The Byzantines.

First I want to say that this is going to be better than the
last one now I'm not so tired.
First you have to select what time period you want to play in,
this is simple.
All the teams get stronger except for you, So the early period
is the best to start.

From the start you have the ability to build Byzantine infantry, which is without doubt the best and really the only troops you have to train for the first 100 years, and of course a few urban militia to reinforce positions until your infantry can arrive.

About 3-5 units in each province bordering any other nation, maybe a few more depending on how hostile the boarders are.
You will want to reinforce the Turkish boarders, as from history they will want to attack early in the game depending if you make an alliance with them.
Don't make an alliance with them, The Egyptians will want to make an alliance with you, If you accept it from them and not the Turks then they will attack them by at least 30 years in the game.

So you want to be able to attack the Turks by 1130. We will now have to get construction done.
Firstly build a Fort, then Farmland +20, then start getting the buildings to make Byzantine infantry.
In Crete and Cyprus you should have started to make shipyards, we'll use them to transport troops to attack faraway places, like the Spanish.

You should be starting to make the buildings to make Byzantine infantry by the time the Turks are defeated. The annoying thing with the Turks is their Horse archers.
They are not really a threat, But an annoyance if you know how to sort them out.
Alan mercenary cavalry should be in each of your attacking armies.
They will act not as main attack troops, Like Byzantine infantry, Which 500 can defeat 3000 Eqyptions if you have a good general and know what your doing, so destroying any force which you encounter will be no problem as long as you know what your doing.

Anyway, The Alan mercenary cavalry will stay to the flanks of
your army.
When your troops engage the enemy, The Horse archers will predictably go to the back and stay out of trouble.
As your cavalry will be fast they can catch the Horse archers and drive them back. You will only need one unit to do this.
If you can, the other should attack the enemy at the rear. The Turks do not have very good moral when surrounded, so this should win the battle, Its better to surround the enemy and end it quickly in any battle.
Execute any prisoners that you have, they do not have a lot of land, and you will not want any more enemy troops to stop you.

Firstly you'll have to attack the Egyptians after this. Secondly you'll want your king to be dreaded for killing prisoners after battles, This will help you control the provinces you have just taken over.
When you have captured the Turkish lands you might want to consider keeping the alliance with the Egyptian's.
Their troops are not very good, but they seem to get them from everywhere, so they'll probably just wear you down.
You should probably take about 5 years to get the Turkish provinces
under control, You'll want to do this for every province you capture.
The best way to attack the Egyptians is to make sure you start from the top provinces first, don't let them have too many provinces next to yours.
Concentrate your forces to push them back rather than fight them, this may seem not so good but when they retreat into a Castle, if it's full then it won't last very long. I'm sure you can defeat them without any more help, so lets move on.

Now you've got to secure the eastern half of Europe, so it's time to go up north. You can bribe your way through most of the provinces. Only the Russian's stand in your way.
They have two provinces, the best way to defeat them is to use spearmen, and Alan mercenary cavalry.
You'll have quite a lot of land by now, bribe Sweden and Norway to get a foothold on that part of land. Build ships there, they will act as your ships in the north.
Don't wait too long as Byzantine infantry are good now, they
will become outdated in about 100 years.
The Danes will be easy to defeat as the'll probly only have one
province, but they will attack the Germans and if they do, they
will have more than one province.
But this will destract the Germans, what better time to attack them?
They will actully put up quite a fight, so have a lot of troops ready to wear them down.
When you can push forward and secure the lands form the
Germans. Remember to build improved farmland's in all the province's
you've captured, this will make rebellions less likely.
When you've captured the whole of North Africa, rebellions will become nonstop.

You cannot stop this, you can only hope to minimalise them. Now you don't want to be concerned about keeping lands under control, just keep building and executing prisoners, changing between releasing them and executing them, to keep things going as well as they can.

Remember to keep some troops in the places where you captured the Turkish lands, there will be a lot of comeback attempts. Overall, keep a lot of troops everywhere when you start capture the whole of Europe.
The rebellions should start when you get a choice to declare victory when you have captured over 60% of Europe, and you choose to keep going.
Train a lot of Byzantine infantry. Marry all of your princess' into your team. Keep building in every province.
Take advantage of any weak point, or if you think an enemy team is unstable attack them.

I have played medieval total war many times, I have accomplished great goals ( and once even conquered ALL Europe ! )
I have learnt a thing or two in these great battles for Europe:

When starting the game, don’t chose a huge nation as the bigger the nation, the more problems it will cause at first. Chose a medium sized nation such as Britain, Poland, Spain or my favourite.. Italy.

