Chapter 0 - Hill 30 (Playable Intro) - D-Day +7
Just go ahead and start shooting at things. You can't die. This is simply a quick playable intro scene to get you into the game. Test out your various buttons and soon enough the action will end and the real game will start.
Chapter 1 - Rendezvous with Destiny - D-Day
You are now into the actual game. It is D-Day. Your plane has been hit and you have to jump out of the airplane. You land in the country side. Upon starting you get an objective.
Get to the nearest crossroad
Become familiar with your compass and follow the Yellow Arrow to the crossroad. On your way you'll learn to jump and crouch. Soon, you'll meet up with Mac (Sgt. Hassay). He'll give you a pistol. If you haven't yet messed with the "Options" menu, now would be the time to do so if anything is bothering you like Inverting the Y-Axis or adding crosshairs. If you want a more authentic experience, I'd recommend not adding the crosshairs (which I did my first time through). This time, however, I am playing with a crosshair, for ease.
Follow Mac. Take out the first two Germans you get to. Continue to follow Mac. If you lose him, just follow your Yellow Arrow. Soon you'll meet up with two other soldiers. That's it for the first Chapter.
Chapter 2 - Silence the Guns - D-Day
Take out the AA (anti-aircraft) guns
Follow Mac and Leggett using your Yellow Arrow. When you stop you'll get your "Situational Awareness" tutorial. See the section, "Situational Awareness" in the Introduction for more info.
When you get back to live action, Mac will ask that you fire on the two Germans to suppress them while he flanks them. You don't have a lot of bullets at this point, but go ahead and fire on the Germans and you'll see Mac go down the right side and fire on the Germans. This is simply to teach you the basics of suppress and flank. Go up to the dead Germans and take a K98 Rifle. Next, you'll have your chance to flank while Mac suppresses. Follow Leggett along the wall and around to the Germans. Using your K98 Rifle, take out the three Germans.
Follow Mac and Leggett to the next battle. You can flank these Germans by going along the left side of the stone building while Mac and Leggett are suppressing them. Next, follow Mac and Leggett to the AA guns. You'll take cover behind a wagon. Fire on the Germans. When they are dead, go up to the AA gun and you'll get a prompt to "Plant a Satchel Charge". Do so and runaway so you won't be near it when it explodes.
Follow your Yellow Arrow to Mac and Leggett. Take out the Germans behind the wall using your Rifle (remember, for a steadier aim, crouch) and then move into the stable through the open stall on the right. Kill the German in here, then head back outside using the open stall at the end and meet up with Mac and Leggett. Follow them and when Mac tells you to flank the enemy, head right (East), hop over the wall and approach the enemies from the side, using the truck for cover. Take out the enemies then plant a Satchel Charge on this AA gun. Take out any remaining Germans then meet up with Mac to end the mission.
Chapter 3 - Ambush at Exit 4 - D-Day
At the start of this mission, you'll be given a Fire Team that you are in control of (in this case, it's only Cpl. Hartsock). The Fire Team is very good at suppressing enemies. Read the tutorial that pops up and practice on the German Scarecrow. You'll learn about the "Move," "Attack," and "Assault" commands. Also, you'll learn about the Red/Gray Suppression Icon over enemy's heads. When you want your team to rejoin you, either press and hold the "Select Team Button" or push down on the D-Pad. Notice the "Fire Team" icon on your radar. This is how you'll keep track of your team.
Link up with 4th Infantry Division (ID) at the beachhead
Follow the Yellow Arrow along the dirt road. Soon, a few Germans will come out and set up behind a wall. Order your Fire Team (Hartsock) to suppress them, then go into the shed on the right and take out the Germans through one of the windows. Call Hartsock back to you then make your way NE (from the shed), past the house, then NW, following your Yellow Arrow. You'll see a few more Germans. Take cover behind the wagon and dead horse. Order Hartsock to fire on the enemies while you flank around to the right. Kill them then head on through the field and onto the dirt road where a German will come out and attack. Shoot him. Continue to follow the road (and your Yellow Arrow) and you'll soon see two Germans manning a mortar (small mobile artillery) with their backs to you. Take cover behind the truck and shoot them. Watch out for any grenades being tossed your way.
Continue along the road to the next half-wall battle area. Two German teams of two will take cover an open fire on you. Order Hartsock to suppress the team on the right while you pick off the team on the left. Be patient and wait for good shots. When you have your team killed, work your way down the left side of the area and flank the team that Hartsock is firing on.
Continue following the Yellow Arrow, through the stream (pretty water), and along the road where you'll meet up with two more allied soldiers. Follow your new-found friend through the swamp and take cover at the dirt wall where they are. Four German teams will emerge. Worry about the teams in front of you first. Order some suppression fire on them then make a break for the truck on the right and get on the right side of it for cover. From here you can easily take out the nearby Germans. Stay in this position and watch out for several more German teams of two coming in from the NE. When no more reinforcements are coming in, concentrate on the other enemies, behind the wagon and dead horse. Order suppression fire on them, then work your way behind them. If you run out of ammo for your Rifle either pick up a German Rifle or just use your pistol.
When all Germans are dead, follow the Yellow Arrow to Mac and go up to him. Leggett will wax philosophical and you'll get a nice view of Utah Beach. Mission over.
Chapter 4 - Objective XYZ - D-Day
To start this mission you'll still have Hartsock as the only member of your Fire Squad. At this point, the game is keeping it easy for you, only giving you one man to control. You'll eventually build up to two teams of three. For now, don't worry about it and just be happy that you have Hartsock. Also note that you have a Sub-Machine Gun as your secondary weapon, good for charging enemies and close range action.
Defeat the soldiers at the German barracks
Follow the Yellow Arrow to the fence in front of you. Have Hartsock remain here and order him to fire on the two Germans. You should head East, around the stone house, take out the German who comes at you, then flank and fire on the Germans that Hartsock is still firing on. If they move and take cover behind the far fence, well, just shoot them there.
