Retro Game Walkthroughs for Singstar (PlayStation 2)
Submitted By: AliBoy
A walkthrough to a game like singstar may seem a little odd but there is quite a lot to this game that some folk may not quite realise.

Lets start with the main points, the game detects the pitch, tone and rhthym of your voice when you sing, it dosn't matter what words you sing so any random sound you make (as long as it fits in with the tune of the song) will bump up your points. Great for when you don't really know all the words to certain songs.

Its all about fun, so putting your opponent off and making a fool of yourself are main points in the multiplayer mode.

The songs on offer to sing are:

Liberty X - Just a little
Mis-Teeq - Scandalous
The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love
A-Ha - Take on me
Pink - Get the party started
Jamelia - Superstar
Motorhead - Ace of spades
George Michael - Careless whisper
Avril Lavigne - Complicated
Petula Clark - Downtown
Sophie Ellis Bextor - Murder on the dancefloor
Daniel Bedingfield - If your not the one
Carl Douglas - Kung fu fighting
Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up
Westlife - World of our own
Ricky Martin - Livin la vida loca
Lemar - 50:50
Madonna - like a virgin
Roy Orbison - Oh Pretty woman
S club - Don't stop movin
Deee-Lite - Groove is in the heart
Sugababes - round round
Elvis - Suspicious minds
Busted - Crashed the wedding
Village people - YMCA
Good Charlotte - Girls and boys
Blondie - heart of glass
Dido - thank you
Atomic Kitten - Eternal flame
Blue - One love

All the songs contain the full videos too.
You can either sing all the songs fully or you can sing a shorter version of each song if you are just looking for a quicker way to play through each game.

There are various modes of play. The single player game features a quick sing, freestyle and star maker modes. Quick sing lets you get straight into things and pick the song you want to sing and see how well you can perform. Freestyle mode is very similar except you are not scored on how well (or bad) you do.

Starmaker though is what makes playing on your own a little better, here you must travel around venues and perform to attempt to build up a reputation as a decent singer. A challenge for those of us who are not very good in the music department. You go to the various locations and sing as best you can and earn points depending on how well you do, more points the quicker you move up the ranks and to the better venues. Simple. Obviously learning each song and how they need to be sung comes in handy here to reach the top.

This game is all about mulitplayer modes though, much more fun when there are more of you to have a laugh and sing your hearts out. There are a few different mulitiplayer modes, duet sees you sing songs are different parts, best of 3 sees you both sing at the same time to see who is the best and pass the mic sees you take turns to battle it out.

Points are awarded on how well what you sing matches the song. There is a bar which increases the better you do and once you fill this bar you are awarded more points for the better you do.

After singing a song you can replay it or listen to your performance and add some nice special effects such as more reverb or make yourself sound like a small high pitched child.
Those who own an eye-toy will be glad to know you can plug it in and record folk singing too. There is also the ability to save the best perfomances on your memory card or hard disk.

So there you have it. Pic up the mic, sing your heart out and have fun.
