1.2 - Kudos
**************************************

---------------
What Are Kudos?
---------------
Kudos are like a point system. You get them for doing certain things in a race such as sliding around turns and passing cars. You also get some at the end of a race, how many is based on the difficulty you set for the race.

The only real use for kudos is to up your kudos rank. At first, you don't need to get very many kudos to make your rank go up, you can do it by beating a few races. Once your rank is much higher, it will take a lot more kudos to go up a rank, you wont be able to go up in rank very fast then. When you go up in rank, you get Kudos Tokens, which you can use to buy cars. Basically, you want to get kudos so that you can increase your kudos rank, in order to get Kudos Tokens to buy more cars with.

-----------------
Ways To Get Kudos
-----------------
There are many ways to get kudos, there are 14 different ways to get kudos in a race plus one more for after a race. They are as follows:

Slides: When you do a slide, you will get kudos as long as the slide lasts
Good lines: There is a dark spot on all of the turns in every race, if you follow this line with optimal speed through the turn, you get kudos
Two wheels: If you can get your car up onto two wheels, you get kudos for as long as the car is like that
Air: When you get air from a jump, you will get kudos for as long as your car is in the air
360: If you can do a 360-degree spin during a race, you will get kudos for it
Clean section: You can only get this when you pass a checkpoint. If you went from the last checkpoint to this one without hitting anything, you get the clean section bonus
Clean race: If you can get through the entire race without hitting anything, you get this at the end
Overtake: When you pass another car, you get kudos for it
Draft: When you draft behind a car, you will get kudos for as long as you draft
Overtake (Draft): If you pass a car right after drafting it, you will get extra kudos for the overtake
Time bonus: When you finish a race with a time limit, you get kudos for every second left on the clock
Fast lap: If you get a faster lap time than your opponents at the end of a race, you get kudos for it
Position: If you place higher than third place in a race, you get kudos for it
Cone gates: In Cone Challenges, you get kudos every time you go through a cone gate

To further increase the number of kudos you get, you can do combos. Once you do something in a race to get kudos, you have a window of about two seconds to do a combo. You can start a combo by doing something else to get kudos. For example, if you get a clean section bonus at a checkpoint and then start a slide to get you kudos within two seconds of getting the clean section bonus, a combo will start.
Not only do you get the kudos you would normally get when you do a combo, you get a specially combo bonus, based on the number of things you did to get kudos during the combo. In that example, only two things were done, so the bonus would be small. The more things you do to get kudos, the bigger the combo bonus. This is very important to getting lots of kudos, since eventually the combo bonus can become very large. You can't hit any barrier on the side of the track or any cones in Cone Challenges when doing this, though.
If you do, you will lose all of the combo bonus kudos.

**************************************
1.3 - Kudos Tokens & Medals
**************************************

---------------------------
Kudos Rank and Kudos Tokens
---------------------------
Both online and offline, you have a kudos rank. The rank starts at one, and goes up as you get kudos. You can always see how many kudos you need to go up to the next rank. When your rank goes up, you get some Kudos Tokens. At first you wont get very many, only about 2.
Once your rank gets much higher, you will get as many as 20 Kudos Tokens when you move up to the next rank. Kudos Tokens are used for one thing: Buying new cars. At first, you will only have a few cars in each class of cars. If you want more cars, you will have to spend your kudos tokens on them. The cars in the earlier classes only cost a few kudos tokens each, but the ones in the later classes are much more expensive.

------
Medals
------
Medals are earned after every race. The medals you earn are based on the difficulty you choose for races. When you beat a race on expert, you get a platinum medal. Hard gets you a gold medal. Medium is silver, easy is bronze and novice is steel. After a race, you get a bonus amount of kudos based on which difficulty you beat it on/medal you get. 5000 kudos for expert, 3000 for hard, 1500 for medium, 750 for easy and 500 for novice. Medals easily show you which difficulty you have beaten a race on.
Next to each race, there is a spot that shows the medal you got for the race. There is also a spot next to each series in Kudos World Series so you can see the medals you got in it.
There is also one other use for medals. When you finish Kudos World Series, you will unlock cars based on the medals you get.

