This guide will take you through each mission, providing you with a step by step path to follow if you wish. So take as little or as much as you want from it. Hope it helps :D Each mission follows the heading 'Story Missions'

Story Missions: Introduction

Venezuela

The game opens with a cut-scene introducing Mr. Salano and his right-hand man Blanco. Your first mission as a contract killer is to rescue the rebel General Carlos Carmona being held by the Venezuelan military (VZ).

This first mission is just a tutorial introducing the various weapons and vehicles you will be using throughout the game. For now, pilot your boat between the rocks, and land on the beach straight ahead.

Your area of exploration is very small in the beginning. If you go out of the area, you'll lose contact with Fiona and die.

You won't use the boat again, so don't worry about parking. After exiting the boat, you'll receive a message saying a helicopter is about to drop some supplies for you. Inside the supply crate is a grenade launcher. Once the shipment drops, four VZ troops will appear to the north. You'll need to take them out before moving on.

Pull the left trigger to zoom in on your enemies.

You're stocked with plenty of ammo, so after collecting your grenade launcher, just stay back and shoot them as they approach. And in case you have trouble finding them, each soldier will appear on your minimap as a yellow triangle. In fact, if you ever have trouble locating your objectives, pay attention to the minimap. Spots marked with a yellow triangle always indicate your next objective.

If necessary, take cover behind the rocks on the beach, and remember, crouching increases your accuracy. If you ever get low on health, take cover and wait for your energy meter to refill.

Your next task is to take out the gate that the four soldiers just came through. Bullets and grenades won't be enough to make a dent in this obstacle, so you'll have to call in an airstrike. As instructed onscreen, open and close your PDA, then follow the commands to issue an airstrike. First, you'll switch to a satellite view of the action to select your target. To zero in, press the button that flashes on screen as your radar blip passes over it. After that, take cover behind the nearby rocks until all the debris has fallen.

You probably won't get hurt, but it pays to be safe.

With the gate open, follow the path (the dashed yellow line on your minimap) to the left. Notice that your enemies, unless they are mission objectives, won't appear on your minimap. Proceed with caution. Along the way, you'll come across a gunner protected by sandbags. This is a good opportunity to practice your grenade tossing skills or to try out your recently acquired grenade launcher. Just be sure to take cover behind the nearby rocks.

It's always a good time for grenades.

At the waypoint, Fiona will inform you that you need a vehicle. Unfortunately, your radio seems to be broken, an you can't tell her about the jeeps in perfectly usable condition you passed along the way. To continue on, you'll have to get one airlifted in. Just like before, take out the soldiers at the drop point as indicated on your minmap. Use the nearby rocks or trees for cover if necessary.

The helicopter will drop a jeep that you can drive to the next waypoint. Hop in the driver's seat and follow the dirt road while ignoring the soldiers firing at you. Stay on the road, drive through the roadblocks in your way, and get to your next waypoint.

You'll come to another impassable gate guarded by two gun turrets. As soon as you get the message telling you to use an airstrike, take cover behind the rock ledge to the left of the road. This will keep you well out of the line of fire as well as providing the perfect spot to call in your second satellite airstrike.

Get used to button pressing minigames, you'll be doing it alot.

Pick your way through the wreckage for extra ammo and supplies, then head over to the tank waiting for you at the next waypoint.

Drive the tank further along the path, but don't bother sticking to the road. The tank handles hills well, and can knock down most trees, so just drive straight to your destination. Coming down the far side of the hill, you'll see a small village of makeshift shacks. Feel free to drive through with reckless abandon. At the bottom of the area is the complex holding the General.

The make this easy, stay back fire the tank's cannon at your enemies. Your most dangerous opponent will be a lone soldier holding a rocket launcher. He'll be standing on the pier's edge, so be sure to take him out first. Then keep firing at the building and remaining soldiers until the area is demolished and no one is shooting back.

This is what it should look like when you're done. You're the reverse Bob Villa.

Get out of the tank (the water is too deep to drive across) and walk over to the empty building to complete the mission.

Alternately, if you lose the tank before destroying the building, cross the water on the left side to sneak up and take out any opposition one by one. Near the river to the east is a crate containing a rocket launcher. Use it to blow open the building's gates. Or, if all else fails, just enter through the wide open back of the building.

Solano's Villa

Your next contract immediately follows the first. After being double-crossed by Solano and Blanco, you decide to take revenge. Your plan: take over his villa.

You start off by the side of the road with several cars and a motorcycle waiting to be taken. Grab a car for now, and turn right onto the road. The first waypoint is marked on your minimap.

Thankfully, everyone leaves their cars unlocked and the keys in the ignition in Venezuela

You'll take some fire along the way, but you won't need to stop for these enemies. However, you might want to upgrade to the enemy's more heavily armored jeep. If you see one on the road, stop your car in front of it, then circle around back to shoot the gunner and the driver.

You'll see a few of these types of items marked on your map. Ignore them for now, you'll gain the ability to collect them later.

From the road, you'll find the villa's driveway to the villa on your left. Drive between the barricades at the first gate and ram your way through the second set. Without a car, you'll have to fight your way in. Right outside the second closed gate, you'll find some C4 that you can use to blow open the main doors and get in.

You'll see a few of these types of items marked on your map. Ignore them for now, you'll gain the ability to collect them later.

Your next objective is to kill the five members of Solano's entourage. You can kill them on foot, but it's much easier to knock off the henchmen by running them over with a jeep. If you need a new vehicle, you'll find a jeep parked right outside the front door of the villa. The wheels also come in handy when navigating the villa's tall hedge walls, since you can just drive straight through them.

The entourage members are dressed in white suits, and they're marked on your minimap, so you shouldn't have any trouble taking them out. Just drive to each point on the map around the outside of the villa, and kill the goon waiting there. Also, be sure to pick up the stack of cash near each one for a little monetary boost.

