Spider-Man FAQ v.2 for Nintendo GameCube

Unpublished work Copyright 2002

Spider-Man, all characters within, and Marvel are copyright
their respective
owners.

Authors Note: This guide was created using the GameCube version
of Spider-Man.
While the information within may be useful for the PlayStation 2
or X-Box versions,
I take no claim that it will be the same for those respective
systems. So please, if you
can, use an FAQ for the system you own! I will not do anything
on the X-Box
exclusive Kraven levels, so please do not e-mail me asking about
that. And also, this
guide may contain spoilers, so read at your own discretion!

UPDATES: v.1 4/22/02 My very first FAQ. In this version I
made well. The
whole thing!

v.2 4/28/02 Here's the first update with your contributions!
Thank you all very
much for making this possible and the response I have gotten is
overwhelming. I
appreciate your interest. I've added a section at the top
detailing which sites can
host this FAQ and several of the levels in the walkthrough and
training sections
have been updated with your tips. I've also added a section on
the Green Goblin.
Also, even though I said I would only give credit to the first
person that sent in how
to do something, I had a change of heart and everyone who
contributes will be
added to the credits section. The first person to contribute the
trick has their name
directly in the section they contributed to. I did not add the
fighting guide, but I
don't think that it is necessary. Also, the walkthrough is 100%
complete now, with
locations of all golden spider icons and secret areas. There are
also tips on how to
achieve just about every single bonus. If you're still having
trouble, please read the
topic, "The Race to 84,000 points!" on the Game FAQs,
Spider-Man/GameCube
message board. There are several excellent tips within. Big
thanks to "PS2 4 Life",
"JediLink" and any others posting helpful information within
that thread.

NEXT UPDATE: It's quite possible that this will be the last
update to this guide,
since pretty much everything important is now covered. If
anything new and
completely delicious is found in the game, it will be added, but
it is doubtful that
anything noteworthy is still waiting to be discovered. If this
is the last update, thank
you all very much for your questions, comments and contributions
and thank you
for looking at my guide. Peace everyone.

BIRTH OF A HERO

Orphaned at a young age, Peter Parker lives in Queens, New York
with his beloved
Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Peter leads the life of a good-hearted,
yet solitary,
teenager making his way through high school.

On a school trip to a research institute, Peter Parker's class
is given a
demonstration of genetic research conducted on spiders. Peter is
bitten by one of the
genetically altered spiders. The next morning, Peter discovers
that suddenly his
vision is perfect and his previously scrawny body has become
muscularhe now
has incredible strength, and his hands mysteriously adhere like
glue to everything.

Peter gradually teaches himself to gain better control of his
powers. Initially, he uses
his ESP-like "Spider-Sense" and superhuman strength, speed and
agility to make
money in order to impress the lovely Mary Jane. However it is
only through the
tragic death of his uncle that Peter learns that "with great
power comes great
responsibility." It is these words that transform Peter Parker
from a teenager with
extraordinary powers into the amazing Spider-Man, a super-hero
out to protect the
city from a never-ending supply of perils.

Meanwhile, in a lab at OsCorp, Spider-Man's ultimate nemesis is
about to be
born

Are you up to the challenge?

you stop rotating (or rotate too slow), release any button, or
run out of webbing, the
target will be thrown, and the twirl stopped. The twirling enemy
will also become a
weapon, damaging anything he hits.

MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE: I go with Classic Controls because I'm
just more
used to them. Enhanced can provide you with more overall control
though so if you
are new to the game I suggest you begin by trying to use them so
you can master
them. Keep in mind that this FAQ is written using the Classic
Controls, although
that shouldn't make much of a difference.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
1. Secret Store
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

WHAT IS IT: The Secret Store is basically the backbone of the
replay value in
Spider-Man. It lets you unlock various things in the game by
either earning enough
points to unlock them, or by beating the game on a certain
difficulty level.

HOW DO I GET POINTS: Points in Spider-Man are awarded for the
way you
complete a level. You will always receive a base amount of
points on a level just for
completing it, but each level also has bonus points you can earn
by killing extra
enemies or not using pick-ups or various other methods. It all
depends on the level.
For more on what levels have what bonuses, see the Walkthrough.

ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT POINTS: Yes, there is. Points
are
cumulative, meaning you don't actually "spend" the points at the
store. When you
have earned 10,000 points, you unlock the first secret. When you
earn another
10,000 (for a total of 20,000) you unlock the second secret.
Also, when you earn
points on a lesser difficulty level, then get them on the same
level, but on a higher
difficulty setting, you will only earn the difference between
the two. For example,
you get 500 points for beating a level on Easy and you get 700
points for beating a
level on Normal. Beat the same level on both difficulties, and
you will only actually
earn 700 points for it. In this way, the game pretty much forces
you to play the
higher difficulties if you want to earn the more expensive
secrets. Finally, the score
values vary depending on the difficulty setting you use. On
Easy, you will receive
500 points for each bonus, on Normal, you will receive 700
points and on Hero and
Super Hero, you will receive 1,000 points.

WHAT CAN I GET: When you have earned 10,000 points, you will
receive a bonus
training level called Pinhead Bowling. For more information on
this, see the
Training and Pinhead Bowling sections of this FAQ.

When you have earned 20,000 bonus points, you will receive a
bonus movie
featuring Vulture. This can be viewed in the GALLERY/MOVIE
VIEWER menu of
the game.

When you have earned 30,000 bonus points, you will receive a
bonus movie
featuring Shocker. This can be viewed in the GALLERY/MOVIE
VIEWER menu
of the game as well.

When you have earned 50,000 bonus points, you will an infinite
supply of webbing.
This also gives the Goblin an infinite supply of pumpkin bombs.

When you have beaten the game on the Easy difficulty setting or
higher, you will
earn the ability to play the game through as Peter Parker.

When you have beaten the game on the Easy difficulty setting or
higher, you will
also earn the ability to play the game using Spider-Man's
wrestling costume.

When you have beaten the game on the Normal difficulty setting
or higher, you will
earn the ability to play the game using the costume Alex Ross
designed for Spider-
Man. This secret will also show Green Goblin in Alex Ross'
design. I personally
think this Goblin is much better looking than the final one

When you have beaten the game on the Hero difficulty setting or
higher, you will
earn the ability to play the game through as Green Goblin (Harry
Osborn). This is
the only of the extra 'costumes' (including the Cheats ones)
that actually changes
the game. The Green Goblin not only controls much differently
than Spider-Man,
he also has completely new dialogue throughout the levels.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
2. Cheats
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

WHERE DO I ENTER THE CHEATS IN: Go to SPECIALS and then CHEATS.

Enter the cheat exactly as it appears to use it. A laugh and the
screen dimming for a
second will confirm correct code entry.

HOW DO I DISABLE A CHEAT: Some will be disabled automatically if
you shut
off the game and then turn it back on. Any of them can be
de-activated by
reentering the same code in again at the CHEATS menu.

ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT CHEATS: Try not to use them. They're really
there
just in case you really can't do the task, but I guarantee with
a little persistence, that
you will be able to overcome anything in Spider-Man. The only
ones I really use are
the various fun skins for Spidey (that also have no effect on
game play just like
Spidey's alternate costumes).

WHAT ARE THE CHEATS: To the left is the code you enter at the
CHEATS menu
and to the right is the effect that the cheat will have on the
game.

ARACHNID This cheat will enable Pinhead Bowling, have all
levels unlocked in
the Level Warp, have all movies unlocked in the Movie Viewer and
have all
Production Art unlocked.

IMIARMAS This cheat will unlock all levels in the Level Warp.

HEADEXPLODY This cheat will enable the Pinhead Bowling
training level.

ORGANICWEBBING This cheat will give you infinite webbing as
Spider-Man
and infinite pumpkin bombs as Green Goblin.

CHILLOUT This cheat makes it so that Green Goblin's glider
(try saying that
three times fast) will never overheat.

ROMITAS This cheat will enable a "Next Level" option under the
Pause Menu.
Whenever you select it, you will skip to the next level.

KOALA This cheat will enable all Combat Controls.

GIRLNEXTDOOR This cheat lets you play in a Mary Jane skin.

HERMANSCHULTZ This cheat lets you play in a Shocker skin.

KNUCKLES This cheat lets you play in a thug model skin.

STICKYRICE This cheat lets you play in a different thug model
skin.

THUGSRUS This cheat lets you play in yet another different
thug model skin.

REALHERO This cheat lets you play in a police officer skin.

CAPTAINSTACEY This cheat lets you play in a helicopter pilot's
skin.

SERUM This cheat lets you play in a scientist skin.

FREAKOUT This is another different skin. It is of a dude who
attacks you in the
Big Brawl training level. Don't know his name though.

