| Controls (01000) |
O============================================================================O

Devil May Cry 3 is a game that relies heavily on good control and being able
to perform complex maneouvres quickly. Getting used to the controls is a must
in this game, in fact you may find the game's difficulty gets easier as you
progress, not because it actually is but because you are more experienced with
the controls. The following are the basics of playing this game.

Analog Stick - The analog stick moves you around, quite simple, you can run,
walk or change direction using this little knob.

D-Pad - The D-pad cycles you through menus bu in combat pressing the different
directions on the D-Pad will automatically take you to different menus.

Start - Pauses the game while you play, from there you can select options.

Select - Pressing the select button in battle will allow you to taunt.

Triangle - Triangle is the basic attack button which controls your sword or
whatever other weapon you may have equipped. Pressing it on the ground
swings, pressing it in the air slashes down. It can also be used to interact
with objects like poles you find in various locations.

Square - Square is the basic gun button, pressing will fire whatever gun you
have equipped in the direction you are facing, also applies while in air.

Circle - The function of the circle button depends largely on what style you
are currently using, depending on the style the circle button will act as
anything from an additional attack button to a dodge button.

X - X is the jump button, the double jump button (with Air Hike learned) and
the roll button while holding R1 to lock on to an enemy.

R1 - Use this button to lock on to an enemy and stay locked on while you fire
your guns or aim sword attacks in that direction.

L1 - This button cycles you between normal mode and Devil Trigger mode but has
no use until you actually get the ability to transform in the game.

L2/R2 - These are used to cycle between your two guns and your two swords
respectively, you can change equipment between mission or at a statue.

DANTE - A demon hunter born of the union between the legendary dark knight
Sparda and his human bride, he uses his keepsake sword and dual handguns to
crush his enemies... After having some fun with them.

VERGIL - He is Dante's twin brother. Ever-so-skillfully wielding the Yamato
sword, a keepsake from his father, his sword speed is said to be so fast that
it appears invisible to the naked eye.

LADY - While being a human female and therefore born of weak flesh and blood,
she has made devil-hunting her life's work. She hates all demons and wants to
destroy them all.

ARKHAM - A mystery man who accompanies Vergil. He seems to have a profound
knowledge of the magic arts and Demon World. His motives are unknown.

JESTER - A mysterious inhabitant of the tower. While seeming to offer advice
to Dante on one hand, he also takes steps to prevent the devil hunter from
reaching his goal.

SPARDA - The legendary dark knight who defeated the Devil-king some 2000 years
ago. When sealing the netherworld, sensing his power had grown too strong, he
intentionally seals himself in as well.

LEVIATHAN - A biological weapon of sorts created by the Devil-king. It, like
the tower, was sealed away by Sparda but freed by someone as of late. Its
body is a gateway to the hell of jealousy.

THE TEMEN-NI-GRU - A holy tower constructed by disciples of the demon clan.
Originally sealed by Sparda deep underground, Arkham and Vergil have
rematerialized it in the present day.

| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 1 - A Crazy Party |
|_/ (00001) ------------------------------------------------------o

At the start of the game the customize option is available, using this you can
purchase items, upgrade weapons and get new abilities using special currency
you get in the form of Red Orbs which are dropped by enemies and given as
rewards after completing missions. You can check everything available for
purchase at this point but you don't have any Red Orbs at the start.

This mission simply takes place in a single room with you being attacked by
mountains of enemies. Assuming you're using the default control scheme you
can swing your sword with triangle, dodge with circle, jump with X and fire
your handguns by pressing square while holding R1. R1 is the targeting mode,
while holding it you will remain focused on a single enemy until you let go of
the button, it dies or you switch targets with L3. Start swinging and
shooting your way through here, a great tactic is to hold R1 and press the
sword swing and direction away from where Dante is facing at the same time to
do an uppercut swing. After that start blasting with your handguns to juggle
enemy enemy in the air. After a couple dozen of them it's mission complete.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 2 - The Blood Link |
|_/ (00002) ------------------------------------------------------o

Depending on how well you obliterated the enemies in the first mission you may
have enough Red Orbs to upgrade your character. I recommend getting the
Stinger attack, it's under the action category. Not only is it a very helpful
lunge attack you can use by attacking in the direction you're facing, but it's
also probably the only thing you can afford at this point.

Now this is yet another mission where you simply have to defeat all the
enemies in a single area. The first thing you should do is pick up the 'Vital
Star S' which is the shining object on the ground beside the steps where you
start. Now use a combination of your new Stinger attack and all other moves
in your arsenal to take down these enemies. After you've defeated a certain
amount, a new type of enemy will appear. This enemy carries a huge disgusting
blob on its back, stand far away and defeat it using your Handguns because it
explodes when it dies. Now another one appears with a whole pile of other
enemies, blast it from a distance to wipe out numerous enemies at once and
then clean up the remainders, this triggers the appearance of the boss.

The boss is quite difficult until you get the hang of it, but there's a fairly
simple trick to beating it without even being hit. The trick is using the
dodge button obviously, but it's also in learning his three types of
teleports. We'll go from least to most dangerous. The least dangerous is
when he teleports right beside you, he appears and spins his giant scythe but
the range on this spin attack is almost nothing, using the analog stick and
running will easily dodge it. In the middle is the teleport where he appears
in the ground and it ripples, he will pop out spinning his scythe with an
attack of greater range, in this case use the dodge button and dash away from
the ripple. The most dangerous one is when he teleports a few metres away
from you, this means he is going to do a fast slash attack in your direction.
Do not try to dodge the instant you see his target icon appear, you must wait
until he himself actually appears and then dodge either left or right
immediately, if you dodge too early he will attack in the direction of
wherever you stop. To defeat this enemy the safest way is to just use
handguns from a distance, it isn't quick but if you're good at dodging the
attacks you won't even be hit. In fact it's also fairly safe to use Stinger
for a good amount of damage right as he is teleporting away. Obviously the
more dangerous method is to go in close with your sword, while faster this
method will likely get you killed. Do it at your own risk.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 3 - The Devil's Tower |
|_/ (00003) ------------------------------------------------------o

When this mission begins watch out for the two enemies on the rooftop firing
projectiles down at you. Ignore the enemies on the ground for now because you
have to take those things out. Run up to the overhang where the left one is
standing and try to jump up, while you can't make it all the way up on the
first jump, if you press the jump button again as you reach the overhand you
can kick off and make it up there, knock both of them down and proceed to
battle your way through the rest of the enemies. Keep in mind that the
barrels in the corners can be targeted and will explode when shot.

When the enemies are taken care of, enter through the door of the club. A
barrier prevents you from going any further, but ignore that for the moment.
Collect all the Red Orbs in this room by smashing absolutely everything from
bar stools to wine bottles. You'll notice that when you go to smash the dart
boards beside the jukebox an odd panel on the wall is revealed. Use your
sword swinging abilities to activate all the nodes on this panel and remove
the barrier. Before going through the door be sure to pick up the Shotgun off
the wall, changing guns is done quickly with the L2 button.

Check out the scenery in the next room, you can interact with the pole using
the triangle button, keep this in mind. Smash all the furniture in this room
for the Red Orbs and then approach the door for a quick scene and another
battle. These dangerous enemies can teleport around and attack but if you try
to remain in the air as much as possible using your Handguns and new Shotgun
as well as the beloved Stinger attack, they will fall. Now you can access the
door which was previously blocked with the big blood streak leading to it.

Outside use your wall kick on the right wall to grab the Red Orbs and also the
Blue Orb Fragment up on the ledge. Collect four of these and your max health
will increase. You'll notice there is a door below the Blue Orb Fragment,
examine it with the circle button to enter Secret Mission 1.

They certainly don't make it easy for you at the beginning, playing on the
normal difficulty it took me eight tries before I was finally able to devise a
working strategy for this, basically here it is. First of all keep in mind
that Stinger is a weak attack and should really only be used to move you close
to the enemy quickly, secondly the jump and downward slash attack is very
powerful and combined with Ebony & Ivory (preferably upgraded) shooting and
downward jump slashing the first enemies that appear will kill them extremely
quickly. Where you're going to lose most of your time is fighting the two
scythe wielding teleporters, after trying many different strategies I finally
realized that by far the fastest way to kill these things is just the four
swing sword combo used over and over and over again, keep slashing while
they're on the ground and they won't be able to teleport. This way you should
be able to beat the time and get the Blue Orb Fragment as a reward.