Next, go out to the road and you'll be fired upon by a German MG (Machine Gun). You don't want to attack this area head on or you'll be quickly wiped out. Find the truck as a landmark. Make sure Hartsock is with you. Look across the road and you'll see a wooden field fence on the left and an opening to a path on your right, near the first red-roof building. Make a break (run like hell) to the path, thus crossing the road. Move forward, take cover behind the crates, and you can easily take out the two Germans hiding behind the overturned wagon.
Continue in a Westerly direction, staying on the South side of the red-roof buildings. Soon, you'll see some more Germans behind a half-wall and one up in a window above and to the right of the half-wall. Take cover behind the fence on the left and fire into the window and take out the German there. Then use Hartsock to fire suppressing rounds at the Germans behind the wall. With them suppressed, run to the house where the German was in the window, and go up the stairs. Fire down upon the two Germans behind the wall with your Sub-Machine Gun. Be careful not to get hit, though. When they are dead, go over to the North window where you can fire down upon the German manning the MG. Use your Rifle to take him out.
Run to the sandbag MG, and man the MG (follow the on-screen prompts). Kill the two Germans running across the road. Note, when manning MGs and Tank Mounted MGs, you can toggle in and out of 1st person/3rd person using the "Zoom" button (click down on right analog stick). Next, follow the Yellow Arrow to the large gray farmhouse and take cover behind the truck. Have Hartsock suppress some enemies while your run North, behind the farmhouse. Watch out for any Germans exiting the farmhouse, kill any that do exit, then enter the farmhouse through the first open door that you see and take out the German hiding behind the sandbags (his back will be to you). Exit back out to the back of the farmhouse and continue around it, going through the hay bail opening and killing the German there. From this hay bail area, fire on the two Germans behind the firewood. When this area is clear, call Hartsock to you and continue to follow the Yellow Arrow.
Run past the downed tree and take cover behind the fence where you will see more enemies in front of you. Have Hartsock suppress them. Take out the first two enemies behind the near half-wall, then move forward and take out the next two enemies near the two trees and overturned wagon.
Continue forward to the paddock area where you'll see the barracks off in the distance and about four Germans taking up positions behind the many half-walls. While Hartsock is suppressing them, go around the wall to the right and flank the first set of Germans. Continue along this right path and take out the next two Germans as well. Call Hartsock to you and enter the German barracks through the door on the left.
In the next room, a dining room, there are about three Germans. Toss a grenade in there or send in Hartsock using an Assault command. Exit to the outside courtyard area where you'll meet up with two more allied soldiers and battle the last of the Germans in this mission.
Watch as Germans start to emerge from the barracks. The Allied bazooka soldier will take out the gunner in the upper window. You just need to take cover and patiently fire on the enemies in the three lower windows and the other Germans who have come out. After the first wave you'll get a second wave and Mac and Leggett will join you. Again, just keep relatively covered and shoot the remaining Germans. If the last two are giving you trouble, you can flank them from the right. When it's all clear, meet up with Allen and Garnett (bazooka guys) to end your mission.
Chapter 5 - Foucarville Blockade - D-Day
This is your first mission with a full 3-man squad at your command. You have Hartsock, Allen, and Garnett. They all move as one team and they are your Fire Team, better at suppressing enemies than at assaulting enemies. Later, you'll also get an Assault Team. But, one thing at a time.
Secure the town of Foucarville
Go out to the intersection and face West. You'll see 4-6 Germans shooting at you from down the road. Stay along the left wall and make your way to the green pickup truck. Have your team shoot at any of the enemies and be aware of Germans coming out from the house on the left. While your team is suppressing, from the truck go left behind the house with the Germans. Shoot any enemies in the immediate back yard, then get ready to fight the next group taking up position a few back yards away from you. Call in your team and use them to suppress the enemies. You can flank around to the left, along the stream, going to the grassy area. Try to get to the wagon to the left of the Germans where you can take cover and pick them off one by one.
When the back yards are clear head along the stream and go up the bank on the right where you'll find two Germans who were previously hiding behind barrels on the main road. Kill them then kill the other two Germans near the bridge.
To the North is another Machine Gun nest (MG). Lining the road on the East is a row of houses. You can go through the back yards of these houses so that you can flank the MG from the right. So, face the first house and go through the stone wall on the right into the back yard. Work you way North, killing as you go. When you come to the dead end, look left and go into the opening in the house and into the courtyard where there will be two Germans to the North. Take them out, go by where they were, and to your West (left) you'll see the MG. Shoot the two Germans manning it.
Peek out onto the main road and look North. You'll see two more enemies hiding in the brush on the left side of the road and another Machine Gun nest on the main road. Look a tad South and notice the farmhouse across the road. Run there and take cover behind the dirt wall. There will be two Germans in front of you, behind some barrels. Have you team suppress them then take them out from the side or just wait for them to pop their heads up and patiently take them out. Either way, move up to the barrels and look out onto the road where you can now take out this second MG.
Head NE, crossing the road again, and go up the orchard. Take cover behind the dirt wall and have your team suppress the enemies to the North. Meanwhile, head East to the road and follow it (don't go up to the Church yet) so that you come in from behind the enemies. Shoot them from behind. When the orchard is clear, head up to the Church and clear each graveyard on either side.
Next, you'll have to defend the Church using the MG at the NW corner of the Church, out on the road. Head there, man the MG and keep in mind you can toggle between 1st/3rd person. You should probably remain in 1st person if you don't have crosshairs enabled or in the 3rd person if you do. Scan the fence-line back and forth, killing the onslaught of Germans. When no more are coming, disengage the MG. If any did manage to make it by just pick them off one by one.
You have to take out the German mortars. Follow your Yellow Arrow to the field. At this point you'll see the red circles indicating enemies. Run toward them, then veer off to the left and flank them from that side. There are two sets of three enemies. Simply bring your team with you and shoot them from behind the dirt wall, or charge them or toss a grenade their way.