DODGETHIS This cheat will make the action go into slow motion
whenever you
land a powerful blow on an opponent.

SPIDERBYTE This cheat makes Spider-Man small.

GOESTOYOURHEAD This cheat gives Spider-Man a big head and big
feet. His
shadow is even affected by this cheat. Gotta love those small
details.

JOELSPEANUTS This cheat gives the enemies big heads and feet.

UNDERTHEMASK This cheat enables a first person view. While
this is hardly
practical, it is probably the coolest of all the cheats.

CONTRIBUTE: If you have any cheats that aren't listed here,
please mail them on
in to me. You will receive proper credit for the contribution.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
3. Green Goblin
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

The ultimate secret in this game is possibly one of the coolest
in any game out there.
It's pretty tough to unlock fair and square, but once you do,
you'll be happy. If you
don't know what secret I'm talking about by now, go sit in the
corner. You're not
allowed to play here anymore. Of course, it's the Green Goblin.
You actually control
Harry in the Goblin suit instead of Norman. And you actually
have every single one
of the Goblin's attacks. Well, minus his 2 combo attacks and the
move I
affectionately dubbed the "Grabby".

Goblin is actually a lot better than Spidey in just about every
aspect. He is much
different though. The only thing they really share in common are
the combo attacks.
They have exactly the same ones. Also, you play through the
entire game as Goblin,
even levels that don't really fit for him. They try and tie it
together with a half done
plot, which is nice, but it isn't fleshed out enough. But who
really cares when you're
playing as this dude anyway? The following are a list of his
unique attacks and
abilities, also telling you what they do.

B Button This button works exactly the same as Spider-Man's.
Punch, pick up
civilians, activate switches etc.

A Button Another that's the same as Spider-Man's. Jump, tap
twice to double
jump.

X Button Guess what? This still kicks, just like Spidey.

Y Button Now here's something new. While holding this down on
the ground and
moving, you will execute a Turbo Run. While doing this, you move
so fast that fire
follows you. Not only can this damage enemies, but you can also
jump considerably
further when you are Turbo Running. The only downside is that
the Turbo Run eats
your "web" meter away pretty quickly.

Z Button It seems that Goblin does not have a look around
mode. That's fine
though. What he gets in return more than makes up for it.
Pressing this button will
bring out a Razor Bat. You can have up to 5 out at any given
time. These little bad
boys will automatically follow you around and attack any enemy
nearby. You can
destroy them manually by holding the L Button and pressing Z.
And another thing
to note about these, they act in the same way as Spider-Man's
webbing when it
comes to repairing damaged structures. Just call some out when
you're standing
next to something that needs to be repaired and they will get to
work right away.
Oddly enough, they use webbing to do this

L Button This button, in conjunction with nearly every other
button on the pad,
will produce various pumpkin bomb attacks. These can be used
while you are on the
ground, or the glider. These attacks take out a good deal of
your "web" meter of
course. In addition to the aforementioned use with the Z Button,
here are the other
uses this multi-purpose trigger has.

L + B This will throw a single Pumpkin Bomb. Goblin throws it
upward and it
descends downward. Simple enough. This is best used while on the
ground.

L + A This will throw a bomb, which when descending downwards,
splits into 5
bombs. This attack is creatively known as the Multi Bomb.

L + X This attack throws a single, homing Pumpkin Rocket. It's
great while in the
air or on the ground.

L + Y The Multi Homing is awesome. It throws a single bomb
straightforward,
which then splits into two, each of those two, then splitting
into another two, for a
total of four. To top it off, the 4 bombs are all homing.

R Button This button activates your glider. A couple of things
to note; like Spider-
Man's web slinging, holding the R Button down makes you go
faster. As a matter of
fact, you have to hold it down to even move! Pressing A while on
it will make you
jump off. You have an overheating meter, which will be explained
in a second and
meters for two different weapons, which will also be explained
in a second.

R + A While holding R, pressing A down will activate a Turbo.
This will make you
go MUCH faster. You'll notice that as you use it, the top meter
for the glider will
slowly begin to fill. This is your overheat meter. Once it has
filled up, you will be
unable to use any of the glider's weapons or Turbo until it goes
all the way down. To
stop from overheating, simply stop using this move once you're
about to overheat.

B Button while on glider This will activate the guns. Just
like Turbo, this can
overheat the glider. Watch that meter.

X Button while on glider This will trigger your Homing Blades.
This is probably
the Goblin's most useful attack as they can take opponent's out
quickly. You'll
notice that as you use them, the purple meter next to the glider
goes down. If you
use too many at once, it will take a long time for the Homing
Blades meter to refill,
so be careful.

Y Button while on glider This will attack with the Inferno
Bombs. This move
drops a fiery bomb straight down. So it's best used against
opponents out doors. Try
using it indoors close to the ground and you will be damaged.
This move has a
meter, just like the Homing Blades so be careful not to overuse
it.

That's pretty much all there is to know about the Green Goblin.
If you're having
trouble getting any of the bonuses on a level as Spider-Man,
come back again once
you have earned the Goblin and 9 times out of 10, it will be
much easier to earn with
him. Have fun!

4. Glitches
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

WHAT'S A GLITCH: A glitch is something that slips by quality
control. Something
in the game that happens and isn't supposed to. This is bad for
the developer. But
good for gamers. We thrive on these glitches sometimes. Finding
a rare one is like
finding $100 bill on the street to some of us. The main reason I
put this FAQ
together was to share the one glitch I found on my own with you
all.

HOW DO I KNOW I'VE FOUND A GLITCH: You'll know when something
happens that doesn't usually. You'll have to use your own
discretion to decide
what's a glitch and what is a secret. It should be pretty easy
to tell the difference
though.

OKAY, I'M DYING TO KNOW THE GLITCHES: All right ladies and
gentlemen,
but first, a little disclaimer. I take absolutely no
responsibility for any damage
these glitches may cause to your game, memory card, system, you,
your family, your
friends, your house, your toilet paperany damage they might
cause. The chances
of them causing any are unlikely, but it could happen so the
disclaimer has been
laid.

CHAOS Okay, so this one isn't really a glitch. But since this
section will probably
be rather bare, I decided to add it anyway. In some of the
outdoor levels, you will
notice the word 'CHAOS' mysteriously form in the middle of the
air. What could
this mean? An ominous warning? A reference to that water dude in
Sonic
Adventure? Or are the developers just screwing with us? I'll let
you be the judge.

FLOATING PEOPLE: Dan, "DJGKoRn2000" contributes this glitch.
Whenever a
character, Spider-Man or any enemy, jumps and slides down
against a wall, they
are prone to fall down very slowly, being completely vulnerable
to attacks during
this moment of time. You can get in some good free shots during
this time. He points
out that it happens a lot during the battle with Shocker, which
can be useful for
beating him. Also, Scorpion tends to have this happen a good bit
as well. It
shouldn't be too hard to recreate this glitch, but when an enemy
does it, it is more
random since you don't control their jumping habits. Thanks
Dan!

BASIC TRAINING GLITCH: Logan Polk sends in this little ditty.
During Basic
Training, immediately after you have defeated the enemy during
the fighting
training, cling to the wall of the door he came out of before
the cut scene begins.
When it does begin, if all went right, Peter Parker will be
shown clinging to nothing
in mid-air during the cut scene.

SEARCH FOR JUSTICE GLITCH: Brandon Stumbaugh writes in with a
glitch on
the first level. Here's what he had to say. "First off, this is
a glitch I found in the first
level. I was crawling around the building you start on, and just
simply couldn't
crawl anymore. I could swing past that spot, and on the roof I
could go farther, but
it was like a straight line down the side I could not cross.
I've tried to recreate it, and
couldn't. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe I'm at the wrong
building."

THE AMAZING DEAD CELL-PHONE GUY: This glitch comes to use from
"Kulock", apparently a fellow human (moogle?) who, like me, has
a deep-seated
hatred for cell-phones. Well, okay, I lied. I'm probably the
only person, but I just
don't want to seem like such a freak! Stop the pain! Oh dear
God, stop the
nevermind. Anyway, here's what "Kulock" has to say about
activating this glitch.

"I was at the point just after you help the cop and the weak
bystander in the subway
(while they fend off the Shocker's goons). Shocker toasts the
pillar, and you have to
save that bystander on the cell phone again. Well, I knew to
pick him up, but didn't
know where to take him. I just ran a bit further, up the
escalator. The pillar fell
after a moment. I then saw the red Spider mark where I was
supposed to drop him
off, and so I did. "Civilian Saved", he runs off. But no second
wave of goons shows
up. I wait, I look around for a bit, and then all of a sudden,
it cuts to a shot of the
bystander, dead on the ground, but with no one around (no goon
seemed to have
beaten him up), he's just suddenly dead near a wall," Mission
Failed". I know there
are concerns about cell phone cancer, but I didn't think it
acted that fast..."

