Flak cannon tricks/tips:

These mainly work against bots, and if you follow them you can quite easily beat godlike bots in a flak cannon battle.

1.Try to hide behind walls etc, bots do not seem to shoot at you if they cant see you, and they dont dodge either. It is best to strafe out from behind the wall, fire a quick shot at their feet then retreat again before their shot gets to you.

2. If a bot is camping somewhere (more useful for a 1 on 1 match) pause the game, press F5 (to view from them so you know where they are) and then sneak up on them, stop somewhere where they aren't in sight, but where you will be able to fire a flak grenade right beside them, dealing them damage, and they wont have a clue where the shot came from. If it is last man standing, and their is only one bot, you can continue doing this until they die, and when they respawn, keep doing it until they run out of health. I can sometimes kill a bot 10+ times without losing any health doing this.

3. Run away from the bot when fighting them, staying a room's length away, and fire grenades behind you, so the bots get a nice treat when they walk around the corner chasing you. Only really effective with one on one otherwise you will walk backwards into people and get wasted.

If you have to fight bots in an open room (common when there are several bots in the match):
1. Dont charge right up to someone and shoot them with the primary fire, unless you are confident that one shot will kill them, because if it doesnt, they will shoot back, and very likely do you a lot of damage. In last man standing, people get 100 health and armour, a point blank shot will not kill them, they still have 8 health left and if they shoot you back you may be left with only 8 health and will not last very long. If you suddenly have someone in front of you the best thing to do is alternate fire, you will lose some health from splash damage, but it will kill them outright.

2. Aim flak grenades at bots feet this will inflict damage and send them flying around the room, so they wont shoot back at you very well. You can then sometimes charge in and finish them off with a primary fire, or fire another grenade to land where they land, causing more damage, and they wont last for long.

3. If you add the relic of strength mutator on the practice session, try to get this relic in the game, as it greatly increases the damage you do. You can then basically run around slaughtering people with a close range shot with primary fire, this will rake up kills quite quickly.

4. Often you will have to kill the person with the relic of strength to get it, beware they can kill you quite quickly with this, dodge them as much as possible, this is easier at a longer distance, if they shoot you at close range you will probably die.

5. Take advantage of the way that the bot's weaknesses - one is when they fire grenades, they seem to aim them at your head, not your feet so they are easy to dodge, one step to the side and you are safe. And fighting them when they cant see you, they dont seem to fight at all. And they seem to dodge in a pattern sometimes, rather than how i dodge which is to avoid what ever they shoot at me, I dont bother dodgeing at all if i can see that their shot is going to miss.

6. Try to stay in wider spaces so you have more room to dodge, and try to target bots while they are in confined spaces to they cant move much.

Well thats just a few ideas, they take quite a bit of practice to follow all these guidelines but if you do you will out fight godlike bots quite easily.

Unreal tournament weapon guide

You need weapons to get anywhere in this game. The question is what to do with any of them and how could I make any of these actually useful? Well this walkthrough will give you info on what each gun does and how the gun can be used as to make them effective. Remember that some of the tips I give can also be used in multiplayer as well. Hope this helps. Happy hunting.

[Impact hammer]

Primary function: Charge up one hit kill shot. You can perform a sort of “rocket jump” if used properly.

Secondary function: Rapid hitting that can deflect projectiles.

DETAILS:

Its tricky to use and best suited for amusement or desperate situations. Your opponent has to be poor at fighting or stupid to make this work effectively. Provided you stay away from the opponent this won’t be a threat.

[Enforcer pistol]

Primary function: accurate single bullet

Secondary function: Fire more bullets at the cost of accuracy and increased ammo consumption.

DETAILS:

This is what you start off with. It’s got 30 bullets. More then enough for you to defend yourself till better weapons crop up. At the start every time you respawn, you should move as quickly as possible to find a new weapon as soon as possible and only use the enforcer to make pot shots at anyone who comes close till you find a new gun. Don’t use this weapon for intense combat or the weapon of choice as its slow rate of firing and weak base damage doesn’t help things along, and although there’s dual weapon support (meaning twice the firepower), it can still be surpassed both in fire rate and damage by the Minigun.