Jump up onto the left side and break the statue to find another Blue Orb
Fragment. Further up the path is a statue which can be used mid-mission to
upgrade your equipment and such. Now continue up the path to the next area.

o- Boss (Cerberus) ----------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| A very difficult boss fight awaits you here, there are quite a few ways |
| to approach this battle, I'll outline the one that worked for me. First |
| of all what didn't work for me was an aggressive attack right up to the |
| boss. Doing this means you can't predict any of his attacks since you're |
| so close and you just have to hope nothing hits you. The one advantage |
| of this approach is that if you're attacking his feet it is possible to |
| knock him down for a moment and allow you do do extreme damage to his |
| head with melee attacks. Before you do any of this however you have to |
| use one of your guns to chip off the ice. Now here's what did work for me |
| after about five or six tries, I fought almost the entire battle from the |
| back using the Handguns which were fully upgraded of course. While this |
| is slow it allows you tons of prediction time and dodging chance for his |
| attacks. Having Air Hike is also recommended because it's the easiest |
| way to dodge every single attack he has. Sometimes when he bounds forward |
| to the front that gives you a great opportunity to run up and do a jump |
| slash to his head, but play it safe and use some items if you have to. |
| |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

For defeating the boss you get the nunchuku like weapon called the Cerberus.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 4 - The Uninvited One |
|_/ (00004) ------------------------------------------------------o

Begin the level and start making your way up the stairs. Part way along on
the right side of the second level path you'll come to a blue door, go inside.
Defeat the enemies and continue to the next room, here you will be forced to
fight your way through in order to unlock the door. Once you have taken care
of all the enemies go through the door at the top. You can break all the
statues in this room, they hide some extra Red Orbs. Smash the panel on the
wall and ride the elevator up to the next level, of course into a fight.

There's some new enemies here, they have a projectile attack but other than
that it's nothing to worry about. After they're killed use either Air Hike or
the walls kick to jump up onto the pipes near the door. From here you can
jump up and reach a Blue Org Fragment, this should be your fourth one and
represent a larger health bar. Now head through the green door. Continue to
climb up the curving ramp and go into the yellow door you pass by. Start
going up the thin set of stairs and all of a sudden you'll be dropped down
into the area below. Simply kill all the enemies and use the teleporter to
get out of here. Now enter the large red door.

There's a miniboss here if you can even call it a miniboss, it's quite
enormous however it's not too difficult and its extremely fun to fight.
Here's how to do it. When the boss appears out of one of the tunnels jump
down onto its back. Now using your new Cerberus start to spin and swing it
around, you'll hit the boss quite a few times just doing so standing on its
back. Soon you will see an electric charge move through its body, this is
your cue to hit R2 and switch to the Rebellion, jump and then Air Hike for a
double jump, the boss spins to try and get you off its back but a double jump
will allow you to stay above it and land again after it finishes spinning.
Switch back to the Cerberus and repeat the process over and over. THe boss
has an attack where it shoot blue lasers under it, since you shouldn't be
spending any time under the boss this isn't too dangerous. The only dangerous
attack the boss has are the purple orbs it sometimes uses, but as long as
you're willing to do defensive for a second they are easy to avoid.

Head through the red door on ground level. Check the wall on the right and
grab the Astronomical Board. This triggers a cutscene.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 5 - Of Devils and Swords |
|_/ (00005) ------------------------------------------------------o

When the level begins you have to fight a number of new enemies which are
quite simple, just blast them with your Handguns until they solidify and then
smash them with either the Rebellion or Cerberus. Head through the door on
the upper level and go back to the central room. Make your way to the top and
use the Astronomical Board on the pedestal. Jump down and get the shining
object you just revealed, the Vajura. That panel in the centre of the room is
just a super trampoline to use as a quick way of getting to the top. Enter
the blue door now. Make your way back to the elevator room, there is a red
crystal here, smack it with your sword as fast as possible to net yourself
quite a few orbs, now return to the previous room. Head up to the back
section of the second level anduse the Vajra on the crank. The cage has been
lifted and you can now go up to get the Soul of Steel.

Return to the central room again and head up to the yellow door. Fall off the
edge of the cliff on purpose, go on, try as hard as you can. When you realize
this has now become impossible run up the invisible path to the top part and
whipe out your Cerberus. Smash the statue by using this weapon like crazy and
get the Blue Orb Fragment from inside. Now examine the centre wall to use the
Soul of Steel. Head through the door. In the next area there's an elevator,
a panel to strike and a red skull on the wall. Before doing anything with the
panel, first examine the red skull on the wall to activate Secret Mission 2.

Your goal is to defeat all the enemies without taking any damage, obviously
this isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world. Especially since these
enemies have some nasty projectiles. Fortunately however when you get hit
that means the end instantly, you don't have to humour them and finish the
fight, it also means that you're not likely going to actually end up getting
killed and have to restart the entire mission. The best way I find to do it
obviously is to be extremely aggressive, start off with a Stinger toward the
nearest enemy then slash him to death, this should give you just enough time
to dodge the oncoming projectiles. Land and Stinger into the next enemy
destroying it before you're attacked again, or perhaps quickly stunning it
giving you enough time to Stinger the next nearest enemy. Just don't get in
the habit of ALMOST killing them then moving onto the next one, the difference
between one being alive and dead is four more icy death spikes in your face.

Once you've grabbed the Blue Orb Fragment and you're back again, use the panel
on the wall to activate the elevator and jump on. You'll be ambushed by a
number of enemies from above, while the Shotgun works well here I find the
easiest way to knock a whole ground of enemies over the edge is to simply jump
and do the downward slash. Leave this area and follow the outer walkway until
you come to a door. Smash everything around to get some Red Orbs and upgrade
whatever skills or equipment you feel is necessary. In the next room watch
the cutscene and prepare yourself for a boss battle afterward.

o- Boss (Agni & Rudra) ------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| Prepare yourself for a difficult fight, more difficult even than the fight |
| against Cerberus. You'll likely want to buy yourself a couple of Yellow |
| Orbs because starting over from the beginning of the level every time kind |
| of sucks. There are numerous strategies to use on this boss, I'll outline |
| most of them and you can choose the one which works best for you. Choose |
| whichever melee weapon you prefer, both Rebellion and Cerberus are good |
| for this battle. Now here's how you're going to hurt them, and how I won |
| the fight. Much of the damage won't actually be done by you, but rather |
| from them. Their attacks are just as capable of hitting each other as |
| they are of hitting you. What I did was equip the Rebellion which had Air |
| Hike and spend much of the battle high in the air shooting downward with |
| Ebony & Ivory. As I fell since I was always above them, I would hit the |
| triangle button to drop down with a powerful sword swing that dealt quite |
| a lot of damage. Much of the time in the air was characterized by them |
| hitting each other on the ground. Now there's some danger to this too, |
| make sure to bring at least one healing item just in case, though this |
| holds true for all fights. The one primary attack that will put you in |
| danger is their spinning upward slash jump. The only way to avoid this |
| is to keep a close eye and them, when they look like they're charging for |
| something and their sword changes colour jump away from them rather than |
| above them. Also you'll want to know how to dodge the charge attack. |
| Sometimes the bosses will run to the other end of the room and run toward |
| you one at a time, when they get close they jump into the air and slash |
| downward. To easily avoid this attack wait until the first one approaches |
| you. The instant he leaps into the air turn around and jump in the other |
| direction, then Air Hike to avoid the other. Now you can continue. Do |
| your best to strike them in the middle of an attack if you can, obviously |
| not so that it would put you in danger though. Striking the boss at the |
| exact right time in the middle of an attack will knock the sword out of |
| their hand, this gives you a good ten seconds to deal insane amounts of |
| of damage while then crouch motionless on the floor. Good luck with this. |
| |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

To end the mission simply head through the large gray door. Remember that is
you want to change your equipment, you must do it at one of the statues.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 6 - Family Ties |
|_/ (00006) ------------------------------------------------------o

Head down the first path and through the door until you come to three
branching paths. Here you must pass three trials in order to continue with
the game. Now start with the one on the right, it's the most difficult and
therefore if you die you can start over without too much trouble. As you run
toward the shining object suddenly some walls pop up and enemies attack. They
are protected by a special shield, in order to remove the shield you have to
light up the two emblems on either side of the room by striking them with your
sword. Once all the enemies are defeated you are free to pick up the Essence
of Fighting and return to the previous room. Now go into the middle trial.
Here you will have to dodge spikes which pierce out of the wall as you are
running, a few things to keep in mind here. Always run down the centre of the
path so that you can quickly move left and right for the side wall spikes, do
absolutely nothing for the roof spikes and do a SINGLE jump, not an Air Hike
over the ground spikes. At the end you'll find an Essence of Technique and
have to fight your way back to the door. In the final trial you must choose
between four doors when going into a room, this is quite easy. Remember from
DANTE'S PERSPECTIVE what you do is take the right door, left door and then
middle door and then right door to reach the Essence of Intelligence.

Back to the beginning of the level once again examine the large device in the
centre. Place two of the Essence items in to unblock the door, place a third
one to get the Artemis Gun, a sort of energy pulse cannon similar to the
Nightmare from the original Devil May Cry. Head through the door and check
the statue on the left. Equip Agni & Rudra and smash the thing into bits. It
takes an insane amount of hits and if you aren't fast enough it regenerates.
The way I was able to do it was using the melee fighting style, jumping into
the air and using the circle attack to slash it as I fell and then land with
that fire strike. Took awhile but eventually dropped the Blue Orb Fragment.
Hop up to get the Red Orbs and continue down the hall for a cutscene.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 7 - A Chance Meeting |
|_/ (00007) ------------------------------------------------------o

There's a secret mission available at the start here, head into the hall and
before going into the door, double jump up above the light to a small
indentation in the wall, examine the statue to find Secret Mission 3.