RIDE THE TRAIN: This glitch comes from "Masterastrobeat". As I'm
getting quite
tired and lazy, I'm just going to copy and paste what he has to
say.

"Hello I've just read your strategy guide for Spider-Man, and I
have a glitch for
you. I have the Xbox version of the game though. When facing
Shocker in the
tunnels, after he runs off and you have to pull the lever to get
the train car out of the
way, you can get inside the car. I found this by accident of
course. The way I did it
was, I didn't pull the lever and was crawling on the wall
parallel with the top of the
car, kind of getting as close to the bottom of the car as I
could while trying to get in
the door to follow Shocker, and all of a sudden I dropped inside
it. I thought I'd
never get out, but eventually did, by trying to crawl parallel
to the top of the car,
again. But it did take a while to get out and I did end up in
the tunnel I was
supposed to be in, all without moving the subway train car."

INSTA-DEATH: There seems to be an odd glitch in the "Air Duel
With Vulture"
level that kills you instantly. Begin by forcing Vulture to
land. Now, zip all the way
up the top of the building. (As if you were going for the gold
combo icon at the top)
Note that you can't swing up here, as it is too high. When you
have zipped up to the
very top, occasionally, if you zip onto the "cone" part, you
will go right through it.
The screen will go black and there will be a whooshing sound,
then you'll get the
Game Over screen.

GREEN GOBLIN GLITCH (G3) This one takes place in the level,
"The Offer".
After you have damaged Green Goblin (hereafter referred to as
GG) enough while
in the air, he will go down into a building. You will then take
place in some fisticuffs
with him. Eventually, he will go out the door in this building
and hop back on his
glider. Your goal, during this is to gauge his life meter and
determine when he is
going to get back on his glider. It may take a couple of tries.
When you finally can
tell, go back and do it until he's about to take off. Then, make
sure you are web
swinging when the cut scene of GG running to his glider plays.
If all goes right, you
will swing right through the wall during the cut scene and be
clinging to the outside
of the building when it ends. Now, GG should be completely
frozen in his tracks in
mid-air. WARNING: The game seems to think when GG is frozen that
you aren't
anywhere near him. So it will begin to warn you that you need to
engage in combat
with him before he runs off. It will shortly thereafter show a
cut scene of him
running off, calling you boring. So just use this for fun, not
when you are actually
trying to beat the level.

STICKY SCORPION: Kayne Schwarz sends in a glitch for the level,
"Scorpion's
Rampage". He says that by swinging repeatedly off the pillars
with the yellow
netting, Scorpion will eventually get stuck within the pillar,
only his tail being
visible. Note that you will not be able to attack him while he's
stuck in the pillar.

FUN WITH RAZOR-BATS: Rob Myers ([email protected]) sends in a
glitch for
the level "The Razor's Edge". So, take it away Rob!

"In the level 'Razor's Edge' find a building with an overhang.
The construction site
will do, but there are a couple others. What you're looking for
is an alcove that has
bit of a roof, so that the razorbats' angle of attack is limited
to straight in front of
you.

The first glitch is that I managed to completely lose the
razorbats before I had
defeated enough of them to trigger the next cutscene. I ended up
swinging around
the city for a while and eventually found them to resume the
fight, but it gained me
time to find more health powerups.

If they do find you under the overhang, you'll find that their
attack pattern becomes
much clearer. Basically they hover around you in a cloud, while
one zips in to attack
at a time. When you're swinging, the cloud swings with you,
making it seem like
they are a bigger threat than they are. But with enough cover,
only one can zip in on
you at a time while the rest kind of hang back and watch. You
know, like baddies in
a Bruce Lee movie who surround him but only attack one at a
time? This gives you
lots of time to just nail them with impact webbing.

Thirdly, I found that another time under the same overhang GG
spotted me and
hovered in the air some distance away. Next to him was a single
glowing spot in the
sky that camera lock indicated was a razorbat. I nailed it with
impact webbing, and
there was animation of one falling, but the glowing spot in the
sky remained. Then I
noticed that every time I nailed that immovable "single"
razorbat, another was
taken off the total. I knocked down about 20 or so that way,
without them attacking
me."

DISCLAIMER: Glitches are as rare to re-create, as they are to
make happen in the
first place. So if you've been trying and trying to make the
above glitches happen
and they just won't, don't freak out and send me hate mail
saying how the thing
doesn't work. Chances are, just about all of the above are very
hard to make
happen again, so please, attempt them with patience.

CONTRIBUTE: Got a weird and wacky glitch no one else seems to
know or care
about? I may not know either, but I do care! Please send them in
and they will be
posted here. You will receive proper credit of course. And
please people, do not just
make up things and send it in. Thank you.

III. TRAINING LEVELS
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
1. Basic Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

You'll play through Basic Training as Peter Parker, apparently
discovering your
powers for the very first time. Your guide will beBruce
Campbell?? Why? I
dunno, but it sure is cool. Just follow your compass to each "?"
and follow Bruce's
instructions and you will do fine. This isn't a competitive
training level, unlike most
of the others.

"Jameygus" points out that Bruce Campbell voices the training
guide as he and the
director of the Spider-Man movie were good friends.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
2. Basic Combat
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

In this level, you will fight a seemingly endless supply of
thugs in the very ring in
which Spidey whooped up on poor BoneSaw. The key here is the
same as every
other fighting situation. Combo, roll out, combo roll out. Try
to keep your combos
varied. For a real cheap win, turn on organic webbing and sit up
on the roof and
shoot off impact webbing, killing an endless stream of nobodies.
Either way, this
level was really just meant so that you could test your acquired
combos. But you can
win it. After killing off enough thugs, BoneSaw will appear for
a rematch. He isn't
really hard at all. In fact, all he seems to do are straight
punches. But, he takes a
LOT of hits to go down. It's hard to get off a combo without him
hitting you too.
The best strategy I've come up with his to jump punch him, then
hit him with a P, P,
P combo and repeat. He never blocks so don't worry. Like I said,
he isn't tough, he
just takes patience. Congratulations if you win this mode
because you get no reward
for beating it.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
3. Basic Air Combat
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

This one has you swinging through the skyline, destroying Goblin
targets. It's not
hard to complete at all, but getting a top time is trickier. As
with just about all
swinging, using the Enhanced Controls is better. If you want the
best time, you're
gonna have to work. The green and blue targets can be destroyed
with a simple
swinging kick. This is easier said than done though. You need to
make a near
perfect run, not missing a swing or kick. Then, when you get to
the red targets, you
will find your swing kick useless as it takes more than one hit.
The only way you can
hit these targets and even hope to make it through quick enough
is to shoot four
webs at them, then punch them. Still, the run will need to be
near perfect and it will
be very tough. If you try this, then I commend you because it is
tough. Good luck.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
4. Target Switching
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

This is a doozy. This training level is kinda dumb because it is
too hard to switch
between targets in the first place. This level just makes that
fact even clearer. You
will have to lock onto musical notes and hit them with impact
webbing in the order
they are played. Better have a good memory, because it will take
forever to lock
onto one target then get to another. I don't like this level at
all. Do yourself a favor
and forget it.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
5. Basic Swing Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

Okay, for starters, I'm gonna assume you know to put the
controls on Enhanced
mode. But heck, this one is so easy that you can even use
Classic and still get the top
place. The pattern of the level is right turn, left turn and so
on. Some turns are
wider than others, but most of them you can speed right through.
Just go do this
one, you don't need too much help here.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
6. Advanced Swing Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

This one is a little tougher, but I still don't think it's
nothing we can't handle. If
you've mastered how to turn without losing velocity in Enhanced
Controls mode,
then you can do this, piece of cake. The layout is almost
exactly the same as the
Basic level, but the corridors are much narrower. If you're
really good, you can get
the top time using Classic Controls here. Just try this one a
few times and you will
get the hang of it.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
7. Expert Swing Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

This one is, obviously, much tougher. But it is still
manageable; especially if you
mastered the other 2 swing trainings first. There are new
obstacles to deal with here
though. You will have to go up inclines often. If you are
swinging in accelerated
mode, you wont make it up these without clinging to a wall. That
spells doom! So
when you see a sharp uphill, slow down those swings mister. If
you come to a place
that is telling you to go up but it looks completely impossible
to pass, then break
your swing and turn around. Yep, there are loops here, as Bruce
told you. Other
than those two things, make sure you aren't swinging too high to
the ceiling, or you
will crawl onto it. But really that applies to all the levels.
Try it a few times and you
should get the top place.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
8. Basic Zip Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

