Retro Game Walkthroughs for Rainbow Six 3 (Xbox)
Submitted By: Cycloon
This is a walkthrough for Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox. By the way, if you have it and no Live, sell it and get KOTOR. Much better single player fun. But anyway…

• TIPS:
• Stay low and go slow…
• Reload when it’s safe and as often as possible
• Use both visors and grenades to the best possible amount
• Aim for the head
• Look and be careful. You will die if you don’t.
• Keep to walls and cover, but not of the explosive kind, obviously
• Pick the best weapons, obviously. If in enclosed spaces, take tear gas. Is useful. Flashbangs are probably better. A gun like the GR3 one is perfect – 3.5X zoom (any less isn’t useable really) and good accuracy.
• Use the map – if you aren’t sure whether to flash/clear etc, look at the map and see if the room is likely to have men in it, or whether it’s possibly a 1 or no-man job.

Alpine Village

Go forwards slowly and peek right and snipe the man up here. Turn left and go straight on from your start point until you reach the end – turn right and follow. Watch out for the men here, and then go up the slope. Send a guy right to clear out the little section that leads through, then regroup and go down the main road. Snipe the men you go down until you reach a final open area. Look out for a guy behind the fence to the left, clear the area, and then enter the house. Climb up the ladder, and flashbang the second door, enter and clear – there is normally a second guy up here. Kill the man downstairs, go down and go right and lob a frag grenade between the banisters. Snipe any more men, and then go down. Exit the left hand door and use the alley to get up the left hand side of the street. Creep out the entrance and snipe the man in the tower, one near a car, and one above you on a balcony. Sneak out and clear the rest of the street, then enter the church. When you reach the side bit inside, set flash/zulu on the door and go right until you see curtains that shield the altar/aisle. Zulu and burst through after the flash with thermal on to spot the bad guys. Kill them and secure the hostage.

Save and go to the open doorway. Fire a shot down the hall and smash up the two guys who run about. Go forwards right, and then down the stairs into the cellars. Now you basically need to creep along in thermal mode and smoke/frag the areas with bad guys and snipe them until you reach the last hostage.

Mountain Highway

Creep along the wall and snipe the man behind the cars, then the guy in the window up and left. Snipe the man who pops out the garage and then clear it out, then enter the tunnel. Order your men to defuse the bomb and wait opposite the door in the side of the tunnel. Kill the men who come out and then quickly snipe the man down the far end. Enter said door and go right and clear the next garage. Creep to the stairs and wait for the guy to move or move your men onto the landing. Enter the next door. Now when your maps shows a long corridor ahead of a door, open and snipe the guy fast. Go down the corridor and open the big doors to your right and either throw/fire a grenade in – the man is behind a desk. Leave and set the men to frag/open one of the doors that opens into a small room. Go to the other door (both in the main corridor) and open and kill the man if the frag doesn’t. Go around the next corridor and crouch. You will be on a walkway. Look down and right and snipe the men – be careful and enter the next door. Set your men to cover and creep out the right door and snipe the men again – thermal vision helps here. Now go back to the small room and head down. Blow any guards away and then smoke the next room and clear. Go left and look on the map for the hostage room. She is on the far side on the left. Set your men to flash/clear on a door near here and then enter another one. Watch out for men high up. Secure her and leave.

Go through the nest corridor – watch out for a guy above and behind you, little biatch. Enter the next room and then flash/clear the next big room. You will see you wind back up to the other end of the tunnel. Frag the door when you first reach the tunnel and then slowly creep up, use your team first! This bit is tricky, but be patient and watch all angles. Secure the 2nd hostage to win.

Oil Refinery

Go left and snipe the men, then enter the side door. Run through until you reach a door at the end of a small corridor. Open it and fire/throw a grenade and close it again. Open it and mop up any survivors. Go forwards and right and then up the stairs. Watch for a guy who runs and shoots through the windows, and then set open/frag/clear on the right hand door and then open and clear. Go right and right again and frag the next door and kill the two men in the room overlooking the boom. Exit and defuse it while men are on cover. Kill the man who runs in and enter the door he entered by.

