Retro Game Walkthroughs for Manhunt (Xbox)
Submitted By: Imperial Leather
Hello there and welcome to my Manhunt Walkthrough. Over the Past few weeks I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing this game – all thanks to a certain newspaper that advertised it. I think this is a great time to guide you through the game – and keep you all out of trouble – this guide is a weapon, tactics and ratings guide with plenty of hints tips and cheats – it won’t guide you though the levels, because they are too liner; and if I told you where the hunters are then it would really spoil the game – and you wouldn’t have any drive to play. However it does contain a small level guide to tell you what times you should aim for. Please enjoy this guide, and I hope you can make good use of it.

In My guides you can bet your boots on two golden things. They are always Multi-format friendly; meaning they guide you through all the versions unless otherwise stated. And my guides will not contain spoilers – I don’t believe in spoiling a game for anybody.

THIS GUIDE WILL WORK FOR ALL FORMATS OF MANHUNT & WILL NOT CONTAIN ANY SPOILERS WHATSOEVER. Written on the Xbox version – but is friendly for both PS2 and PC as well.

On with the Guide:

Contents:
1. Manhunt Ratings
2. Execution Tactics and Tips
3. Weapon Guide – In depth
4. Time Goals for each level - and what items you might find
5. Hints and Tips – Important Information
6. Unlockables and Cheats for Replayability
7. The End

Quite a Big guide, that should help you in every area, please enjoy!

***Manhunt Ratings***

As you should already know you are been told what to do by the director – the mysterious voice that you can hear throughout the game. There are two difficulty levels in the game. Fetish and Hardcore, fetish being the easier of the two. If you have selected Fetish then you can earn a maximum of 4 stars per level – and hardcore is a little harder, and will have you earning 5 stars per level. Although its not compulsory to earn the maximum stars, it will earn you bonus features later on in the game.

Earning stars is all about Varity, and keeping the director entertained. You will need to use different executions on different enemies – you should also do a little hand to hand combat with enemies too. Using Lures will also get your ratings up – all of these tactics can be found in the next section. Fetish is recommended for beginners – because you have the use of your radar – but hardcore players will have to suffer and do without. Don’t play hardcore until you’ve mastered fetish.

***Execution Tactics and Tips***

This is a really important part of the guide – I advise you take note. Executions are what earn you stars in the long run – you must use a Varity of weapons, and a Varity of different executions. Plastic Bags and Glass Shards can only be used once – where as weapons like machetes, crowbars and baseball bats can be used as much as you like.

Without executions you’re going to have a hard time – as executions take and enemy out with one fell swoop. You can use any weapon to go to hand to hand combat if you like. Although this process should be used by choice. If you’re sneaking up on an enemy and he sees you – then you must fight him – OR RUN AWAY. There’s two buttons to fight, one button is used for fast swift attacks, and the other is used for a brutal attack – but is much slower. Use a nice combination to take them out. Also use the target button to move around your enemy, and fight much easily. The target will change colour from green to red when the enemy is nearly dead – it’s a good way of indicating his health.

Before I tell you more about executing let me tell you about running away like a girl. If you are seen then use the sprint button and run around the corner into the nearest shadow. Shadows hide you from enemies, and unless they’ve seen you go in then you will become invisible to them. Once you have ran away undetected you are ready to sneak up once again.

If enemy’s are far away then tap on a wall with your weapon, or throw a lure weapon, this will attract the hunters attention and bring him closer – ready for the pounce? More Lure information will be covered over the following chapters.

Now, Use the target button and walk slowly behind the enemy – keeping a distance. Never sprint behind the enemies; it will give away your position. Then when you get close enough the target will change from green to white – and the director will say “get him!” now hold down the fighting button – you can press either one. Now your holding down the button the target will change to a yellow colour. If you let go now you will do a mild execution. Keep on holding the button down till the target changes to amber. If you get go now you will do a hard execution. If you keep on holding it down – time permitting the target will change to red – this is the highest you will go. Let go to perform a sick exaction. Now you may either hide the body or carry on – remember that hiding a body will cost you time, but if you don’t hide it, and other hunters find it then if may cost you more time. Think about this.

***Weapon Guide – In depth***

This is the main part of the guide, I hope you are enjoying it so far. In the game you will find for types of weapon. Luring weapons – the colour yellow, Disposable weapons – the colour green, small weapons – the colour blue, and large weapons – the colour red. Some of the small and large weapons cannot be used to execute enemies; most of these weapons are normally guns. Below you will see the weapons, what they do, how to use them and any other tips bundled with that particular weapon.