I think this level is a little too forgiving. I got top place my
first try with tons of
screw-ups. But I'm not too good at aiming my zip. (No dirty
jokes please). Just
follow the arrows, what else can I say. Always be aiming in the
way of the next
arrow and justgo. I dunno. If I can beat it, you can.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
9. Advanced Zip Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

Once again, I chose to completely ignore the precise zip aim of
the look around
mode. And to good effect. Again, this is a very forgiving
course. I got top place on
this my first try as well! Maybe I'm better with my zip than I
thought. Or maybe the
developers knew these levels would be hard because of the
disorientation involved
with zipping around so they made them easier. Whatever the case,
again follow the
arrows and that's about all I can say. Make sure to break your
zip before you hit a
wall. This course is slightly twistier than the basic one so be
alert.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
10. Expert Zip Training
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

This one ain't so bad either. It is tougher than the first two
though. The first room is
just a huge mess, with multiple paths, many of which are
completely unnecessary.
So if you take a turn that didn't do much, restart and try
again. When you finally
leave that room, it's more clear sailing. You'll then find that
you are zipping on
conviently placed towers. The trick here is to zip on the
farthest away tower so you
can go forward faster. As always, break your line before hitting
the wall. So you can
use look around mode if you want, but I still prefer good
old-fashioned intuition.
Don't forget when you see the finish zone that you will have to
double jump to get
in. And for me, I think this was easier than the other two zip
trainings.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
11. Swing Rings
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

This level is actually quite easy once you know how to swing. I
did it with Classic
controls, no problem. Not only did I get the top place, I got it
quite handily (2:01).
Basically, just accelerate when possible, but don't worry too
much about it. I didn't
accelerate most of the way through and still won. If you see a
ring appear above you,
then definitely stop accelerating. If you pass by a ring, don't
bother trying to turn
around and pass through again as you have to pass through them
the correct way. If
you've done all the other swing trainings, you'll get this on
your first try.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
12. Swing Platforms
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

Unlike Swing Rings, acceleration is important here. You'll never
make it if you
don't accelerate at possible opportunities. So do just that. As
always, stop
accelerating when a platform appears above you so you can climb
faster. The
platforms get smaller and smaller so be mindful of that. Other
than that, it will
probably take you a few tries to get top place on this, but it
shouldn't take too many.
It's not all that tough.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
13. Big Brawl
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

Now this is tough! You have to defeat several waves of enemies
in the time allotted
and so on. Weird dudes, razors, light mechs and HKs attack you
all at the same
time. I don't really have a good strategy for this except to
stick and move. I just
don't know, I can not get a good score on this level.

"Black Knight" writes in with the tip to just use your Web Dome.
If you don't have
infinite webbing on though, this strategy obviously won't be
quite as useful.

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^
14. Pinhead Bowling
#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

You'll have to unlock this bizarre training level before you can
play it (see the
'Secret Store' section of this FAQ). In it, you use Spider-Man
as a human bowling
ball to swing down a lane and kick human bowling pins. You can
play up to 4
players and it is actually a decent time waster. It's possible
to bowl a perfect game,
though hard. To do so, you have got to do the same thing every
time. There are
different places you can hit the pinheads that will make them
strike every time, but
the best I've found, is just to the right of the middle pinhead.
Just as you are almost
above him, being your kick and kind of veer to the left. With
practice, you can bowl
a strike every time. Challenge your friends to a game and
humiliate them. Have fun.

Here we are at the final training grounds. There's good reason
it is the final too. It's
pretty tough. Here, you will have to act very quickly and never
make a mistake.
Because each time you stick to any surface, even the floor, you
will have 5 seconds
added to your time. You will have to use all your skills to zip
and swing. Personally,
I swing most of the way through, though when an opportunity
arises that the zip is
better, I take it.

"TopVideoGamer" contributes that at a point where you're
supposed to swing
through a tunnel, it is quicker to go underneath the tunnel and
zip through instead.

IV. WALKTHROUGH
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

PREFACE: I won't differentiate between the difficulty settings
(unless otherwise
noted) as the only differences are that the enemies take more
hits to go down and the
items will be in different places within the level sometimes.
It's best to assume this
guide is written for the Normal difficulty level however, as
that is what I played
through mainly when having all of this in mind. I have beaten it
on Hero however,
but the same basic tactics apply. There are a couple
self-explanatory bonuses, such
as Level Completion. And Style, which is given for mixing up
your attacks and
being varied. You won't get any Style points for doing the same
thing over and over.
A Perfect bonus means you got a run without ever getting hit; no
easy task by any
means. The easiest way to get a perfect is to earn the organic
webbing and use a lot
of impact webbing. This is cheap, but if you must, you must. I
will provide a few
small tips on getting perfects in the levels I can. Also, keep
in mind that you don't
have to earn all the bonuses in one run. That would be
impossible. Anyone with
strategies, please CONTRIBUTE. So, without much further ado,
here we go.

As soon as the level begins, you will find your first gold
spider icon, which will grant
you a new combo move. This one will give you the Field Goal (B,
B, X). Now, you'll
want to start the level by getting the secret bonus, which will
involve a crazy roof
touring lady and her lost purse.

Begin the process by swinging to the first tall building to your
left, from the start of
the level. It will have kind of orange colored windows. Once
atop it, you must defeat
the two thugs, then the crazy lady will tell you she lost her
purse on a different
rooftop. To get the purse, head north from this rooftop, and
just below you, you'll
see a billboard advertising Latvania. Ignoring your urge to
visit the place
immediately, scour around the rooftop of the building that this
sign is attached to
and defeat the two thugs. Grab the purse in one of the niches
(don't ask, just search
the roof) and return it to the lady.

The rest of the level is a cinch. Just follow your compass and
height meter and beat
up the thugs. There will usually be two per a rooftop.
Eventually, you will beat scare
some answers out of one of the thugs and he will direct you to
the warehouse. Just
follow your compass there, and walk into the spider icon to end
this level.

Getting a perfect on this level is easy if you do it the cheap
way. Just swing by, and
do a homing punch. Wash, rinse, repeat. Watch out for the guys
with guns though.
Style points are awarded for the way you do combat. Mix your
attacks up instead of
doing the same old thing to get the goods. Remember this from
now on, because I
won't mention it for later levels.

"JediLink" confirms my sneaking suspicion that the "Combat"
bonus is for getting
rid of every bad guy in the level. He also points out that it is
a good idea to wait until
you have defeated every other thug in the level before you
defeat the ones on the
roof with the fleeing guy. So start searching through the level
and beat those darn
thugs up!

Also, I discovered that there is another combo icon in this
level shortly after I wrote
the first version of the guide. To get it, from the building you
start the level on, start
web slinging to your right and as high as you can go. Pass the
"Bortolux" building
and down below you, you will see a billboard for "Latvania".
Climb to the top of the
building that this billboard is on and directly in front of you
will be a very tall
building and to the left of it, a shorter one. It has white
lines going down it and those
orange windows. Get on the roof of that building. (The shorter
one). On top, you
will find a maze like corridor, similar to the one where the
lady wanting her purse is
hidden. I don't quite remember where, but just search every nook
and cranny on
this roof top to find the Web Hit (B,B,Y).

Stealth Bonus
Secret(s) Found
Style

The first thing to worry about here is getting the Backflip Kick
(B,X,X) combo. As
you run out the first door, it is directly in your path so you
can't miss it.

Now, the stealth bonus is easier to get than you would think.
First, run out the
second door, to the place with the car in the middle, but make
sure to stop once out
the door. Make sure you are still in that shadows. You can tell
you are hidden in
shadows when Spider-Man's face is completely blue. Now, zip up
onto the ceiling.
Crawl forward, across the room, towards the garage door. Stop
when you are fairly
close to it. And make sure you remain in the shadows all the
time. Your goal is to
drop down at just the right time and enter the garage door
without being seen. If
you enter the regular door next to it, you can also sneak up on
an enemy in here.
Anyway, once the guard below you and the one patrolling the
upper catwalk are
turned so that they can't see you, drop down and run for the
door. Once you're
through, you are successful. Make sure that after you are in the
door, the guards in
that room still don't see you. It doesn't matter that any other
guards see you, just
the ones in the stealth room.

Next up is the secret bonus. This one is simple. Right after the
stealth room, in this
hallway, before you leave it, you will see a stack of wood
boxes. Just jump through
the opening at the upper left side of them and it will tell you
that you found a secret
area. Badda bing, that's it. And umbeat up those pesky thugs of
course.