[Shock rifle]

Primary function: accurate rapid Long laser shot

Secondary function: slow energy ball but delivers twice as much damage

DETAILS:

There are 2 models. Standard and Instagib rifles. Standard shock rifles have the primary and secondary functions. Both Primary and secondary shots can throw someone back if used properly. But generally To use either function properly will require practice and accuracy. You can form super shot by shooting a ball out first and using the primary shot to shoot it and create a large explosion. It’s difficult to set up but the results are very satisfying so try and learn this. Furthermore, try and use the shock rifle on people on dangerous areas like edge of cliffs or tight areas. Primary function should be used at long ranges as it can travel very quickly and is highly accurate. Whilst the secondary function for general fighting as it can do far more damage and allow you to set up a super shot when desired.

Instagib rifles can only be found on instagib mode and come with infinite ammo and only the primary laser. This gun can kill things instantly and should be used for practices in perfecting the shock rifle.

[Biosrifle]

Primary function: A shot of green explosive ooze.

Secondary function: charge up a shot that will produce many smaller globs of green ooze.

DETAILS:

This gun appears to have no use at all, but it does. Firstly the goo itself is sticky and will stick to surfaces unless something organic makes contact in which case it explodes. The primary function is rapid firing and if you maintain continuos firing of the ooze at a target you could cause some massive damage. Alternatively, you could use the secondary function and produce one massive glob and kill or critically damage your opponent in one. Even if it does miss, when it hits a surface its will break and form smaller globs which could hit your target. But the real charm comes with team games such as CTF and assault. In CTF, it is the perfect weapon to use if you want to delay a pursuer for several vital seconds as you make your escape assuming your team mates are not with you. Set one massive glob and from there on simply leave a trail of smaller blobs with the primary function. This works great in corridors and on bridges. In assault you could use this gun up close for suicide attacks if you use behind doors or up close against an opponent.

[Ripper]

Primary function: Throw out lots of blades

Secondary function: Explosive blade

DETAILS:

This gun isn’t particularly useful unless you’re very accurate. The primary function should be used by simply just firing the gun continuously at a person or into a room in the hope of killing someone. You can land headshots and kill them instantly but that’s difficult to do. Since its fire rate is rapid and can bounce no subtle tactics would be required as you require spray and pray tactics and fill rooms with blades. The secondary function although more damaging is slow and shouldn’t be used. You’re better off having a rocket launcher.

[Plasma rifle]

Primary function: fires lots Plasma shots

Secondary function: continuous plasma beam

DETAILS:

A nice rifle, although the primary functions easy to spot bright green look and not so fast travelling shots make it easy to dodge. But since this is the only method you’ll shoot long range so don’t neglect it. The real power comes from its second function, which produces a microwave beam laser. This is far more damaging and more effective then the primary shot and provided you can lock on to the person for long periods of time, you can’t go wrong with this weapon. Problem is that its medium range restricts this mode but most levels aren’t large enough to make this weapon useless. In team games this gun should be stable weapon for all team games as it has a nice balance between long range and short range fighting.

[Minigun]

Primary function: A continuos accurate stream of bullets

Secondary function: Faster firing rate at the cost of lesser accuracy and increased consumption of ammo.

DETAILS:

This weapon does have its uses, but you’ll need to concentrate the fire to make any use of it because each of the bullets is weak. If possible, try not to resort to this weapon against someone who is heavily with a shield belt. As it will take a lot of ammo before you’ll finish them off and there are much better weapons for dealing with this type of scenario. When using this weapon. Try and use the primary function from long ranges and when they get to medium or close ranges you use the second function like there was no tomorrow. If you do find a damage amplifier, this gun will most certainly be a good choice to use when you collect it. Its also not too bad in defensive jobs provided you concentrated their fire power towards the head region and camped around a bit. This should also be a staple weapon for team games as this is useful for intense fighting.

[Flak cannon]

Primary function: Flak pellets

Secondary function: Shooting out the whole shell itself.