Run down the stairs and enter/clear the next area. Once you have cleared the interlocking rooms, go to the door near the next bomb – be careful. Open it and kill the man at the far end, then quickly the two guys on ground floor and then the men at the windows above – do this without stepping on the lower floor until the far window and floor is clear, then creep on to the lower section and look up and right and snipe. Defuse the bomb and go down the corridor. Kill the next man and then go through the next area. Go upstairs and kill the guy who appears right and above. Frag/breach the next door and clear and then carry on. Set the men to open/clear on the door on the right and then go left and crouch near the thin window. Zulu it and pop up and head shot all the men and your mates will finish. Enter this computer room and go left and grenade the men near the crates at the end. Now go around and crouch and snipe the men in the large open area. Dash out and look right and shoot the tanks beneath you and just kill everyone as fast as possible.

Go down and through the next section. This bit is tough. Open the doors and snipe any men then lob a grenade around the corner where the RPGs are – quickly or else the hostages die. Once they are dead enter the hangar and rescue the hostages.

Island Estate
Go up the path and enter the kitchen and kill the man. Go through and peek around the corner and smack in the guys. 2 more will appear from doorways. Go down and snipe the man up the steps, then go up and lob any grenade right and then dash left and kill the man in the bathroom. Go down where you grenaded and kill the man. Then carry on down the corridor and see the rolling guy. Kill him if possible. Go into the door and open up the next set and kill the men. Go up the small stairs and flash/zulu a door and clear the room. Tell your friend to secure the woman, then go down the other stairs. Kill the man behind a screen and then go left in the large sitting room. Kill the men and then open the door to the small courtyard. Kill the man who enters and watch out for the guy on the balcony above. Grenade the next room and run through. Flash the final room and rescue the man.

Now, position your mate by the pillar and yourself by the door, and use your thermal goggles. First pick off the men who appear above your friend (2) and then snipe any and all as fast as possible – this is really hard. Call your mate back to the door if he nearly dead, and grenade the wall to your left of needs be. Eventually the heli will appear, so keep on killing!

Shipyard

Sneak around and snipe the man on the crane, then try to kill the men lower down. Snipe the second man and then set your men to cover. Run down the far end and climb up the ladder. Snipe the men, then go back down and clear the area. Enter the building and don’t go near the window in a room in here – sniper.

Instead, go down the steamy corridor and enter the Go up the stairs and kill all the enemies. Send your men down one side of the room, you go down the other and pick all the baddies off. Regroup at the end and go into the small room. ‘Cover’ the men and climb up the ladder. Snipe all the guys below, then climb out onto the walkway and run around and pick any more off. Defuse the bomb on the floor and then enter the doorway with the fluttery stuff covering it. Go downstairs and go around the windy corridors. Enter the next bomb room with full flash cover, set your men to defend and then defuse – men will appear above, so be damn quick and move and snipe. Exit and go right and enter the long hallway – men appear in front and behind. Dash to an alcove and kill them and then go downstairs. This next bit is trickier.

Enter the next room fast and snipe all the men – quick grenades and bursts. More appear above. Enter the next room and send your team down the left path while you charge over to the right and look left into the bomb room. Kill anything except your team, and then disarm the bomb – save just before this bit, obviously.

Crespo Foundation

Go forwards and enter the side door and kill the man. Go back to the main doors and open them and mow down the guy at the end of the corridor. Go forwards and right and kill the two men in the half dark/half light double room. Now go through the side doors until you reach a door – look at the map to see a large room. Breach and mow down the men inside and then go through the next section. Work through and go up the stairs – snipe the man behind the barricades. Open the next door and as fast as lightening kill the man inside – he likes his grenades. Go through and flash/clear the hostage room (leave your men at the first door and go right and silence the man in the open room, then enter through the door there) AFTER clearing out the small room that you pass – 2 men there. Secure the hostage. Watch out for the room with lots of cubicles in. Full of evil men, so peek and snipe with thermal.

Go down the hallway and enter the double doors and go upstairs. Snipe the men in the next area – wait for more to appear, and clear the rooms to the right hand end of this and the circular room at the other end. Then, open the door to the 2nd hostage room and snipe all the men in the windows – nobody is on ground level. Secure the hostage. Go out and to the circular room area and then go left and up the stairs and through the doors. Basically you have to clear the room and the guard destroying the records.

