[LVD01] INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, it’s time for another guide by freeola’s hippyman. This guide is on the game based on the popular TV series LOST. I’m going to be perfectly honest with you – I have never watched the series, so wasn’t sure about the hype and I guess the game is really aimed for the show’s fans. I struggle a little to understand some points, but I’m not sure if that is down to the game confusing you (apparently it is after speaking to some LOST fans that have completed the game) or just because I don’t know the story.

But one thing I will say is…I’m going to be buying the DVD box sets to find out more about this story!

About the guide, it is written primarily for the 360 version as it contains details about achievements and points. I believe the game is the same for the other formats so the guide will work for them, but just ignore the guidance on how to obtain the achievements.

Finally, for some reason format of Microsoft Word is slightly different to the coding on the freeola submission page. I’m not sure what coding it doesn’t like but if any punctuation is wrong, missing or replaced by several characters I apologise in advance. Hopefully you will understand what I mean from it.

[LVD02] HISTORY

I always like to give a little history bit on my connection to the game I am writing a walkthrough for. My connection to this game is that I had knowledge that this game had an “easy” thousand GamerScore points available (when I say “easy” I mean that all 1000 points are available by playing through the game and doing some simple side quests). I eventually got around to buying this game over choosing CSI: Hard Evidence as it was on offer (see my walkthrough here on freeola for another easy 1000 GamerScore points. Sat sealed for a while before I started to play it and now deeply involved in the game (nearly completed it at time of writing this section).

[LVD03] GAME BASICS

All I will say is read the manual – all very self-explanatory and if you’ve played any Xbox 360 game before, basically you’ll get to grips right away. The only thing I will say is if you see something flash on screen, there is usually something you can do with it. Keep eyes peeled for coconuts, papayas, water bottles, fuses amongst other pick-ups to trade for other items.

Lets get on with the game walkthrough.

[LVD04] EPISODE 1: CRASH SURVIVOR

When you wake up, take a few moments to take stock of your surroundings and practice moving you character around. Look around for a woman – Kate – and then press A to speak to her. This will trigger a flashback. This is where you can unlock an achievement, 815.

To do this, you need to find all memories in this flashback. Take a picture of Kate receiving a bottle of water. Get it close enough and in focus before taking it. Then, before talking to the air stewardess, examine the magazines to your left, where photos are also available to examine. Also check the backpack at your feet. This will unlock the 815 achievement and award you 20 points to you GamerScore. Talk to the stewardess to return to the game.

Once back in the jungle, speak to Kate again. She will give you advice on where to go – i.e. following the dog. Hold on to the right trigger to run and keep up and cal him to slow down every now and again. This will eventually take you the beach.

At the beach make sure you stay well away from the plane engines (else you’ll be scared to death and die). Now find Jack. He is busy giving CPR to another survivor. He will ask you to fix the fuel leak to prevent the plane exploding. This will enable you to perform the SAVE THE CASTAWAYS achievement.

Head to the back of the plane (near the overturned wheelchair) and where Locke is scrambling about. This will enter the fuse mini-game. Unfortunately I cannot display the solution to this one, but fiddle around with the fuses and when the light goes green, you’re done. It’s mainly trial and error, but this is a simple one. Once done, you will have completed the achievement and gained 15 GamerScore points.

Finally, head to the left hand side of the beach (left hand side when your back is to the ocean). There will be a backpack nearby. Examine the backpack to complete the episode. On completion of the episode, you will unlock the achievement CRASH SURVIVOR and gain 25 GamerScore points.

[LVD05] EPISODE 2: LOCATE THE COCKPIT

When this episode starts, you recap the previous episode and see a small cut-scene. Kate will suggest that your camera may be in the cockpit of the plane. However, if you try to enter the jungle from the beach Jack will stop you. Once you have spoken to Jack, Lisa will appear at the beach, along the shoreline. Speak to her and she will trigger the flashback, wherein you can unlock the SWEET MEMORY achievement.

In this flashback, you need a picture of Lisa with the fisherman. Wait until she places her hand on her hip before snapping. Look for and examine the recorder and the newspaper on the left and the diary on the right. This will unlock the SWEET MEMORY achievement and bag you 20 GamerScore points. When you are done, speak to Lisa.

