be struck dizzy, ready to be smashed to pieces. To hurt him perform a special move. If you get trapped in the flames, dodge the projectile flames by dashing when they get close. Repeat this eight times to finally complete Wario World and let the credits role.

WARIO WORLD

Mario’s beefy arch enemy for once steals the limelight in his own game, but it’s not the Italian plumber that poses the threat, it’s a selection of pretty tough bosses and this guide will show you how to take them down.

Manoeuvres

Wario has plenty of attacks up his sleeve, and they’re all useful for different purposes. To begin with, use his Piledriver move on the tougher enemies, such as the bosses. It is very powerful and will save your bacon on several occasions.

The Dash Attack can be used to surprise and enemy, and if used repeatedly is much faster than walking through the stage. Use this as an element of surprise to the enemy.

The Somersault move is very useful for reaching those higher ledges as it is basically a double jump and it allows you to jump twice as far as normal.

The Mega Throw is a powerful move that allows you to pick up an enemy and hurl them in the direction you want. You can use this as an attack and to throw enemies onto buttons, for example, that you can’t reach.

The Spin Throw is excellent to use when surrounded by enemies. Pick up an enemy, and spin them around to hit other enemies and stop them surrounding you. You can then release the victim for a powerful kill.

The Ground Pound is great for attacking enemies from above, and is very powerful. You can also use it to push buttons and smash barriers.

Spideraticus

Spideraticus is a pretty difficult boss to tackle and can be found in the Thrillsville, Beanstalk Way stage.

Firstly, beware of his very tricky Shockwave attack, which randomly selects a number of waves and when close to you, will fire homing bolts which will wear down your health. Also watch for his spider web, which being sticky will slow you down and make it easier for Spideraticus to attack you.

The easiest way to attack this boss is to wait for his globe attack. When he fires the stream of globes at you, jump onto one. The globe will then home toward the spider and when you get close enough leap off and ground pound his head. Now he’ll become dazed for a short period of time. Now get hold of him and swing him around and let go. Keep repeating this technique and you’ll beat him no problem.

Dino Mighty

Again a pretty tough boss to defeat, Dino Mighty is found in the Excitement Central, Dino Mighty Showdown stage.

You should be wary of its belly flop attack, as it gets more powerful and more frequent as the battle goes on. Also watch for its tail swing and tongue as they can cause plenty of damage. Don’t get in too close as you’re basically asking for trouble and he will squash you easily.

To kill Dino Mighty, you need to pick up the pillars around the arena and throw it at its feet. This will cause him to hop into the lava, therefore losing health and also giving you coins. Keep repeating this until he eventually bites the dust.

Dual Dragon

Dual Dragon is a very tough customer, and can be found in the Spooktastic World, Horror Manor stage.

Watch for its stream of flames it breathes out, as if you get caught in its path your life will decrease rapidly. Also watch for the glue globes it spits out and then sucks back in, as if you get stuck you’ll get sucked in. Don’t attack him from behind as he can’t be hurt and his tail will deal out damage to you.

To take down the dragon, you’ll need to punch the two heads alternatively until they start to faint. Then, begin attacking the head that isn’t charging up for a flame attack and it’ll get burned. Repeat for the both heads to succeed.

Red Brief J

Again another very tough boss battle. You will fight him in the Thrillsville, Red Brief J Showdown stage.

This guy has a range of lethal attacks. Firstly, watch for the charge attack which I very powerful, but you can tell when he’s going to perform it because he obviously charges up. Also watch for his air dive that will cause lava to land on the arena which will cause damage. Finally, beware of his spin dance attack that occurs suddenly and can catch you off guard. Whatever you do don’t try to attack him directly as it just won’t work sunshine.

The best way to take him down is to wait for him to perform a charge attack. Once he does, quickly move out of the way and that will cause him to reach the end of the arena and loose balance. Now you must ground pound the block at the centre of the platform to send him into the lava. Repeat this technique to defeat him.

Captain Skull

Without a doubt the hardest boss of the game, and you will fight him on the Sparkle Land, Captain Skull Showdown stage.

Right, now be prepared for a rough time here. You need to watch for his escape shot that locks onto Wario and are performed further away. Also watch for his slower but more powerful Boulder shots that deal out plenty of damage. And also note that when he’s down to two skulls, or lives, he’s invincible to all normal attacks.

To start with, get onto his side of the ship by climbing over or using the springs. Once over, perform a triple punch to daze him and use the Piledriver to dish out damage. When he reaches two lives, get hold of a barrel and wait until he’s stationary. Then, quickly Piledriver the barrel into him which will allow you to then Piledriver him again. Repeat this technique to defeat this very tough boss.

Black Jewel

You can find the Black Jewel on the Treasure Square, Courtyard stage but thankfully this boss isn’t too difficult, but does require patience.

Be wary of his fire laser, which is very fast and deadly. Use your Dash Attack to get away from it as it is very powerful and don’t get caught in the line of fire. Also watch for his homing fire attacks which are also powerful. The trick is here to take your time. Don’t go rushing in as its attacks are devastating.

To defeat the Jewel, you’ll need to free the trapped Spritelings scattered across the arena by either punching or dash attacking. Once freed, they will attack the Jewel and when they all have, he will become dazed. Quickly grab it and throw the Jewel out of the arena. Repeat this process to defeat it.