Why all the cash? Maybe he was on his way to open a savings account

After all five are dead, you'll have to enter the villa. Return to the front of the building and enter through the front door. There shouldn't be any soldiers inside, so go to the door on our left. As you approach it, a tank will break through the wall. Walk up to the turret as it swings toward you, and push the action button to initiate a hijacking.

Tank treads are murder on ceramic floor tiles.

Stay in the tank as ten VZ guards storm the villa. Their bullets won't have much effect on your tank armor, so drive to the middle of the room and use the tank's canon to blow them up as the enter the room. They'll be entering from every door, so be sure to swivel the turret around and shoot each entrance.

Once all ten are toast, the mission will end, and the villa will be converted to your new base. Although you'll be able to explore a portion of the world more freely, you have more important things to take care of. Talk to Fiona for the chance to gain some weapons experience and extra cash by trying her challenges and to learn about your next assignment.

Story Missions: Universal Petroleum Pt.

With Salano's villa secured, it's time to find out where he's hiding. But you can't do it alone. Your fist ally is Universal Petroleum (UP), a spoof of the corrupt mega-company Halliburton.

Universal Petroleum
Location: PMC Headquarters

Fiona tells you that Solano's men stole a shipment of guns from UP. To earn UP's trust, you'll have to get them back.

You start out at the villa with Fiona's car, a pink Racing Inferno, parked in front of you. Take it for now, but ditch it once you've pulled out on the road for anything else. Fiona's car is fast and handy, but if it gets totaled, you have to pay $10.0 K to replace it.

As you pull out from the driveway, Fiona will teach you how to set a course for your objectives through your PDA. This feature will come in handy while navigating through unfamiliar streets, so make sure to become acquainted with it.

It's nice, but can you play games on it?

You'll find the shipment of guns in a truck near some crumbling shacks. There are only a few soldiers standing guard, so take out the guys blocking your way by driving over them. With no one in your way, get out of your vehicle and jump inside the truck. You don't have to worry about taking out every enemy here, since they don't have much firepower, and the truck will protect you from damage.

Don't worry, most missions won't force you to drive so carefully.

As you pull out of the tiny encampment, remember to set your PDA for the next objective. You won't need to stop for anything on your way to UP Headquarters, but if you take the turns too fast, you'll lose guns.

Also, be careful when you drive through the roadblock as you enter the city. You can pass safely through the center, but if you're going too fast, the jarring will send more of your cargo flying.

A paramilitary's defenses overrun by a pickup truck.

Beyond that, the rest is easy. Follow your PDA into the center of the city, and park in the glowing yellow circle. As long as you have cargo remaining, you'll pass the mission.

Not an alien landing zone. However, aliens might be in Mercs 3.

The Devastator
Location: UP Headquarters

Successfully delivering the guns isn't quite enough to earn UP's trust. Before you can get through the main gate, you'll need to do one more delivery. The UP soldiers need you to pick up a top secret vehicle called the Devastator and bring it back to HQ.

There's a small skirmish going on by the vehicle, but you can ignore it completely; they won't get in your way. Talk to the man in charge (as indicated on your minimap), and he'll point you in the direction of the "unique" vehicle.

So, why couldn't he just drive it over?

Right across from you, by the gas station, you'll see a large, powerful-looking tank. This is not the Devastor.

Why is this sitting here unmanned when a skirmish has broken out right down the block?

Walk around the tank. This is the Devastator.

It could be worse . . .

The UP soldiers will make jokes as you drive by in your pink moped, and you may get shot by the scattered Venezuelan forces, but you should have no difficulty returning safely to HQ. Deliver the Devastator to the same spot where you dropped off the guns, and you'll earn the honor of talking to the UP's leader, Dr. Rubin.

Phone Tag
Location: UP Headquarters

With the gates open, you can walk right into the UP compound. Enter through the main entrance to trigger a cut-scene and start your next mission.

Dr. Rubin is willing to help you track Blanco, but first you need to help rescue a kidnapped marketing VP. For this mission UP will let you call in one of their helicopters to deliver listening posts. Three of them set at specific points will allow you to triangulate the kidnapper's position.

You can set the listening posts in any order, but they're all located in hostile enemy territory. The closest one is in the northwest corner, so that's where we'll start. To get there, just take one of the UP vehicles. Since you're friendly with the faction, they'll let you take it without a fight, and if you honk the horn, any nearby soldiers will man the gun on your truck.

Drive towards the northwest drop point. Just to the left of the entrance, you'll see a tank waiting to be hijacked. Nearby is a small rocky outcrop that you can take cover behind. First, shoot down the gunner on top, then run up to the turret and hijack the Puma Light Tank. Driving this behemoth will make the next part of your mission much easier.

You'll find a lot of tanks sitting in convenient locations.

Now, drive the tank through the front gate and start blowing up anything that moves. The listening post drop point is to your right, but directly in front of that spot is a building filled with soldiers. Those soldiers are equipped with rocket launcher, and they'll make short work of your tank if you don't get rid of them. Stay back out of their line of sight and don't stop firing until the building is gone.

Not blowing up the building will make your helicopter pilot very unhappy.

With the coast clear, you can call in the helicopter pilot and move on to the next target.

The tank is effective, but pretty slow moving, so ditch it for something a little faster as you make your way to the western waypoint. You'll find several patrolling VZ jeeps patrolling the area. Kill the soldiers driving one and take their vehicle. Stay away from other VZ troops, and after a few moments, your stealth bar will start to fill up. When it maxes out, you'll be able to pass unhindered into their base.

