1. Keeping your Sims keen.

Your Sims need to be kept keen, below are a few pointers to keep your Sims happy, and to make your gaming experience a whole lot better!

1) Giving your house a make over every now and again will please your Sims a lot. Pause the game, and buy your Sims essential furniture, such as new chairs, televisions, radio sets. Everybody likes luxuries, and so do your Sims.

2) You should get your Sim a job as soon as possible. Getting your Sims out is one of the most important things. If your Sims lazes around 24 hours a day, your Sim will never want to work. Get on the Sim-internet, or read the newspaper, and get a job!

3) If you have a family of Sims you should keep your Sims as friendly as possible. Make sure they all sit down for dinner, and socialize. Keep them talking, or you’ll have a big job on your hands when your Sims fall out. This rule applies to the smallest of families and the biggest ones too.

4) Get your Sims studying Skills. These skills will come in handy in everyday life, and will allow you to advance careers faster. (See chapter 2 in this guide for more details)

5) Getting your Sims up in a morning is very important. Especially if they are working, or learning at school. Buy your Sims Alarm clocks and wake make sure they are up 2 hours before they are working. That way your Sim can eat, shower and leave to work in a good mood. This will allow a career advance a lot quicker, and your Sims will be a lot easier to deal with if you get them into a daily routine.

6) If all your family is at work, then it is advised you get a maid in daily. She will clean up, wash up, take out the trash, and basically do everything that yours Sims wouldn’t want to do after a hard days graft. At only $10 an hour she’s a steel! If one of yours Sims doesn’t work, get that Sim doing house work.

7) Try not to have too many days off work, if you’re working. Two days off in a row and you’ve lost your job. However I have found out you can miss every over day, and you won’t get the sack. If your Sims is too tired let him have a day off if you can afford it. Make sure your Sim is up and ready for the next day tough, or you’ve lost your job – which isn’t good news if you’ve got a well paid job.

8) When you’ve got a empty house you might as well buy new furniture, and build extensions on your house if money allows. When your Sim comes home from work to find a new bedroom, it will cheer the Sim up a lot.

9) Save your game on a regular basis. If two Sims fall out, and you didn’t want that to happen you can always reload and try again.

10) Finally, invite friend around for little parties, and make friends on a regular basis, and try to keep them as friends! The social aspect is what’s its all about- if you have plenty of Friends, you should have a better gaming experience all together.

2. Skills your Sim can learn!

Skills are very important on the Sims. As you learn more skills, new doors will open. And better paid jobs will arise. Below are a list of skills, what they do, how to use them to their full potential and how to earn this skill.

Charisma:
This is a very import skill if you want to socialise. The more charisma you have the more friends you can get. You’ll be able to persuade other Sims, and have a big influence over all the other Sims on the street. Charisma can help jobs such as a Acting career. Getting charisma is easy, just buy a cheap mirror and talk to yourself!

Cooking:
A skill that will always come in handy is the cooking skill. The more cooking points you have the more filling you meals will be, and you’re less likely to burn the Yorkshire puddings, and set the whole house on fire! The easiest way to learn looking is by book. Just buy a bookshelf, and click on study cooking. Of course if you have some expansion packs you can use the bread maker, make bread – and learn cooking. Genius!

Mechanical:
If something breaks down in your house what do you do? You can call the mechanic and pay over the odd prices, you can sell the broken item, and take a ridicules sly low price for it, or you can fix it yourself. The mechanical skill does just that. It will allow you to repair items in the house fast and efficiently. Either buys a bookshelf and learns by book, or you can learn by repairing items yourself. Don’t wait around for something to break, your best off learning by book. This skill will come in handy when at work too. Science career, military career, and medical career need the mechanical skill the most.

Logic:
Fancy a game of chess? Logic is a handy skill; it will allow your Sim to see the logic in tidying up, and making the bed. Logic also works well with the mechanical skill above. This skill can be handy in games of chess too! To learn this skill, play chess, play cards, or you can look through a telescope at the stars. Medical careers need this skill a lot, as well as science.

Body:
The more body skills you have, the stronger you will become. And your sex appeal goes up with it. The stronger you are, the less likely you are to become ill too. It’s a handy skill around the home, and a very important skill at work, as nearly ever job needs a bit of strength! Using the bull worker, or weights gains you body points. Swimming in your backyard pool also gains you a few muscles too.