**************************************
1.4 - The Garage and The Showroom
**************************************

The garage and the showroom are nothing like how you might think they would be from the way ones in other racing games are. You can actually walk around your garage and the show room to look at the cars. You can move around with the left joystick and look with the right joystick. You wont start out walking when you are in the garage, you have to press Y to go into walk mode to do so.

When you are at the car select screen in single player, you can go to the garage or showroom. When any car is selected, press right and you will have the option to go to your garage. Press right again and you can choose to go to the showroom.

-----------
Your Garage
-----------
Your garage will show you cars you own. You wont be able to see all of the cars, either. Only the ones in the class that you were in when you chose to go to the garage. Cars that you do not own will be covered up, so you can't see much of them. You can still see their stats and you can also press A to buy them if you have enough kudos tokens. If you press A when you are next to a car that you do own, you will select that car for the race that you picked before entering the garage.

There are also a few bonus things in the garage. One is a boombox, which sits on top of a counter. It will play a random song and you cannot change the song that it plays. The other thing is the arcade machine that is on a wall. If you go up to it and press A, you can play the mini-game Geometry Wars. There is more information about that game in its own section in this FAQ.

------------
The Showroom
------------
The showroom shows you all of the cars in the game and not just the ones you own in the currently selected class. The cars wont be all grouped together in here, instead the will be in separate rooms. The rooms have a sign outside of them that tell you what kind of cars will be inside, most of they rooms only have cars from specific manufacturers. Note that there will be five cars in the showroom that are covered. These cars are unlocked by beating Kudos World Series, and will be uncovered when you unlock them.

There is also a very useful feature in the showroom. When you go up to any car, even one that you own, you can press A to test drive it. There is a special track for test drives, where you can get a good feel for the car. Before spending Kudos Tokens on a car, you might want to test drive it to see if you like it.

**************************************
1.5 - The Types of Races
**************************************

There are 7 different types of races in this game. Street Races, One on Ones, Cone Challenges, Hot Laps, Timed Runs, Overtakes, and Speed Cameras.

------------
Street Races
------------
These are simply races against other cars. You will be against 3, 5 or 7 cars in these races. The difficulty setting determines what position you have to come in and the difficulty of the other cars. The higher the difficulty of them, the faster they will be. Expert always requires you to come in first place and hard always requires you to come in second. You always start in last place in Street Races.

-----------
One on Ones
-----------
One on Ones are like Street Races, except there is only one other car to race against. They are usually much easier than Street Races, because you only have to beat one other car. The difficulty settings for these races determine how fast the other car will be.

---------------
Cone Challenges
---------------

Kudos is the goal in Cone Challenges. There are no other cars to race against, only kudos to get. You have to get a set amount of kudos that is determined by the difficulty settings. To help you get kudos and to make the race harder, there are cones on the track. Yellow cones and orange cones. Yellow cones are just there to get in your way, avoid hitting them because hitting one will have the same result as hitting a wall - you lose a kudos combo bonus. Orange cones will also have the same result if you hit them, but they can actually help you get kudos. Orange cones will always come in pairs, called cone gates. You get 10 kudos whenever you pass through the two cones that make up a cone gate. Getting combos are very important in Cone Challenges. You wont be able to beat any Cone Challenges on expert unless you have a combo that lasts through the entire race. There is no other way to get enough kudos. On hard and medium, combos are also important, but you don't have to have ones that are as big to win.

--------
Hot Laps
--------
Hot Laps are the same as time trials. When you pick a difficulty, you are picking the time limit to do the one lap in the race. If you can finish the lap within that time, you will beat the race.

----------
Timed Runs
----------
Timed Runs are the same as Hot Laps, except there will be more than one lap in the race. The time limit you get for the difficulty you choose is to complete the whole race, not just one lap.

---------
Overtakes
---------
Your goal in Overtakes is to pass the other cars on the track. There will usually be up to seven cars to pass, and every one of them starts in front of you. They don't all start the race together, they start the race spread out along the track in front of you. There is no set number of laps in these races and the race ends when you run out of time. The amount of time you get, along with how many of the other cars you have to pass, is determined by what difficulty you choose.