Driving straight in, you'll see two parking garages to your right; enter the first one. At the top is the drop point for the second listening device, but first you'll need to take out the surface-to-air missile launcher (SAM) on the opposite rooftop. The easy way is to drive your vehicle close to the edge where the two buildings meet. With a full stealth bar, you won't get fired on. Get out and start lobbing grenades at the gunner, or, if you're out of grenades, just shoot the gunner and any nearby soldiers who might take his place.

Ewan won't fly in if there's a SAM in the area.

Once the path is safe for Ewan to come in, call in the listening post drop inside the circle, and get out of there. As soon as the second listening device is in place, a timer will start and you'll have 15 minutes to complete the final objectives.

The third listening post to put in place is to the south, so try to get there as quickly as possible. There is no barricade in front of this base, so drive straight in. Going through the gate, you'll see an unattended tank in front of the hangar to your right. Park beside the tank, climb in, and start shooting all the soldiers buildings you see.

Although the machine gunners are harmless, soldiers wielding rocket launchers are in a building in the opposite corner. Make sure you take them out before leaving the safety of the tank.

Get them before they get you.

Once the final listening post is in place, you'll be able to trace the kidnappers' location. It turns out they're calling from a armored van driving around the city. The clock is still ticking, so you'll have to rescue the hostage before time runs out.

If you try to pull a car in front of him, he'll just plow through you without stopping. To get him to stop, without killing the UP executive inside, drive into him head-on with a another vehicle. You'll have to anticipate his route using your minmap to make this plan work. This won't stop the van completely, but it will slow it down for a few seconds. It's more than enough time to get out of your vehicle, run around behind the van, and rescue the hostage.

While destroying the vehicle is easier, it's not so good for the hostage inside.

Drive back to UP HQ after taking control of the armored car. The mission completed, you'll finally have access to Ewan, your very own helicopter pilot. Before continuing on, take a moment to try out the new helicopter challenge missions [LINK] he offers. It will help you both familiarize yourself with the game's helicopter controls, and earn a little extra cash. You can also finally pick up the money, fuel, and weapon stashes scattered across the map.

Story Missions: Team Building

You have a helicopter pilot, but two team members are still missing. Talk to Ewan to reveal Eva's location on your map. Eva is a mechanic who can create powerful weapons from the hidden parts you find scattered around the world. In addition, you'll gain the ability to hijack helicopters.

Doom Patrol
Location: Eva's Garage (Guanare)

A wrench icon, Guanare, is in the southeast corner of your map. That's Eva's Garage. It's a long drive even with a PLAV landing spot, so grab something fast to get there.

There aren't many VZ in the area, so you should make it unscathed.

Walk up to the garage to talk with Eva, but as you may have guessed, she isn't willing to join you right away. First, she needs someone to take her latest creation out on the test track. That someone is you.

You'll find her prototype vehicle, the Cacharro de Meuerte, parked just outside. It's red with enormous tires, so you can't miss it. This mission is just a race through the checkpoints: first around the block, then off-road through an abandoned mine.

What makes the de Muerte special is the ability to jump. Pull the right trigger to activate the thruster, but keep in mind, the harder you push the button, the farther you'll jump. You can clear most small obstacles with just a light tap. You can also control the car in midair, so for longer jumps, push forward slightly to keep yourself level and ease your landing.

Who puts train cars in the middle of the road?

You'll face more and more obstacles as the course progresses, but don't worry about landing perfectly or even staying on the track. The vehicle is able to right itself well, and there is no penalty for failing.

When Eva says, "Let's see how well this baby can handle it," a timer will start in the upper right hand corner. You only have 45 seconds to start, but every checkpoint you hit will give you an additional ten.

Make it through the obstacle course with time left on the clock to permanently add the mechanic Eva to your team.

Misha Milanich
Location: Pirate Isles

With Eva at your villa, talk to her to reveal the jet pilot Misha's location. Get Ewan to pilot you as far north as possible, then hijack a boat to get to Misha's island. While UP helicopters might be faster, attempting to land it in Pirate territory will get you shot down by the numerous pirates carrying antiaircraft rockets.

You'll find the drunken Misha in a rundown shack near the coast. He's willing to lend you his skills as a jet pilot, but first, you have to help him. He wants revenge on the VZ Lieutenant responsible for getting him kicked out of the service. The Lieutenant is holed up in a secure military bunker that requires some serious firepower to blow up. Your mission is to steal three bunker busters bombs, then help Misha drop them on the offending Lieutenant. Of course, the bombs are scattered across a separate VZ-controlled island.

Grab a jet ski in the water and speed over to the first island. Tall cliff walls make the eastern side the only entrance. Only a few soldiers are in the area, and a VZ tank by the collapsible shacks is waiting to be hijacked.

Use the shacks as temporary covers as you try to get close.

Take out the gunner, then run up close to start the hijack.

Before you can call Ewan to pick up the bunker busters, you'll have to take out the SAM marked with a red diamond on your minimap. This shouldn't be a problem with the tank. Just drive up the hill, and use your cannon.

Fill up your stealth meter and you won't have to worry about getting shot at all.

The bunker busters are located farther up the hill, in the heart of the enemy encampment. By the time you meet hostile forces at the top, your stealth meter will be full, and you'll pass by without being noticed. But that won't last long.

As soon as you step out of the tank to retrieve your bombs, enemy soldiers will start pouring out of three buildings around the island. Preempt their attack by destroying the structures first. After entering the encampment, hang a left towards the north. Next, destroy these buildings:

Only regular soldiers come out of here, but they can be a nuisance.

Before collecting your resources, go to the enemy bunker at the western tip of the island. Follow the road to find it.

Do these guys get lonely in their separate bunker?

With almost no troops left to attack, you can safely collect the bombs. Just like the other pickup supplies, you'll need to call in Ewan to grab the bunker busters after selecting them. Pushing the action button on them is not enough.