When the mortars are cleared out go meet with Mac (back on the road to the North of the Church) to end your mission.
Chapter 6 - Rommel's Asparagus - D-Day
Rommel's Asparagus refers to the wooden poles that Rommel's men set up in the field. The poles were meant to prevent Allied gliders from landing in the fields as the poles would tear up the wings. It's your job to blow up each and every wooden pole.
Destroy Eastern Field Poles
In this mission there is no set limit of enemies...they'll just keep coming until you blow up all of the poles. There's really no advantage in picking off enemies that you don't need to. It's better to just go quickly from pole to pole. With that being said, you do need to take out the MG nests.
From the start, head South to the irrigation ditch/dirt path and go West, working your way around to the opening to the field. To the NE is the MG. Go into the field and follow the water-filled ditch to the East. Follow it until you reach some barrels and crates near the MG. From this position, take out the MG soldiers.
It's time to take out the second MG. Follow the water ditch back to where you entered and this time, head West, following the water ditch ALL THE WAY TO THE END. At the end, you can flank the MG from the left. With these two MGs taken out, it's a pretty safe proposition to start taking out the poles. Do keep in mind, however, that reinforcements will continue to come so you may have to shoot anybody who is bothering you and keep an eye out to make sure nobody re-mans either MG.
There are nine poles that you need to destroy in this field. Go up to each one and follow the on-screen prompt to "Plant a Satchel Charge". When all the poles are destroyed a glider will crash land near you (this is actually the 2nd glider to crash land, so don't get confused if you saw the first one, too). Go up to it and take out any Germans in the area.
Destroy Western Field Poles
From the crashed glider, head South into the dry irrigation ditch and follow it all the way to the end. Here you will find a truck and one German. Take him out, then use the truck for cover as you kill the three enemies near the AA gun, a grenade or two can come in handy here. Use suppression fire if needed. Place a Satchel Charge near the AA gun before you move on.
From the AA gun, head to the gate to the West. Use the open part of the gate as cover as you look to the East and find the two Germans manning the MG near the sandbags. You are now generally clear to go ahead and start blowing up poles. If anybody is bothering you, kill them or have your Fire Team lay down some suppression fire. There are also nine poles in this field: six between you and the crashed glider and three past the glider. If the two Germans behind the sandbags on the knoll are giving you trouble, take them out to get to the last three poles.
Finally, kill off any remaining Germans in the area and go up to the glider that successfully landed to end your mission.
3. Chapters 7-12
Chapter 7 - Action at Vierville - D-Day +1
This your first mission where you will be in command of a tank. In this case, it's a light tank, the M5. You also have your Fire Team consisting of Hartsock, Garnett, and Allen.
Clear the Town of Vierville
Call in your team and head West along the main road until you see some Germans to your right. Take cover behind the wall and wait while the M45 Tank comes in and blows them away. You have found the Tank. Go up to it. Read the tutorial that pops up. You control the Tank just like you would your Fire Team. You can take cover behind the tank and you can also man the turret Machine Gun on the tank by going to the back of the tank. Be aware that you can switch between 1st/3rd person when manning the turret gun. The M5 Tank is vulnerable to enemy tanks and German Panzerfausts (rocket launchers). When it comes to enemy tanks, usually you can go to the back of one and you'll be prompted to throw a grenade inside. This is how you can easily destroy enemy tanks, in most cases.
The other thing to note here is that you are now in control of two teams. You can use your D-Pad to control them or you can use the "Select Unit" button to switch between teams, holding it to call them to you.
Back to the game...head back to the main road and go all the way back down it, following your yellow arrow. Go behind the far house on the right and follow your Yellow Arrow to find a German or two hiding behind a truck. Fire on the position to take him out. Move forward and fire on the next set of Germans behind the crates. Make sure your Tank is involved and it will eventually fire its cannon on the position and blow them away.
Continue following your Yellow Arrow, taking out Germans as you go. Soon, you'll get to a half-wall with a Church in the distance. You'll have three groups of enemies to kill. They won't be a problem if you use both your Fire Team and your Tank to fire on them. When you see one group get killed, refocus your suppression fire on the remaining enemies.
Continue to follow the Yellow Arrow, just outside the Church find the anti-tank cannon and place a Satchel Charge on it just as a precaution. Then, head North to the sandbag position where you'll find a few more Germans. Focus your fire on them and take them out.
At this point there will be a German Tank to the West. Command your Tank to get the heck out of the area, hide your Fire Team somewhere safe, then run around to the back of the tank and at the back, look for the on-screen prompt to "Place explosive in Tank". Do so, and then run away from the Tank. This will destroy the enemy tank. Your Tank is now safe. Call it back to you.
Use your Tank to suppress the next German team to the West then take your Fire Team up the main road and circle in behind the Germans that your Tank is firing upon. When they are dead you'll be told to defend the Church.
Defend the Church
Run back to the Church and position yourself on East side of the Church. Many enemies will come charging. The big problem is that there is a new enemy Tank approaching on the main road. Have your Tank and your Fire Team fire on the oncoming Germans while you hunt down the enemy tank. Again, run up behind it, wait for the on-screen prompt and place an explosive inside the enemy Tank. Finish off any other Germans then meet up with your Tank to end the mission.
Chapter 8 - Dead Man's Corner - D-Day +1
Clear Dead Man's Corner
You start this mission in command of your M5 Tank and your Fire Team. Move SW down the main road. Soon you'll see two German teams ahead of you. One will cross the road. Have you Tank fire on each of their positions, thus blowing them up. Move forward and you'll see two more teams set up on the left side of the road. Have your Tank fire on one German team while your Fire Team suppresses the other. When your Tank destroys one team, refocus it on the other. Continue down the main road and look to the East to find another group of Germans. Position your Tank so that it has a clear shot and have it attack the position.