-------------
Speed Cameras
-------------
Speed Camera races don't take place on a standard track that forms a loop. They take place on a segment of a track with you on one end and the track's speed camera at the other end. When you pass the speed camera, you have to be going at the target speed or faster to win. The difficulty you choose determines the race's target speed. To make things harder, the tracks Speed Camera races take place on will never be straight. There are always a few turns somewhere in it, and the key to winning each Speed Camera race is to master the turns in it. Note, there is a time limit in these races, but it isn't very restrictive.

===============================================================================
2. Kudos World Series Mode
===============================================================================

This section gives you help in beating the races in Kudos World Series mode. Some basic advice as given for every race, and I also detail every part of the track that the race is on (Except in some cases where you race on a specific track in more than one different race). In this section under each series (And for each race) is a listing called 'Tier' or 'Tiers'. In every series, you can't play any race in it at once. You have to beat the first ones to unlock the next set, beat that set to unlock the one after that, and so on. I call each set of races a tier. The tier listing under each series is how many tiers of races there are in that series, and the listing under each race is what tier that race is in.

As you go through this mode, you will earn lots of kudos and therefore, lots of Kudos Tokens. When you are still in the first series of this mode, don't bother to spend your tokens on any of the cars there. When you open the second series, buy the car with the best stats before you do any races and then use that car. When you open the next series and the ones after it, do the same thing.

If you are signed into Xbox Live while playing this mode, you can see scoreboards. When you select a race, there will be a list of the top ten people for that race (Based on kudos earned ) on the right side of the screen. You can also select to see the entire scoreboard for the race. You will be added to the scoreboard if you finish the race while still signed into Live.

2.1 - Compact Sports Series
**************************************
Cities: Florence, Sydney, Stockholm
Tiers: 3
Races: 7 (3x Street Race, 2x One on One, 1x Speed Camera)

Since this is the first series, it is obviously the easiest. It is easy to beat many of the levels here on expert and the rest can be beaten on hard without much trouble. Don't bother to spend your Kudos Tokens on any cars in this series. Save them up so that you can buy the best car for the next series right after you unlock it.

-------------------
Race 1: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 1
City: Florence
Track: Duomo 2
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This being the first race, it is obviously very easy. You can beat it on expert without much difficulty. The track itself is simple, too, with not all that many turns.

------------------
Race 2: One on One
------------------
Tier 1
City: Florence
Track: Duomo 1
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: Like the last race, this one is also easy and you can beat it on expert fairly easily, since it is only the second race in the game.

----------------------
Race 3: Cone Challenge
----------------------
Tier 2
City: Sydney
Track: Under the Bridge
Laps: 1
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race can actually be pretty hard. Beating it on medium isn't that difficult, but it gets harder on hard and is very hard on expert. If you want to win on hard, you will have to keep a combo going for the whole race. To win on expert, you have to do that and slide a lot to increase your combo bonus. There is one spot in the race where it is very tricky to keep a combo going. It is on the turn that takes you onto the street with the second checkpoint. Before the turn, there is a cone gate in the right lane.
After the turn, there is a cone gate in the left lane and then the checkpoint. It's actually easier to do this if you don't pass through the second gate. After passing the first one, you will want to slide through the turn. Start the slide early to keep your combo going and try not to make it end until you are past where the second cone gate is. If you try to go through that gate, you have to slow down to get to it and you need the extra speed to get to the checkpoint.

------------------
Race 4: One on One
------------------
Tier 2
City: Sydney
Track: Dawes Point Loop
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race is a bit harder than the ones before it, except for the last one. I had trouble with beating it on expert right away. In order to win on expert, you will have to be able to take the first turn as fast as possible. If you can do that, you will be very close to the other car after the turn and will be able to pass it not long after that.