After you go through the door, you'll be in a room where you are
attacked by
multiple thugs. If you are getting pounded, don't be afraid to
web sling away to the
ceiling to regroup. Make sure to take out the guy in the red
with the gun before
anyone else. Directly afterwards, you will have to go around the
side of a semi truck.
As soon as you step forward a little ways, your spider senses
will go off, so step back
because that forklift ahead of you is ready to squish you. After
dodging it, beat up
the thug and go back there. Stand on the grating and zip upward.
From now on,
remember that almost every time you see a grating on the floor
like this, it will most
likely have a duct you can zip up into directly above.

Take the first left in the duct. If you go forward, you'll get
fried. Now, drop down
and press the B button near the flashing red button to shut off
the power in that
duct (convenient that they have power buttons to shut off the
practical cut electrical
wires nearby). Anyway, go back up into the duct and continue
past the previously
electrified hall.

You'll find that you need a fuse to operate the control panel
that will open a door.
Some dumb thug yanked it out, so you'll have to beat the crap
out of him of course.
Go forward into the next room and a couple thugs will assault
you. Make note of the
grating in this room, but don't go up into the duct just yet. Go
into another room to
be attacked by, you guessed it, more thugs. Pull a Mr. T on
them.

As you try to enter the door, you'll hear the dumb thug taunt
you, saying you aren't
getting the fuse. Head through the open vent to the left of the
door and all the way to
the end then shut off another power button. Go back to the
grating you made note
of earlier, follow the duct through, and beat the thug down for
the fuse. This thug is
stronger than the average one, but not by a lot.

Go back to the control panel and activate that sucker. Exit back

to the room with
the locked door via the duct in this room. You'll be assaulted
by numerous thugs,
but it's nothing you can't handle. Once you've beaten them, run
towards the open
door to end this level.

At the beginning of this level, zip up into the duct right away.
Follow the duct up
until you get to a hole you can drop down into. Stop right there
mister. We want to
go for a secret in this level, and it will involve a little
stealth. Head to the left of this
hole and you will come upon another hole. Now drop down. You
have to work
quickly in this room or you will be seen. And if you are, the
secret is blown. So,
here's what to do.

After dropping down, step forward a little bit and zip up onto
the ceiling in this
room. Immediately start crawling forward, and hug the wall to
your right as much
as you can. Continue hugging the wall all the way around, until
you see a closed
door directly across from you. Crawl towards that door (don't
zip or you'll be
spotted) and crawl down the wall in front of it. It will open up
and not only will you
avoid fighting extra goons, you will also receive the secret
bonus. But that's not all.
In the room, you will collect the Advanced Web Dome (X + Right
on the D-Pad
twice). What could be better? Proper credit goes to "JediLink"
of the Game FAQS
message boards for being the first to discover this tricky
secret.

After getting that, go back out into the room and either fight
the goons or go into the
room directly to your left as you exit. You will see steam
shooting out so slow your
role for a minute. Activate look around mode and aim for the
wall on the opposite
side. When the steam clears, zip on over there. Continue down
the hallway and
collect another gold spider icon, this time the Handspring
(X,A,X). Go into the next
room and prepare to face the wrath of loads of thugs. While
waxing these suckers,
make sure to put priority on the guys with guns. And don't be
afraid to hightail it to
higher ground if you're getting your butt kicked. Once you've
defeated enough guys
to get the key, use it on the locked door in the corner and move
on.

Continue down a hallway until you come into a room with stairs
leading up and
some steam shooting. You could take the stairs and get burnt by
steam like a stupid
normal man, but you're not a man. You're a Spider-Man! Stand in
the middle of
the room and zip right up. Follow the hallways to your first
boss encounter. Time to
extract some payback on this punk.

BOSS FIGHT: Uncle Ben's Killer

You've got a couple of options in this battle. One is cheap and
time consuming while
the other is quicker and more dangerous. Or you can mix the two.
Either way
though, your first step will be going into the main room and
zipping up onto the
ceiling. One option is to continually shoot impact webbing at
the guy from the
ceiling. He will dodge a lot of shots, but get hit by a few as
well. You can collect the
blue spider icon to refill your webbing and start the process
over again as well. Also
note that he will shoot you occasionally while doing this. But
it won't be as bad as
taking a head on hit on the ground.

The other option is to wait on the ceiling until he turns his
back, then to drop down
and combo him. Don't bother trying to combo him more than once,
as he will begin
dodging. Tying him up in webbing won't work either.

I personally just kept impact webbing him until I ran out, then
dropped down and
whupped on him. It's your decision though. Either way, once he
is dead, this level is
over.

Also on a side note, getting the time bonus on this level isn't
very difficult. Just skip
all the battles in first room and only fight in the second room
until you get the key.

This level begins with some basic "training". Your first task is
to swing forward,
break your line and swing in the opposite direction. Yawn. Easy
stuff. The next one
is to lock onto the target in the air while swinging by. Ho-hum.
Just follow your
compass to the target. After that, you'll have to lock on and
shoot webbing at the
target. Thankfully this will be the last of these boring tasks.
Follow your compass
back to the beginning of the level and walk into the spider icon
to really begin the
level.

You will now have to fight off a slew of light mechs. First you
will fight just one.
Then two. Then three. And so on. The best way to knock these
guys out is with a
single swinging kick. You can try other methods if you can't get
the timing for a
kick down, but if you're serious about getting the perfect in
this level, you will have
to do the swinging kick. The light mechs have a laser beam
attack that is absolutely
brutal on the higher difficulties. It can rip you apart in a
matter of seconds. You'll
want to be extra careful in a group of them. They also have an
attack that shoots an
energy ball at you. This isn't much of a concern. Also note that
you cannot jump
onto these guys backs, so don't bother trying.

To get the HKs bonus, you'll have to land on various building
and defeat the spider
like robots there. Sometimes, it takes a while for the HKs to
appear. You might have
to kill a few light mechs before they do. Just keep landing on
building until you find
some. HKs aren't much of a threat, but you'll want to be wary of
their
flamethrower attack. It can kill you quickly. Also, you'll be a
sitting target for the
light mechs while fighting the HKs, so move and dodge often.

To get a perfect, you will need to master that swinging kick!
Once you do, you can
blaze through the light mechs quickly and beat this level.

The first thing to take note of in this level is that the cops
aren't really in any danger
of dying. They fight back and they have a whole heck of a lot of
health. The one
civilian in this level who is getting beat up though, does not
fight back and has a
little less health. So when the time comes to rescue him and the
cop, you know your
priorities.

At the beginning of the level let the cop handle business for a
bit while you go and
get a new combo Head to the upper right as far as you can on the
screen and on the
ground is a gold spider icon for the Scissor Kick (X,B,X). Now,
go join forces with
the copper to lay a good old-fashioned ass whomping on the bad
guys. Once you've
saved him you will be shown a cut scene showing you where to
head to next. Go
there now grasshopper! And remember, the civilian takes
priority.

So you there yet? Good. You know the routine. Teach these dudes
that crime really
doesn't pay. Well, it does, but you will get your face kicked in
for doing it. Now, go
help the other cop in the main hallway out.

After you've helped him, you will be shown a cut scene in which
Spidey insults
Shocker's choice of garb, then you will have to save a civilian
before a crumbling
tower falls onto him. And of course the idiot doesn't even
notice the thing is about to
fall on him because he's you guessed it talking on his cell
phone. I tell ya' boys
and girls, those things are the cause of most problems today.
Anyway, run over and
grab him, then deposit him in the glowing circle on the ground
to save the day.

Beat up some more thugs, this time without having to worry about
watching another
guys health meter. After beating them in, watch the cut scene to
see where your next
target is, then go help the 2 guards fend off a swarm of thugs.
After doing that,
watch a cut scene and this level is over.

Getting the time bonus on this level couldn't be more
straightforward. It shows you
exactly where to go during every part of the level, it is
basically on rails. Just keep
trying until you are fast enough to beat it. Getting a perfect
score can be a little fun
though. A cool trick is to tie up the thugs with your webbing,
then let the cops
(slowly) beat the thug up. There will be a couple instances in
which there won't be
any cops around to do your dirty work though, but even then you
can just hang on
the ceiling and shoot impact webbing. No thugs in this level
carry guns. This method
will take a little patience, but it almost guarantees you a
perfect.

"JediLink" writes in telling how to get another gold combo icon
on this level. To get
it, head straight ahead from where you begin, and go down in the
tunnel between
the two staircases. The passages down here are all blocked off,
but climb the ceiling
to your left to collect the High Web Hit (B,X,Y) combo. Thanks
Jedi!