At this point, your tank is vulnerable because there is an Anti-Tank cannon up ahead. Move your Tank to a safe place behind you and forget about it for a while. Go forward up the road a tad bit more and find the East dirt path that leads to a field with lots of Germans and many dirt walls. Bring your Fire Team with you and have them suppress while you flank. Continue to take out the various teams using suppression while you flank around to the East. Eventually, you'll have this East field cleared and you'll end up at the MG sandbag nest. Call your Fire Team to you.
Across the road is the Anti-Tank cannon and another MG nest. Leave your Fire Team behind the safety of the sandbags and cross the road and toss a grenade or fire upon the two Germans near the Anti-Tank cannon. Don't go up to the cannon yet because you'll be fodder for that last MG nest. Your tank is now safe because you killed the men manning the Anti-Tank gun, so go ahead and call your Tank to you and have it fire on the MG nest. Also have your Fire Team fire on the MG. Then, flank around from the back and kill the German manning the MG if he hasn't already been killed.
At this point you have to break through the downed-tree roadblock if facing SW on the road. Highlight your Tank and give it a "Move" command, placing the circle right on the roadblock, so that it runs right through the roadblock. Now on the other side of the roadblock. have your Tank "Assault" the MG nest on the right, then go to it and hang a right. From behind the nearby truck, have you and your teams fire on the many Germans. Avoid taking your Tank up the main road as there is an Anti-Tank cannon there. After a few of the closer teams have been destroyed, have your Tank keep firing on the Germans in the distance while you and your Fire Team move forward, taking out the next MG nest. While keeping your Tank back, call up your Fire Team, and have them take cover behind the sandbags where the MG nest is. From here, have your Fire Team suppress the Anti-Tank gun to the left (on the road) and then attack it and kill the Germans manning it and place a Satchel Charge to destroy it.
Rejoin your Fire Team at the Sandbags and call in your Tank, you may have to actually order a "Move" order to get it near you...it'll probably take the main road. Anyway, once everybody is together move forward and take out the three Germans behind the dirt wall then any other Germans in the area.
Head back out to the main road and continue following your Arrow (SW). You'll get to some supply crates where you can stock up on ammo. You'll soon get to another tree roadblock. Again, order a "Move" order so that the Tank breaks through. After the short cutscene hop onto the back of the Tank and man the turret MG. Fire on the oncoming Germans. Unfortunately, the Tank driver will be killed. Keep shooting any enemies that you can. When you can't reach any more, hop off the tank and have you and your team kill off the Germans to the left of the Tank.
When they're dead, go to the intersection and take out the remaining enemies to the left and to the right. When all enemies are dead, meet up with Mac (by the Tank) to end the mission.
Chapter 9 - The Crack of Dawn - D-Day +2
Go up to Mac and talk to him to get the mission going. This is the first time that you'll be in control of two teams: a Fire Team (upside down "T") and an Assault Team (Arrow). The Fire Team is better at suppressing enemies while the Assault team is better at attacking enemies. Basically, you'll be using both teams to suppress enemies with the occasional Assault. In general, use your Fire Team for longer range suppression and your Assault team for closer range suppression.
Clear the road to St. Come-du-Mont
From the start, follow your Yellow Arrow then go left behind the first stone house and take out the Germans in the back yard. Move through the back yards into the orchard and shoot from the side the Germans behind the overturned wagon and horse. Cross the road and look South to make sure you didn't miss any Germans. If so, kill them. Anyway, cross the road heading East and go to the fence line. Then, move North and start taking out the various Germans behind the dirt walls. After the first couple of enemies you'll get to an AA gun. There are four German around the AA gun. Toss a grenade or two near the area then pick off any remaining Germans.
From the AA gun, with both Teams, head West, cross the road and take up position behind the half-wall. From here you'll see a MG on the second floor of the house firing down on you, a team of Germans coming from the left and one from the right. Have you Fire Team suppress fire on the MG and have your Assault Team suppress the team coming from the left (they are actually pretty close to you). Meanwhile, peek out the right side of the wall where there are some barrels and fire on the two Germans hiding behind the overturned wagon in the distance. When they're killed go back and help your Assault Team clear out the enemies on the left. When all you have left is the MG concentrate both Team's fire on it, then flank it from the left and kill the MG gunner and the other German soldier.
Defend the Outpost until Mac arrives
At the house, leave both of your Teams downstairs. They'll automatically fire on anybody coming from this side. You should go upstairs to the MG and man it. From here, shoot any Germans that you can. If they stop coming out of the field check on your guys down below because they may be having problems or have been killed. When they're all dead, meet with Mac outside the house to end your mission.
Chapter 10 - The Fall of St. Come - D-Day +2
Clear the SW quadrant of St. Come-du-Mont
To start you'll have two Teams of Germans firing on you. Have each of your Teams fire on each of the German teams while you go up the right wall and flank the first team. Then, have your Fire Team continue to suppress the second German team while you call in your Assault team to you. Take out the second German team however you want.
From here, follow your Yellow Arrow to the North where you encounter a MG nest. Suppress the nest and flank around the left side through the paddock. Then shoot the two Germans in the sandbags past the MG. Follow your Arrow to the next battle where you will have to kill some enemies in the upper level of the barn. First, take out the three Germans in the upper level then the lower level.
Go through the now cleared barn and meet up with Mac and Leggett. Mac tells you that there is a German Tank heading your way and that you need to stop it. First, however, some Germans will come into this area. Have your two teams suppress the two German teams on the right then you should patiently shoot the left side team when their heads pop up. After that, flank around to the left, around the building and go into the stalls area where the other two teams are located and shoot them from the side.
Follow your Arrow to the next courtyard where there will be more Germans and that tank that Mac was talking about. At the West side of this courtyard are some supply crates where you will find a Panzerfaust (rocket launcher). First, however, take out the Germans on the ground from the protection of the stalls and watch out for tank fire. Watch out for more Germans coming from the left alleyway. When the ground troops are killed and all you have left is the tank, stash your Teams somewhere safe, then go to the supply crates and grab a Panzerfaust. Do be aware for one last German coming from the left heading to the supply crates.