Old City

Look around and then go along the path. Snipe the two men down below and then the next two to the left – fountain and window. Now sneak along the path right and wait for a guy to appear at a window – finish him and the guys below, then go down the street – look up and left, any on the road, one down a side alley and at the end, one in a small alcove at foot level. Enter the house.

Leave and go down and then use the cover to eliminate the guards. Dash across to the wall and use the cover again on the men in the yard. This level is really just like that – simply move to the next set piece and fight them off and move on again. Go to the final house – enter and go left and clear, then right – snipe the men at the far end, and then enter the left hand door and clear the men on the balconies etc. Go p the stairs and flash/clear the room and secure the hostage to end.

Alcatraz

Advance slowly and snipe the men (thermal goggles) and then use the alcoves and be very careful. Enter the side path and shoot the red barrel, then charge down the men at the end. Go back and up the stairs. Now save and enter the room. Make your men cover the right hand wall and run to the far end of the room and take cover. Men will appear all over – your mates can deal with a lot, but snip and be careful. Finally, a wave will crash through the doors, but be jumped by your mates in their position – haha! Enter the right hand door carefully and snipe the man in here, and then go in and up the stairs. Go around and be careful – grenade the inlet to the left to kill the men and then go around the top of the room below.

Enter the next set of corridors and kill the men until you reach the hostage room. Flash/clear and secure him, then advance by yourself. Go down the stairs and into the huge room. Run to the right hand near corner and snipe the barrel near the men above you, then the men ahead of you. Your team will rejoin you, and use them to clear the room. Enter the small door to the left and go upwards and clear the next balcony. Finally, you will come across the room Crespo is in. Flash/Clear/Zulu one door and find another entrance. Zulu and clear it and secure Crespo.

Import/Export

Go forwards and right. Set your men to zulu clear the door and go to the window just around the corner. Snipe the men in here (watch for one who appears to the right of the door your men are at, far end of room) and then zulu the men. Enter the door opposite and clear, then set the men to wait on the door that opens on the corridor. Go to the near end of this and then snipe the men at the far end and then run down with your team to collect the evidence. Exit and go up the steps and quickly shoot the two snipers – one is hard to see behind the tree if you go too far up the steps.

The next section is all about clearing the rooms as fast as possible after entering to keep safe – there are several and breach/fragging is your best bet. Or snipe carefully – you know the drill by now. Watch out for a guy with a shotgun high up. Near the grenaded door, wait for several more to appear and go off, then enter and snipe the men. Use thermal vision to see the men in the next bit and then go to the left and go through the open doorway. Go up the steps and snipe the men and then go to the door and blow it open to kill the man (or shoot through it) and then grab the documents.

Snipe the guy through the window (smoke grenade helps) and then snipe any more bad guys you see. Watch to the right and up for another sniper and kill him fast. Snipe any more men and then go down to the trucks and go under the square opening to the warehouse doors and kill the ‘tangos’ here. Run up to the warehouse and your men report activity. Stay concealed and enter the warehouse and peek about – snipe anyone. There are men above you on ledges and in the windows.

Penthouse

You can’t shoot. Fun. Or throw anything. Wahey! Point of the game?!! Anyway. Use the little red dots on the map as markers for evil terror men who are out to kill you!!!!!1! Open the door, go left and left again and enter the double doors. Head left and creep very very very slowly behind the bloke watching footie. Go into the kitchen and go up the steps. Use the map to check all is clear and then go into the doorway ahead. Still go very slow! Bug the phone in here.

Open the next door and wait for the guard to leave. He walks away, and follow him. When his dot goes around a corner, follow and go left and to some more glass doors. Go past them ad go into the opening. Climb the stairs and go left and use your map to espy the guard leaving. Go right and left and watch for any guards on your map (why cannae you have this normally?!) and enter and go around the screen and hack the computer.

Now you can kill. Hmmm, bugs?!! SECRECY?!! Anyway. Kill anyone near you and then exit and go right and then go down the stairs. Snipe the terrorist and then hurry to the accountant and kill any nasties. Watch the hallway for men and kill the men who come down the stairs. Look right and left to check the perimeter and get the accountant to follow. Go left at the split an kill the men coming up stairs and go left and down and snipe the footie men and then look right at the window near the kitchen and then snipe the man and the one who follows in the room. Go down the hallway and then go left. Go back through the glass doors and then u-turn to the right and then through the doorway. Go up the stairs and up to the door at the top. Snipe the lone guard and then go to the table and go right to the fan/air conditioning thing.