At the very beginning of this level, two thugs will come running
down the hall to get
you. Make quick work of them, and then move on. As soon as you
are out of the
hallway, pay attention to your left though, because there is a
machine gun toting
thug. He's slightly tougher than the average one. Dispose of
him, collect the key and
go out the door Shocker did.

Head across the water and into the hallway across from where you
came in. Move
forward a little and a couple of goons will give you a warm
welcome. Waste them.
Move into the next room. Take the thugs on this top tier out
before doing anything
else. Now drop down into the second tier and take out the
machine gun thug.
Activate the two switches here to open the door on the third
level. Jump down to the
third level and get rid of the stronger than average thug and
move on. Go across
another stream of water into a large room. Watch the cut scene.
You'll find that Vic
has started a water flow you can't get past. And he has ripped
the switch for it right
out of the way. Oh, that zany Vic.

Beat down the thugs in here. Collect the obviously placed Dive
Bomb (B, A, A)
combo. Then go into the room Vic ran into. Vic will run away
from you in here. And
as you chase him, several of his friends will pop out to greet
you. Give them a fist in
the face to say thanks, and then when you catch up to Vic, tie
him up in some
webbing to stop him. Combo him, tie him up and repeat till he
coughs up the valve.
When you have gotten the valve, return to the main room and
place it back in the
wall that Vic ripped it out of, then activate it. Once the water
has stopped flowing
out, run down the pipe. As you come out, you'll see a room above
where you came in
from. Crawl on up there, enter the room and activate the
switch.

Continue on until you reach a room where a door shuts behind you
when you enter.
A couple of guys on the ground attack you. Ignore them for now,
and go up top
where there are guys with guns and grenades. Kill them, then the
regular guys. The
door will open and in comes a new pack of goons. Some have
grenades, so be
careful. You'll get a key once they are all downed. Use it to
open a door at the very
bottom pit of this room, and activate the switch in there. This
will open a door.
Enter it to exit this level.

Getting a time bonus on this level is the same as all of them.
Work fast, know the
exact route and avoid any unnecessary battles. Getting that
Combat bonus is as
simple as laying the smack down on every single thug in the
level.

"JediLink" proves that activating that switch back at the room
you entered when
you came out of the giant pipe wasn't a waste of time and how to
get the secret
bonus in this level as well as showing me a new a combo to get!
Three birds in one
stone is nice. After pulling that switch, simply head back out
the way you came in
the giant pipe and drop down into the place that the water was
previously pouring
into. You should now see an open door. Head on in and grab the
Advanced Web
Gloves (Y + Left on the D-Pad twice.) This move will come in
handy for that extra
boost of power you may need to take out guys like Scorpion.

You've really got that blasted Shocker on the run now. You'll
begin this level facing
him down a long tunnel. Try entering and he will shoot a
shockwave at you. Try one
of the other 3 tunnels and he will just run to them and shoot
another shockwave at
you. So what's a spider to do? Precise web-zipping of course.
Stand in front of the
left-most of the four tunnels and go into look around mode. Aim
for the spot just
under the red light, where the black is. You'll have to be
pretty precise, so it might
take a few tries. If you land just right, you'll be in a
crossway between the tunnels
that is safe from Shocker's blasts. Continue zipping through
these safe spots until
your catch up with Shocker and he runs off.

Pull the level on the left to move the train. This will open up
a path for you to cross.
As soon as you get to the top, get ready to test your Spider
agility. You will see a
gold spider combo icon floating past in the rushing water
quickly. You only get one
chance to nab it, so act fast. This will give you the secret
bonus for the level as well
as the Uppercut (X,X,B) combo. Move onward into the next room,
and then from
there, the next. You will now confront Shocker since there is no
where left for the
little coward to run.

BOSS FIGHT: Shocker

Shocker doesn't really have that many moves and most are
predictable and easy to
avoid. When you are far away, he will shoot shocker rings at
you. Just be swinging
when he does this and you'll be fine. He also has a move that he
uses to hit the
ground and jump, which will also hurt you if you're in close
proximity. That's why
you will have to do this one combo at a time. His other move is
a whirlwind that
pulls you in. Very slowly. After he does this move is your
chance to attack, as he will
be dizzy. Also, when he's not doing that, use impact webbing to
knock a little on
him.

Getting a time bonus on this level isn't tough. Just go through
and beat Shocker.
Preferably fast of course. Getting a perfect isn't tough either.
During the boss fight,
just have patience. Avoid him and swing around, shooting impact
webbing
occasionally until he does the whirlwind move, then go in and
combo him once.

This level is all about Spider agility. You will be climbing a

while, the Vulture throwing grenades down at you. He has also
planted proximity
mines and spider bombs, which will follow you and then detonate.
There are three
different aggressions factors in this level. You begin the
second one when you see the
cut scene with the Vulture. You begin the third when the music
changes. You will
clearly notice the difference between the three. I won't provide
a step-by-step
walkthrough here, as it would be too hard to write down every
single level you climb
up and the bombs are somewhat random anyway. Just some general
tips.
Remember Vultures grenades bounce. The spider-bombs are easy to
out run by
zipping up. When you cant go up stairs anymore, make sure to
look around for an
opening in the middle of the tower. That's about all I can
provide you with. Getting
a perfect and a time bonus will be challenging, but it's in your
hands this time.
There aren't any specific tips I can give for either. Also, make
sure to collect the
Gravity Slam (B,B,A) combo. Good luck.

This is the first of the air chase levels. It is pretty easy
too. You'll chase Vulture
through the city, with him lobbing razor feathers at you and big
bomb things
occasionally. With the feathers, just break your line for a sec.
With the big
bombwell. The same thing. But he will use it sometimes when you
are close to
him, which is very hard to avoid. Note that you can't hurt
Vulture in this level. Also
note, when he shoots the billboard and the water tank, you don't
have a choice to
chase him or fix the things; you have to or the mission will
end. To fix them, simply
set down next to them and spray your webbing just as you would
to tie up a thug.

Getting a perfect and time on this level will probably come at
the same time that you
get the Vulture proximity bonus. For those who don't have common
sense, chasing
right behind Vulture is not the best route. He follows the same
path every time.
Learn it, and then cut him off at buildings. Just learn the path
young one, and you
will have all the bonuses here in no time.

BOSS FIGHT: Vulture

Getting a perfect on this level is so easy and so fun, that you
may want to do it
multiple times. In the air, you have several choices of attack.
But what would you
choose with an old man? Why, jumping on him and smacking the
crap out of him of
course. Just jump on Vulture while he is in the air and begin
punching him until he
flies off to the building. Land on the building and wail on him.
You only have time
for a few combos before he takes off again, and when he does, it
will hurt you if
you're in close range to him, so back off after a few. Also note
that, occasionally,
while he is in the air and you attempt to jump on him, he will
shoot a big bomb up at
you. I haven't found a way around it, but he doesn't seem to use
it often. If he does
it and you're going for perfect, just restart the level and try
again. Keep it up and
this old bird will fall before you can say "Squawk!"

"TopVideoGamer" also points us towards not one, but two gold
spider icons in this
level! To get the first, go onto the building that Vulture lands
on whenever you
damage him in the air enough. You'll see a pathway under the
gargoyle-like statues.
Just follow the path way around until you run into the Sting
(B,X,B) combo.

To get the second, you'll have to go to the very top of the
building. It's too high up to
web swing there however, and you will be electrocuted if you
don't wait until the
storm in the level subsides. Once it finally does, ground
Vulture (go ahead and beat
on him before hand though) then begin climbing the building. Get
to the very tippy
top of the building and you will earn the Dive Kick (B,A,X)
combo. Note that it will
get too narrow to zip up at the very top of the building
eventually and you will need
to crawl the rest of the way.

Teaming up with Scorpion? Sweet! Too bad he looks the way he
does. But that's
just my personal opinion. Anyway, he will fight as well, but it
is more like
babysitting than teaming up. Oh well.

First things first, let's get the secret. Head for the second
level of the parking lot and
enter the pathway leading up to the third level. Simply collect
the red spider icon
here to get the secret. You will have to get hit once before you
can collect it first of
course.

Other than that, getting the other bonuses is a breeze. You will
be fighting HKs
again, so use the same tactics as you did in OsCorp's Gambit
level. To get the
protected Scorpion bonus, just stick close to him and make sure
his health doesn't
get too low. Like I said, baby sitting. This is a piece of
cake.

"TopVideoGamer" also brought to my attention that you will
receive the Advanced
Web Dome in this level in the secret area instead of a health
icon if you did not first
get it in the "Birth Of A Hero" level. Thanks again Top!

Well, it's time to fight the lunatic. Fun, fun, fun. First thing
you need to do in this
level is collect the obviously placed combos, Tackle (X,A,A).
After that, it's time to
face Scorpion.