Staying crouched, use the Panzerfaust to fire on the tank. You only get one shot per Panzerfaust but you can keep going back to the supply crates to grab another. Stay crouched, poke out, take your shot on the tank, strafe back and grab another Panzerfaust, repeat until the tank is destroyed. This will take about five shots. When the tank is destroyed meet up with Mac to end the mission.
Chapter 11 - Buying the Farm - D-Day +3
To start this mission you'll be in command of an Assault Team and a M4A1 Sherman, a more powerful Tank than the M5 you used earlier.
Capture the farmhouse
Leave your Assault Team where they are. Look North and move North a bit and you'll see some enemies running up the path. Send your Sherman Tank down the path and have it Assault the enemies on the left. From where the enemies were, look out over the orchard where there are several groups of enemies. Issue a "Move" command for your Tank and place the circle in the middle of that orchard. The Tank will drive around the outside of the orchard and then come in from behind. All you have to do is keep covered and wait for the Tank to do its thing. The Tank will clear the orchard. Every so often you'll find that the tank driver may take some damage or your guys will act on their own for some reason. It's rare, but it happens. Just restart from "Checkpoint" and try again. When the orchard is clear, get your Assault Team with you and run NW to the Tank.
Leave your Assault Team here and bring the Tank with you onto the road and hang a left. Run between the overturned wagon and the wall and crouch behind the wall. There is an MG at the corner of the tiered wall (you'll take it out in a minute) and one around the corner. If you ran fast enough to this position, the corner MG shouldn't have shot at you. It is now. Stay down. Make sure the Tank is near you. At this point, don't stand up. Stay crouched. Slowly turn the corner and find the MG nest in the distance on the left of the road. Quickly issue an "Assault" order for the Tank, take cover behind the wall, and wait as it drives there and takes out the MG.
When the road MG is destroyed, stay crouched and work your way down the wall, toward and past the Tank, until you get to a break in the wall. Still crouched, go past the opening in the wall and turn the corner to the right and go up this road a tad. You'll get a checkpoint, phew! OK, now if you die, you'll start from here.
Call your Tank to you on this sloped road and watch out for Germans coming down the road at you. Kill them and send your Tank up into the Courtyard where it will take out the many Germans there. If your Tank gets destroyed (happens every once in a while) you'll just restart from nearby anyway. While your Tank is clearing the courtyard, head East between the building and the wall and shoot the German manning the corner MG from earlier, if indeed there is a German still there.
Rejoin the courtyard battle and help out where you can. Note that there are two Germans in the upstairs of the barn. Go up there and use your Sub-Machine Gun to kill them. When everybody is dead you will have captured the farmhouse.
Kill the German mortar team
Grab both your Assault Team and your Tank and follow your Yellow Arrow. You have to get to the German mortar team. They are firing on the field in front of you. The best way to get to them is to sprint there and hope you don't get hit, it's rare that you do. With everybody, start running ESE along the dirt path. When you see the red icons appear showing you where they are, have both of your teams fire on them. This will cause them to become suppressed. Meanwhile, continue South (basically staying along the right side) and flank them. Kill them with a Grenade or by picking them off one by one. Do this fairly quickly or the enemy Tank, yes you did just run by a Tank, may find you. Go to the mortar.
To complete this mission you still need to take out the Tank and the remaining three Germans. First, deal with the Tank. Use an "Assault" order for your Tank to come and kill the enemy Tank. Meanwhile, if the three Germans are near you, use your Assault Team to help you kill them. If the three Germans are still in hiding, wait for your Tank to destroy the enemy Tank and then hunt down the last three Germans using your Tank so you don't get hurt. To end the mission, find Leggett, follow the Yellow Arrow. Kind of a gruesome scene.
Chapter 12 - Alternate Route - D-Day +3
Again, you have the Sherman Tank and your Assault Team. To start out you have a new gun, a Machine Gun, along with your normal Sub-Machine Gun.
Destroy the bridge to Carentan
Move forward with both teams and take cover behind the right half-wall. Use your teams to fire on the enemies. When they're dead move forward and locate the enemy Tank on the other side of the graveyard. Immediately issue an "Assault" command for your Tank to attack the enemy Tank (or if you want you can run to the back left of the enemy tank and drop an explosive in). Meanwhile, Germans will come out and take position in front of the tank. Use an "Assault" order to command your team to suppress them. When the enemy Tank is destroyed, flank the remaining Germans behind the wall and take them out.
Regroup, cross the RR tracks, and have your Tank attack the enemies across the broken bridge. Then, look to the NNE (follow your Arrow) to find an Anti-Tank gun. Quickly fire on it to suppress it then order your Tank to attack it. Continue to follow the Arrow to the train yard with the overturned train cars. Use your Tank from various positions to take many of them out and you and your Assault Team can clean up the rest.
Continue on and you'll soon see an enemy Tank on your left. Order you Tank to "Assault" it then move you and your Assault Team to the water tower (or if you want you can run to the back left of the enemy tank and drop an explosive in). From here you'll see some enemies to the NNW along the wall. Take cover. When the enemy Tank is destroyed, send it to attack the enemies on the wall.
At this point you have to make it across the RR bridge to the North. At the end of the bridge, on the right is a MG nest, on the left is an Anti-Tank gun and the plunger you need to blow up the bridge. First, however, check out the train station to the East. Go through and kill the two Germans on the damn. Regroup and slowly make your way onto the bridge. Stay behind the train car on the left and have your Tank fire suppressing fire on the MG nest at the end of the bridge on the right (make sure to not move your Tank any further or the Anti-Tank gun will get it). Also have your Assault Team fire on the MG nest. Meanwhile, move to the left of the train car and get ready for any Germans that may charge. Next, check to see that the MG nest is suppressed by the Tank. Then, give your Assault Team an "Assault" order to charge the MG nest. Fire on the Anti-Tank gun to provide extra cover. One or two of your guys may die but usually one will succeed in killing the MG gunner.