Ewan won't show up unless you call him, so throw down some smoke so he knows where to go.

With the bunker busters in hand, you're ready to finish off the Lieutenant. Unfortunately for you, he's on another island, so you can't bring the tank with you. Head to the northern edge of the island to see your next objective. It's not too far, so if you're unable to procure a boat or hijack the helicopter circling the area, just hop in the water and swim across.

The compound on this island is much more heavily fortified than the last. However, inside the walls of the camp, another tank is waiting for you. The tank moves around, so look for it on your minimap.

Hijacking tanks saves you a lot of money on airstrikes.

Driving the tank, concentrate on destroying two buildings: the two on either side of the bunker's entrance. You can't call a airstrike from within the bunker's walls and survive it, but standing outside the building is suicide from the enemies firing rocket launchers.

When both buildings are destroyed, stand as far away as you can, and equip the bunker busters. If you haven't done it already, you'll have to select them from your stockpile menu and put them into one of your equipment slots. Finally, face the bunker, aim your laser, and fire. Don't take the laser off until the bomb drops, or Misha might miss.

You have three bunker busters, but if you don't miss, you'll get to keep the others in your stockpile

If you're following the Mercs 2 SuperGuide, you won't have picked up any fuel upgrades yet, so the 300 oil cost will drain your reserves. Don't worry, though, because you'll get the chance to earn plenty back. Although there's a lot of fuel to airlift out in this area, firing the missiles and completing the mission will transport you back to PMC HQ.

Story Missions: Universal Petroleum Pt.2

The UP Depot Outpost is east of UP HQ. Before you can complete the main story missions, you'll have to talk to the guard there. He'll open up the depot as a helicopter landing area and offer you your next contract.

Altagracia Outpost
Location: UP Depot Outpost

This will be your first "Outpost" contract, a mission that follows the same structure every time. The red X's on the right side of your screen, next to "Outpost," indicate how many of your faction's soldiers have successfully entered the enemy compound. For this mission, you need only three soldiers, and the strike team is only three men strong. If any soldiers die, or an enemy enters the compound (taking away one of your X's), you can always call in more soldiers at no additional cost.

On the mission, you'll find the outpost across the bay to the east. It isn't heavily guarded, is right in the center, and is fairly exposed.

To start, hop into a vehicle and drive straight to the inner back wall of the outpost. Get out, and travel around the around the outside of the building that you have to capture, killing any soldiers you see. Don't forget the guys watching you from the lookout posts. You can use the area for cover.

Even if he could see you, he would miss.

When you've taken out almost everyone, call in the UP strike team.

Kill anyone who is not a UP soldier.

The UP soldiers will enter the base one at a time, so just provide cover as they stand around waiting to get in. Once all the X's are green, you'll have finished the contract.

Leave No Trace
Location: Universal Petroleum HQ

Solano is about to invade a UP refinery where an executive is shredding sensitive company documents. Your mission is to escort him to safety. Grab a Raven from the HQ parking lot, and follow your PDA to his location. The refinery where he's working is under fire from a small VZ team.

Pass through the gate leading to your objective and you'll be told to kill the eight VZ soldiers. Man the gun in the back of your truck and blow them all away from a safe distance.

Ducks. Barrel. You know the simile.

When the VZ are gone, enter the building, and then retrieve the executive. He'll be huddled in the corner behind some crates. He still has more documents to destroy, so you need to get him to the next site.

As soon as you arrive at the next waypoint, climb the ramp behind the trailer onto the boat. Run north, and use the weapon emplacements on the deck to blow up the approaching VZ forces.

Your UP teammate is completely useless here.

When Fiona tells you they're coming from the south, just run to the other side of the boat and use the other recoilless rifle. In order to move onto the next trailer, you'll have to go to the north side one last time before the executive finishes.

A UP Raven's should be intact in front of the trailer, so hop in one and drive to the next point on the minimap. The north exit will be too cluttered with the debris of the trucks you destroyed, so take the south exit to get out.

After dropping him off at the second site, walk directly behind the trailer. You'll find a wide stairway leading up to grenade launcher emplacements.

Don't run up the wrong tower. There are no weapons on the other towers.

Use the grenade launchers to clear out the attackers from the north, then from the east and west. After that, Fiona will say that you're surrounded, and you should retreat up the tower. Climb the stairs going up, and UP will deliver an antiair missile launcher to use. Don't use it to blow up the approaching helicopters. Instead, take out one chopper, use the rest of you missile ammo and the vehicles attacking the trailer, then hijack the second helicopter. From ground level, you'll be able to take cover from the helicopters guns until it's close enough to steal.

Hijacking gets easier the more you do it.

After that, all that's left is to clean out the remaining VZ survivors, and then deliver the executive back to HQ. Even without the helicopter's firepower, this shouldn't be too much of a problem, but it makes the trip back to base a lot faster.

The promised info on Solano's whereabouts isn't immediately forthcoming, so you'll have to turn to other sources until Dr. Rubin is ready to talk.

Story Missions: P.L.A.V.

Orinoco River Outpost
Location: Southeastern Amazon Outpost

If you haven't already, talk to Fiona about the People's Liberation Army of Venezuela (PLAV) to reveal their base on your map. Before getting their assistance, you have to gain their trust by liberating the PLAV outpost on the Orinoco river. Talk to Manuel Diaz at the Southeastern Amazon Outpost to start the contract.

Just as with the UP missions, you'll have to get three PLAV soldiers into a building to win the area.

You'll find the perfect vehicle for this mission parked at the edge of town, to your left as you're leaving: Arbenz Mobile AA.

Not so effective against heavy artillery, but this guy is great for taking killing regular grunts.