Head on back to Jack and you will trick him, just like Lisa did in the flashback. Once you have gotten into the jungle, speak to Locke. He will talk about the banyan trees and how they will protect you from the Black Smoke monster. Now, follow the trail through the jungle. This is done by clicking on the wreckage and choosing to find the next piece of wreckage. If you encounter the Black Smoke, use the banyan trees to hide until it passes. Usually it ignores you, unless you both collide – in which you die. Keep following the wreckage, past the guy that shoots at you. Keep going and reach the next area.

There will be a small cut-scene and you can see the terrible smoke in action. You will soon come across Michael, whom is gathering wood. He will inform you that you will have to get through the caves to get to the cockpit. He will give you a lighter, but you will need to trade some items to be able to buy some torches. Best to buy 2 or 3 if you can afford it, although I managed to get through it with just the single torch.

When you get into the dark, light up your torch and make your way through the cave. Keep your eye on the floor and avoid any drops. If you get caught in some bats, press X and extinguish the torch to save its usage bar. Again, if you go through waterfalls, extinguish the torch first to make sure you don’t waste any of its usage. When you come across the polar bear, you are nearly out of the cave.

When out of the cave, head to the back of the aeroplane and head up to the cockpit. You will see two fuse panels. You need to enter the broken one and pick up some of the fuses. Use the fuses on the working fuse panel and solve the problem. Once the puzzle is solved, pick up your camera from the now unlocked cupboard and leave the back of the plane to end episode 2.

Ending this episode will unlock the LOCATE THE COCKPIT achievement and award you with a nice 25 points for your GamerScore.

[LVD06] EPISODE 3: VIA DOMUS

You will now need to talk to Sayid. Your laptop needs batteries and Sayid suggests you talk to Locke for some. You will get into a little debate with him as he thinks you don’t need them, as you should go for a fresh start. This will now trigger a flashback, which will enable you to do the BEHIND THE GLASS achievement.

To complete this flashback, take a picture of Lisa with the sign Rico’s Shop above her. Whilst you are there, examine the note and the recorder on the desk and the article on the boxes to the left of the desk. This will unlock the BEHIND THE GLASS achievement and award you with 20 GamerScore points.

You will now need to speak to Locke again. With the information you have just gained, you can blackmail him into helping you. This will also unlock the BLACKMAILER achievement and you will gain another 15 GamerScore points.

Locke will tell you to follow him into the jungle and he will then tell you to follow the markers he has put on the trees for you. The man with gun is still here, so try and avoid getting shot. Once you have found the last marker, you will enter a new area and discover The Hatch. Before continuing the story and talking to Locke, look around the rim of the hatch and you will find some numbers. Take a photograph of these numbers and you will unlock the 4 8 15 16 23 42 achievement worth 15 points.

Now, speak with Locke and ask him about the battery. He will get you to follow him again. Before you do, go back to the previous area (to the hatch) and photograph a beam of light coming out from the hatch. This will unlock the BEAM OF LIGHT achievement for 20 points. Go back to the area you have just come from and follow Locke. Eventually you will come across some more caves. If needs be, trade for a few more torches. You will need some. If you can afford it, but the oil can as they last slightly longer.

Enter the caves and follow Lisa. Whilst walking in the caves, make sure you keep an eye on the floor, as there will be lots of fatal drops to avoid. In due course you will come across a ledge to jump down. Do so and watch the cut-scene. You will now finish Episode 3. Completing this episode will unlock the VIA DOMUS achievement worth 50 points.

[LVD07] EPISODE 4: INTO THE HATCH

The first thing to do when starting this level is to do the achievement, CASTAWAYS’ TREASURE. This is done by finding Kate and taking a picture of her plane. Then find Charlie and take a photograph of his guitar. Head off into the tree line and find Locke’s wheelchair. Take a photo of it and the achievement will unlock and it is worth 10 points.

The next thing to do is to unlock the MEDICAL STATION achievement. Examining the following things in order does this:

The number 4 (on the suitcase in a house on the right hand side of the beach)
The number 8 (right hand side of the beach, written in shells)
The number 15 (left hand side of the beach on a piece of plane wreckage)
The number 16 (left hand side of the beach on a crate under some netting)
The number 23 (find Hurley and the number is on the food card)
The number 42 (on the domino box next to Charlie)

This will ask you if you would like to warp to the MEDICAL STATION. Say yes and it will take you there. Go down the stairs and take a photograph of the logo. This will cause the achievement to unlock for 20 points. Whilst down here grab some of the chocolate bars as they have a high trade value.