A surprisingly easy and difficult mission at the same time. When I started
this I thought it wouldn't be physically possible until way later in the game,
I couldn't beat four to five seconds no matter how hard I tried, then all of a
sudden I realized just how easy it is. First of all I had the sword combat
fighting style on which was a key part of this, and the Air Hike ability of
course, nothing else. What I did was let all the enemies gather near me and
then Air Hike into the air. From there you should delay as much as possible
by firing your Handguns and swinging your sword with the circle button, now as
you slowly fall keep swinging your sword and you will almost definitely hit
one of the enemies, the instant this happens you have the ability to Air Hike
once again so just do it straight up, shoot and swing until you come down
again to repeat the process. Eventually as time is getting low I found myself
wildly slamming the X, circle and square buttons to fire, swing and jump with
all the enemies were below, but surprisingly it worked out quite well. I
tried it once more to verify it wasn't a fluke and it works. Of course the
other method is obviously Air Raid, while it isn't an option now you'll
remember from previous Devil May Cry games that Air Raid allows you to fly in
demon form, just come back here and do the Secret Mission when you get it.

Grab the Blue Orb Fragment and that should be another full Blue Orb. Drop
down and enter the door right below the bright light. Your destination is all
the way down at the bottom of this huge tower. Enter the door there. Now
start running around destroying the statues until you find one with the
Orihalcon Fragment underneath. Picking it up eliminates the barrier and
allows you to return to the previous room. Use the super jump devices to
launch yourself all the way to the top. Note that one of the levels near the
top has a shiny Holy Water item sitting on the ground. Enter the green door
and go out onto the ledge. At the far tip is a broken pillar, jump on top of
it and many large Red Orbs will float down to you. Head back into the hall
and ascend the stairs. Now there's some extremely difficult platforming here.
Above your are a number of ceiling columns, many of them have Red Orbs on top.
Well the highest and furthest back one has a Blue Orb Fragment, in order to
get it you have to perfect your Air Hike usage. The way I was able to get it
was keeping this in mind. If you jump once and then Air Hike while HOLDING
the analog stick in a direction you will do a flip in that direction, however
is you Air Hike while not touching the analog stick at all you will jump
straight up. After jumping straight up you can use the analog stick to
manoeuvre very carefully in mid air and hopefully slowly get to the fragment.

Drop down and enter the door. Smash your way through all the statues as you
head up the path. Go inside the room on the left and approach the statue to
trigger an attack from a horde of enemies. Approach the statue again after
the battle and grab the Siren's Shriek. In the next room jump up and examine
the power device, you'll automatically use the Orihalcon Fragment. Before
doing anything else you should check out the statue nearby, now this one is
ridiculously hard to defeat. You need to use the Rebellion but in doing so
you have to maximize the amount of times you hit the statue, moving to a
different combo for every single hit. The Stringer attack that ends with the
super fast sword stab is very effective but it will take more than that if you
finally want to extinguish the final flame. After doing so a Blue Org
Fragment is revealed. Head down to the bottom of the room and get on the
elevator. Now you can access the statue if you wish, but your main
destination is that fiery door. Now using the Siren's Shriek you have the
power to put out the flames. Do so and proceed through the door. This is
just a slight deviation but if you've been running out of new actions to spend
your orbs on and haven't already been doing so, going to the item menu and
blowing every last Red Orb you have on full Blue Orbs is a great idea.

In this room head down the stairs below you and grab the Yellow Orb. Open the
door at the top and slash through the wall. Now activate the emblem on the
far wall using your sword and a large ball on a chain comes down. You can use
your diverse knowledge of physics to follow the ball around as you strike it
or you can cheat by jumping on top and striking it from there. Hitting it
enough times before it raises back up drops the Crystal Skull onto the ground
which of course brings a ton of enemies with it. Now remember if you weren't
already aware, the enemies with the large object that send souls out around
them are actually the ringleaders, other enemies will respawn infinitely until
these are defeated, and then all you have to do is clean up the onces
remaining. Don't go for the small fry, go for the real thing. Return to the
previous room and ride the elevator back up to the top. Fight your way
through another bunch of enemies on the hall with all the statues. The door
at the top with the indentation on the right pillar, insert the skull and head
through the door. Outside is one of those Red Orbs crystals, use the fast
Stinger combo to get lots of them out of it. Continue forward and use the
statue to purchase any last minute items or abilities, and prepare for a boss.

o- Boss (Vergil) ------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| Lucky for you the game's bosses don't get exponentially harder as you go |
| along. As long as you realize the weakness of this boss you can win the |
| battle. That weakness is of course, Ebony & Ivory. Fighting this guy, |
| who is a master of the blade with your own sword will only get you killed, |
| that doesn't mean of course that you should just keep firing for the |
| entire battle, there's a good mix to be had. The best combination for the |
| fight is simply Ebony & Ivory, Rebellion and the Air Hike skill. Each |
| time Vergil attacks he is temporarily vulnerable, but since his attacks |
| all have good range and power what you should be doing while he attacks is |
| using Air Hike to stay in the air above him firing downward with your guns |
| for decent damage, but the real damage comes when you land. Do your very |
| best to land just as his attack finishes, then Stinger into him and let |
| loose a four swing sword combo. Obviously doing this correctly just once |
| will make you realize how fast this battle is going to go. The one little |
| complication comes near the end when he teleports to the sides and fires |
| a projectile, simply jump when he's charging up and Air Hike before he |
| blasts to dodge it every time, and when he comes back, shoot and slash. |

| | -------o-------- Mission 8 - A Renewed Fear |
|_/ (00008) ------------------------------------------------------o

You finally have the ability to use Devil Trigger, however it won't be of much
use at the moment. Jump up and slash that thing on your right to release one
of the tusks, it tells you that four more remain. Another of those ugly orb
things lies on the opposite side of this same path. Drop off the edge here
and head back in the direction you came from to find another right beside some
kind of bus. Turn around and run in the opposite direction, break the wooden
boards and examine the blue tablet to find thing for Secret Mission 4. To be
honest I just recommend coming back to this mission later, your only chance is
using the Swordmaster circle button attack while in Devil Trigger mode, but
even then you just drain it extremely quickly at this point in the game.

Jump over the bus and head through the opening down deeper into the creature.
Remember to avoid stepping on that oozing yellow goo. There's one behind the
disgusting waterfall and then run up the path, wall kick up to the higher
platform and cross the bridge to reach another of those Red Orb statues and on
the opposite side is the final device. Jump down and grab the three Red Orbs
right below you. Now as you jump down land on top of that large pirate ship
at the far end, on top of it you'll find another Blue orb Fragment. Now jump
all the way down. You'll find the entrance that you opened up is at the front
end of the bus. At the end of this path you'll find a statue built into the
wall and you can make some upgrades if you wish. Slash through the thing at
the end and head through to the next room. Ignore what you see here and keep
following the path. As you do in the next area a huge gigapede monster
similar to the one you fought previously will give chase. If you learned
anything from the Spider chases in Devil May Cry it's that running is for
sissies and real men fight back for the Red Orbs. Start slashing this thing
like crazy and it should be too distracted by the pain to even fight back.
Enter the next room and get ready to battle some brand new enemies.

Just make your way down the path into the following room, in here a bunch of
enemies will spawn and every orb they drop will be absorbed by the pod in the
middle, once it has absorbed enough pods a small scene occurs and you can pick
up the Ignis Fatuus. Leave the room via the optic nerve. As you proceed near
the beginning there will be a left fork off the path, run down to the end and
grab the Green Orb. Now continue along until you come to another fork, down
the left branch here is a statue, you'll need the Cerberus to destroy it and
get the Blue Orb Fragment. Now take the right branch for a another Gigapede
chase, kick its ass and enter the door at the end. Take the opening on top of
the bus. Follow the path to the end, use the statue and go through the door
at the end. Examine the pedestal in the middle and use the Ignis Fatuus.

o- Boss (Heart of Leviathan) ------------------------------------------------o
| |
| This boss has three parts, the main core and two side pods. In order to |
| destroy the main core you must first defeat one of the pods. Doing this |
| opens up the core and allows you a chance to attack, once a certain amount |
| of time has passed the core closes and you have to defeat on of the pods |
| again. Very simple idea, but still a somewhat difficult fight. If you're |
| using the Swordmaster style doing the circle slash in the air works well |
| for damaging the pods otherwise stick with your Handguns and a downward |
| triangle slash as you fall. Numerous enemies will surround you during the |
| battle but a fortunate side effect of slashing the pod as you fall is that |
| you will be defeating enemies while you land. This is good because it |
| builds your Devil Trigger bar, each time the main core opens up you should |
| go into Devil Trigger mode and start using the normal four sword slash |
| combo over and over (or whatever weapon you prefer) until you are attacked |
| by enemies. Quickly get out of Devil Trigger and start the process again. |
| One more important thing to note obviously is how to dodge the boss' |
| attacks. It only has two and they are both extremely easy to dodge. The |
| first is a purple orb attack where balls of energy will come after you, |
| these can actually hit the enemies and destroy them so all you need to do |
| is hide behind an enemy and the orbs will be taken care of as they come |
| near you. They also dissipate quickly and move slowly so jumping out of |
| the way works well. The second attack is a red laser beam that starts on |
| the left or right side of the room randomly, then goes back and forth two |
| times. Just use a combination of Air Hike and stalling yourself with the |
| Handguns to avoid it. Just note that after the boss has lost more than |
| half its health, it changes this attack to involve two laser beams. Now |
| what you need to do is when you see the boss preparing for it jump into |
| middle of the room and Air Hike the instant the lasers appear, land on the |
| ground after they have crossed once and Air Hike one more time. |

| | -------o-------- Mission 9 - Faded Memories |
|_/ (00009) ------------------------------------------------------o