1. Luring Weapons – Yellow

These weapons will lure enemy’s right where you want them, just target then throw in any direction. If you target and enemy and throw a lure at them it will stun them for 5 seconds, allowing you to either make a quick getaway or a fast kill. Play about with the lures, because you can pick up and reuse most of them.

[ Brick ]

I think this is the first lure you find in the game. You can throw it any direction and it makes a loud noise to attract or distract enemies. You can also throw this through windows, or stun people with it. Its re-usable too.

[ Can ]

On of the later lures in the game – its exactly the same as the brick.

[ Bottle ]

Its good for throwing at people, but it doesn’t really make a load noise. You cannot re-use it either.

[ Head ]

You can chop people chop off with various weapons. Any level of Machete or maximum red of the wire will chop off somebody’s head. Equip it and throw – it makes a load noise and will distract the enemy – and may even send them into a panicking frenzy. Its re-useable.

2. Disposable Weapons – Blue

These weapons are small, fast and discreet – you can use them to attack when you go head to head – or you can use them to execute people. If you want to execute use the method written in the section above. Once used, the weapon will disappear, so use them wisely.

[ Plastic Bag ]

The first Disposable weapon in the game. Use go behind somebody, and hold the attack button for as long as desired. It’s a silent but deadly weapon – great for minimum noise.

[ Wire ]

Probably one of the most gruesome disposable weapons in the game – experiment with different executions – hold it down until the target turns red, and you be able to use their head as a lure. Not very noisy, and useful for getting a lure.

[ Glass Shard ]

I think this is the second disposable weapon in the game, its quite good too. Its great for Hand to Hand combat, and takes the enemies down with little fuss when it comes to executing. Experiment with different executions.

3. Small Weapons – Blue

Small weapons are good for a few reasons. They are small, therefore they wont make too much noise. Some small weapons are also useful for opening gates and secret areas. There are also some guns in this section, they are found towards the end. Please not that you cannot execute with guns. Read on to educate yourself on small weapons.

[ Blackjack (AKA Small Club) ]

The Black Jack is a smaller version of the Baseball bat found in the large weapon section. Its great for taking enemies down either way. It’s the first small weapon in the game, but it makes quite a bit of noise for a small weapon.

[ Crowbar ]

Crowbars are superb. They don’t make too much noise, and they are perfect for hand to hand. They are good for luring enemies into traps with the unique noise that is made when you tap a wall. It’s also useful for getting though gates and doors with padlocks on.

[ Machete ]

The Machete is my favorite weapon – not only is it perfect for slashing enemies in hand to hand – it’s a great execution weapon. Yellow, Amber or Red executions will chop off the victims head leaving you with the best lure available. Its quite noisy though, and the executions are noisy too.

[ Knife ]

Small, fast and sharp the knife does it all. Its similar to the disposable green weapon – the glass shard. Except this isn’t disposable and it will open gates tied with rope - Very quiet too.

[ Sickle ]

You can find with weapon in harvest moon – except you use it for cutting grass on that game – any ideas what you use it for in Manhunt? Its very quick and very silent - gruesome executions too.

[ Meat Clever ]

This weapon is too similar for the Machete for my liking, except it seems a bit more powerful. Its executions are the same for this weapon too – noisy executions so watch your back.

[ Axe ]

The slowest of the small weapons, but the most it’s the most powerful. Its quite a sick weapon, and accounts for some brutal attacks. Its great in hand to hand if I little on the noisy side.

[ Hammer ]

The Hammer is small and lightweight – but it certainly packs a punch, its very fast and very brutal – and it doesn’t make too much noise either. Experiment with the different attacks on offer.

[ Nightstick (AKA Blackjack) ]

The Nightstick bears resemblance to the blackjack – therefore it is load and slow. Good for hand to hand combat – and executions though.

[ NailGun]

You cannot execute with this weapon – buts it’s an extremely fast freeing gun that doesn’t make too much noise. Use the aim button and try to go for head shots. 3 head shots and they are down, it take longer for body shots though.

[ Light Hand Gun ]

It’s the weakest hand gun, but it doesn’t make too much noise – just try and go for head shots, but use only as a last resort. You can’t execute with this weapon.