-------------------
Race 5: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 3
City: Stockholm
Track: Gamla Stan Loop
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: It's hard to get in first place with one of the default cars in hard or expert, but it's possible.
To do so, draft as much as you can along the long street that turns a little bit to the left at the beginning of the race. When you get to the big left turn, you want to cut in front of all three of the other cars. Hit them if you must. If you can do that, you only have to hold your position for the rest of the race.

--------------------
Race 6: Speed Camera
--------------------
Tier 3
City: Stockholm
Track: Speed Camera Track 1
Laps: N/A
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race is easy on medium and below. Hard and expert are a problem if you are using one of the default three cars. If you are, hard should be barely possible to get and I don't know if expert is at all. You probably need a faster car to do it.
The problem with this track is the three turns. You start on a straightaway with a sharp right turn after it. Just after that there is a left turn. Then there is the final turn, a right. After that is a straightaway. At the end of it, where the track ends on the map, is the speed camera. You have to be going at your target speed when you pass it.
What you really have to do is master getting around those turns with as much speed as possible and then use that speed until you get to the end.

-------------------
Race 7: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 3
City: Stockholm
Track: Gamla Oval
Laps: 3
Weather: Sunny
Advice: Like the past few races, the one isn't very easy on hard or expert. You might not want to try either if you haven't gotten any new cars yet. The best time to gain positions is at the beginning of the race. Draft as much as you can along the long road at the start that slightly turns to the right. At the end of it, if you can take the sharp right cleanly, you will get a big advantage.

**************************************
2.2 - Sports Convertible Series
**************************************
Cities: Moscow, Florence
Tiers: 3
Races: 7 (1x Overtake, 3x Street Race, 1x One on One, 1x Cone Challenge, 1x Speed Camera)

Before doing any races in this series, use your kudos tokens to buy one of the better cars for this series. From now on, the first thing you should do when you open up the next series is to use your saved up Kudos Tokens to buy the best car.

----------------
Race 1: Overtake
----------------
Tier 1
City: Moscow
Track: Kremlin 1
Laps: N/A
Weather: Sunny
Advice: Don't start out on hard or expert on this race. Do medium first to see how well you can do, and then if you did well and want to, do it on hard or expert. I say that because this race is a bit more difficult that you might expect. There are a total of seven other cars to overtake (Regardless of what you set the difficulty to) and they all go surprisingly fast, so it isn't easy to catch up to them.
The track itself isn't a problem, since it is mostly a few straight streets connected by wide turns.

-------------------
Race 2: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 1
City: Moscow
Track: St Basil's Circle
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: On expert mode this race is very hard. The car that is usually in first place is very fast, much quicker than the other cars, so it takes a lot of skill to beat it. On the other difficulties, it isn't as hard to get into first place (Or whatever position you have to get in to win).

-------------------
Race 3: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 2
City: Florence
Track: Piazza della Repubblica
Laps: 3
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This level is easy to get in first place in if you used Kudos Tokens to buy a good car. If you didn't, you might only be able to beat it on hard, because the car in first in expert is very fast. The track itself is very easy. It's just a loop.

------------------
Race 4: One on One
------------------
Tier 2
City: Florence
Track: Uffizi
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race isn't all that difficult, except on expert. There is one easy way to win it on expert (Or any other mode), though. You start on a long straightaway. At the end of it, you have to make a right turn and then two small left turns in succession.
It is very easy to hit the car you are racing against in this area. If you hit it so that it runs into a wall or bump the back side of it and cause it to spin, you greatly increase your chances of winning. Doing that is up to you.

----------------------
Race 5: Cone Challenge
----------------------
Tier 3
City: Moscow
Track: Lenin
Laps: 1
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This cone challenge is a bit easier than the last one. In this one, it is very easy to keep a combo going throughout the entire level. To beat it on expert, that is exactly what you will have to do. The hardest parts of this race are the turns. There are no cone gates around any of the turns, so you have to slide if you want to keep a combo going.

--------------------
Race 6: Speed Camera
--------------------
Tier 3
City: Moscow
Track: Speed Camera Track 1
Laps: N/A
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race is a little bit easier than the last speed camera one, because the turns are easier to take. There is one left turn in the middle of the track and then a big, wide, right turn. You go up a hill at the end of that right turn and then make a gentle left onto the straightaway that holds the camera. Even though the turns are easier, it still requires effort to beat the level on hard and expert. You will need a very fast car to do that.