Drive it straight down the mountain to the outpost. It can take the abuse and its strong treads will keep it from flipping over. Pull into the enemy stronghold and start gunning down the enemy with your tank. Start with emplaced gunner to the north of the building you need to secure.

Their puny VZ guns have no effect on your might PLAV armor.

The VZ's weapons will be useless against your tank armor, and the outpost is relatively small, so you can takeout all the opposition in less than a minute. When there's no one left to fire back, climb out of the tank and summon the PLAV guerrillas to take over the building. After all three enter, you'll have a new outpost along with a new set of contracts.

We know what you're thinking, but don't do it. Shooting your teammates is a bad idea.

Paint the Town
Location: PLAV HQ

With the preliminaries out of the way, you can meet with Marcela Acosta, the guerrilla leader. In return for information about Blanco and Salano's meeting, she needs you to free the town of Merida and bring her the head of one of Carmona's Generals.

First, to bring Mendez out of hiding, you'll have to destroy three of his occupied buildings. Fortunately for you, tanks roam the city, so you won't need to bring your own weapons to bring them down. Make your way into Merida, hijack any tanks you find along the way, and blow up the buildings.

The more you hijack, the easier it gets.

To keep a tank with full armor, don't attack when you see an enemy tank. Instead, drive up fairly close to the enemy and let them destroy your current vehicle. Then, after you land, hijack the tank that just blew you up. This will keep the enemy from using your abandoned vehicles against you, while constantly assuring that you have a tank with nearly full armor.

A few shots from the tank's artillery will bring each building down, but Mendez won't be brought out so easily. He will retaliate by attacking a church filled with civilians. While Fiona tries to track down his location, it's your job to keep the church safe. Tanks will approach from every direction, but there are recoilless rifles set up all along the church's perimeter. Face your attackers head-on with a few shots from the rifle to take them.

If you get confused as to which direction the attacks are coming from, check your minimap. As always, tanks will appear as transparent squares. If you get overwhelmed by too many tanks close to the church, hijack a tank to take it out of the battle, and use it to attack the other tanks. This will draw fire away from the church, while letting you deal damage to the tanks.

Church attendance has been down ever since the emplaced weapons were installed.

Once Fiona has Mendez's coordinates, you can abandon the church and go after him. He's in a stadium not too far away. However, if you were hoping to earn the bonus from not killing any civilians and bringing him in alive, you're going to have to work carefully.

First, take out the soldier firing rockets from the bleachers, both for your safety, and to keep Mendez alive, then use C4 to take out any buildings that spawn new soldiers. After that, it's just a matter of gunning down the other VZ soldiers and staying alive. As soon as you can, subdue Mendez then move far away from him so no stray explosions accidentally kill him.

Strangely, fire doesn't cause damage in this world.

If you don't care about the extra money, then just drive a tank in and shoot anything that moves. You can always sort the bodies out later.

Jungle Cruise
Location: Orinoco River Outpost

Even though you saved Merida, Acosta isn't talking just yet. You'll have to finish one more mission before moving on. The PLAV is testing a prototype boat for the Chinese, and, guess what, they need you to put it through its paces.

It's just another run through floating checkpoints, but this one's a little more perilous than your previous races. After accepting the mission, you'll find the boat waiting for you down the hill from the house.

The biggest challenge in this race is the mines. Some checkpoints pass dangerously close to the explosive traps, and one touch will send you back to the retry screen. If you don't think you'll be able to squeeze by a mine, use the gun mounted on the front of the boat to take it out before you touch it. However, the gun can only fire straight ahead, so try to dodge when you can, rather than risk running headlong into a minefield.

This race encompasses the entire game's political allegory. Discuss.

Tropical Island Getaway
Location: PLAV Headquarters

Acosta's final mission involves a massive attack on a heavily fortified VZ stronghold. If you have the flight path to the pirates already open, you won't have to travel as far. Otherwise, it's a long trip across the map. Prepare for the fight by bringing C4, and artillery Strikes or bombing runs. Anything you've managed to find while traveling across the world map will work fine.

Whether you come by helicopter or boat, you should approach the island from the north. The south end is the natural entrance, but the north is less fortified and gives you a more direct route to your targets.

Hey, an easily accessible, completely unguarded entrance!

You'll earn a small bonus for taking out all the enemy bunkers, but it's not enough money to warrant the time and cost it would take to destroy them all. Just focus on your main castle targets.

Before guards start raising the alarm, hop into a jeep and drive towards the west tower (counter clock-wise around the island).

Drive fast, and don't stop for hitchhikers.

Hop out just before reaching the stairs, and leave your vehicle there so you can use it again after destroying the tower. The easiest way to accomplish the first task is to run up the stairs and gun down the guards. Then use the emplaced weaponry to destroy the target and the jamming device. Two rounds of C4 is equally effective.

This is either creative or stupid. It is not both.

If you use the emplaced weapon, you'll be sent flying, but you'll only take about 10 points of damage. Get up, travel back to your waiting jeep, and then start circling the opposite direction around the island. Along the way you'll find a SAM (marked with a red diamond on your map). You'll want Ewan to come by later to retrieve supplies, so take it out before continuing. Use a rocket launcher, grenades, or antiair missiles -- whatever you've managed to find on site.

Press the right trigger to cycle through the different weapons available.

With the SAM out of commission, continue along the circular island to the main castle on the other side. If you've kept the jeep, you'll be able to drive right up to the castle stairs. However, if you're on foot, use the ramparts along the edge of the island to avoid any unnecessary confrontations. Go to the top of the stairs and take out the final jamming unit.

If you stay in the vehicle, let your stealth meter build up. Then even though you drive up the stairs in a completely open vehicle, the VZ won't know who you are.

There are two easy ways to take out the jammer. Either use the emplaced recoilless rifle right above the tank to blow it up. Or hijack the vehicle, drive it towards the edge of the castle, and jump out before it goes careening over the side. Stand back, call in an artillery strike on the site, then turn your focus to the bridge.