[ Heavy Hand Gun]

This is a lot more powerful than the light counter part, but there’s a catch! It can only hold five shots per clip – which may prove a pain later on; make sure your fully loaded before shooting with your gun. You can’t execute with this weapon.

[ Six Shot Revolver ]
It’s a load but very powerful gun – just aim for the head and watch them fall down to the ground. You can’t execute with this weapon.

[ Uzi ]

Pretty Self explanatory, the Uzi (or Sub machine gun) will fire large bursts of bullets toward your enemies. Lovely. No executions available here.

4. Large Weapons

[ Baseball Bat ]

The first large weapon you will find in the game. This is more powerful than the blackjack – but it makes a lot of noise too. Executions are load, and so are hand to hand. Later on you will find a metal baseball bat – with is even more powerful than the wooden one – still as load though.

[ Sniper ]

The second large weapon you’ll find in the game – just take aim and fire. Try to shoot from afar – and zoom right on the heads. If you shoot right it should only use one shot. Its quite noisy, and you cant execute with them either.

[ Shotgun ]

This Shot gun packs a large punch, and can take down multiple enemies too. At close range with gun is a gem – but at long range you wont hit at all. It’s the loudest thing in the game – but it’s the most powerful! You cant execute with this weapon – but then again, who needs to?

[ Sarnoff Shotgun ]

Same as the one above, except it holds less ammo – but I think it’s a little more powerful. It only holds two rounds so be careful. You can’t execute with this either.

[ Tranquilizer Rifle ]

This is the most amusing weapon in the game! It’s quite and deadly. Shoot them in the head, and they will go to sleep – so you can then finish them with any of the above!

[ Chainsaw ]

The Last Weapon in the game, but the most fun – its very noisy, but it can be turned off and just used a blade – turn it on and get ready for a Blood bath!

That’s it for weapons, as you can see there’s plenty of choice! Head onto the next section to find out what levels you can find these weapons – and what time to finish the level in.

***Hints and Tips – Useful Information***

This section will give you 10 valuable tips, so please take note!

1. Firstly, don’t be afraid to pause the game – the timer will stop ticking if you need to pause and read this guide! Also handy if you need to have a needed break or a breather.

2. Always look around corners and in areas for painkillers, you always need them, so it’s handy to find them. Don’t use them if you have almost full heath though – wait until your desperate.

3. Sprinting is a key to shave minutes of your time. Just be careful where you sprint, because you will make a noise. Your stamina meter will go down when you run, if you empty it – then you will heavily breathe until its fully restored – this will give away your place if your not careful.

4. Always move in the shadows, there’s enough shadows about, so use them. If you get seen then you’ll have to either fight or run. You can run into a shadow so long as they haven’t seen you run there. If they have then they will still come after you. It’s all about tactics.

5. You’re going to have to patent with this game, always wait for the right time to pounce – if you try to rush then you’re going to get seen – and that will result in even more time off your clock. Take it nice and slow, but at the same time be swift. It’s all about timing!

6. If you are on Fetish mode use your Radar – tap on the wall to reveal the enemies. A Yellow triangle indicates an enemy that is unaware of you – and orange enemy either knows you’re about, or is suspicious, and a red enemy has seen you so run! Play about with the radar.

7. Be cautious and be aware – if you see an enemy enters your shadow it may be advised to back away, because there’s a good chance he may walk through your shadow. Be careful.

8. Know your enemies pattern, if they keep on walking backwards and forwards then careful watching should indicate where and when to pounce.

9. Do not push your luck! When you holding down attack for an execution – release it when you think its right – if your unsure that the enemy is going to turn around, then don’t take the risk – just let go.

10. Varity is the spice of this game, use different executions for the same weapons or different weapons if possible. Also use plenty of lures and traps to keep the audience entertained – its all about entertainment!

10 golden tips that will help you if you execute every one of them in every level. It’s very important that you use these tips to your advantage, they are here to help.

***Unlockables and Cheats***

Unfortuatly in this game you will have to unlock cheats, and its not easy at all. You cannot use the cheats until you’ve unlocked 2 picture cards on hardcore mode. You have to unlock 2 halves of pictures, and the pictures contain buttons of that to press to activate the cheat. When the cheat is activated you cannot unlock other cheats – afterall that would be cheating. So your going to have to practice if you want to have some nice cheats. Either that, or buy an action replay.

For every 5 things you unlock you will receive a bonus mini game level for your playing pleasure – there’s lot for you to unlock – your just going to have to try harder.