Run down into the next hall and go through the door. You'll be trapped in
here and have to defeat three spider enemies. Once they are killed go through
the door with the design on it. Now if you don't currently have it equipped
use the statue and put on the Trickster style. Position yourself in front of
the little design on the wall directly left of the statue and start to run up
the wall, when you jump off Air Hike almost immediately toward the wall again
and if you're good you can land in a little hidden area up top. In here you
will find a Blue Orb Fragment. Drop down and to be faced with a puzzle. It's
quite simple, All you have to do is destroy the correct mirrors with your
sword, if you happen to mess up you can smash the emblem at the top to restore
them all. I could draw a diagram however I'm sure you know the difference
between East and West. To complete this simple puzzle just smash the West
mirror and the South mirror. Return to the waterfall near the beginning of
this area, there's a statue on your right and a door on your left. Take the
door when you're ready. There's just a long linear path here with some
enemies leading to another door. Avoid the spinning pillars on the wall when
defeating these enemies, proceed into the next area. Follow the path on
Dante's right and you'll see a red orb on top of a stone pillar after you pass
by the statue. Jump up onto that pillar and from there up to the rock
platform, there's a shining object at the end, grab it to receive the Spiral,
a new gun. Jump down and return to the statue, enter the room beside it.

Navigate between these spinning columns to the end of the hall. In the next
room you'll find Ambrosia sitting on the plate between the torches. Get ready
to do battle against five of the arachnids though. Return to the main lake
area with the waterfall. You will note that there is a statue near the
waterfall, keep it in mind because you do not currently have the weapon needed
to break it. Enter the cave through the waterfall. As you go through make a
left at the fork and slide down to an area where you will find a Devil Star.
Jump back up and fight your way through, on the right wall of where most of
the enemies are concentrated you can double jump up to a secret platform
above. You'll find two crystals here, they reveal Secret Mission 5.

The goal of Secret Mission 5 is to destroy all the destructible objects within
the time limit. The Rebellion works fine, you don't need any special
techniques to do this, just a little knowledge of what you're after. Most of
the things are pretty obvious, I'll just outline them basically in case
there's anything that's really frustrating you. Near where you start you want
to destroy the sign beside the door, all the tables and bar stools, then the
five bottles on the counters beside the door. Over on the other side there's
a jukebox and dartboards blocking two barrels, as well as another two barrels
near the bar and beside the exit door that lead to the club in Mission 3. In
the bar not only are there all the bottles to destroy on the back shelf but
there are also a number of bottles on that hanging shelf above the actual bar
counter. There's also a barrel back here. There's nothing super hidden, in
fact if you followed that you should have exactly 47 right now. The last
three are the three barrels located on top of the bar. Now get your reward.

With another Blue Orb Fragment in your possession it's time to continue along
that path you were on. Head down to a design carved into the call, put the
Ambrosia into the hand and open the door. Prepare yourself for a fight.

o- Boss (Nevan) -------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| Here's an example of a fight that really gets harder as it goes along, |
| almost to the point where it really isn't difficult at all until near the |
| very end. This boss can be defeated quite easily just by knowing exactly |
| what to do. First of all the boss has a special shield made of bats on |
| all the time so what you need to do is eliminate this shield. This can |
| be done quite easily with your sword but you won't be able to just run |
| up to her all the time. She has four attacks in her first form, here's |
| what to do. First she will start by throwing electric bats at you. This |
| attack can be dodged simply by walking, brutally easy. The second attack |
| is when a ball of light appears on the ground and then turns into a large |
| vertical beam, again simply by holding the analog stick and running in any |
| direction it is guaranteed you will dodge this. Finally she has a small |
| electric attack that is short range, once this final attack goes through |
| run up to her and start smashing with your sword combo, you will be able |
| to tell her shield is diminishing. You'll either knock it off here or on |
| the next repeat of this technique, but the point is when you do right away |
| hit L1 to go into Devil Trigger and use the normal four slash combo over |
| and over again for a good 1/5 of her life gone. This is the basic process |
| you will be using for the entire fight. After two of these damage attacks |
| her pattern changes. She gets a new attack that's extremely easy to |
| dodge. You will see the floor become electrified and then that's your cue |
| to Air Hike and start firing Ebony & Ivory to delay in the air while the |
| entire ground is shocked. Her other new attack is the first difficult to |
| dodge one, it's similar to the Griffon from Devil May Cry where electric |
| pillars come at you either horizontally or vertically. Rather than moving |
| between them or jumping over them I find it easier simply to run to the |
| side since neither of them fill up the whole screen. You need to watch |
| out though because before this attack is even over she will fly right up |
| to you and use a powerful melee attack, make sure you run out of the way |
| and then the instant it is over that's your chance to start sword swinging |
| again to take off the shield. Finally when it gets to the point where one |
| more round of attacks will kill her, she gets one new super powerful |
| attack. She warps to the centre of the room and her shield drops, now |
| under NO circumstance should you go near her, if she touches you in this |
| condition she sucks the life out of you restoring her back up to almost |
| half and pretty much signing your death certificate. What you want to do |
| is simply run normally in the opposite direction until she gets too close |
| and then Air Hike up into the air and fire your guns to delay as long as |
| possible. By the time you land she will have gone back to her previous |
| routine. One more thing to note is that in this case her shield also |
| regenerates at a much faster rate so in order to end the battle quickly |
| you will probably want to slash her shield in Devil Trigger mode as well, |
| rather than just using it when the shield comes off. Despite the rather |
| lengthy explanation here, she really is probably the easiest boss yet. |
| |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

Afterward you get a new weapon and quite possibly the dumbest (and by dumbest
I mean the most totally awesomest) cutscene in the entire universe. Enjoy.

| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 10 - The Job |
|_/ (0000A) ------------------------------------------------------o

Head left and grab the Stone Mask in the middle of the path. Go back through
the door and backtrack to the statue and use it to equip the Nevan if you
haven't already. Now this is a super electric guitar weapon with quite a few
attacks even without learning any of its many abilities. Directly opposite
the statue on the far side is one of the Blue Orb Fragment Statues which can
only be damaged with the Nevan. You can use four different types of attacks
depending on which direction you are holding, forward and no direction shoot a
lightning bat ball, backward is a guitar upper slash, right is a wave of
energy around you and left is a super guitar solo resulting in a huge purple
beam aiming down on your head. Use all four of these to destroy the statue
just beside the waterfall to get the Blue Orb Fragment from it.

Beside the upgrade statue is a door, and beside that is a glowing statue which
you should put the Stone Mask in. This raises up a bridge for you to cross
and Neo Generator for you to grab from underneath the statue. If you go
beside the statue you'll find a skull, examine it to reveal Secret Mission 6.

This secret mission is quite easy assuming you have the prerequisite, and that
prerequisite is the Air Raid ability for the Neval. While in Devil Trigger
mode jump into the air and press down + X to start flying, now fly around
collecting all the orbs on the top level including the items that fully
restore your Devil Trigger bar. Once you've got all the ones on the top level
make sure you collect the three on the way down beside the platform and then
fly once again in a straight line in between the lower level so that they all
float to you, there's no hidden orbs, that's all of them. Now you can go and
pick up your Blue Orb Fragment which is waiting on top of the bus.

Now return all the way back to the entrance of this area from the last
mission. In the next room some gates will drop and a new type of enemy will
appear, simply defeat them by striking them with your sword from behind. In
the room just before the entrance you'll have to fight a number of arachnids
including a new type, but that's not really so bad. Examine the pedestal
beside the door and the run across the bridge into the next room for a scene.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 11 - Revenge |
|_/ (0000B) ------------------------------------------------------o

Kill the two enemies in the first room and drop down to the bottom. On the
ledge near the door you'll find a Devil Star. Now from this platform use the
Air Hike to jump away and then back in the opposite direction so you land on
the ledge above you. Examine the object here to reveal Secret Mission 7.

Similar to the previous mission, this one too has a prerequisite. In order to
make it to the Blue or Fragment in time, short of perhaps some serious
strategic use of the Stinger attack, you will have to be in Devil Trigger mode
for most of it since you run faster that way. You will need at least seven
Devil Trigger icons, which means buying four Purple Orbs. Immediately go into
Devil Trigger at the start and begin to run, when you come to the part where
you have to jump go OUT of Devil Trigger for the jump and then back into it
when you land again. This will allow you to get the fragment just in time.