Finally, all you have to do is kill the last two enemies behind the Anti-Tank gun. Go ahead an order another "Assault" with your remaining men and then go there and clean up anybody that's left. If you don't want to get close, use some Grenades. When all enemies are dead, go to where the Anti-Tank gun is located and find the Plunger. Press it to blow the bridge and end the mission.
4. Chapters 13-18
Chapter 13 - Purple Heart Lane - D-Day +4
This is your first time with a Sniper Rifle. You zoom in the same way you do with a normal gun, click down on the right analog stick. Remember to crouch for a more steady shot. You are also in command of two teams: Assault and Fire.
Advance to Bridge 4 on the causeway
Follow your Arrow to the half-walls overlooking the swamp, where all of your men are located. There are two groups of enemies firing on you. Use your Sniper Rifle to pick them off. When it's clear, follow the Arrow into the swamp and be on the lookout for a few more Germans hiding on the left, behind a dirt wall. Keep following the Arrow and you'll soon see more enemies coming from the WSW. Take cover behind the dirt wall and pick off these enemies behind the fence. Continue to follow the Arrow, going under the bridge and meeting up with more Allied troops.
At this point you need to make it all the way down the causeway (roadway). Gather your men to you. Between the road and the swamp there are several large brush-covered dirt mounds that you can take cover behind. The German reinforcements will keep coming, so you can't shoot everybody. First, snipe any Germans that you see from a safe position. Then, have your men fire on anybody else that you see. Next, run like heck to the first brush-covered dirt mound and take cover. Again, peek out and pick off any Germans that you see. Repeat this as you head down the road. You don't need to shoot everybody, just enough of them so that you can make it to the end of the road. When you get to the end, near the gate, you'll get a cutscene and you'll be told that you have to take out a MG position.
First, however, there are more regular Germans to kill before you can go through the gate. Leave your men behind, you don't need them for this section and they'll just die anyway. Head West, down the small hill, and to the North you'll see two sets of Germans in the distance. Pick all of them off. Next, look to the SW and you'll see a set of Germans on the right and the MG on the left. Stay crouched behind the rocks and pick off the two non-MG Germans. To take out the MG, you're going to flank it. If you're at the rocks, facing West, look to the NNW and run to the large tree. From the tree head West along the fence line and follow the irrigation ditch to the sandbags where the MG is located. Shoot the German manning the gun, then head back to the gate to end your mission.
Chapter 14 - Cole's Charge - D-Day +5
Follow the Yellow Arrow to Lt. Colonel Cole and the rest of the gang. Cole will brief you on the assault on the farmhouse and that you'll use artillery smoke as cover. You're back to having a normal Rifle and you're still in command of the two teams.
Capture the Ingouf Farmhouse
Follow your arrow and make your way to the hay bails in front of the small mound/hill. At the hill, go left as far as you can and take out the two Germans behind the dirt wall. Flank them from the left if necessary. Follow the fence line heading West so that you can flank more enemies, including the MG. After taking out the MG from the dirt wall near the fence line, head to the hay bails to the West where you'll see the Farmhouse. From the hay bails, have your two Teams fire on the two German teams while you head to the left, taking cover behind the brush and picking off anybody in the barn.
Go into the barn and call your Teams to you. If you still have one enemy left to kill, it's probably the other MG gunner. Keep your Teams in the barn and head to the MG gunner and you can find a dirt wall behind the gunner where you can attack him. After he's dead, meet up with Lt. Colonel Cole, near the barn.
Secure the area behind the farmhouse
The gate near Lt. Colonel Cole will open after the cutscene. Grab your men together and enter the paddock where there are many stone half-walls. Watch as the Germans come in and start shooting them. You can easily have each of your Teams fire on each of the enemy teams and then flank them from the right by crouching and moving along the wall. After the first two sets of enemies are killed, move forward and take up position behind the next half-wall. Again, have your Teams suppress the enemies while you move along the right side and take up position behind the wall there. From here you can shoot at the first set of enemies from the side. They may move, but just keep moving forward and picking them off when their heads pop up. Also, be aware of reinforcements setting up behind the fence line to the South. There are three of them. Stay behind your wall and pick them off, too.
When they're all dead, follow your Yellow Arrow (crossing the road) and you'll see three more groups of enemies. Have your men set up behind the dirt wall and have them fire on the left two groups of enemies. Then, make a run for the left group of enemies (to the North), running to the downed tree near the pit in the ground. From here, take out the enemies to the East then kill the guys to the North.
Go to where the North enemies were and from here you can safely shoot the men manning the MG from behind the dirt wall. When the MG is gone, call your men to you. Follow the Arrow, heading along the path and you'll see some enemies to the NE, across the pond, and several more enemies directly to your right. First, kill the enemies to your right, the ones hiding behind the barrels and firewood. Then, run there with your team and use it for cover as you and your Teams fire on the enemies across the pond, now to the North of you.
To the East you'll see one more red enemy icon. This is the MG on the road. Follow your Arrow to it, and you'll end up behind it, where you can easily kill this last enemy. Afterwards, meet up with Mac to end the mission.
Chapter 15 - Ripe Pickings - D-Day +5
You have to help Lt. Combs and bring him back in a "Saving Private Ryan" kind of mission. You only have your Fire Team as Mac needs your Assault Team. You have your normal Rifle and your Sub-Machine Gun.
Find and rescue Combs
Take your men and follow your Arrow through the gate and half-wall field that you went through earlier. When you get to the road head SSW (the only direction you can go). When you get to the orchard wall, head right (NW) and follow the wall all the way to the house. Go between the shed and the house and go to the barrels. Have your team fire on the enemies behind the wall while you shoot the two nearby Germans to the South. Then, continue looking South and fire on the Germans further away. Then, focus on the MG in the corner of the house on the second floor and fire on him to kill him. Next, fire on the enemies behind the wall that your Team is still firing on and kill them off.