Meat Packing Plant

Go up, left and right and then look right and kill the guard and his friend lower down. Flash/clear/zulu the door on the right and then go back and go back trough the room to a door on the left. Zulu and then enter your door and snipe the enemies. Go left and snipe a guy at a window. Go left to the closed door and open it up and then go back into the first hall. Go right and to the double doors. Flash/clear the door and look left/right fast for guards. Go up the stairs and then go left and down more steps and clear the next room. Then go back up and right. Down the other stairs to another back door in the room and then clear the room. Snipe all the men and wait for men to run in. Kill them, and then go right enter a small room and kill a man in here. Enter the next door and then kill another man and secure the hostage.

Exit and go down the stairs and go right past barrels an then left and then spray the men. Clear the next section and then enter the next little area. Go into the single doorway and then open/flash the double doors. And then find another entrance, zulu it and clear. Go through and up some stairs and right at the top, up more steps to a ledge. Follow it and then to some more enemies. Kill them and then go to the door and unlock it and enter. Go left and then open the right hand door and then look through the glass to see a hostage. Strafe left and then snipe the man to the right of the poor guy. Kill another man and then secure the hostage after clearing the room.

Go down the stairs and then look left/right and then go to the warehouse doors and then go left and kill the man inside and then send your team into the foggy room (use thermals). Open the next door and then go through another room and then go down the path to the right. Open/frag/clear the next double door bit and enter at a different angle to maximize killing power. Look out for men above. Go to the raised area and then use cover to kill the terrorists who appear out of the warehouse. A guy appears behind you as well, so be careful. Go up the steps and then enter the warehouse and then run over to the chemicals.

Garage

Enter the double doors and go left and open the next doors. Smoke it and then thermal the room and ‘cleanse’ it. 3 guys run from the left up above. Kill the RPG man as fast as possible above you when he appears and then go down the stairs to the left. Watch on the right for a guard and then kill him fast (RPG). Go to the left doorway and then go to the next door. Go left and follow the hall and kill any men. Go down the stairs and snipe any more men and then kill any more men as you go down. Go down the hall to the right and go to the open doors. At the second crouch and snipe the men. Kill everyone and then another RPG man will be in this section – clear it out calmly and quickly and then enter the workshop. Go left and around the wall and kill any more men. Go the way you were heading and to an open door. Use the hall and go left to another workshop, and spot Vargas. Save.

Shoot the terrorists and then go left and past the wall and then kill the next guy and look right for more. Clear the whole section and then go through the door to the right and then there will be more bad guys. Kill them and follow the path up stairs and kill the man in the alcove and then go through into the room ahead and then left at the fork and then go left and into another small doorway. Go right and kill the driver, very very fast.

Parade

Go left and then smoke the small market thing. Snipe the men above and to either side and then there are two more on ground level. Kill them using the thermal vision and then go left and kill another man. Go down the right hand path and kill another terrorist beneath you. Look up and kill the snipers who appear – window, rooftop on right and behind ad on a lower rooftop. Evil. Clear them and then open the locked door and enter. Kill any more men on rooftops and then go up the stairwell. Go up and dodge the grenade, then go fully up and kill the man. Go left down the hallway and then snipe a man through the open window. Go down and clear/breach the next rooms and then go down the hall again and go right to more doors.

Go left door first and kill more men and then go right door and go down – another grenade is thrown. Go down and kill him and then use team cover to approach the bomb section. Snipers appear in the lit windows above, so be careful, and then kill any ground level ones. Defuse the bomb after killing them.

5 minutes. Save, face the bomb and turn left to double doors. Enter and kill the men and spin and kill a guy behind. Go past his body and go through the door. Snipe the man near the pool table, and then go through the archway. Kill the men fast and then another by the right of the large arch. Kill more terrorists who appear from the right. Strafe left and look over there for more enemies, and then go to the end of the room and through the large archway to the left corner. Open it and proceed through. Go up to the top of the steps and proceed cautiously near the upturned vending machine. Men here. Grenade the next barricade and then go ahead through the doorway. Go right and crouch in the next area and turn left and kill the man, and then look left for another. Go down the hall and look around for more. Go left and left up some stairs for another guard at the top. Enter the hall and go left and follow it to another square. Peek left and kill the next pair of idiots, and then look over to the right for another couple guarding the area. Go right and run back to the hall and kill more on the glass roof. Clear the whole section and then approach laptop and hold A.