Drop down from the ledge and enter the door at the bottom. The first thing
you should do here is jump up on the pipes and grab the Blue Org Fragment from
the little indentation in the wall at the top. Now defeat all the spirit
enemies in this room, I did it with the Ebony & Ivory charge up shots. In the
next room you'll see a sword sticking out near some Red Orbs, use it to jump
up to the walkway above. Ignore the large block with the faces on it for now,
go around the walkway and smash down the wall where light it visible between
the cracks. Use your sword to knock this particular block down the walkway in
a straight line until it is inserted underneath the red glowing object.
Return to the other side and do the same thing, a door is revealed. Defeat
all the enemies in the room and go through the now opened door.

Underneath the stairs you will find a statue which can be destroyed for a Blue
Orb Fragment using Agni & Rudra. Knock the statue toward the stairs using a
melee weapon to reveal a hole. Drop down, and grab the Holy Water & Green
Orb. Now jump back up and get onto the transport platform. Defeat the
enemies who appear as you go along and then ascend the stairs at the end. Use
the statue and then go into the room and approach the object at the end.

o- Boss (Beowulf) -----------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| Not a particularly hard boss, what Beowulf lacks in speed he makes up for |
| in damage. All of his attacks while not hard to dodge deal massive damage |
| when you find yourself unfortunately hit by them. He sorts of sticks to |
| a single strategy during the start of the fight, changes part way through |
| and then goes back later. At the start of the fight all you need are your |
| trusty Ebony & Ivory and the Air Hike ability. When the boss runs up to |
| you jump and then Air Hike, now start blasting him with the Hanguns to |
| delay your fall and the instant you see him pound the ground press the |
| triangle button to slash down and go into Devil Trigger to cause serious |
| damage. Eventually he will change format, running to a corner he knocks |
| down huge columns and hurls them at you, simply press X and left/right |
| to roll, or use the dodge button if you're still using Trickster style. |
| He also gets another attack where he shoots a blast of light from all |
| around him. After launchiing five or six of these columns at you he'll |
| charge and do the light explosion attack, this is your chance to Devil |
| Trigger and start attacking like mad. Finally once he gets close to death |
| he combines all his attacks in a big wave of randomness, at this point you |
| should be in the clear to just go on an all out aggressive attack anyway. |

| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 12 - Hunter and Hunted |
|_/ (0000C) ------------------------------------------------------o

Run down the path and get onto the moving platform, here you'll have to fend
off a huge number of enemies but fortunately each one of them drops a small
Green Orb. There's an incredibly cheap way to do this however, if you learned
Air Raid simply equip the Nevan and jump into the air, pressing X and R1 to
fly. Now hold R1 and simply pound the square button to fire lightning blasts
down upon your opponents from a height making you literally invincible. Or
you can do it the old fashioned way of course. After the trip you can knock
the statue out of the way and get the large Green Orb if you need it, then go
into the next room and fight past the enemies again. It's just a matter of
retracing your steps back. At one point you'll have to fight one of those
large grim reaper enemies but fortunately you get a large Green Orb in return
once it is defeated. Leave that room and cross the bridge for a scene.

Open the door at the other end and grab the Vital Star L from the ground. Use
the statue to upgrade whatever you need and then descend the stairs down.

o- Boss (Geryon) ------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| At the beginning of this battle it's just a constant battle of the boss |
| running at you, and you jumping easily out of the way and attacking with |
| some kind of firearm. In fact this is all you need to do until you've |
| taken a moderate fraction out of the boss' life. At that point the bridge |
| collapses and the battle continues down below. This is going to be the |
| most hectic and random battle so far. The boss runs around the edge |
| firing missles at you from its cart, just dodge these easily with a normal |
| jump out of the way. Eventually it will run to the middle of the arena, |
| this is your cue to Devil Trigger and start striking. You can jump and |
| dodge the attack where it brings its feet down hard but the key is to hit |
| it enough so that it falls down and you can really dish out the damage. |
| This continues for awhile but eventually the boss gets a new attack where |
| orbs surround the field and put you into a sort of slow-time zone, and |
| while this isn't really a disadvantage for you at first, it can often |
| leave you with little time to avoid a charge or right in the middle of |
| some magic flying spears, so avoid the orbs if you can. Continue your |
| aggressive tactic of melee attacks at the centre for the entire battle. |
| |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

After the fight you learn a new fighting style, the Quicksilver which allows
you to control time freely in battle. Try it out if you like.

| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 13 - Chaos' Warm Welcome |
|_/ (0000D) ------------------------------------------------------o

Lots of statues in the first room of this hall, defeat them and move on. As
you descend the spiral stairs here you'll notice that one of the lights in
particular is a different colour, examine it to reveal Secret Mission 8.

Secret Mission 8 has no special conditions or anything like that, it's simply
a difficult challenge against a horde of enemies. It starts off with three
normal arachnid enemies, once they are killed it moves on to the three larger
arachnids and all this is child's play compared to what comes next, you must
fight two of the grim reaper enemies at once which makes it virtually
impossible to dodge all of the teleport attacks with any reasonable
consistency so it becomes a matter of killing them before they kill you, a
battle of attrition. I admit I had to turn to items for this one, but it only
cost me one Devil Star, going into Devil Trigger and swinging madly to
penetrate their defenses, then filling up the gauge and doing it once again
eliminated one of them leaving the other a breeze to clean up.

A B C Continue down the stairs and ignore the door at the bottom. Head to
D E F the end of the hall and go into the door there. Beat up all the statue
H I J and proceed through the door beside the metal gate. There's a bunch of
K L M mirrors in here, but the puzzle is quite simple. If the diagram on the
left represents the mirror positions then the only ones you have to
destroy are E and C. Once they are destroyed break the wall blocking the path
of the mirror to the East and go into that hallway. There's one more mirror
here direction it to the right, into the wall. Break that mirror to complete
the puzzle. The beam of light opens the door that it shines through so go
back there and grab the Orihalcon off the pedestal beside the statue.

Leave the room and follow the hallway to the very end. In the next room
you'll find a statue and a large White Orb down the hall to the South. Follow
the other hall down to the end and break the statue by using Nevan to get up
to a Showtime combo. Return to the large door near the statue and insert the
Orihalcon into it. Go inside for a scene once it is unlocked.

o- Boss (Vergil) ------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| This fight is very similar to the previous battle with Vergil, while his |
| moveset has changed the tactic pretty much remains the same. Fire at him |
| from a distance until he comes to do a melee combo. At that point Air |
| Hike up and he will end the combo with kind of an uppercut kick into the |
| air, that's your cue to press triangle to slash down and stun him, now |
| Devil Trigger and start slashing like mad, the great thing is you don't |
| even have to judge when to let up because once he moves again your sword |
| swing will ALWAYS deflect his counterattack. Now he'll either do the |
| combo again or teleport and do a kick, either way you just jump to dodge |
| and slash down. Eventually once he's taken a good amount of damage he |
| will transform into his own Devil Trigger, at this point he cannot be |
| stunned so don't bother trying to combo him, all you want is to get him |
| out of Devil Trigger. Dodge his combos the same way and slash down with |
| your sword from the air, but do not follow up this downward slash with a |
| combo until he is out of Devil Trigger, the slash itself will usually take |
| him out of it. As the battle progresses he'll spend more and more time in |
| Devil Trigger form but it's always possible to get him out, he starts |
| using a special attack where he shoots a projectile wave but simple moving |
| via the analog stick can always dodge it, once you know you've dodged that |
| attack follow up with a Stinger to disorient him easily and attack him. |
| |

| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 14 - Drive! |
|_/ (0000E) ------------------------------------------------------o

Start by following the path up, near the edge you'll find the Beowulf weapon.
To the right of where you started is a statue, go down there and equip the
Beowulf. Head back up and use the gauntlets on the statue to get a Blue Orb
Fragment and to reveal the door. Step onto the elevator and ride it up.
Proceed through the crack in the wall and into the door. In this next area as
you go up the thin hallway there's two blue torches. Jump up above the left
one and into the indentation in the wall. You'll find Secret Mission 9.

Here's an easy secret mission, simply set up the Gunslinger style (or don't,
it's not a requirement) and start the mission. Enemies will constantly appear
on other moving platforms and you have to destroy them before they escape.
Fortunately they always come with one of those exploding enemies so target
those first with Ebony & Ivory and then just slam the square button to clean
up the remainders. The reason I said to use Gunslinger is because it makes
the mission so easy, between platforms you can hold the square button to
charge up your guns and blast any enemies almost immediately after they appear
giving you more than enough time to take care of what remains. Just make sure
you start firing as soon as possible on the last few platforms which only have
exploding guys, because they move fast, and they don't stop.