DETAILS:

Primary mode is useful if your accuracy is a little flaky, as it produces a relative large spread perfect for close quarter fighting, emptying corridors or small rooms and anywhere where dodging isn’t possible (E.g. like the outer edges of DM_Peak). If an opponent absorbs most of the pellets it can cause enormous damage. Even someone with a shield belt can be dealt with in a couple of shots. It can also bounce round surfaces, which allows you to produce indirect fire, which is helpful for defence and general annoying purposes. Disadvantage is that It’s for short-ranged and medium purposes as you fire the flak out, it disperses further and further out when you needed them to be concentrated. Sometimes if the flak doesn’t hit anything, It’ll simply just fall to the floor cold.

The second function can be just as damaging. But the real beauty of this setting is that if you aiming the flak in the right places, you can send people flying off the edges and platforms to their deaths. Another feature which makes it good is the fact that its useful at long ranges if used properly as the shot keeps its integrity till it makes contact with something. The downside however to this weapon is that you’ll have to be accurate with this function, if you miss, you’ve wasted a precious shot that could cost you dearly and splash damage isn’t good.

In team games, you’d want to use this weapon for fast and efficient fragging as it can tear through people quite quickly. It can be good for defence and offensive purposes in team games. As the gun is effective behind doors and corners for entrances whilst it can be a very good assault weapon to clear the way for the flag holder. Another must have item.

[Rocket launcher]

Primary function: Rockets

Secondary function: Grenades

DETAILS:

Primary function is commonly used in most situations as its range is unlimited and the damage it does is good. Splash damage for each rocket is reasonable. The secondary function’s grenades can be thrown out and bounced around although they are slow and easily dodged from long distances. The rocket launcher does have homing capabilities and can be activated when you aim your cross hairs long enough to change to a red circle. But that takes so long that it’s pointless and if they moved around constantly, this feature is difficult to use. The advice for this weapon really is to try using the primary function for most purposes. If you want, try and hold down the fire button to load more rockets in as to increase the chances of catching your foe with a direct hit. But this can take time and during this time you can’t fire back, plus most of the rockets would be wasted anyway, so only put in 3 at most. The grenades should be used when you want to delay someone or block off areas for vital seconds as the grenades can bounce around and only detonate after a period of time or when it hits someone.

[Sniper rifle]

Primary function: Unzoomed, one accurate shot.

Secondary function: scope (Range x10)

DETAILS:
Its the ultimate in long range fighting. If you can score headshots you’ll kill them instantly (Or in 2 shots anywhere else) so try and position them down long corridors or defensive positions. The perfect defensive weapon in team games. In deathmatches, your uses are slightly limited unless you’re highly accurate. As the primary function is difficult to hit anyone so its better off you use another weapon. When choosing a sniper spot look for the most common used areas and find areas that look over that region. If possible, try aiming the gun at doorways and in bunkers as to restrict opponents use of those areas.

[Redeemer]

Primary function: Launching the rocket forwards.

Secondary function: Guide your rocket towards your target.

DETAILS:

As the name suggests, this weapon can redeem you if your Frag score is looking a bit low. Don’t bother using the secondary function of guiding the missile, as you’re left open for attack and when you die, the rocket will simply self destruct regardless if it reaches its target or not. Therefore it’s best you use the primary function. When you do launch it, make sure you’re far, far away as the explosion is HUGE and the shock waves will kill everyone it finds. If used properly you could kill lots and lots of people thus increasing your score dramatically either winning the game or putting you back with a fighting chance. This weapon is also useful for clearing out team bases or teams in team games like capture the flag as the explosion is so far reaching. Try and throw one before you enter bases as to clear the way to obtain the flag. But the only downside to this weapon is that it’s very prised and most people online know its powers and want to get their hands on it first. Therefore, it’s important that you know where to find them.

[Translocator]

Primary function: Shoot the teleportation disc (press it again after launching as to retrieve it)

Secondary function: Teleport to where ever the disc lands.

DETAILS:

To be fair this isn’t a weapon, its a teleporter. But despite that, you can kill people via “telefragging”. To telefrag anyone simply shoot the disk at them and hope that when you teleport you teleport into them and gibing them. This tactic is perfect for trying to enter bunkers or as a last resort. But to be honest you should never really resort to this method of killing as it takes so long and is difficult to perform. Plus it’s only in team based games will you have it. You’re better off finding a gun and using that instead.