-------------------
Race 7: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 3
City: Moscow
Track: Red Square 2
Laps: 1
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race is hard to win in the higher difficulty levels, even with a fast car. Like in some of the other races like this, you can use a turn near the start of the race to your advantage. You start in a very wide road that has its sides blocked off and is very straight.
At the end of it is a VERY sharp right turn. As the first two cars take it (They should take it together), you can run into the first car as it turns to cause it to spin and crash. If that happens, you can pass it and get into first. That can also cause the other cars to crash, giving you an even bigger advantage. You could also try to pass it without hitting it, but that isn't as likely to get you into first place.

**************************************
2.3 - Coupe Series
**************************************
Cities: Sydney, Stockholm
Tiers: 4
Races: 8 (1x Timed Run, 2x Street Race, 1x Speed Camera, 1x One on One, 1x Cone Challenge, 1x Overtake, 1x Hot Lap)

Now things are getting harder. You probably wont be able to beat any of the races in this series on expert without trying many times and mastering the track the race takes place on. Beating the races here on hard is also more difficult than before, but isn't terribly difficult yet.

-----------------
Race 1: Timed Run
-----------------
Tier 1
City: Sydney
Track: Dawes Point Loop
Laps: 2
Weather: Clear (Night)
Advice: This is the exact same track as the one you raced on for the One on One in the first series, though you have a faster car this time. Because of that, you should remember how to get through this track and specifically, how to take that first turn in it.
Beating this level in hard can be done with a little practice and a good car. Beating it in expert is obviously much more difficult and requires even more practice.

-------------------
Race 2: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 1
City: Sydney
Track: Cumberland Street
Laps: 3
Weather: Clear (Night)
Advice: As usual, you can get into first place at the start of this race. Draft the other cars while you are on the long street that this race takes place on, and when you get to the sharp left turn, you can pass any other cars in front of you, as long as you don't screw up on the turn.

--------------------
Race 3: Speed Camera
--------------------
Tier 1
City: Sydney
Track: Speed Camera Track 1
Laps: N/A
Weather: Clear (Night)
Advice: This speed camera race is even easier than the last two in some ways. It has one big, long, left turn in the middle of it with straightaways at the beginning and end. With a fast car, it is very easy to beat this race on hard.

------------------
Race 4: One on One
------------------
Tier 2
City: Sydney
Track: Harbour Bridge
Laps: 2
Weather: Clear (Night)
Advice: This level is harder than the first ones in the series, mostly because of all of the turns in the track. Getting in front of the other car isn't all that hard, you can do it on the first turn, even on expert.

----------------------
Race 5: Cone Challenge
----------------------
Tier 3
City: Stockholm
Track: Northern 2
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race is a nightmare compared to the last cone challenge. This one has lots of sharp turns onto narrow streets and on straightaways, gates that are placed just a little bit too far apart for you to keep a combo going through them unless you are going as fast as possible. Those sharp turns come before the second checkpoint.
There are three of them very close together, and they are the only turns near that checkpoint. The first one is a right turn, it is especially hard to take because you will probably be going very fast from the last straightaway. Not far after it, there is a sharp left that is followed by a sharp right.

----------------
Race 6: Overtake
----------------
Tier 3
City: Stockholm
Track: Gamla Island Hopping
Laps: N/A
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This track is almost the same as the one for the last street race of the first series. Like in the last overtake challenge, the cars you have to pass are rather quick. If you screw up, you might not be able to catch up. Unlike the last one, you get more time when you increase the difficulty, which makes things easier.

---------------
Race 7: Hot Lap
---------------
Tier 4
City: Stockholm
Track: Round the Riksdagshuset
Laps: 1
Weather: Sunny
Advice: Unfortunately, this track goes through some of the same areas that the cone challenge one did. The worst part of this track is that is has the same very sharp turn onto a narrow street. Other than that, this race isn't horribly difficult, since you still aren't very far in the game.