Head to the house, following your Arrow. Keep heading past the house along the path. Soon, you'll see Lt. Cole in front of you firing on some enemies. Join him behind the dirt wall. From here, have your team fire on the enemies in front of you, then you can flank around right taking cover behind the wagon and barrels. Fire on the enemies from the side, then move out to the road and take out the enemies behind the wagon from just near the other enemies behind the dirt wall. Next, take out the enemies behind the dirt wall by charging them with your Sub-Machine Gun, tossing a grenade at them, or issuing an "Assault" order. Finally, you'll have a mortar team protected by sandbags. There are three Germans there. Toss a grenade in their direction then, if there are any survivors, pick them off. Or, if you want, issue an "Assault" order and have your troops take care of the enemies.
When everybody is dead, go back to Lt. Combs. He tells you that you need to go back through the orchard but there are more Germans. There are only two Teams of enemies, so just shoot them like normal. When they're dead, meet back up with Combs and head all the way back to the farmhouse and meet up with Mac. He'll tell you about a final assault on your position.
Defend the farmhouse
You now have control of both Teams and once again your battle will take place in this paddock with the many half-walls. No real strategy here. Just use suppression fire and flank to get good shots. If you want, you can use your Assault Team to "Assault" suppressed enemies. If you and your Teams run up to one of the middle walls you can easily order fire on the incoming enemies and most will be shot by your Teams. There are about 5-6 waves of enemies. When they're all dead, meet up with Mac back in the barn to end the mission.
Chapter 16 - Push Into Carentan - D-Day +6
You start out with both your Fire and Assault Team.
Secure the industrial region of Carentan
Leave your teams where they are or else they'll be gunned down by the MG when you cross the road. Run SSE, across the "T" intersection, and enter the yard of the house on the other side of the road. Head West between the wall and the house and get your Sub-Machine Gun ready. Run to the area where there's a dead Allied soldier and the wooden crate you can hide behind and kill the enemies manning the MG from behind. Try to stay crouched because there are enemies across the road, behind the stone fence. When the two MG gunners are dead, pick up the US BAR Machine Gun as a replacement for the Sub-Machine Gun near the dead Allied Soldier and then use your Rifle to pick off the enemies across the road behind the fence. Alternatively, you could take out the guys behind the fence first, then the MG gunners. Next, call your Teams to you.
Follow your Arrow into the industrial half-wall area and you'll see a group of enemies to the South. Have your Fire Team suppress them. Then, take your Assault Team with you and find the enemies to the West. Have your Assault Team suppress these enemies. Then, pick off the enemies until they're dead.
Regather your Teams and head back out to the main road, kill the two enemies across the road (behind the stone fence), then locate the next two groups of enemies to the South. Take cover behind the wall and have each of your Teams fire on each of the enemy Teams. Meanwhile, head to the Truck, and then to the shed, so you can flank them. From this position you can also fire at another group of enemies. When they are dead, call both Teams to you, by the shed. Then, run toward the silos.
You'll see a tank. From the silos run directly East to the tarp-covered crates. Enemies will charge you. Have your teams fire on them. You'll probably die but you just got a checkpoint, so it won't be that bad. When the charging enemies are dead, hide your teams between the two sets of tarp-covered crates and find the Panzerfausts near the shed, just NW of the tarp-covered crates.
Grab a Panzerfaust and use the shed for cover as you shoot rockets at the enemy tank. Keep in mind you'll have to aim up quite a bit, to account for gravity. Once you get the hang of it you'll get in the pattern of grabbing a Panzerfaust, hiding behind the shed, poking out to fire on the Tank, grabbing another and repeat. It'll take about 5 hits or so.
When the tank is destroyed, immediately grab another Panzerfaust and turn around and find another enemy tank. This one is closer and therefore easier to destroy. Move your men behind the crates so that they remain safe. Then, again, take Panzerfaust after Panzerfaust to destroy this tank. Next, locate the few remaining Germans down the road to the North. When they're all cleared out you'll get a message to clear the German warehouse.
Clear the German warehouse
Follow your Arrow to the sandbag area where there are three more Germans. Mac and Leggett will come in and help you kill them. NOTE: if you do die at this checkpoint you'll start out not holding a gun. A little weird, but just hit your "Switch Weapons" button to pull it out. Anyway, when this first set of Germans is dead, meet with Mac (Sgt. Hassay) at the door of the warehouse.
This part is pretty tough and you'll probably lose a few good men. Enter with both of your Teams and as soon as you see enemies have them fire on the enemies. Meanwhile, head into the warehouse and stick to the left wall. Take out the three enemies behind the crates at the back of the warehouse and stay crouched. Next, look South and kill any more enemies through the windows. When they're dead, slowly make your way outside to the crate behind the truck. From the crate, run like hell to the East and take cover behind the crates. There are three enemies just past these crates. Face them and peek out to the left and pick off the enemies.
Next, head toward the building where the MG is located. Go up the small stairs and stick to the left wall. As soon as you can see into the building, still against the left wall, shoot the enemy that you can barely see. Then, slowly turn the corner and look inside the building. There will be two enemies behind the crates at the back of the room. Kill them, then go left and kill the other two enemies. If you want, and if the MG isn't active, you can call in your Teams and have them "Assault" both of these enemy positions instead. Then, make your way through the rest of this warehouse, killing as you go.
You'll notice that you can't get to the other MG from this area. Instead, go back outside, sneak up on the MG from the side of it, kill the man manning it, then head to the small staircase to the West and enter the warehouse again. Now you are on the other side. Kill any remaining Germans and then meet with Mac to end the mission.
Chapter 17 - Tom and Jerry - D-Day +6
In this mission you'll be primarily sniping enemies from the upper and lower roof of the Church. Later you will be using a Bazooka on three tanks. Note that you do have two Teams on the ground at your command. You begin with the Sniper Rifle and your Normal Rifle.