Even though the castle is leveled, you can still walk through it. Head over to the bridge, and then plant two pieces of C4 at opposite ends. Head back to the safety of the destroyed castle and press the detonator to destroy the final target.

The joy of destroying historical monuments.

When you finish, you'll remain on site, so spend some time restocking your weapon and fuel drops before leaving for the next mission.

Story Missions: PMC Headquarters

Return to PMC HQ for the next mission in your personal vendetta. You've finally gotten information on Blanco's whereabouts, and wherever Blanco is, Solano can't be far behind.

Finding Blanco
Location: PMC Headquarter

This mission is like any other HVT mission: if you can bring Blanco in alive, you'll receive double the normal bounty. Regardless, you need info from Blanco, so if you decide to kill him, it'll have to wait until you know where Solano is hiding.

If you want to bring Blanco in alive, make sure you're at least neutral with the PLAV starting the mission. Otherwise, they won't come to pick him up.

Exit through the back door of your villa and take one of the Triton Patrol Boats parked at your dock to the waypoint.

Technically, these are your boats, right?

The rig is very close by. In fact, you can see it from your villa, so you shouldn't have any trouble locating it. There are two antiair gunships circling the waters beneath the rig. Hijack one, and use its guns to destroy the other.

This will draw the attention of the patrolling helicopter. Instead of shooting it out of the air, walk out on to the deck, and use your grappling hook to hijack it. Then fly up to the rig and use your attached gattling gun to take out any patrolling VZ soldiers.

It's not super-powerful, but it'll do in a pinch.

If things don't go according to plan, use a ladder to reach the support pillar on the northeast side

In case you get knocked into the lake.

After taking out any resistance, you need to decide whether you'll destroy the rig with airstrikes or C4. If all you have are bombs, then you'll need to take out the two SAM emplacements.

The took the time to install this, but no one's manning it. The VZ need a better project coordinator.

Take note of the helicopter sitting on the helipad. If you decide to call in a bombing, or an airstrike, you'll need a quick getaway to get away from the explosion. There's no classier getaway than helicoptering away from an oil rig as it explodes in the background.

If you're afraid Blanco will steal it, then blow it up. You won't get to keep it after the stage ends anyway.

When you're ready, head for the meeting room. In the short cut-scene, you'll learn the location of Solano's bunker, but Blanco will attempt to run away. You can choose to kill him or subdue him, but, either way, you should take care of it before blowing the rig. It makes identifying the body easier.

He's not as heavy as he looks.

With Blanco taken care of, call in an airstrike and escape in the chopper or by jumping off the side of the rig. Alternately, you can plant C4 on the four supporting pillars to bring the whole thing crashing down as well. After you finish, you'll be transported back to PMC HQ, so even if you don't have a ride, you won't need to worry about swimming back to shore.

You could have planned ahead the C4 on before going after Blanco, if you wanted.

Get Solano
Location: PMC Headquarters

Before accepting the next mission, make sure you're at least neutral with the UP and the PLAV. If not, do a couple side missions to raise your reputation back up. You'll need the UP to arrange a pickup of Carmona, and you'll need both groups at neutral in order to have good relationship status from the start with the two new factions that get introduced after this chapter.

Solano's bunker is pretty far out of the way. Fortunately, after accepting the mission, Ewan offers to give you a ride to a spot nearby.

Why doesn't he do things like this more often?

The road leading to the bunker is packed with soldiers, tanks, roadblocks, and heavy artillery. But if you're careful, you won't have to raise a finger against any of it.

Hijack an Iguana MG, or any other VZ vehicle you find handy besides a tank. Tanks don't move fast enough and it would be too unwieldy to navigate the checkpoints ahead.

If you don't have a helicopter, this is the only way to get to the top.

Let your stealth meter fill up completely so you'll be taken as a VZ soldier, then make your way up the path to the bunker.

Don't shoot anyone, and try not to run over anyone, and you'll be able to drive safely past the overwhelming military forces. If your stealth meter starts to get low, pull off to the side of the road, out of the soldiers' line of sight, until it's fully restored.

Rocks provide great cover.

When you're safely at the top, you'll have to take out the AA units to the east and west.

Start out with the SAM to the west (on your right when approaching the bunker). There aren't very many soldiers, and they won't attack until you get out of the truck, so pull right up to the Scorpion before getting out.

With these out of the way, you'll finally be able to open up Solano's den.

You only have to kill the soldiers, but if you want to make sure no one else comes along to use it, destroy the scorpion with whatever heavy-duty weapons you have on hand. After that, head east and repeat the same procedure. The only reason you went west first is because the eastern SAM has extra health packs scattered around it.

With the skies safe, head back to the bunker, equip your bunker buster, and let loose on Solano's hideout.

I have a feeling you might be in this exact same position later.

The strike is ineffective, but you don't have time to worry about it now. VZ forces are invading your villa, and you have 10 minutes to get there. As if that wasn't enough, an attack chopper is on its way to take you out.

Don't rush off just yet. Stay and face the chopper. When it gets close enough, use your grapple to hijack it. You can use the attack chopper to get to your base much faster than you'd be able to drive.

The VZ helicopters are easier to steal than the ones you'll come across later in the game.

When you arrive home, you'll find your front yard overrun by tanks and AA units. Your helicopter won't last long, so fire off as many missiles at the opposing forces as you can before they bring you down. Your goal is to take out all the units before they completely destroy your HQ.

The VZ are out in full force, so don't expect to keep your ride for very long.

After taking out the first wave of four units, four more will appear. If you're on foot, try to hijack the Mosquito AAs first. Their missiles are strong enough to take out the other tanks in only one to two direct hits. You can also use any faction specific airstrikes you might have on hand. Of course, Ewan and Misha are a little busy at the moment so you can't use them.