Drop down and head into the next room, defeat all the enemies here and leave.
Descend the stairs and grab the Green Orb under the statue, then get on the
moving platform and take it to the other side. Enter the room and go through
the gate. Head through another gate toward a green circle on the ground and
beat up the enemies, go back and take the other gate now. Beat up all the
horse statues and then afterward choose the gate leading to a shiny object on
the other side, it is a Vital Star S. Return to the previous room and head
toward the red this time. On to the next one after defeating the enemies,
you'll find a Blue Orb Fragment before leaving this area.

Use the statue if you need to and then enter the door on the opposite side.
In this area there's a large blue pillar of light which acts as a
teleportation device. Once you step into it exit the room via the door with
the blood streak and head back toward the direction of where Cerberus was.

| | -------o-------- Mission 15 - The Gatecrasher |
|_/ (0000F) ------------------------------------------------------o

Approach the door to start here and two new types of enemies will appear, jump
and slash with your sword to break their shields and then do you best to combo
them. Once they are defeated go through the door. In the next room you have
to fight another battle before you can go any further. Climb the stairs and
then go down the others on the left. As you come through this door, Air Hike
up onto the left or right wall, and from there jump up above the door and
smash the Red Orb crystal. Descend the stairs and attack the emblem on the
wall to activate it. Return to the room where you fought the arachnids and
activate the emblem on the wall once. Head through the door with the coloured
design on it. Drop down this area, watch out for the gears with the serrated
edges, and go into the room at the bottom. Avoid the moving death blades
while you make your way to the back and grab the Orihalcon Fragment.

In the previous room with all the moving gears there is an emblem on the wall
at the bottom, slash it to activate it once and then exit through the door at
the top. Now in this room you need to Air Hike over all the spinning things
on the ground, and make it to the next area. Defeat all the arachnids and
pick up the Orihalcon Fragment. Return to the previous room and slash the
emblem in the little alcove near the door. Jump to the end of the hall and go
through the door. Use the statue as needed and run to the far end, past the
blue door you can jump up onto the stone platform at the top and get a whole
lot of Red Orbs. Now go through the blue door and get the Green Orb. Grab
the final Orihalcon Fragment at the far end and return to the previous room.
You need to slash the emblem on the wall in this area once. Now enter the
door beside the statue, follow the linear pathway all the way around and down
the stairs to reach the underground arena. Drop off the edge and search the
floor at the bottom to find a Blue Orb Fragment. Now return to the
subterranean lake with the emblem you most recently actiavated beside the
statue, activate it one more time and head through the door beside the statue.
Battle the arachnids and then put all your Orihalcon Fragments into the
indentation in the next room. Step on the elevator and ride it up.

| | -------o-------- Mission 16 - Win of Lose |
|_/ (0000G) ------------------------------------------------------o

Take the right branch and head through the blue door. Make your way up the
stairs, go through the door at the top and defeat all the enemies in this room
to unlock the door. In the next area slash the emblem on the wall and then
destroy the large ball on the chain when it comes down. It will reveal a
shiny object, the Golden Sun. You'll have to fight your way through a odd new
type of enemy, but their attack is ground based to dodging it is the easiest
thing in the world just by jumping. Before leaving the room examine the
glowing door beside where you got the Golden Sun to reveal Secret Mission 10.

This is a large version of the classic light puzzle you've been doing so far,
just obviously a little more challenging. Not that much so however, it's
pretty easy to reason where the light should be going every time. The problem
is that they are randomly generated based on six possible setups, and while
I'm not exactly ready to draw and angle all the possible before and after
setups, what I can do is give you a couple clues. First of all there's a
couple that require you to destroy five or six mirrors, but the majority of
them require you to smash no more than three, keep that in mind while doing
it. If that still isn't enough then you can try and get the setup so that
when you come in there is a statue just in front of you to the left, (not
directly in front of the door, one space to the left.) In this case there
should also be a statue right below the wall with the crack in it at the upper
left. Now this is the easiest of all of them, from the bottom statue simply
destroy the mirror one space up and one space right, then again one space up
and one space right. Once you've destroyed those two mirrors the light beam
will be firing into the wall. All you have to do is break down the wall with
the crack in it, destroy the middle mirror there that's facing South and
preventing the light from hitting the statue voila, instant Blue Orb Fragment.

Now backtrack to where you started the mission and take the left branch to the
red door this time. Head down and go through the crack in the wall, here you
will find two emblems. Activate them both and now knock the two ball and
chains toward each other, when they make contact they will smash and reveal
the path to the Onyx Moonshard. If you go into the room at the top of the
stairs and defeat all the enemies you can get a Devil Star. Return to the
start of the level, use the statue if you have to and then go South to put
both the Golden Sun and the Onyx Moonshard into the door and proceed through.
Navigate between all the enemies along a linear path which eventually ends
when you reach the library and it triggers a cutscene.

o- Boss (Lady) --------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| Fought correctly, Lady is a breeze, in fact contrary to most fights in the |
| game she actually gets easier near the end of the fight, but lets start |
| with the beginning. Basically she runs around firing her Handgun wildly |
| and shooting rockets at you. The rockets are easy to dodge but the |
| bullets are not, fortunately they deal pitiful damage. Getting a melee |
| attack on her is difficult because she moves around so much but it's the |
| main way of dealing damage, so what you should do is jump around firing |
| Ebony & Ivory at her, then when you find yourself above her slash down and |
| try to combo from there. The best circumstance is when you come down from |
| the air and Devil Trigger right as you land so that even if she shoots the |
| tiny amount of damage you take will be nothing compared to what you dish |
| out. Next comes the most dangerous part of the fight, when she throws |
| grenades. In fact she'll throw so many and so often that I would just |
| recommend firing from afar until she has dropped them all. She'll drop a |
| ton of them while standing on one of the bookshelves, drop down and use |
| her grappling hook to get away. After she lands but before she escapes |
| drop from the air and do a Devil Trigger combo if you can. Now as she |
| nears death the easiest part of the battle starts. She gets a new attack |
| where she sticks her rocket launcher into the ground and fires some heat |
| seeking missiles. The problem for her is that this attack takes so long |
| to set up, and she's stationary the entire time she's doing it so all you |
| have to do is run up to her in Devil Trigger mode and attack her to death. |
| |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

Use the jump pads to bounce up to the door. Stand in the broken rubble beside
it to get a stash of Red Orbs, then go through to end the mission. At this
point with your new rocket launcher, I recommend going back to Mission 8 and
making your way down the path from the bus to find Secret Mission 4.

Assuming you didn't do it before you'll be able to do it now. The Kalina Ann
can totally clean up on this elevator. There's no real strategy you need
here, simply equip the Kalina Ann and fire upon the enemies as they fall down.
Blast a rocket into the middle of a group to launch virtually all of them over
the edge and use whatever means you wish to take out whoever remains.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 17 - Inner-Demons |
|_/ (0000H) ------------------------------------------------------o

Above the light beside you is a Vital Star S in the little indentation. Make
your way to the end of the hall, if you go through the crack you can try to
defeat all the enemies for a Yellow Orb, but it isn't really worth it.
Proceed through the door and prepare your wrists for a beating. There's a Red
Orb crystal in the middle of the room, and a Blue Orb Fragment statue on the
right side which must be destroyed using a better-than-Showtime combo with the
Beowulf gauntlets, it's difficult but very doable, just be sure to change your
attacks with every single swing. Get ready for a bit of platform jumping as
well as you slowly progress up this area on the moving blocks and through the
first door you come to. Defeat all the enemies here and go out the door,
you'll find a statue and at the end of the path a Blue Orb Fragment.

Return to the large block room and continue to jump up all the way to the top.
In here you'll find a statue and one single path up to the trials. Beat the
arachnids in here and then go through the door on the right of the rubble-
blocked doors. In the next room you have to face a far more difficult version
of the spear trial. If you have any Devil Trigger remaining use it, because
you'll need some serious speed to get through this. At the top there's a
crack in the wall to go through. Use the bounce pad to reach the upper area.
Now in this part jump up onto the ceiling beams, on not the highest, but
middle level there is one illuminated figure to examine for Secret Mission 11.

For this mission you have to do pretty much you you just did in Mission 17,
only much more difficult. The spikes are moving much faster this time and
avoiding them becomes all the more difficult. Without Devil Trigger you can
pretty much set this Blue Orb Fragment aside to pick up later, because without
the extra boost of speed getting from one end to the other is just impossible.

