Retro Game Walkthroughs for SOCOM 3 : US Navy Seals (PlayStation 2)

A quick guide to getting started on Socom 3: US Navy Seals on the Playstation 2.
Most of this guide will focus on of the offline missions, online play is too varied to give good advice when playing other than learn the maps and find a selection of weapons that you can use well.
CONTROLS
Move Character - Left Analog Stick
Aim Weapon/Look - Right Analog Stick
Change Position (Prone, Crouch, Stand) - Triangle
Jump - Square
Dive - Run + Triangle (Firmly)
Peek Around Corner - Directional Buttons (Left/Right)

POINTERS
A few pointers for the offline game that should help keep you alive.
Use your team members as much as possible – you can afford to loose a couple of them but if you die then you need to restart from your last checkpoint.
Get to know the commands for your team mates, the quicker you can tell them to fire at will and clear a room the better.
If you want to unlock the IW-80A and STG for online play you need to complete the game 3 times.
A shot to the head is usually always a guaranteed kill. So if you can switch to single fire and zoom in on your target and take them out from a distance.
Stealth is quite important at times, try used silenced weapons where possible.
MISSION 1
When you start get into the jeep and order your team to fire at will. Tell bravo to move to charlie and drive towards charlie. There are two armed trucks driving around so try kill them on your way to charlie.
When you get towards charlie get out of the jeep and move up the hill to charlie and talk to the guy.
Then head back down the hill and get in the jeep, order your team to mount up and move to delta.
When you get to delta park at the side of the road, order your team to dismount and then get on the gun on top of the jeep. Then when the trucks come take them out with the mounted machine gun. Take out the next set of trucks to and then get your team to mount up.
Head towards echo, your team mate will tell you that you should leave the vehicles so get out and head towards the river. Bravo team will then stay hidden in an overwatch position. Best to order your team to hold fire and try and sneak round to the right of the building as there is a back way into the enemy camp. You need to be quick, jump over the wall quickly killing any enemy soldiers you see, head left through the doorway and kill the enemy near the radio and destroy the radio – that should stop extra enemy soldiers heading your way. Then go back outside and kill the remaining enemy soldiers in the camp.
Regroup and order your team to follow and get into your jeep and move on towards the next checkpoint. When you get there you'll need to leave your jeep at the bottom of the hill and proceed on foot – there is a back way up the hill half way up so take that and surprise the enemy from behind. Kill all of the enemy at the radio tower and then plant a satchel on the radio tower before heading back towards your jeep. Get in the jeep and move towards the next checkpoint. On the way your likely to meet more enemy soldiers in vehicles but you can drive past them. When you get to the checkpoint get out and go talk to the leader.
MISSION 2
Head towards charlie, as you round the bend you will see two enemy soldiers ahead. Switch to single fire more, go prone and pick them of from a distance. As you proceed past them a chopper will be shot down, you need to make your way towards the crash site. Order your team to fire at will and try take out the enemy units heading towards the crash site. Once you've killed them escort the pilot back across the stream and then move on.
Head towards the next checkpoint. Your team will point out that there is an enemy machine gun in the area. It should be up on the hill on your right. Again a single shot to the head should take out the guy on the gun, take out the second guy who takes the gun position and then move on. You'll then be told that there is enemy armour in the area, you should see a tank up over the hill ahead. Instead of taking it on head the the left and down past the side of the building area. You'll see a firefight ahead – you want to take out the guys closest to the building as the other guys are friendlies. Once you kill the soldiers guarding the entrance head into the town area.
Proceed through the town area killing the enemy soldiers – watch out as there are a few friendlies along the way for you to try save. When you reach the supply depot a cut scene will kick in showing some enemy soldiers mounting some machine guns. You should be able to pick them off quickly and any other enemies near by. Then it is just a case of planting the satchel in the depot and heading back through the town.
Head back towards where the tank is and use the designator to highlight it as a target – just equip the designator and press and hold R1 when it appears red over the target. After about 5 seconds a jet will come in and destroy the tank.
Head towards the bridge and kill the enemy soldiers at the gun nest on the hill on the left, then plant another satchel on the bridge to complete the mission.
MISSION 3
This mission is in the dark, if you press up on the d-pad you can switch to night vision mode. If you have the thermal sight equipped on your gun then pressing up again will enter thermal scope view. Order your team to fire at will and proceed towards the first checkpoint. If you are spotted here an alarm will go off and more enemy units will proceed to your position so be careful. Take out the two enemy units in the road ahead and then proceed though the gate – there is another enemy soldier in the hut on the right near the alarm so take him out quickly and quietly. Then continue on.
You will be told that there is a ground to air missile launcher in the area that you need to take out. It is on the left hand side of the road - you'll hear it firing when you are near by. Take out the enemy units in the area near to it. Use your AT4 to destroy the ZSU. Proceed onwards to the checkpoint, take out the enemy units around the launcher and then open the missile case and then plant some c4 on the control panel to the missile launcher to destroy it.
The rest of this level is just as simple, head towards the checkpoints killing the enemy units on the way and then plant c4 on the missile launchers.
MISSION 4
Your first objective is to defend the North position. You'll see some friendly soldiers already in place. Order bravo to hold position at one side of the defence wall and move to the other side and use one of the mounted machine guns. Order your team to fire at will and then take out the enemy units that move towards you. BE CAREFUL as some sneak in behind so use your radar to identify when you might be in a bit more danger.
Keep doing this, at one point a tank may come along so just use the designator to paint it as a target to be destroyed.
Once you have defended the north position you'll then move on to defend the central position. This one is a bit easier, just take out the enemy units heading from the ruins area ahead. Once you've done this you'll then move on to the South position.
This one is a bit harder as enemy units try sneak past both sides. There is also a tank to take out so order your team to get down when that appears.
Once completed head back towards the central position. Your new objective is to secure an area for a vehicle to come in and extract. Head towards the ruins area and take out all the enemies you can. Try be quick as there is a tank in here to destroy using the designator – the quicker you can do this then the less chance it will destroy the vehicle there to extract you.
MISSION 5
The first objective is to rescue the civilian. It is very straight forward as there is only really one path you can follow through the town area to reach her. Order your team to fire at will and follow and proceed to the civilians position taking out any enemy's you encounter along the way. When you reach the civilian restrain her and then order bravo to escort.
Outside the building more enemies will run to your position so take them out, watch out for the one directly on your right when you leave the building.
Head towards the checkpoint with the civilian to get her extracted.
Your next objective is to capture general Mahmood, as you head towards the next checkpoint on the map you'll reach a market square. There are a couple of enemies on the right behind one of the stalls and a couple more up the stairs. Using the thermals and single shot you should be able to kill a few of them with headshots from a distance.
As you proceed through the buildings your objective will change as Mahmood escapes in his chopper. When you reach Kilo you need to use the designator on the tank. Take out the other enemies in the area and proceed to the checkpoint. Once inside the building you will be close to Sarwat's position, there are a number of enemy soldiers guarding his position so take them out quickly and chase after Sarwat. DON'T shoot him. Instead throw a few flash grenades at him until he decides to give up. If you don't have flash grenades equipped try a few shots to his feet and run around him to try force him to give up. Once he gives up restrain him.
Thats it for the first part. That should be more than enough to get you started and help you get the hang of how the game plays and what you need to do for each mission to succeed.