Creativity:
In my eyes, it’s the best skill going! You can impress a lot of people with this skill. If you have a lot of points of creativity you’ll be able to play the guitar and piano like a pro. That will impress the female Sims a lot! Creativity will allow you to paint like an artist too, so you can sell your paintings for top dollar! Every job needs Creativity, so it’s very very handy. To get creativity play the piano, guitar, or paint. Painting is the best one, because you can sell your effort.

3. Your Sims needs

Your Sims has needs, needs that need to be seen to if you want to advance. Below is a guide to the needs your Sims have, and how to see to them.

Room:
This is probably the hardest need to meet. Make sure your rooms are not too small, and not to big. Decororate your room with unusual items, like statues - if you can afford it. If you can’t, buy rugs, and paintings to decorate your room. Make sure your bedroom, living-room and kitchen are roomy rooms.

Bladder:
Going to the toilet regularly will satisfy this need. Make sure you go at least 3 times a day, or you might wet your bed -which has been known to send your Sim into a depression. Wetting your bed will lower most of your needs, so its best to keep your Sim with a empty bladder! This brings me to the next need….

Hygiene:
This is how clean your Sim is. Washing your hands after the toilet, and washing your hands before and after meals will help. Obviously getting a shower every day will satisfy your Sims hygiene.

Energy:
How much steam your Sim has got, before it runs out of power! Basically you need to do everything you can before your energy bar runs down. When your energy reaches zero, your Sim will fall and sleep on the floor, you you’ll have to wait 12 hours before your Sim wakes up! Its important that you sleep fully everyday, giving you a full energy bar at the start of the day. Use a bed to sleep, or if you need a quick nap – use the sofa. A quick coffee also boosts your energy back up, but coffee will add to the bladder.

Fun:
Fun is something we all know and love. The Sims need a bit of fun too. Sit down, and watch television, dance to the radio, read a book all these will give you fun. You can normally kill tow birds with one stone with fun. Fun and comfort would be watching TV on a nice sofa. Fun, comfort and Hygiene would be in a Hot tub! Speaking of comfort…

Comfort:
Your Sim isn’t comfy when he is standing up! So make sure you buy nice sofas, nice chairs, nice comfy baths, and even comfy toilets! Your Sim will feel more relaxed after a nice bath.

Hunger:
This need is plain and simple. When your hungry, you need to eat. So either cook something, grab a bag of crisps, order a pizza, and depending on what expansion pack you own- go out for a meal. The more cooking skills you have the more filling the meal will be. So you’ll only need one burger instead of two! If you are cooking at home, have plenty of Cooking skills, a nice big kitchen, a blender, and a oven (and a smoke alarm!) The better cooking equipment you have the better the meal will fill.

And finally….

Social:
Get your Sim out and talking to neighbours. If this social gauge is low, then your Sim will be very depressed. Make a lot of friends, and go out with them. If your Sim isn’t married, or is living alone then you must get a room mate, or a husband/wife.
If you’re Sim needs a few social points, buy a Phone, and talk to a friend over the phone.

4. Tips and Tricks!

Here you will find a few tricks of the trade, very handy in some situations.

1) Are you going to be late for work? No problem, when the carpool arrives to pick you up, pause the game and pick up a chair….
A chair? Yes, pick up a chair (or anything for that matter) and put it in front of the car. The car won’t be able to drive off, and you will have all the time you need to get to work!

2) When you get a baby, make sure you sleep next to it on the sofa. When your baby cries at 2:00am you can jump straight off the sofa, and feed it. If you don’t attend to your baby straight away, you’ll get it taken off you. 5 days, and your baby will be a kid, then it can take care of itself.

3) Wouldn’t you like to make your Sim dance to your music? All you have to do is find a few MP3’s off your music CD’s and then put your mp3s in the Maxis/TheSims/Music/Stations/country file for example. You can put your MP3’s in the most suited station. If its dance music, put it in the dance folder!

4) Getting married might be something you shouldn’t of done. If you’ve found out that you don’t like marriage after call you can get divorced with these easy steps. 1st of all, don’t talk to your partner, after a few days, insult your partner. After enough insulting, a menu will pop up asking to if you want a divorce! Click yes.

5) If you want a party, buy some party balloons. Loads of people will be around before you can say the Sims deluxe edition. If that doesn’t work, buy yourself a birthday cake. All the neighbours will come around, then you can talk to your hearts content.