BOSS FIGHT: Scorpion

While on the ground, Scorpion will shoot lasers out of his tail
at you. These are fast
and he can hit you while you are comboing him. He will also take
a tail swipe
occasionally. He has a devastating whirlwind slash as well. And
he has an easy to
avoid tackle. With so many ground moves, you'll want to fight
unfair. You don't
have to fight like a man because remember, you are a
Spider-Man.

Take to the air, swinging, and shooting impact webbing as much
as you can. Once
you run out, you'll want to start with the fair fighting. The
key times to hit him are
when he has missed a tackle or the whirlwind slash. The tackle
is easily dodged or
jumped over and the slash is harder to see coming, but still
possible to dodge.
Whenever he does these, use a combo that jumps away, like the
Handspring or the
Dive-Bomb. For some reason, these moves seem to really hurt
him.

You'll want to try for the no pickups used bonus the first time
you fight him, but if
you can't get it, that's okay. There are 4 health pickups (2 in
the main room and 2 in
a hallway) so he shouldn't be too much of a problem. After
beating him, Scorpion
runs off, presumably to uncover the secret shadow government who
has been
putting the little people in his milk to spy on him.

This is a semi-boss fight, but I'm not going to count it as one
since the level has lots
of other elements. Your first objective is to save MJ. She's
really in no immediate
danger of dying. That blimp is going slooooow. Just watch that
once you pick her
up, Goblin doesn't shoot you to death. This rarely happens as he
isn't as aggressive
in this level as others, but it's a possibility. Once you've
safely deposited Mary Jane,
begin battling Goblin.

Really, I think all attacks work well on Goblin. The swinging
kick is the hardest to
connect with, and it does about the same damage as any other
move. Goblin's
attacks are many. He has all kinds of different pumpkin bombs he
will against you
depending on where you are. The nastiest one is when you are
chasing him and he
throws one that splits into multi bombs. Even still, that
doesn't do much. When he
zooms ahead and doubles back towards you, he is coming to shoot
you with his
machine guns, so watch out.

My favorite attack to use is jumping on him and wailing away. He
is harder to jump
onto than Vulture, but if you watch his patterns, you'll get
him. Also take note, he
throws you off and it does damage, so if you are trying to go
for the perfect bonus,
don't jump on him (unless you jump off quickly). Whatever you do
to hurt him, do
it until he runs away, then give chase. Note that you can't hurt
him while he is
running away.

When he tries to knock down the radio tower, just go web up all
4 ends of it. He will
attack you while you do it, so be careful. After he does that,
fight him some more,
and then give chase when he runs off again. When you are chasing
him this time, he
will plant air mines, so stay above him and they won't affect
you. When you reach
the bridge, web it up, fight some more, give chase and fight
some more. After that,
this level is over.

Getting a perfect on this level won't be easy at all. But
getting a time couldn't be any
more straightforward. You just do it as fast as you can. Well,
that's the same with
all time bonuses, but this one is kinda on rails more than most
stages. Good luck
with that perfect, because I know I haven't got it.

"JediLink" comes through again with a tip to make getting the
perfect here easier.
He used Green Goblin to do it, just evading the other Goblin and
playing "chicken"
with him, then pumping him full of spear shots. Using Goblin is
a good tactic for
any level in which you can't seem to do it as Spidey. He is a
lot easier to use overall.
Keep that in mind.

Once again, "JediLink" provides information leading straight to
the Low Web Hit
(X,X,Y). To obtain it, simply climb to the very top of the
building you begin the level
on and lo and behold, you'll find a gold spider icon. Note that
the altitude gets so
high that you can't web swing up here, so be sure Goblin doesn't
shoot you off the
side of the building.

BOSS FIGHT: Green Goblin

Okay, this time, I'll count it as a boss fight, since it's
focused on just the Goblin. In
the air, he is the same as last time. If you want that "Ride
Goblin" bonus (I won't
even go there) you will have to jump on him at last once. Go on
and try it. I use it
as my exclusive means of attack in this level. But once again,
use whatever attack
you like best.

When he lands, follow him into the building. He is much tougher
on the ground than
he is in the air, believe me. He still has all of his pumpkin
throwing abilities and he
has some really kick butt moves to take you down with. First
thing in the building,
collect the in-plain-sight Flip Mule (X,X,A) combo. Now, get
ready to
rumbleeeeeeee. No longer can you use a cheap swing by and punch.
He'll catch you
in mid-air and ground you. First things first, use up all your
impact webbing. Don't
be ashamed. Goblin is tough. Once you run out, your only chance
is to dodge his
combos and then nail him with one of your own. This is easier
said than done
though. He has a high roundhouse, low sweep combo that is quick
and mean and
that grabby move he uses to pull your butt out of the air. He
also has a mean punch
combo. The best part about these combos is that you can roll out
of any of them at
any time (except grabby) and nail him with your own. But you
will still take hits.
And if you aren't used to dodging, you have to learn it here.
And also, he will stop
his own combo if you dodge it sometimes. It's hard to find a
good time to nail him. If
he keeps stopping his combos when you roll out and hit him, then
wait for him to do
grabby move and he will be wide open. Also, if you're thinking
about using the web
dome to blow him down, it will work sometimes, but he can use
grabby to get you
right through the dome.

After enough hits, he takes back to the air. Go get him and
ground him again. This
time, the fight will take place on an electrified floor. Here,
it is just easier to collect a
refill on your webbing and shoot impact webbing. It will only
take a couple shots to
take him down.

Getting a time bonus here isn't too hard. But that perfect
again that's a killer.
Good luck with it and keep in mind that using the Green Goblin
is a lot easier than
Spidey.

Perfect

Oh my. I hate this level. Hate it, hate it, and hate it. On easy
mode, it's laughable.
On normal, it's no challenge. On hero, it's unbelievably hard.
It all comes down to
luck in the end, though there is some skill involved.

You'll want to begin by web slinging straight ahead. As you are
jumping in to the
first bomb, impact web the light mech. Remember, these mechs can
shred you in
seconds. There is another light mech patrolling here, but if you
land just right, he
won't notice you. After disarming the bomb, head to the left of
the large building
with the bomb in between it to avoid more light mechs. Disarm
the bomb in the
middle of the building. Now, if you did this fast, the
helicopter won't come at all. If
not, it will be there. If it is, just rise up above it. Try and
shoot the light mech on
your way with impact webbing, but don't waste too much on it. At
the next bomb,
try and shoot the light mech patrolling it before landing and
disarming it.

Now, go straight ahead towards the next bomb, above the
spotlight on the side of the
building. As you are moving past the next few building be
careful, because a roving
helicopter will have a searchlight moving around. Go to the next
bomb, avoiding the
spotlights around it and shooting the light mech patrolling the
sky. Now, pick up the
pace and head for the next bomb. You will have to go either
under or above the
spotlight ahead, depending on where you are. Either way, try and
shoot both
patrolling light mechs before you land, but don't waste time
doing it. That's
something you can't spare. It's almost impossible to get both,
but hopefully you do.
Start to go towards the next bomb. Cut in between the buildings,
even though there
is a light mech there. You don't have time to go around the end
building. Don't try
and take out anymore light mechs, there is no time. You just
have to hope they don't
shred your ass here.

After deactivating it, move on to the next bomb. Avoid the
spotlights down this last
stretch. It's tough. And there are light mechs. Just hope you
make it.

If you can do this, you can get the time bonus. The perfect
bonus? Hah! You expect
me to play that again?? No way. In Spider-Man's words, "I'm
gonna have some
nasty words for the guy who made this level. But first, I'm
gonna go somewhere
quiet and have a heart attack". Well, that's not exactly what
he said.

Stealth Bonus

The stealth bonus isn't as hard to get here as people think.
Just remember this one
key thing. You can tie up guards with webbing and as long as
they don't see you,
they won't sound the alarm when they break out. But if they do
see you, even tied
up in webbing, they will sound the alarm when they break out.
Keeping that in
mind, let's go.

In the first area run forward into the second shadow area, cling
to the ceiling and
wait for the guard to walk behind you. When he does, wait until
he is just past the
third shadow area and zip over there. Now, when he walks behind
you, tie him up in
your webbing and move into the next room.

Make sure not to get caught in the camera here. Move into the
next room. Climb
straight up the wall in front of you and go into the door in
front of you. Spider-Man
talks about a puzzle you have to solve. Good thing Harry is the
son of the guys
company he is breaking into huh? Anyway, zip straight up from
where you are
currently at. Tie up the guard when you can and get behind him,
into a different
shadow area. Once on this ceiling, wait till he turns his back
again, then again tie
him up and grab the High Stomp (X,B,A,) combo icon. Get back on
the ceiling and
wait until he passes under you again so that you can move
forward in the room (not
forgetting to tie him up of course). You'll see an active
computer in the far left
corner. You want to activate it to get part of the code.