Head to the hatch. A bit further on from there is the Swan station. Sayid is here and you need to speak with him. As you make your way into the jungle, you will need to use your compass and follow the directions on the sheets of paper. The difficult task of navigating does get harder as there is somebody with a gun out here. Try not to get shot.

Eventually, you will come across Desmond. Have a chat with him and then move onto the Swan station. Sayid is standing near the entrance. He won’t let you pass until you can tell him your name and not only that; you need a name that matches a name on the passenger manifest.

You will now learn your name. Go back to the beach and have a chat with Hurley, which will trigger a flashback. In this flashback, you have to take a photograph of the folder on the glass counter in front of you. Whilst in the flashback, examine the folder you photographed, a recorder on the shelf behind you and a letter on the shelves behind the shelf with the recorder. Doing this will cause you to remember your name and unlock the IDENTITY CRISIS for a nice 30 points.

Go back to the Swan station and speak with Sayid to be let in. You will have to do the Button Pusher achievement after opening the door. To open the door, you have to do another fuse puzzle. Once the door is open, go to the computer in the middle of the room and enter the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 then press RT on the controller (helps if you have a messenger kit). This will unlock the BUTTON PUSHER achievement and award you with 15 GamerScore points.

Now, fix the other fuse panels that are lying around. There are plenty of fuses lying around the station. Whilst in here you can take a photo of the bloodstain above the lava lamp, which will unlock the RADZINSKY achievement, worth 15 points. In here is also a bookshelf with the book A TURN OF THE SCREW. Take a photograph of it to unlock the achievement namesake and earn 10 GamerScore points.

Now the fuse panels have been fixed, go back to the computer and it will ask you to enter the way home, to which you enter VIA DOMUS and then press RT. You will need to turn on the UV lights. A quick IQ test will appear on the screen. Enter the answers 63 and L when requested and press RT after each. Open the doors and look for two maps that are on the back of the doors (they fluoresce making it easy to see). Take a photo for each and this will put you 2/3’s of the way through another achievement, to be completed in Episode 6.

Open the third door and Jack and Sayid will come in. This will end the episode with a cut-scene and unlock the achievement INTO THE HATCH and award you 75 points. Isn’t the plot getting interesting?

[LVD08] EPISODE 5: BEHIND THE WALL

When you start, equip the lighter and speak to Kate. This will trigger a flashback.

In this flashback, head towards Lisa but hold back before getting too close as you don’t want her seeing you, and take a photograph of her laptop screen. If she sees you she will close it, but she will open it again soon after. Before speaking to her, examine the folder and the letter by her laptop and then go to the table to the left of the bodyguard to examine the recorder upon it. Once this is done, you will unlock the PERSEPHONE achievement for 30 points.

Now, once let out of the cell, do the PAST OF SESMOND achievement. This is done by taking a photo of the grey jumpsuit by the washing machines, the medical cabinet in the main room and a picture of the mural. This unlocks the achievement for 10 points. Once this achievement has been unlocked, make your way out of the hatch.

Outside of the hatch move forward and go through the waterfall in front of you. Follow the way through and then examine the door at the end of it. To proceed, you will have to go to the beach and talk to Hurley. He suggests going to the Black Rock to get some dynamite. Before heading into the jungle to reach the Black Rock, speak to sawyer on the beach and buy a gun, preferably with some extra ammo. Now enter the jungle.

In the jungle, there are some markers that will indicate the way through. Unfortunately this will be the second toughest part of the game, so be warned. You need to get to the next area without being killed by the Black Smoke monster. This is easier said than done and I’m making sure I don’t make it sound easy. Use the banyan trees to hide away from the smoke and slowly navigate through to the next area. Look out for a van in the jungle as well, taking a picture of it will unlock the DHARMA RIDE achievement and award 15 points. Just be careful of the smoke… Good Luck.

Once through the jungle, hide behind the biggest of the rocks and shoot the man out of the tree. Follow the track towards the ship and enter it. Take a picture of the skeleton (it flashes) and it will unlock the SLAVE achievement for 15 points. Pick up the dynamite and head back to the jungle again, but walk instead of run. This is where the hardest part of the game is. You have to make your way back to the Swan Station without running – and you’ve guessed it – the smoke is still here. Be slow and methodical. Take your time and think before you move. Watch the smoke and determine any pattern to its movement. Eventually you’ll get back and never have to really face it in this way again.