In the next room you'll meet some new enemies that are rather on the dangerous
side, but certainly nothing you can't take care of with a few hard punches
from old Beowulf. Use the statue in the next area and continue on up toward
the top. A cutscene triggers when you approach the dark cloud.

o- Boss (Doppelganger) ------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| You can beat this boss without being hit once. I'm telling you that now. |
| Do this right and you'll be set because he has a distinct pattern and is |
| one of the only bosses who doesn't change it as the fight goes along. |
| Here's what to do: equip yourself with the Beowulf gauntlets, now you will |
| notice that there are many lights around this area, but the shutters are |
| closed. To open them on the normal difficulty it takes exactly one normal |
| Beowulf combo, then exactly two more hits. So what you want to do is |
| combo one of them, hit it once more and WAIT. When the boss charges you |
| from the middle you hit it the final time right as he is about to reach |
| you and the light will shatter his shield. Unfortunately the time you are |
| given to attack is very short so you'll have to do this quite often, but |
| like I said there's a pattern. After this assuming you are still on the |
| outer edge he will ALWAYS do the attack where energy blasts up from the |
| ground, this can be dodged simply by running. After that he will always |
| jump forward and attack you, this can be dodged easily by jumping. After |
| jumping and dodging this attack aim and start a combo on one of the many |
| lights. When you have one hit left wait for him to jump toward you which |
| he will do every time and smash the light to break his shield. Repeat |
| over and over until desired results are achieved. One more recommendation |
| I would give is that you should aim the analog stick toward the lights |
| when attacking rather than R1 targeting, because even when you're standing |
| beside the light it still has a tendency to target the boss sometimes. |
| |

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 18 - Invading Hell |
|_/ (0000I) ------------------------------------------------------o

At the beginning of the level head forward and jump into the portal. Now
you'll have to square off against a large chess board of enemies. You can try
to blast your way through all of them, or just go for the checkmate.
Defeating the king statue destroys every other piece on the board. Jump
through the portal and make your way to the large foot. Ignore the portal and
run over the foot to the back where you will find some Red Orbs as well as a
path leading to a tablet on the wall. Examine it to reveal Secret Mission 12.

In order to complete this mission equip the Trickster style level 2 and be
prepared from some serious block platforming. Get on the one near the wall
and jump onto the rotating one that's going back and forth right above it.
Now in about the middle of its movement jump to the wall, holding circle to
run up it and then Air Hike at the top to land on the long string of blocks
moving in and out of the wall. From here you can jump, run up the wall and
Air Hike onto one fast rotating block, jump from here to the nearest rotating
block and ride to to the peak of its ascent. Front here you can Air Hike to
the platform with the final secret mission's Blue Orb Fragment.

Back in the level again, get onto the main part of the foot and jump through
the portal. Now you have to fight your way through a little Mega Manism, and
that is of course fighting all the bosses again in a single mission. You'll
notice lots of items around this area, be sure to save them for when you
absolutely need them, coming out of a battle or something. Just so that you
know what you're up against, light blue is Cerberus, yellow is the Gigapede,
green is Agni & Rudra, red is the Heart of Leviathen, purple is Nevan, white
is Beowulf, blue is Geryon and black is the Doppelganger. There's also an
orange coloured one where you have to fight against some difficult enemies.

There's a large stone tablet that keeps track of which bosses you've defeated
by which gems are shining, now you don't actually have to defeat all the
bosses, in fact you only need to defeat three if you choose the right ones
because you can see that there are paths connecting these gems on the tablet.
To create the door you have to form a loop, where on the tablet it doesn't
matter. Looking at it you can see that the smallest loop you can create would
be between green, light blue and white. In other words Agni & Rudra, Cerberus
and Beowulf. Defeat these three or any other combination that would form a
loop on the tablet to spawn the exit portal. Note however that you need to
defeat all the bosses in order to get a Blue Orb Fragment, so perhaps it may
be in your best interests just to do that anyway then head through the gate.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 19 - Forces Collide |
|_/ (0000J) ------------------------------------------------------o

The level begins with you facing off against a number of normal bad guys.
Once they are defeating jump into the portal. Now in this next room you don't
actually have to kill any enemies, in fact it's not even possible to kill
them. What you need to do is note that you aren't actually reflecting in any
of the mirrors except one, and that's the mirror you have to smash. Break the
mirror and another will start reflecting your image. Move from mirror to
mirror until eventually the final one smashes and all the enemies just drop
dead. Now jump into the portal. In this room the special condition is that
you have a time limit constantly draining in the background, in order to
actually proceed without fighting any more enemies, you must defeat the
enemies in front of you before the hourglass completely drains. Use Devil
Trigger and Beowulf here to complete the challenge easily. Descend the
makeshift steps and examine the shiny object to get the Samsara.

Jump through the portal and pick up any Green Orbs you may need in this room.
Take the portal that was beside the large tablet back to where you first
started this mission, then through the portal again to reach the mirror room.
Examine the golden statue to use the Samsara then jump through the portal.
Cross the bridge and use the statue if need before before you proceed.

o- Boss (Arkham) ------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| It's finally time to battle the giant blob. The blob itself really does |
| not have a lot of dangerous attacks, while the ones he was are powerful, |
| they can be easily dodged by remaining airborne most of the time. A good |
| way to be offensive while remaining defensive is to fight with the |
| Rebellion and just keep jumping into the air and doing the downward |
| slash, it will keep you moving and deal good damage. The more difficult |
| part comes when the boss sinks into the ground and sends his little |
| minions after you, if you want to minimize you damage here you should wait |
| until you see a few of them pop up then burst into Devil Trigger and clean |
| up the field using simple sword slash combos. If you have to Devil |
| Trigger you can try the same thing while in normal form of just jump into |
| the air and try to fight from above. When they're all killed the boss |
| reappears and you can go back to your old tactic again. Now this is |
| actually the more difficult half of the battle, after the boss has lost |
| 50% of its health a scene occurs. Now you no longer have the ability to |
| use Devil Trigger and you also can use attacks based on your fighting |
| style (circle button attacks) but the extra body on your side more than |
| makes up for it. He can help you double the damage you do to the boss as |
| well as take care of most of the enemies that spawn while you work just to |
| keep yourself alive. If you have any problems with this battle it's going |
| to likely be trying to keep those enemies at bay, so if all else fails |
| just whip out the Kalina Ann and blast them a new orifice or two. |
| |

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Mission 20 - Screaming Souls |
|_/ (0000K) ------------------------------------------------------o

o- Boss (Vergil) ------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| Not surprisingly the final boss turns out to be the most difficult boss in |
| the game, what it's going to take to beat him is either a lot of items or |
| a lot of practice. You can probably beat him quickly with a ton of Vital |
| Stars and Holy Water but you can also beat him with a very short supply of |
| these items given a good amount of practice. I don't think there's any |
| text in the world you could read that would make you be able to go into |
| the fight and perform extremely well, so here's basically what you should |
| be looking to do once you've got a handle on how the fight works. The |
| boss has a couple of basic attacks, one is a sword combo of course which |
| ends with an attack from the air and a stab, this deals so much damage |
| that being hit by it can compeltely turn the fight around, perhaps not so |
| much at the start, but while he's in Devil Trigger form just forget about |
| being alive. Avoid it at all costs. He will be using it over and over |
| again however so the time to strike is after it ends. Often dropping down |
| with a slash from the air or a Stinger will knock him back and cause him |
| to just attack again, the best circumstance is when you're close enough |
| to just go right into the combo which should stun him enough to do the |
| four slashes a good three times over. His other attack is the same one he |
| had in the last battle, there's just more energy spheres. Dodge them by |
| running, jumping, dashing and pretty much just moving. It doesn't take |
| long for him to Devil Trigger, and under no circumstances should you try |
| to combo him in this form, if you attack with your sword it's only a |
| quick strike from the air to try and speed up his return to normal form |
| again. In cases like this and even in normal form do not underestimate |
| the awesome power and usefulness of Ebony & Ivory, not only do they deal a |
| nice bit of damage to him (which counteracts his health regain while Devil |
| Triggered) they also serve to hasten his transformation back again. Get |
| yourself in a position where you're in Stinger range while he is doing the |
| enegy sphere attack and Stinger right up to him, Devil Triggering as you |
| move and going into a normal Rebellion sword slash combo when you reach |
| him. Suffice to say in theory it all works but in practice you're going |
| to be hit by some of these combos, he moves quickly and short of cat-like |
| reflexes depending on how many Blue and Purple Orbs you have a good supply |
| of items can serve as good backup for fight that takes a few wrong turns. |
| |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

Watch the cutscene and get ready to do battle all through the credits. You
can keep track of how many enemies you have killed at the upper right corner,
kill 100 enemies before the end of the credits and you'll be able to watch a
special bonus cutscene. Careful though, enemy #100 is no normal foe.

You beat the game. Good job!

Now sit back and enjoy the ending.