When all eight of the big guns have been taken down, you'll head inside the villa. In a cut-scene, you'll see Carmona holding Fiona at gunpoint. After she breaks free, Carmona runs out the front door.

He will try to escape by jeep, and all you have to do is catch him. If you want to take him alive, try to run him off the road. When exits his vehicle, subdue him and call in UP for an extraction. Otherwise, shoot him as soon as you have a clean shot.

He doesn't really need to live.

Once the mission is finished, talk to Fiona to unlock the Chinese and Allied Nations (AN) locations and the final set of missions. Although you can complete missions for both groups, ultimately you'll have to choose one.

Story Missions: Allied Nations

NOTE: These AN missions place you in direct opposition to the Chinese, and will affect the final outcome of the game. After completing the final AN mission, you will still be able to complete most missions for the Chinese, but you will have to re-earn their loyalty.

Southern Caracas Outpost
Location: Southwestern Caracas Outpost

The AN will help you acquire a "ground penetrating weapon," but first they need your help taking back an occupied outpost. Like all the previous outpost missions, you have to get troops into the enemy base. However, you'll notice from the red X's that instead of just four, now six soldiers need to enter the building to complete the contract.

Use the same strategy that has worked before: as you approach the enemy outpost, hijack a VZ jeep, let your stealth meter fill completely, then drive undetected into the enemy base. Inside, you'll find an enemy tank circling the courtyard. Pull up to it, kill the gunner, and then requisition the tank.

You'll have to kill the gunner before grabbing this tank, but don't worry, he's a terrible shot.

Once you trigger the alarm, three buildings (marked in red on your minimap) will open fire with rocket launchers. Since they're in direct line-of-fire with the outpost's entrance, you'll have to take them out to continue. Stay back as far as you can, and you should be able to destroy all the buildings from the tank while avoiding the rockets.

If you lose the tank, you'll need to use C4 or airstrikes to cripple your attackers.

It also helps to stay out of the way and build up your stealth meter before attacking.

When the area is clear, you can call in the strike team and wait while they enter the building one-by-one.

Missle Commando
Location: Allied HQ

With the pleasantries out of the way, you can finally speak with Joyce, the AN's leader. He's willing to help you acquire a nuclear bunker buster, but you have to help him get China out of Venezuela.

To start, the AN he needs you to take out Chinese artillery currently attacking Caracas. Although you won't be working against a clock, you will need to work quickly to ensure the AN base doesn't take too much damage.

Hopefully, you're still friendly with the Chinese, since that makes getting into their stronghold much easier. If there are any weapons you want to buy from the Chinese, buy them now This direct assault on their base will immediately turn them hostile.

The first part of this mission involves destroying three mobile artillery units. Hijack a Chinese vehicle and build up your stealth meter if they're hostile towards you, then make your way to the first truck. All three units are positioned close to each other on the same hill. Hijack the first truck , drive up next to the second, and then fire your missiles.

These missiles are very hard to aim from a distance, so make sure you're very close before firing.

If the ensuing explosion doesn't destroy both trucks, then drive your vehicle off the cliff in front of you, and bail out before it goes over the edge. Your next target will be three boats, so drive the final truck towards the river. If it doesn't get destroyed along the way, let it go sailing off the edge of the bridge into the water.

When driving off the bridge, make sure you don't stay in the driver's seat.

From the bridge you'll have a clear view of your next three targets on the water. The ships are all heavily armored and can take a lot of damage, so if you have any satellite strikes, now is the time to use them.

If you're short on airstrikes, jump into the water, swim towards one of the missile boats, and hijack it. Now pull up perpendicular to one of the other boats and fire your artillery. The missiles are hard to aim, but if you're close enough, they'll hit your target.

Join the boats at this angle before firing, or you'll probably miss.

Repeat with the second boat. Now, you just have to destroy the boat you're sitting on. If you have not airstrikes at all, try grounding the boat on the shore and blowing it up with a nearby tank. Since there are not AA vehicles nearby, it's much easier to call in whatever bomb you have a surplus stock of, leave the marker on the boat, then jump off and swim for the shore.

If you call an airstrike, don't stay on the boat see what happens.

With all of the artillery destroyed, the AN base is safe, and you can focus on finding and killing the three officers in charge of the attacks. They're all hiding out on building roofs in the nearby town. Navigating the maze of ladders and stairs through the crumbling structures can be difficult, but keep moving towards your targets, and you'll find them. You can hop across the roofs of buildings to save yourself time.

They soldiers might not even see you coming.

After dispatching the first two, the third commander will try to make a run for it. Again, just follow the triangle on your minimap until you have him in your crosshairs. When he's dead, you'll be able to take on your next AN contract.

Lost and Found
Location: Allied HQ

Joyce needs you to destroy sections of a downed CIA plane and, for extra cash, rescue the CIA agents who piloted it. The plane and agents are located on an island swarming with Chinese tanks and anti-air units, so this will not be an easy mission.

If you want to rescue the pilots, go for them first. Destroying all three pieces of the plane will end the mission. The trick to getting in and out of the area is to use a Chinese helicopter. If you don't have any in your stockpile, and you don't want to bribe get into the Chinese's favor and buy one, you'll have to steal one.

Getting the Chinese to call in an attack chopper is very simple. Attack a group of Chinese soldiers, but don't kill everyone. Instead, let them call for backup (indicated by a flashing faction symbol on your minimap). A helicopter will swoop in to deliver more troops, giving you the perfect opportunity to hijack it.

If you grapple the helicopter before it has a chance to land, it will try to escape without delivering the reinforcements.