Airport

All alone… Anyway. Be quiet – no spotting for a while me afraid. Crouch and open the door and look left for the guard to move. Wait for him to bagger off (watch his patterns) and then head left at the corner and follow the hallway to the door. Open the door and go up the stairs and then use your thermal vision to spot another man. When he enters your area, go back down the stairs and listen for him leaving the area. Go back up and wait for another guard to move out the next room (listen for doors). Enter quietly and quietly go to the right and open another door and close this door behind you. Spot any guards and then wait for them to move so you can climb down the ladder and then follow a guard stealthily to your objective – plant the explosives after dodging him.

Now, pull out ya gun and set it on full auto (if you could). Time to get nasty. Kill anyone and everyone and then go right and open the door and kill the tear gas grenadier. Watch the windows for RPG men. Kill them after they fire a few to give their position – be careful!!
Spy out the next door and kill the man to the right and then kill another one. Look around the right corner and then kill all the next lot of idiots. Go out to the small aircraft and kill any more bad guys – grenades will flush them out. Another RPG will fire from behind you. Kill him and pray he misses (of course he does). More enemies will appear. Stay covered and pick them off. Finish them off with grenades and then go forwards and then go right to a half open warehouse door. Look inside and snipe the man. Sneak in and clear it out. Go to the far right corner…

Save and you have to chase Crespo. Peek right and snipe the men. Kill more men near Crespo’s old position and then look left for more tango goodness. Now clear the whole front section and then go all the way around the ledge and kill the man above and then look right and up to a high ledge for an RPG man. Kill him and then some more guards lower down. Now kill another man an then go right and to an open doorway, in the back left corner. Go in and go up the stairs and through the door on the right. Enter and then run back out as grenades fly. Re-enter and then smash in their faces (window) and then go through the narrow room and look right. Kill the camper and then go down the stairs and go to the crates on the right. Use cover to pick off three more guards and then go into the doorway nearby and then look right and kill the man here. Now go around the corner, lean out and kill three more guards…

Congratulations!

--------------------------Multiplayer Tactics Guide-------------------

------------------- (walkthrough by ßora† SagdiyeV)----------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a guide for multiplayer adversarial online play, and does not include tactics for the co-operative multiplayer game modes.

There are 3 types of adversarial game mode : Team Survival, Survival and Sharpshooter. The tactics for each are detailed below, as well as some general tips at the end.

----------------------------TEAM SURVIVAL------------------------------

Team Survival is the most popular adversarial game mode by far. This sees 2 teams battle it out in a fight to the death. The rules are simple – kill all of the opposing team before they kill you, within the allotted time. Despite this simplicity, there are many tactics which may be employed to ensure a decisive victory :

·Weapon/Equipment Choice – This is very important, although generally speaking, once you have found a weapon/equipment set that works for you, you will keep that selection all the time. There are certain factors to take into consideration. You want a rifle that dishes out a decent amount of damage, doesn’t have a stupid amount of recoil, and is pretty good at all ranges. You may prefer one with a sight that zooms right in, or you may be happy with one that has no sight at all. It is all a matter of personal preference. Backup weapons also require some thought. If grenade launchers are enabled, you will no doubt want to equip one of these babies, as if everyone on the opposite team has them, and you don’t, you could find yourself at a distinct disadvantage. If they are not enabled, you may wish to consider a decent pistol, such as the Desert Eagle, which will come in handy when your rifle runs out of ammo. Grenades are a must, you may go rounds without using them, but chances are there will be a situation where you really need them before long. You may wish to take a lot of grenades, or some distraction devices such as the smoke grenade or flashbang as well. If thermal vision is enabled for the round, smoke grenades lose their effectiveness, but flashbangs remain very useful. One more thing to consider is tear gas – if the opposite team plans to use this, a mask is imperative. You will probably not know this until you have had a game with them, but if there are clouds of tear gas everywhere, you are going to be screwed without a mask.