Defend Carentan from counter-attack
From the Start, look South down the main road and start picking off oncoming Germans. Crouch to steady your shot. After you kill about four of them, Mac will tell you to cover the West side. Go West and look out to the West. Find the gray stone alley. There will be Germans running along it. Pick them off. Look back South a bit and find any remaining enemies. Next, Mac will tell you to cover the East. Do so. After that just go from lookout to lookout finding enemies to snipe. After you clear them Mac and Leggett will tell you to go downstairs, to the lower roof.
Go all the way down the stairs and start sniping any enemies below. For good cover, crouch and use the gaps in the walls to fire. You may run out of Sniper ammo. If that's the case you can fare well enough with your normal Rifle. Note that you have men below that you can command if you like. Keep shooting enemies until there are no more.
Leggett tells you that the Bazooka is on the North side of the Church and that you need it to destroy the three oncoming tanks. Slowly make your way East and get your Rifle ready. The wooden door will open and you'll have to kill three Germans. Do so and then find the Bazooka along the railing on the left. Unlike the Panzerfaust, you don't need to account for gravity as the Bazooka is a rocket and goes pretty much where it's aimed. Grab the Bazooka.
From the Bazooka, look NW and find the enemy tank. Fire on it repeatedly, crouching and taking cover between shots. If you run out of ammo you'll automatically switch to your other weapon. Re-equip your Bazooka and go to the crate where you got the Bazooka and you can restock your ammo. You'll be dying a lot here. The tank is mean and if it gets a good shot in on you, well, it's all over. The best way I found to avoid this is to crouch and move back between shots.
When the first tank blows up, restock your Ammo and head to the SE corner and look out SE and wait for the other enemy tank to drive in. Destroy this one the same way. Finally, locate the final tank and destroy it. The mission will end when the third tank is destroyed.
Chapter 18 - No Better Spot to Die - D-Day +7
Sound familiar? You've finally caught up with that intro mission you played so long ago. This is your last mission and it is tough, so get ready.
Defend Hill 30
Grab your Fire Team and go up to the road and hide behind the downed tree and have the Fire Team suppress the first enemy you see on the left. Then, grab your Assault Team and go out on the road and turn right (NE) and go up the path along the side of the field. You'll be flanking two Germans to your left. Kill them then go to their position, behind the rock. Have your Assault Team fire on the enemies to the South, if your Fire Team hasn't already killed them. When this group is dead have your Assault Team suppress the next group of enemies to the right. Then, have your Fire Team suppress the enemies on the left. Meanwhile, crouch and work your way along the rocks to the last rock. From here you can fire on both positions. Be patient and kill them all. If you manage to take out the right side first, go there and call your Assault Team with you then have everybody fire on the left position. OK, two more groups to take out.
You'll see two more groups of enemies a little further forward; one to the left and one to the right. Have each Team fire on one of them. You should then head West, along the right side and flank the enemies on the right. Be very careful when you do this as these enemies will kill you quickly if you go in there too fast. Make sure they are suppressed (gray) and then slowly round the corner and lay into them with your Sub-Machine Gun. From this position, head South and flank the final group of enemies using the dirt wall near them for cover. Or, if you like, you can have both of your Teams "Assault" this final position.
When the field is clear, follow your Arrow and you'll hear Mac calling you. Find him and then play through this sort of dream-like section, the section you played through all that time ago in the intro mission. You can't be hurt so just stand up and fire on the enemies for fun. Basically you're just waiting for the enemy Tank to fire on you.
Link up with the 2nd Armored Division
When you finally reawake, Mac will tell you that you need to go find some Allied Tanks. Follow your Arrow along the road and kill the single oncoming German. Now run like heck along the road and when the road forks, take cover behind the trees/brush in front of you and kill the enemies behind the fallen tree, up the hill a tad. After those two are dead, continue following your Arrow. If and when you see an enemy Tank at the next fork in the road, hide until it passes. Then, run up onto the hill between the roads, going between the rocks. On the left is an enemy behind a rock. Charge him and shoot him. Continue forward in this field and take out the German in front of you, near the MG.
Man the MG and mow down the three Germans running from right to left (every once in a while, the enemy Tank will be in the area, if that happens it'll probably kill you, just retry). Continue following the arrow (pay no attention to the Tank on the left) and stay along the right side. Soon, you'll see a bridge in front of you with the 2nd AD (tanks) on it. Your job at this point is to run as fast as you can to the area under the bridge and crouch behind the first fallen tree. Whatever you do, don't get up. Just wait here. Don't even peek out. The Tanks will do their thing and will destroy any nearby enemies. It may take a few minutes so just be patient. You'll know your safe when you receive command of both Tanks.
You are now in command of two Sherman Tanks. You need to make it back to Hill 30 with the Tanks. Remember all of those forks in the road? Well, they're perfect for sending one tank to one side and one tank to the other. That's the basic plan. So, from your fallen tree position, issue a "Move" command and send one tank down the left road and one down the right road. Your two Tanks will engage the enemy tank in the area. If your tanks aren't attacking issue an "Assault" order on the enemy tank. Meanwhile, you can move through the middle, via the field between the roads.
Next, you'll encounter a MG nest. Issue an "Assault" order for each of your Tanks and they'll pound it. Here you'll find another fork in the road. Again, send one tank along the right and one along the left. You can go up the middle making sure your tanks didn't pull any stupid moves and need to be re-ordered. Your two Tanks will engage the enemy tank here. When this tank is destroyed you'll have one more to deal with. This time, don't worry about sending your Tanks down different paths, just have them both do a full on frontal assault of this third enemy tank.
When the third tank is destroyed move your Tanks toward Hill 30 and when they get there, have them "Assault" the various enemy positions while you stay covered. When the Tanks have destroyed all of the enemies on the hill go meet up with Mac to end the mission...and the game.
Chapter 19 - Victory in Carentan - D-Day +8
Mac is proud. Yay!
Chapter 20 - Beyond Hill 30 - D-Day +9
That's it. Credits roll.