The strategy for rescuing the pilots successfully requires being careful: stay on the outskirts of the island until your stealth meter is full, open fire on any nearby AA targets, and move in and out of the artillery's range as necessary.

When the coast is clear, land your helicopter nearby, talk to the agent, and then call for an extraction. There are only two pilots to rescue, but they're being kept at opposite ends of the island.

Don't try to airlift these guys out yourself. Help the AN help you.

To destroy the plane fragments, you'll use the same strategy you used for the hostages. Fire your missiles sparingly, and you'll be able to complete this section of the mission in a single run. If you run low on ammo, or your helicopter's health dips below twenty, head back to the mainland, and steal another helicopter. You can try to steal one on the island, but the number of tanks and rocket-wielding soldiers makes it prohibitively dangerous.

Be particularly careful around the southernmost plane fragment. It's on the deck of a ship armed with lots of anti-air artillery. Stay as far back as you can, and focus on hitting the plane fragment, as soon as it's destroyed, fly away from the boat.

Stay as far back as you can to avoid rocket fire.

If your plane happens to go down on the island, get into a vehicle and stay moving as much as possible. The tanks will make short work of any mercenaries trespassing on foot. When you've destroyed all three pieces, you can accept the final AN story contract.

WARNING: If you want to earn a 100% completion score, you will have to do the Chinese story missions before completing the next contract. You will still be able to fulfill outpost contracts, but the story missions form Chinese HQ will be irretrievable.

Battle for Caracas vs. China
Location: Allied HQ

This is the final push to completely weaken the Chinese forces and drive them from Venezuela. Your mission is to take out 4 Chinese AA units in Caracas, then bring in General Peng, dead or alive.

The AA emplacements are just regular vehicles and don't present much of a threat; it's the tanks guarding them. The tanks are only dangerous from a distance so if you run up close and hijack one, you can safely turn it against the Chinese forces.

The tanks in this game are very powerful. AA trucks, on the other hand, not so much.

None of the targets are special, and you shouldn't have to waste any of your free airstrikes in destroying them. Travel to your four targets around the city, and blow them up with your tank cannon.

Caracas is mostly an AN occupied so there are plenty of safe places to take cover along the way if you need to switch vehicles. After the AA units are neutralized, go to General Peng's location.

If the extra money from bringing him in alive doesn't matter, then avoid the enemy Chinese military and drive around the back of the encampment. From there, you have a clear shot at the general.

Take out the wall, or use a tall enemy vehicle to climb this wall and bypass the enemies waiting at the front door.

To bring him in alive, you'll have to clear out the AA units so the chopper can come pick him up, then clear a path to the fortress' entrance. There's a low wall just outside the north end of the encampment where you can safely toss in your free AN airstrike.

This wall is low enough to easily toss in airstrikes or to jump over for a surprise assault.

If that doesn't take most of your opposition out, walk over the crumbling walls, and toss another one. You'll meet very little resistance in the castle surrounding the general, so just kill his guards, then knock out and subdue him. You'll be able to call for an extraction right where you find him on the terrace.

With the Chinese threat eliminated, the AN will finally help you get Solano.

Story Missions: Finale

Get Solano, Part Two

You've acquired your nuclear bunker buster, and now it's time to finish off Solano. His bunker hasn't moved; it's still located in the far off Amazon basin, so get ready for a long, uneventful journey. After the full-scale war you waged against either the Chinese or Allied forces, this mission will almost feel like a break.

Like your first visit to the bunker, if you drive, you will need to hijack a VZ vehicle to make it to the top. Driving another faction's vehicle will just lead to long, unnecessary battles, and civilian vehicles don't have enough armor.

Solano is ready for you this time since. At the summit you'll find an attack helicopter and a tank waiting for you. If you drove up, hijack the tank before the helicopter lifts off and starts attacking. VZ with rocket launchers will destroy the tank quickly, but you'll be able to get off a few shots before they take you down. With the tank out of the way, hijack the chopper.

If it gets too far away, take cover behind some rocks until it comes searching for you.

Your other option is to hijack an assault helicopter from the Americans or Chinese and fly it directly to the bunker. Use your chopper's missiles to take out the VZ tank and chopper, and then focus your guns on the ground troops.

Watch out for the soldier carrying a rocket launcher on top of the bunker (the bright light on the image below). He can end your flight quickly if you're not careful.

However, if you see the bright light while playing, get out of the way -- it means a rocket is about to come for you.

It takes a little luck, but you might be able to take out the rest of the forces from your helicopter. You don't want anyone to disrupt your aim with the bunker buster, so make sure you kill everyone. If you get stuck on the ground, pull out any airstrikes you have available to help clear the area. This is the last major mission, so don't hold back! Wide ranging weapons such as the cluster bomb are good for taking out any hiding enemies; just make sure you're out of the explosion radius.

When all the VZ are dead, equip the nuclear weapon and aim the designator at the front door. The blast radius is large, but if you keep your distance you'll be fine. After the missile lands, you're ready to verify Solano.

"Step into my highly irradiated parlor," said the spider to the fly.

Walk through the newly created door and into the glowing circle to initiate a cut-scene with Solano. Before he can escape in his helicopter, you'll have to hijack the vehicle. Like with all the hijackings before, you'll push buttons as they appear on screen.

Xbox 360 Button Sequence: B, Left, A, Right, X
PS3 Button Sequence: Circle, Left, X, Right, Square

After "winning" the helicopter minigame, enjoy your ending cutscene. You've beaten the game! But that doesn't mean you're finished. The world is still open to you, minus the faction HQ destroyed by Solano's nuke. You can still go back and finish the many side missions from the other factions, or blaze a path of destruction and mayhem across the country with all the money you've acquired. Complied with help from the mycheats walkthrough which is user contributed site.

Hope this has helped you complete the game.