From here, zip up and over to the top of the hall at the stairs,
being careful not to be
seen by the patrolling guards and tying them up/avoiding them.
Go up the stairs in
the middle of this hallway, through the door. Be careful not to
set off the light or
alert the guard to your presence and get two more pieces to the
puzzle in this room.
Exit through the door next to the light in the corner. Jump down
these stairs and
enter the next room, again getting two pieces and again being
careful not to be
caught. Then, zip back up the hallway you were previously in.
Enter the door across
from the stairway you previously entered.

The puzzle is pretty simple. Start with the mostly blue piece.
Then the half blue, half
purple piece. Then the half purple, half pink piece. Then the
half pink, part orange.
And then the last one. Basically, just make them go from one
color to another. This
level is over.

Getting perfect here is the same as getting stealth. If you
weren't discovered, you
should have no reason to not have a perfect. Getting time means
you're going to
have to forget all about stealth. Just watch out for those
blasted robots.

"JediLink" and "PS2 4 Life" discover the secret behind the
well, secret.
Apparently, the developers at Treyarch decided to throw
something that doesn't
make sense at all in. To activate the secret bonus for this
level, get to the part with
the elevators. Now, activate the elevator switch closest to you
and on the right as you
enter the room. Then, activate the elevator switch directly
across from that one.
Finally, activate the only other elevator switch on the left
side. That's it. That is the
secret. Makes no sense to you? You're not alone. Treyarch must
have been high
when they thought this one up. Also note that you will get no
confirmation saying
that you activated the secret when you do.

In this level, you can be stealthy, but it won't get you a
bonus, so it's not of much

you want that ever-
elusive perfect, you'll have to be stealthier than a stealthy
stealth. Getting a time
means that you can just run through the level like a mad man.
Hey look, I'm being
original. I put that stuff at the beginning instead of the end
this time. Whee?

Anyway, go out in the hallway. There are two guards patrolling,
both easy to pass
by without being seen. Just use the same shadow, tie up and
ceiling routine as last
round. As a bonus, in this level, the guards can't see you on
the ceiling whether you
are in shadows or not. Move into the next room you stealthy
person, you. Watch out
for those laser beams. They'll alert the robots. To get by them,
use look around
mode and zip at just the right time. Now, get on the ceiling
quick. Roving lights
might spot you. From here, get into look around mode and create
a zip right
between all of these stinking lasers to the other side. Make
sure it doesn't go through
one though. Get the Palm (B,X,A) combo on the ceiling and get on
then turn around.
Stay on the ceiling. You'll notice a guard patrolling below.
Simplton. Head to the
end of the hall he is patrolling and tie him up when he isn't
looking. Go into this
room, which should be marked by an "A".

The doc makes this all sound harder than it is. Just hit the
switch in room A, then B.
Then go into the rooms between them. Then hit the switch labeled
A/B. Easy enough
right? Right. So get to it. You have to hit them in order
though. Remember that. It's
important.

Done yet? Good, let's move on. Now, head to the door where it
previously told you
to go to control rooms A and B first. You can enter now. In
here, you'll find a weird
grid type thing. It's not as daunting as it looks. Just jump one
top of one of the black
boxes with the green things inside. Make a zip line to the
things just like the one you
are standing on across the room. Try and time it so that you
don't fly through the
cameras. Anyway, continue on. You will enter a room with a
wildly changing grid of
lasers. Watch the pattern very carefully because this one is
hard to explain. Once
you pass it, head into the hallway ahead and enter the lone door
on the right side.
Grab the Head Hammer (B,A,B) combo inside, then exit and enter
the "C" door.
Activate the switch. Try and enter the "D" door now. You'll find
it is locked, but the
weenie with the card key is on his way to you. Stick up to the
ceiling. When he gets
there, web him so he can't run and clock him out with a single
punch. Grab his
keycard and then enter the "D" door. Activate the switch and
then return to the
room where you activated the "A/B" switch. Activate the "C/D"
switch and exit this
level.

BOSS FIGHT: Ultimate Weapon

This guy can be either really tough, or really easy, depending
on how you handle
him. He is entirely motionless as long as you stay close enough
to him. But he has
missile turrets on his back and they don't like you. He also has
these laser beam
shooters that home in on you. And to top it off, there are light
mechs hovering
around him like that's their mommy. And if you stray too far
from him, you will
wake him up he has a huge laser that can destroy you in
seconds. So how will you
deactivate those generators on the far side without waking big
boy up? Easy
enough.

Impact webbing. If you swing out at just the right length, you
won't go too far away
from him and you will still hit the generators with your impact
webbing. This just
leaves the generators on his back and underneath him. You might
get ripped by
lasers and missiles while you do this, but thankfully there are
loads of health power
ups scattered about the arena.

Once the generators are down, simply land on his "neck" and
begin punching and
kicking. This sucker's going down.

"LordFakman" sends in a tip that just might make getting a
perfect a tad easier.
(Although it is still, very, very hard). Simply use the catwalk
up in the sky to shoot
impact webbing down on any of the targets below. The light mechs
often hit the
railing while you are doing this and none of Ultimate's weapons
can hit you unless
you jump at the wrong moment.

This level is quick and easy. Unless you're going for the
perfect and supersoldiers
killed bonuses. "PS2 4 Life" says that it is possible to get
that supersoldiers killed
bonus by using the Green Goblin and killing TONS of
supersoldiers. He says a good
strategy is to stay on that upper hallway and just fly back and
forth between the left
and right switch rooms as necessary as the red health icons
within each regenerate
fairly quickly. Also, to get a perfect with Spider-Man is a
joke, so please when
attempting it, use Green Goblin.

Anyways, you begin in the hallway you left "Breaking and
Entering" in. Head
straight ahead and grab the Haymaker (X,A,B) combo, then head
all the way to the
right of the hallway and follow it into a room. Press the switch
in here to deactivate
the machine gun turrets. Now, head the opposite way, all the way
to the left of the
hallway into a room. Press the switch here to deactivate the
laser room switch. Now,
go down in the room where all that was deactivated.

Press the switch on the far right corner of the wall, and then
enter the door directly
across from it. Jump down the stairs and enter the next set of
doors. Press the
switch to open the gate. It will take a while to open, so kill
the supersoldier, or wait
around and dodge it. Once it is open, just swing to freedom down

Level Completion
Perfect

This level is very reminiscent of the level you chase Vulture
in, but the Goblin is
much faster than that crusty old geezer. Again, the trick is in
cutting him off and
knowing his route. (Which will always stay the same). The game
defaults to lock-on
mode, and you might want to keep it for a run to find out his
pattern, but after that,
don't use it. It hinders your movement when trying to cut Goblin
off. Since the only
bonus here is perfect, that isn't too important, or at least you
think. If you follow
him directly, you will be nailed by one of his air mines. He
uses loads of them this
time. So find a different way, but still staying close enough so
that he doesn't fly off
with MJ. Remember again, knowing his path is the key. Also
remember that he is
much faster than Vulture. Happy hunting!

FINAL BOSS FIGHT: Green Goblin

Since there aren't any bonuses here, this level just comes down
to beating it. Right
away, you'll have to save MJ before the fire on the bridge gets
to where she is. This
isn't too tough, but while you are attempting it, the Goblin
will be shooting at you
and lobbing bombs your way. Any of this stray fire can kill Mary
Jane. So work
quickly, and if it takes a couple tries, don't be frustrated it
took me a couple as
well. Once she is safe and sound (read: out of your freaking
way) you can deal with
the Goblin.

In the air, he is a little tougher than he was back at "The
Offer" but not by much.
On the ground, he can be a real pain. He'll do that pouncing
move over and over.
There is an easier solution though. If you've mastered the skill
to "Ride Goblin", use
it to the max here. Eventually, he will start throwing you off
of the glider before you
can even land a single punch, but you will have take a good
portion of life off of his
life bar by then. You won't have even nicked his blue bar, but
that's not what
counts. As soon as you've got him down to the point where he is
just throwing you,
use punches and swinging kicks or impact webbing to lower his
blue life bar and
ground him. He should have very little health left. Go ahead and
use cheap tactics,
as payback for "Race Against Time". Swing by him and hit him
with some impact
webbing. Keep in mind though, that even though he is not on his
glider, it will attack
you. It isn't too much of a threat. And if you're really
frustrated, get up in his face
and lay it on him the old fashioned way. But note, that he will
pounce on you a lot so
be ready by rolling away or swinging away.

Once he is beaten, enjoy the ending.