-------------------
Race 8: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 4
City: Stockholm
Track: Island Hop
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This track is fairly complicated, because it has lots of turns. That is good news for you, since turns are a great place to pass opponents. On hard, you can get into first place before the first checkpoint by passing the other cars on turns. On expert, you can also pass a lot of the cars on the turns, but it will take much longer.

**************************************
2.4 - Sport Utility Series
**************************************
Cities: Edinburgh, Florence, Moscow
Tiers: 4
Races: 8 (1x Hot Lap, 1x Speed Camera, 3x Street Race, 1x One on One, 1x Cone Challenge, 1x Overtake)

Now beating races on expert will be damned near impossible and beating them on hard will require lots of practice. Beating the races on medium still isn't very hard at this level.

---------------
Race 1: Hot Lap
---------------
Tier 1
City: Edinburgh
Track: Princess Street East
Laps: 3
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This race isn't very hard, you an probably actually beat it on your first try. You get a lot of time to beat it on hard, so you can even beat it after making a small mistake or two.

--------------------
Race 2: Speed Camera
--------------------
Tier 1
City: Edinburgh
Track: Speed Camera Track 1
Laps: N/A
Weather: Rain
Advice: Unlike the other speed camera races you've done so far, this one only has turns at the beginning of the track. At the start the track angles to the right and then there is a sharp left turn. After that there is another sharp left and then two gentle turns. The first one is to the left and the second is to the right. After that there is a straightaway with the end of the track at the end. With a fast car, it's very easy to beat it on hard.

-------------------
Race 3: Street Race
-------------------
Tier 1
City: Edinburgh
Track: Princess Street Loop
Laps: 3
Weather: Sunny
Advice: You won't be able to pass all of the other cars on the straightaway at the start of this race, so you will have to pass most of them in the first turn. You have to be careful when passing them in that turn, though.
If you hit one of them, you will be slowed down a lot and the car in first place will get far in front of you. After you are through that turn, the next turn is the best place to get in front of any other cars, especially on expert. If you can't get in front of them here, try to on the next big turn.

------------------
Race 4: One on One
------------------
Tier 2
City: Edinburgh
Track: Grassmarket Eight
Laps: 2
Weather: Night (Clear)
Advice: On hard, it is really easy to get into first place at the beginning of the race. You can do it on the first turn. If for whatever reason you don't get into first on that turn, you can on the turns at the end of the winding road. On expert, you won't be able to get into first on that first turn. When you are on the winding road, just draft the other car. If you get the chance, pass him on this road. If not, pass him when you get to the turns at the end of the road. All you have to do after that on any difficulty is hold your position.

----------------------
Race 5: Cone Challenge
----------------------
Tier 3
City: Florence
Track: Arno 2
Laps: 2
Weather: Sunny
Advice: This cone challenge is a bit easier than the last one. The cone gates are closer together and there aren't any streets that are really narrow. There are only two spots in this race that are a bit difficult. The first is near the middle of the race, between the two checkpoints. After the first checkpoint, you turn onto a long street. At the end of it, it has the turn where you first make a gentle right and then have to make a sharp left.
There is a cone gate in the middle of it. After you pass that gate, you have to do a long slide to get to the next cone gate, since it is kind of far away and this turn makes you go very slow. The other difficult part is near the end of the race, on the same street that the second checkpoint is on. That street is the one that turns to the left at the end and then makes a right turn onto the last street. It's easy to take this turn too fast and hit a wall, or too slow and have your combo end.

----------------
Race 6: Overtake
----------------
Tier 3
City: Florence
Track: Duomo 1
Laps: N/A

Advice: This race takes place on a track you've already raced on. The track itself is rather simple. Since the track itself is easy, it isn't all that hard to beat this race on the harder difficulties, especially since you don't always have less time as the difficulty goes up.
It's easy to pass all of the cars on the hard difficulty, and even easier on expert since you get more time. Just try to avoid going too fast through turns in this race, if you do and end up hitting walls, you will lose a lot of speed and might have a harder time beating the race.