·Work as a team – despite it being called ‘team survival’, you would be surprised how many games turn into ‘every man for himself’ style affairs, with little or no co-ordination within teams, the result being a chaotic play style, unnecessary deaths, and even team kills (or friendly fire). It should NOT be underestimated just how effective a team working together can be. Attacking and defending, in a co-ordinated fashion can make a team almost unstoppable. Try to choose a role early (i.e. a person to watch your back, and whom you can watch over) and stick with it – don’t wander off on your own personal agenda, to get sniped, and your partner having no idea what happened.

·Keep each other posted – If you encounter enemy, let your team know. If you die, you can no longer warn them, so tell them the second you encounter enemy, then they can act upon this information, even if you are killed shortly after.

·Fire in the hole – Let team mates know if you plan to throw a couple of grenades down some stairs for example. If they run down, not knowing this, and get blown to hell, it is not going to help your chances of winning. Of course, this assumes friendly fire is enabled, but it is good practise to get into anyway.

·Camping – this practise is frowned upon by most players. It is a cheap way of getting kills, but sometimes it is necessary. For example, if you are the only player on your team left, against 2 or more enemy, you are not going to last in a fire-fight, so getting into a decent hidey hole and evening the odds a bit is a good idea. Spending the whole round crouched behind boxes, shooting at unsuspecting enemy is looked down upon however, and is likely to get you kicked from the server. Another time it is reasonably acceptable is at the beginning of rounds – choose a bottleneck, where you know it is highly likely the enemy will have to travel through, and fix your sight on this location. Whether you get a kill here or not, you will have to move on straight afterwards, as your location will be given away. Only inexperienced players would walk into such traps anyway, but it is worth a try.

·Booby Traps – Often overlooked, there are several devices available designed specifically for setting traps. The remote charge, claymore and door breaching charge are all used for creating death traps out of parts of the map. Of course, really this is just a different type of camping, as you need to stay hidden, but in view of the location in question, to detonate the charges. They can be very effective if used properly, but spending all your time crouched behind boxes with the detonating switch in your hand is hardly any fun, and is likely to rile other players.

------------------------------SURVIVAL-----------------------------------

Survival sees you versus every other play, in an every man for himself killfest. Many of the tactics employed in the Team Survival Game can be used here, with some notable additions and minor differences.

·Weapon Choice – All the advantages of the weapons mentioned in the team survival guide, are valid here, although you may wish to consider the use of suppressed weapons. Suppressed pistols, sub-machine guns and sniper rifles are particularly useful in this game mode. This is because you want to kill players without giving away your location. In team play, this is near impossible, as all the players know where their team-mates are, due to the blips shown on their radar. Should one of their comrades die, their corpse will still be shown on the radar, giving them a rough idea of where the sniper was. In this game mode, the only blip on the radar is yourself, meaning that the only clue you have to the whereabouts of the enemy is either the sound of gunfire, or by physically spotting them. Camping and using suppressed weapons may seem like cheap tactics, but they are very effective tactics in a game where everyone is your enemy, and death is always just a couple of seconds away. The good thing here is that you don’t have to worry about friendly fire, so chucking grenades all over the place with wild abandon may net you some lucky kills.

·Listen for gunfire – As fire-fights take place, you have the luxurious advantage of being able to waltz in unseen, and pick off players who are distracted with shooting at each other. If you are quick you may get several kills in one go this way, at the very least you’ll no doubt kill one. Be wary of this happening to you though.

·Use every nasty trick in the book – you only get one life here, once you have lost it, that’s it. It’s not like team play where your team mates can go on to win the round for you. So use every devious tactic at your disposal, and rest assured everyone else will be doing just that too.

-----------------------------SHARPSHOOTER-------------------------------

Sharpshooter is the traditional multiplayer game, where you have a set time to bag as many kills as you can. Each time you die, you will respawn, so stealth takes a back seat to urgency to attain large kill scores.

·Weapons Choice – Stealth means nothing here, the idea is to kill as many people as you possibly can, so choose weapons that kill quickly, such as the high powered rifles, shotguns, or even the oh so cheesy .50 sniper rifle. Back-up weapons should be the same, very powerful, so either grenade launchers or the desert eagle. Grenades are a definite, distraction devices are handy, but not as essential as in the other game modes.