Once out of the Dark Territory, go back to the waterfall and up to the door. Place the dynamite near the door, stand back and shoot it. This will cause it to explode and break down the door. Find the computer inside and answer the questions – the three answers being 8, R and 493. Select to neutralise the reactor and this will complete the level, unlocking the achievement BEHIND THE WALL along with a rather nice 100 GamerScore points.

[LVD09] EPISODE 6: THROUGH THE FLAME

This episode is one of the shortest and possibly one of the easiest. Begin running away from the smoke by holding down RT and using the A button to slide and Y button to jump. This is an interesting bit that will time your reflexes, as well as your ability to spot low hanging trees and hidden logs. Eventually, you will come across a large open area. Run towards the weird looking pillars (the sonar fence) and watch the cut scene.

Juliet will now come to talk to you and accuse you of being responsible for Lisa’s death. This will trigger another flashback, which will give you the chance to unlock another achievement. In the flashback, take a picture of both the bodyguard and Lisa. Make sure the gun is in focus and snap the image. Before continuing the game examine the diary on the desk near Lisa, the newspaper on the table to the left of the guard and also read the guest book. This unlocks 30 GamerScore points and the WHATEVER IT TAKES achievement.

Once back on the island, speak again with Juliet and convince her to let you through the sonar fence. Once you are through, turn right and run down the large hill. Head to the edge and somewhere on the hill will be something that will indicate that you have to pick it up. Once you pick it up, you will be transported to the hatch. Walk down the stairs and take a photograph of the Pearl Station logo. This will unlock 20 GamerScore Points and the PEARL STATION achievement.

Head back out of the Pearl Station and make your way back up the hill and through the jungle path to the Flames entrance. It is really dark inside, so if you have an oil lamp or several torches, they will come in handy here. Keep looking around for fuses as they will come in handy shortly and you can never really have too many of them. You will eventually come across a fuse panel. Finish the fuse puzzle and pick up the ammunition on the table. Work your way around the newly opened area and you will come across a room where Beady Eyes is holding Mikhail. Although tempting, do not open the door as you can finish of the MAPPING THE ISLAND achievement by taking a photograph of the map on the table. This will cause the achievement to unlock, providing of course you took a photo of the other two in the swan station earlier on. This achievement is worth 10 points.

Now go through the door and shot Beady eyes to complete the episode and unlock the THROUGH THE FLAME achievement for a hefty 125 points. There is only one more episode after this one. You have done well.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

[LVD10] EPISODE 7: THE WAY HOME

When you wake up speak to Lisa. Tom will appear on the other side of the glass. Speak with him and he will trigger another flashback. Walk through the open doors, head to the back and then to the left. Hide in this area and then take a photograph of Savo receiving Mittlewerk’s briefcase. Unfortunately there is no achievement for this. Once the flashback is over, talk with Tom again and he will let you have access to the Hydra Station.

All of your items have been confiscated, fuses included. Your aim now is to search every room for fuses and I think you have to collect them all to be able to pass this level. There is a room with a shark that has a device attached to it. You need to use the computer to raise the shark out of the tank and examine the device and retrieve three more fuses. At the computer, the answers to questions are “44”, “H” and “B” respectively. Use the fuses on the broken panel to open the door.

Once the door is open, go through and speak to Ben and Juliet. After they have finished talking to you, they will take you back to the beach. Once back here, talk to Jack and then make your way into the jungle and choose to jump to the Black Rock. Run up to the entry of the ship and Jack will give you a gun. Now go up several sets of stairs and you will see a few events unfold. Watch the flashback cut scene and when play resume, stand between Kate and the dynamite and then shoot the dynamite. This will unlock the HERO’S HERO achievement worth 25 points.

After all of the cut scenes that follow, you will talk to Juliet and she will give you your camera back. She tells you that you have two minutes to get down to a boat, but by the time she shuts up you only have a minute and a half. Run, jump and slide your way down to the jetty. There will be a small cut scene about halfway down, but it finishes quickly so be prepared to run again. Run down to the jetty and speak to Locke. He will talk for a bit before you can get on the boat and complete the game. Once on the boat you will unlock THE WAY HOME achievement for a big payload of 200 points.

Well done for completing LOST! Hopefully you now have 1000 points from the game and had a good time playing it. Watch the final cut scenes and be prepared to be a little confused!