O============================================================================O

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 1 - The Exorcist |
|_/ (00011) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 3 after the club section, door before the statue

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 2 - Untouchable |
|_/ (00012) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 5, skull on wall after using the Soul of Steel

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 3 - Death From Above |
|_/ (00013) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 7, double jump above light beside door at the start

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 4 - Devil's Teetor-Totter |
|_/ (00014) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 8, down the path from the bus at the very start

As I mentioned in the walkthrough while this mission becomes available in
Mission 8 I don't actually recommend doing it until you reach Mission 17 and
get the Kalina Ann, not that it's impossible by any means, but it's just a
Blue Orb Fragment and coming back to get it at that point takes about thirty
seconds. There's no real strategy you need here, simply equip the Kalina Ann
and fire upon the enemies as they fall down. Blast a rocket into the middle
of a group to launch virtually all of them over the edge and use whatever
means you wish to take out whoever remains. Pick up the fragment at the top.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 5 - Destroyer |
|_/ (00015) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 9 in waterfall cave, jump up the wall on the right

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 6 - Flight of the Demon |
|_/ (00016) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 10, beside statue after using the Stone Mask

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 7 - Hang 10 |
|_/ (00017) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Mission 11, jump from platform in first room to ledge above

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 8 - Tough Guys |
|_/ (00018) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Mission 13, spiral staircase at start has one unique red light

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 9 - Target Practice |
|_/ (00019) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Mission 14, just above blue flame in vestibule area

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 10 - Guiding Light |
|_/ (0001A) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Mission 16, glowing door below where you got the Golden Sun

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 11 - Of Pins and Needles |
|_/ (0001B) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 17, after using bounce thing on hall ceiling beams

For this mission you have to do pretty much you you just did in Mission 17,
only much more difficult. The spikes are moving much faster this time and
avoiding them becomes all the more difficult. Without Devil Trigger you can
pretty much set this Blue Orb Fragment aside to pick up later, because without
the extra boost of speed getting from one end to the other is just impossible.

_
| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Secret Mission 12 - Final Ascension |
|_/ (0001C) ------------------------------------------------------o

Location: Found in Mission 18, at the back of the large stone foot

O============================================================================O
| Styles (00200) |
O============================================================================O

TRICKSTER - Trickster is the default style and basically the most well rounded
one of them all, considering you can already attack and shoot with good
proficiency based on just the square and triangle buttons, setting the circle
button up as a dodge button can be helpful. This style gives you the ability
to dodge attacks quickly as well as the ability to run up walls.

SWORDMASTER - For those who prefer the use of the blade there's the
Swordmaster style. This style gives you an additional sword attack button,
the circle button. You can spin your sword around and also slash in mid-air.

GUNSLINGER - My personal favourite, Gunslinger changes the circle button to an
additional gunfire button giving virtually every gun a secondary fire mode and
allowing you to shoot in multiple directions, charge up your Handguns, and do
the Rain Storm attack where you spin upside down in mid-air. Another thing
you may not know is if you knock down an easy enemy, jump on his back to surf!

ROYALGUARD - This is the defensive style, I've rarely used it but it changes
the circle button to a block button and gives you the ability to defend and
counterattack. Given enough experience it should prove to be quite useful.

QUICKSILVER - Unlocked after defeating Geryon, this style gives you the
ability to use your Devil Trigger as a means to stop time and slash wildly at
enemies who can do little but stay still as they are chopped into pieces.

DOPPELGANGER - The final style is unlocked not surprisingly after defeating
the Doppelganger. With this you can go into Devil Trigger and use R1 + Circle
to spawn an image of yourself to help fight. This image can actually be
controlled by a second controller, plug it in and try it out yourself.

| | -------o-------- Lesser Demons |
|_/ (00301) ------------------------------------------------------o

1st HELL: PRIDE - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the
sin of Pride. Sand is the medium he uses to materialize in the Human world.
He carries a giant sickle to judge his prey.

2nd HELL: ENVY - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the sin
of Envy. Differs from other jailors in the fact that he materializes via a
fluid which severely limits his movement.

3rd HELL: WRATH - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the
sin of Wrath. He materializes via sand. The massive bomb he carries often
obliterates both friend and foe.

4th HELL: SLOTH - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the
sin of Sloth. His body is made of sand which he uses to quickly teleport to
any nearby location.

5th HELL: GREED - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the
sin of Greed. He is another sand-based hellkeeper. He uses his beloved
coffin to call upon his disciples for help.

6th HELL: GLUTTONY - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the
sin of Gluttony. He is sand-based like other hellkeepers. He fires a high
powered sand mist damaging his foes.

7th HELL: LUST - Netherworld jailor who governs souls sent to hell for the sin
of Lust. Sand-based jailor who leads confused sheep to hell with his amazing
speed and deadly sickle.

7 HELLS - Netherworld jailors who are referred to as hellkeepers. They exist
to punish their sinner flock but have recently been called to the Human world
to hunt even the innocent.

ABYSS - Lives at the deepest level of the netherworld. During times of war,
this highly ranking demon knows only victory. His magic-imbued sickle has
eneded many a hero's life.

HELL VANGUARD - The god of death who manages dead souls. He is feared by even
inhabitants of the netherworld for his wicked nature and fighting prowess. A
deadly sand-based demon.

ENIGMA - Basically created from a stone statue. Given life via some unusual
high level magic incantation. This sex-legged demon targets foes from afar
with his magical bow.

GIGAPEDE - Giant create that made its way into the Human world through a rift
in the time-space fabric. Relentlessly strikes foes with a high voltage
attack.

BLOOD-GOYLE - Blood mixed with magically enchanted stone gave birth to this
wretched beast. Multiplies whenever hit by close ranged attacks. Its defense
mechanism is weak to modern-day weapons.

ARACHNE - Once the soul of a human female, the soul transformed when it
reached the outer crust of the netherworld. Uses her tightly spun spider
webbing to ensnare her victims.

DULLAHAN - The possessed husk of a knight's suit of armor. Its adamantine
shell makes it virtually impervious to frontal attack. Its only weakspot
being its hindquarters.

SOUL EATER - Spiritual remnants of the rage of murdered demons have pooled
together to create this beast. This creature paralyzes its prey before
feasting upon its soul.

THE FALLEN - A demon who fell from grace for lying and deceiving its victims.
Her beautiful wings close to form an invincible shield. Her open belly is her
only weakness.

DAMNED PAWN - Nethwerowld-crafted chess pieces. The pieces themselves move of
their own accord. The pawn, although weak in strength, is able to win battles
with sheer numbers.

DAMNED KNIGHT - Netherworld-crafter chess pieces. The pieces themselves move
of their own accord. The knight has great mobility and jumping ability, which
it uses to trample enemies.

DAMNED BISHOP - Netherworld-crafter chess pieces. The pieces themselves move
of their own accord. The bishop uses its fearsome magic power in the form of
a magic arrow to snipe foes.

DAMNED ROOK - Netherworld-crafter chess pieces. The pieces themselves move of
their own accord. The rook, in addition to having a high attack power, can
produce other chess pieces.

DAMNED QUEEN - Netherworld-crafter chess pieces. The pieces themselves move
of their own accord. The queen has both great mobility and power. She is
regarded as the strongest piece.

DAMNED KING - Netherworld-crafter chess pieces. The pieces themselves move of
their own accord. The king, and rightly so, controls all other pieces.
Defeat him and the others will fall.

DAMNED CHESSMEN - Netherworld-crafter chess pieces. Whether the idea of the
human version of chess came from these pieces or the other way around is
unknown.

| evil May Cry 3 /-------------------------------------------------------o
| | -------o-------- Lesser Demons |
|_/ (00302) ------------------------------------------------------o

CERBERUS - The 3-headed feral gatekeeper. Said to have the power to control
ice. He grants power to those worthy of it. Those unworthy, meet their doom
by his giant fangs.

AGNI - One of the Twin Demon gatekeepers. Agni has the power to control fire.
In essence a sword swung by demon host. Searching for an owner worthy of its
full power.

RUDRA - One of the Twin Demon gatekeepers. Rudra has the power to control
wind. In essence a sword swung by a demon host. Searching for an owner
worthy of its full power.

HEART OF LEVIATHAN - Heart of the great best Leviathan. The heart itself
should be considered its own entity. One that will protect itself at all
costs.

NEVAN - One of the demon gatekeepers sealed away by SParda. She seduces
humans down the dark path to hell. Attacks foes with a combination of
electricity and bats she controls.

BEOWULF - Gatekeeper sealed away by Sparda for 2000 years. He anxiously
awaits his chance at revenge. His overwhelming strength and light attacks
make him a force to fear.

GERYON - Once a horse of legend ridden by countless heroes, ingesting
demonsoul essence darkened his once bright soul. Has the ability to control
time on a limited scale.

DOPPELGANGER - Demon that takes the same shape of his foes. His ability is
produced by refracting light in various direction. Due to this, he is
essentially a demon composed of shadow.

VERGIL - Dante's half-man, half-demon twin brother. Wield's a keepsake sword
from his father but won't touch guns as he doesn't view them as weapons of a
true warrior.

VERGIL2 - Absorbing Beowulf's light power has given birth to a new stronger
Vergil. Now in addition to Vergil's amazing sword skill, he has mixed in some
new martial arts moves.

VERGIL3 - After obtaining the force edge, the symbol of Sparda, Vergil is
complete. The only way to compete with such an awesome foe is to believe in
oneself and one's weapons.

ARKHAM - Transformed into a gruesome beast after obtaining Sparda's power.
His form was not born of Sparda's inherited power, but rather from the
darkness that lies deep in his heart.

ARKHAM'S LEGIONS - A swarm of demons generated from Arkham's body. These non-
intelligent demons serve one purpose: to damage foes by exploding on impact
with them.

LADY - Female devil hunter that seems to block Dante's every move. With
little training and even less power, her most helpful weapon is her belief
that what she is doing is right.