·Do NOT camp at spawn points – this is the most irritating and downright low practises in the game. Camping by a known respawn point and killing the poor sap who appears there, time after time, is nothing short of sad, and anyone doing this should be kicked immediately. If you are on the receiving end of this cowardly play, I suggest you find another game, and avoid the freaks in future.

·CHARGE! – this is probably the most effective play style. Lurking in shadows, and trying to cover your tracks is not really a good idea – someone else will steal your kills! Just walk from room to room, covering your back properly, and find people to shoot. You’ve only got a limited time to get a decent score, and if half that time is spent gingerly creeping into rooms like a frightened kitten, you’re going to come last.

------------------------GENERAL ADVERSARIAL TIPS-------------------------

Here are some tips that are useful in any of the game modes mentioned, also some devious tactics that I have discovered, that may bag you some cheeky kills!

·Keep your gun aimed at head-height at ALL times – If you are to run into an enemy player, you need to kill him/her immediately. Body shots just won’t cut it, by the time you’ve fired off enough rounds to kill them this way, you’ll be dead. The exception here is the .50 cal sniper rifle, which will kill a player no matter where you shoot them. But this is a cheesy weapon, and in my opinion one for the newbies.

·Never run and fire – It is difficult enough to aim the gun properly when stood still, you will have no chance whatsoever of killing someone while on the move.

·Fire in short bursts – Tapping the trigger once will usually fire a quick volley of 3 rounds. By doing this, you will maintain accuracy, and hence get some great kills, even at longer ranges. Full automatic fire is useless at long range, and is even questionable when you are stood a couple of foot away from the enemy. Resist the temptation to unload on people. It looks good, but is very ineffective.

·Leave no trails – Closing doors behind you is a great idea. This will confuse any pursuing enemy, and in some cases put the enemy completely off guard. Experienced players are aware of this tactic, but even if they suspect you may be using it, they cannot be 100% sure – if you wander around leaving open doors in your wake, they will be in no doubt that you were there, and you’ll reap the benefit – a bullet in the back of the head.

·Listen through doors – Standing close to a door and listening will tell you if anyone is coming. They will no doubt be wary about walking straight in, so you’ll have a few seconds to react. A good tactic is to pull the pin out of a grenade before approaching the door. As soon as you hear them approach, drop it, and it will kill them as they open the door. If it is a wood door, it may kill them before they even open it.

·Use grenades to blow open doors – Get in a good sniping position, then take a grenade and throw it to the door. Quickly change to your rifle, and zoom in. When the door blows, you will already be in a perfect sniping position, and if anyone is in the room, they will be easy pickings for you.

·Shoot through doors – Most rifles will shoot through wooden doors, some of the higher powered ones (e.g. G3A3, AK47) will penetrate steel doors also. If you know there are enemy behind the door, spray it with bullets, you can get kills quite easily this way.

·Flash bang Snipers – If you suspect there are snipers trained on a certain location, throw a flashbang out before you, when you emerge, hopefully they will be blinded, giving you vital seconds to take them out. They may look away however. A good way around this is to throw a phosphorous or regular frag grenade out first, to cloud their view, then the flash bang. They will not see you throw the flashbang, due to the smoke, and therefore will hopefully not look away. This is not a fool proof tactic, but has worked many times for me.

·Smoke grenades – these are incredibly effective PROVIDING thermal vision is disabled. You may wish to use it to distract players into thinking you are somewhere you are not. Or you may wish to simply hide in the smoke. Thermal vision negates the usefulness of these grenades though, so leave them at home in such matches.

·LEARN EVERY MAP! – this is a fairly obvious tip, but knowing every inch of every map makes things 10x easier. You need to know all of the bottlenecks, all of the sniper positions, some good hiding places should you be outnumbered, and anything at all that can help you. If you know a map well, you can organise attacks far more effectively.

·Watch your back – I don’t know how many people I’ve watched play this game, without watching their backs. Every couple of seconds, turn around and make sure you are not being followed. You will get a sense if anyone is there eventually, but sauntering around like a wet lettuce is asking for a bullet in the back of the head.

·Try to vary your tactics as often as possible – even the best tactics in the world can be countered, and if you insist on doing the same thing, round after round, people will soon get wise to it and pump your guts full of lead.
