Retro Game Walkthroughs for No One Lives Forever (PC Games)
Submitted By: Little Hobbo
I have compiled this list of all the bosses you will come across
in the game. Hopefully this will make things easier when you
come to face them.

This walkthrough was created by me, Adam Shirley, for Special
Reserve and it's customers. Please use this walkthrough for
personal use only, if you wish to copy it elsewhere please

Forever, please contact me at [email protected]. I hope
you find this walkthrough helpful.

INGE
As bosses go Inge isn't all that hard really. You start facing
her, the music is blaring from a nearby radio and HARM gang
members are on the rooftops around you ready to riddle you with
holes.
Make sure you keep your distance from Inge because she is one
mean lady with her sword. Thankfully she runs very slowly so
you should be able to keep a reasonable distance from her. She
is also bullet-proof, so don't bother wasting your ammo on her
as she won't be harmed by anything you've got.

To hurt Inge you have to use the red switch on the far left
wall. This electrocutes the puddle of water on the floor and
will take a chunk off her life if she is on the water. The
trick is how to get Inge on the water. This is done by simply
switching off her radio, and since she can't do without her
inspiring music she will ignore you for a moment until the radio
is back on. To switch it on she has to run over the puddle of
water, so that is your chance to hit the red switch. The
location of the red switch is sheltered from the shooting gang
members as opposed to the radio which is in open view. So stay
at the switch most of the time until you have to turn the radio
on, at which point you sprint it there and back as quickly as
possible. Do this enough times and you will defeat her.

NOTE: The two HARM gang members shooting you from the rooftop
are infinite, so if you shoot them they'll respawn a few seconds
later. Hence I really wouldn't bother wasting my time or ammo
on them. They will naturally hurt you a bit, but if your armour
is running too low there is a spare armour pack along the wall
from the switch.

NOTE: Inge's singing isn't particularly great, but the gang
members hate it even more than you. When Inge stops to let fly
with her monstrous voice they will not shoot at you due to their
shock. This makes an ideal opportunity to break for cover and
turn the radio off.

ARMSTRONG
Armstrong is a tough character and has quite a few good moves,
so this will probably require many reloads to complete.

Firstly I'll discuss his ranged attacks. The most common one is
where he will bang his fist on the floor, and the shockwave will
reach any part of the room and cause damage to anything it
encounters. To avoid this one just jump the instant before he
hits the ground, and the shockwave will pass right underneath
you. The other ranged attack which is far more deadly and
harder to avoid, is the grenade he throws at you. You will have
to be really alert and the second he reaches back to throw at
you, run TOWARDS him. This is important; you will only usually
escape unscathed if you run towards him, not away from him.
Also move to one side as well as running away and you should
survive with minimal damage if at all.

His other attacks are punches and come in three varieties;
light, medium and strong. Naturally the strongest punch does
the most damage and the lightest the least. The type of punch
he does will be determined by how close you are when he starts
punching. If you are near him then he'll go for a strong punch,
and these will be lighter the further away you are. To avoid
any punch you just have to double back out of his swipe radius,
and this isn't too hard as a rule because he is quite slow.

To actually defeat him will require you to punch him a lot,
because you have no weapons. So run into him fairly close and
throw a punch when you are at your nearest and on your way out
again. If you time this right you will hit and damage him, but
he will be too slow to punch you back. Practice this and you
will get used to it. Since he is so tough you will require many
punches before you win, but persevere and he will submit
eventually.

NOTE: He generally only uses his dangerous ranged attacks when
he can't reach you with his punches, so if you stay fairly close
to him at all times you should be fairly safe from them.

NOTE: If you can't get the hang of how to punch him then run
into the adjoining room where you were formerly imprisoned and
jump onto one of the beds. He will follow you into the room but
can't reach you on the bed so you can take your time to whittle
his health away. Only use this as a last resort though, it's
not half as satisfying as beating him by fair means.

VOLKOV
You start this fight at the other side of the small glacial
valley from Volkov but you have no weapons and he does. He will
instantly start shooting at you so grab the armour to your right
and head left straight away. You will need hop quickly over the
small icy bridge as it falls very swiftly, and then head on up
the hill. Don't ever stop moving otherwise Volkov will get a
clear shot at you. At the top of the incline you will find a
gun and some armour. Grab the gun gratefully, but don't get the
armour just yet unless your current armour is gone, because you
may need it later.
Now leap behind the nearby giant icicle as it affords you much
needed cover from Volkov's shooting. This now allows you to
crawl out at your leisure and shoot back at him. His routines
are regular, he will shoot from one position, run to another,
and then keep running between the two. Since he is at quite a
distance, keep your crosshair trained on just one of his
locations, even if he moves. As soon as you hit him, then keep
your crosshair firmly glued to that spot. Then let fly when he
returns there and you'll have a couple of guaranteed shots on
target every time. Keep that up for a while, keeping still even
if he hits you, and you'll soon defeat him. Make use of the
armour if you feel the need.

NOTE: Volkov will find it a lot harder to hit you if you are
crouching.

BARONESS DUMAS
The second the cutscene ends, let loose a couple of shots at her
head and you'll defeat her. This need take only one or two
seconds, but do it before she hurts you first.

TOM GOODMAN
Tom can be very dangerous, especially as he shoots cyanide
bullets as opposed to the ordinary kind. The good news is that
he is the last fight you will have before the ending sequence,
so it doesn't matter if you lose most of your health in
defeating him. Your first priority should be to get as far away
from him as possible, he won't follow you so you can pick any
gravestone for cover that you choose. Once there crouch down,
inch out of cover until you can see him, and then take shots.
He will do the same sort of thing as Volkov, diving out from
behind gravestones to shoot at you, and using the same spots to
shoot from. So once again choose where to aim and hold your
crosshair in that position. His health will take a long time to
deplete, but just be patient and keep popping away at him. Due
to your distance he will very rarely manage to get a shot on
target, so health shouldn't really be an issue. When you
finally defeat him you can sit back and watch the ending
sequence. Enjoy!!

NOTE: There is ammo and armour scattered about the graveyard,
so scout around if you are in need.

Hope you found this boss walkthrough helpful, I'm sure you'll
agree that the bosses can be quite hard, especially on the
higher difficulty levels. If you have any further troubles with
the bosses or indeed the rest of the game then please feel free
to mail me at the above address and I'll be happy to answer your
questions. If you've completed the game and are feeling bored
then fear not, NOLF 2 awaits. :-) Adios!