A good advice would be, at the first stages of the game you shouldn't think about taking over Europe yet. Try making peace with other nations, get your princesses to marry with other princess to form a solid good Ally. At first start working on you ' Farm Land ' and by building more crops, and improving it on your entire nation. That should keep a solid good income, to support army costs further on. Then by starting to build shops to improve your units, start building them across your nation. Try to build as many as you can, as these will unlock new units and give you that BIG step in military Technology. By building places like these, you should start to see new units being available to buy. And by that time, you would have found your true Ally's and you should start thinking about an enemy, usually a small country that wouldn't take ages to take over.

Then after selecting so, but remember to Not start the war yet; Start building units such as cavalry and heavy armoured foot soldiers. Note* Archers and other units with Only a bow & an arrow to fight with; are Extremely Weak, and have a weak attack. They take ages to reload, there’s a small chance of actually hitting a target with one shot, and they only have a limited amount of ammunition. That’s why archers and cross bows, don’t play a big role in a battle, although I must admit sometimes they are a good back-up soldiers and they are extremely vulnerable on their own.
When first starting to build your troops, don’t go looking for those expensive ones, and when buying units, keep and eye on their support cost as that’s the amount that each group of units will take from your budget a year. When you think you have enough, gather them all together in big groups. When your numbers reach about 500 good, proper armoured soldiers, then you stand a good chance in winning a battle. Bring all your troops right between your border, and your enemy's border. Then declare war with them, and move your troops in, not just all at one bit, but on 2-3 pieces of their land. Then ' Let The Battle Commence ' you can either take control of your troops, or select the CPU to do a quick battle for you. If commanding a battle on your own you must now what your enemies fighting with, and you must know how to use your squad effectively. But by selecting the CPU to the battle automatically, is the best way to do it. As it is Fast, the result of the battle is given to you straight away, and CPU makes the best out of your units. After the battle, which you hopefully won, you will be given an amount of money that were taken from the enemy nation taken over, or Vice Versa, if you lost the battle you would have to pay an demanding amount of money to you enemy for them to release some of your captured units.

After winning the battle, select the nation and right clicking on it, you will be shown a window that tells you how much money ( Tax ) you are receiving from the selected piece of land. When you first take over, select it to ' LOW '. That would give you less money from the selected land, but the chance of civil unrest will increase by a lot. If you don’t turn it to low, but instead turn it to High, you might receive a bit more money from that land, but Civil unrest will happen and civilians will pick up their swords and spears to go against you. The only way to settle civil unrest is by attacking them and killing them ALL, which will result in some casualties in your troops. You should select and leaving it on low for first 5-6 years/ turns. Then after that, you can turn it to high, then due to people becoming used to your empire a civil unrest wont happen.

Once started a battle with a nation, first destroy ALL that nation before starting a war with other nations. If a war goes out of hand, and you under estimate and opponent, you should send an ambassador to their king and ask for peace. Or you can tell you ambassadors to bribe enemy troops at the campaign map. Bribing, usually results in paying a HUGE amount of money to bribe a squad ( I once ended up paying over 9,000 florins to bribe a huge army, which resulted in capturing 7 of the enemies countries ) . Bribing should be your last result, as it’s a Rip-Off. Another way to killing enemy generals, an easier way is by sending an assassin to murder them. If your chosen target is less important, the chances of success are high, the high ranked the person is, the lower the chances of success. But by killing enemy generals, their troops will get scared, and get weaker during battles.

That’s all you need to know to start whipping all the weaker enemies, and when your tough enough start taking on the germens, French and some other countries which are massive and powerful through out the game. And by following and deploying the tactics above, you should conquer Europe after a while.

Note* as you might have noticed, I haven’t mentioned anything about naval battles, because they are pointless really.

Note* All hand gunners which will be available in further years, are same as archers, but the statement that I said about archers and cross bow men doe's not apply for gunpowder units, as they are powerful and accurate. But the soldiers still have a poor defence and need armour support.

Note* Cannons and any object launching objects are powerful against forts and castles to brake through, but using them against infantry is pointless really, as they take about 1 min to reload, and aren’t really accurate from great ranges. 1 Min is a lot, they should only be used for blasting your way through castle walls. They are extremely slow moving, have a good range and good accuracy against big objects, but are completely Defenceless.

Note* Cavalry are fast moving and great for any types of battle, horse archers and horseback gunpowder units are much stronger than foot archers/gunpowder units, as they are much faster for running away, but still aren’t much power fuller, although they are much accurate.

Note* Don’t declare war against many nations at once, because that’s what forces you to face defeat.
