Retro Game Walkthroughs for Burnout 2: Point of Impact (PlayStation 2)
Submitted By: Slaveunit
Hi all, and welcome to another Slave walkthrough.

This walkthrough for the superb Burnout 2 is a guide to unlocking everything in the game. All the cars, all the tracks and all the bonus features are included. The walkthrough was written by me, from playing the game to completion, not from nabbing it off the net.

Cars:

The cars are listed as vehicle type in the game rather than vehicle make and model as it gives the game the freedom to trash the cars without licencing issues as with Gran Turismo 3.

Initially available cars are:

Compact
SUV
Coupe
Pickup
Sport
Roadster (the best car here IMO)
Muscle

Secret cars, and how to get them:

Driver's Ed - 100% Gold Medals in Offensive Driving 101 (get this before going into the main game and it makes the entire first championship really easy!)

Cop Car - Win Pursuit 1
Classic - Win Pursuit 2
Gangster - Win Pursuit 3
Custom SUV - Win Pursuit 4

Hot Rod - Win Face-off 1
Oval Racer - Win Face-off 2
Japanese Muscle - Win Face-off 3
Supercar - Win Face-off 4

Custom Compact - Win the Custom Series Qualifier
Custom Coupe - Win the Split Second Grand Prix
Custom Sport - Win Speed Streak Grand Prix

Tracks:

The biggest improvements over the last game is it's expansion of the first Burnout, and this is shown in the vast quantity of tracks available. Here's how to get them all.

Airport Terminal 1 and 2 - Win The Run to the Sun Grand Prix
Big Surf Shores - Win Street Storm Grand Prix
Crystal Freeway - Win The Roller Coaster Grand Prix
Crystal Summit Lake - 100% Gold Medals in The Roller Coaster
Grand Prix
Freeway Dash - Win Roller Coaster Grand Prix
Freeway Dash (reversed) - Win The Crystal Freeway
Heartbreak Hills - Win Winding Road Grand Prix
Heartbreak Hills (reversed) - Win The Miracle Mile Grand Prix
Interstate Loop - Win Pacific Gate Grand Prix
Ocean Sprint - Win Pacific Gate Grand Prix
Ocean Sprint (reversed) - Win Winding Road Grand Prix
Palm Bay Marina - Win The Run to the Sun Grand Prix
Sunrise Valley Downtown - Win The Run to the Sun Grand Prix

Other stuff to unlock:

Credits Video - Win Custom Series Qualifier
Custom Series - Win Custom Series Qualifier Championship
Pursuit Mode - Win all three Pursuits in Championship Mode
Crash mode tracks - complete 3 stages with a medal to unlock the
next 3

And there you have it, everything you can see on Burnout 2. Hope this is of use to you all.

Cheers
Slave.

If you have trouble driving, or cant chose the right car; this is for YOU

/////////////
CARS///
////////////

Burnout 2 features many cars; each has its own unique powers.
If you are a speed fan, and can control your car with high speed. Than the costume roadster is for you, that’s the fastest car in the game; thou not the easiest to handle. Speed is good, only when it can be controlled. The car that is used most by burn out 2 players is the Super Car. It’s not the fastest, maybe not the best looking. But this car has its control and acceleration bar almost full. It is very easy to drive one of these; these are very good at champion ship. As you can speed whilst avoiding the other cars. These two cars are the main ones. Although there are many other cars, but non are good as these two.

///////////////////////////////////
CHAMPION SHIP///////
//////////////////////////////////

This is how you unlock cars, modes and tracks. By racing CPU cars and winning the tournament. The key to this is, keeping your eye on the road. When you’re going on ‘Boost’ you will be the fastest car, but you have to be able to control your self. As one crash, can make you fall behind. And it’s not very easy to get back to 1st when you are way back. One tip in champion ship: Every tournament has several different stages, notice that if you win, lets say 4 out of 5; and lose on the last one, you will lose the tournament and have to start all over again. But if you are about to lose, restart you xbox console. It sounds daft, but it really works. By doing so, you will prevent the game from saving. So you can carry on from where you were, not from the beginning.

//////////////////////
CRASH//////////
/////////////////////

Crash is great fun, especially when played multiplayer. The basic objective is, to cause as much damage as you can. The cars that are best for this are the ones with fast speed usually. As you don’t really need control, costume roadster is the best in my opinion. As it is the fastest car, it can hit with most power. This make your car going flying into air (depending what you hit), when your car comes crashing down, it’s likely to hit something. Or another car hitting you.

////////////////////////
TURBO///////////
///////////////////////

This is the way to reach incredible speeds. Basically by driving carelessly, on wrong side or drifts, or near missies. Boost allows your car to go much faster for a short time. This almost doubles your speed depending on what car you’re driving. But make the best of it, and since your going at double the speed, you have to be extra care full. As going fast increases your chances of crashing.

////////////////////////////////////////
HOW TO GET TURBO////
///////////////////////////////////////

You can get turbo by many different ways; I am going to go through them all.

Drifts: When you come to a corner, or a tight edge, by holding brake and turning; you will earn boost points. This also looks really good in the replay. Be careful thou, because as your drifting, you cant really control your car. There are high chances of colliding with other cars is busy roads.

Near Misses: Drive close to other cars without touching them with speed. This is very hard, as any second everything could go very wrong. But by doing a near miss, you will gain quit a lot of boost. Although this is not the best way, especially if the cars are coming towards you. But sometimes, it’s worth the risk.

Oncoming: This is pretty simple, just drive on the wrong side of the road. This is the easiest, safest way to earn boost. Well, sometimes the safest. You will earn huge amount of boost just by driving on the wrong side.

Get Air: You can get air by jumping off bumps. This is not really worth it, as you don’t get much boost, and there aren’t many bumps in the game. But, it is used a lot is some circuits. Be careful, as whilst you’re flying you can’t control your car. And if the road is busy, there are high chances that you would crash to other cars.

//////////////////////////////////////////////
STARTING THE RACE/////////
////////////////////////////////////////////

This is a tip; it gives you an edge at beginning of the game. As the countdown timer starts, hold (R) when the timer reaches ‘1’ let go the (R) key and hold brakes (L). When it says ‘GO’ release (L) and hold (R) again. This is confusing, but if you do it correctly, you will get boost right at the beginning of the game.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////
COMLETING THE GAME////////
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
You complete the game by wining the champion ship. As you complete the first champion ship, you will unlock many cool cars such as the super car and more. Once all of the champion ship is completed, you will unlock another champion ship mode. Called the ‘Costume Champion Ship’ this is the one were you can unlock the bests cars and tracks. And it’s also the hardest. In the costume champion ship, you unlock costumer cars, such as the Costumer roadster.

And once you have completed both champion ship modes, you have unlocked everything there is to unlock. There is another mode, called crash. Were you must cause the most damage. You don’t really unlock anything there, except other crash levels. Crash mode is really a good fun.
