Retro Game Walkthroughs for RuneScape (PC Games)

Third and Final Part of my "Runescape Walkthroughs"

*Newer players, please refer to the previous walkthroughs that I've submmited*

If you're reading this walkthrough, you've come a long, long way since tutorial island, and you should be around level 80, if not more. You should have completed the majority of free quests (in my opinion, you should have finished them all, but it's up to you to get the quest points). So what now? You're exhausted from training your skills and just want to kick back. Well here it comes, the dreaded acronym. P2P, or for those unfamiliar with game acronyms, Pay 2 Play.

Now I myself did dabble in a few months of Runescape membership. I was happy with it to an extent. If you're really into the game, and don't mind paying the fee, I highly recommending getting membership, as it brings so many dimensions to the game. The fee put me off membership. Mixed with the fact that I started playing the game less and less, it wasn't worth it to me.

So if you do pay the monthly fee, what will you be getting? Well members get full access to everything available in Runescape. New skills, new items, new quests, new locations, new minigames and loads more. You can see why I recommend getting membership if you're bored, but like the game. It's alot broader than the free game by absolute miles. Ok, maybe a couple of hundred miles. Lets have a tour of members then.

My first big excitement was getting hold of a dragon weapon for the first time (you'll most likely start of with a longsword, as the scimitar, as well as most dragon weapons, have a quest requirement, alongside the standard level requirement). Those who have trained defence, fear not, you'll be able to purchase some dragon armour, although you're going to need a wad of cash to get a full set. We're talking millions and million of GP here, but trust me, you'll look dragontastic!

Moving onto the next big aspect of members, the new minigames. Undoubtedly the biggest minigame of Runescape is the famous Castle Wars. Castle wars, as the name would suggest, involves 2 castles. One of these castles represents the god Saradomin, and the other represents another Runescape god, Zamorak (yes, I can hear Guthix crying to). You'll start the game by choosing a portal; Zamorak, Saradomin or Guthix (Guthix places you in either team, depending on how many players are on each team). You're not allowed helms or capes in Castle Wars. These will be replaced with a hood and cape set corresponding to your god's colour (blue for Saradomin, red for Zamorak). The jist of the game is capture the flag. Go to the opposition castle (after battling through the players), steal their flag from the top of their castle, run back to your team's castle, and plant it in your flag, and you'll score! There is plenty of stuff to keep you occupied. People will fire from the walls (those pesky archers and mages!), people will set up barricades to block your path. There are underground paths to battle through, including the ability to cause a landslide, and crush multiple players. There's even a catapult to launch rocks at players, causing collosal damage to them. The winning team will recieve Castle War Tickets. These can be collected and exchanged for prizes.

That past paragraph is on Castle Wars alone, and I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg on minigames. The other most famous minigame is the Duel Arena. There are many others scattered across the map; look out for those red diamonds!

Moving swiftly on, you'll notice your map has increased in size. Your freeplay cities will have been Falador, Varrock and Lumbridge most noticably. Now you'll be able to travel around Camelot Castle, Ardougne, aswell as the other side of Karajama Island. Be careful though, the likes of Karajama feature poisonous animals, and in members, poison is the biggest enemy. Just stock up on anti-poisons when you go to exotic parts of Runescape (that will most likely feature scorpions) and you'll be dandy. Have a look around your new surrounding and familiarise yourself with the new locations.

Now quests. I don't think there's enough time in the world to talk about the constantly updating, constantly challenging member's quests of Runescape. Like the free quests, some are easy, others are incredibly difficult. If you thought Dragon Slayer was difficult, or that the Prince Ali Rescue was a long quest, you ain't seen nothing yet. I'll leave you to find and complete the quests on your own, as you should be good enough to take the majority on, and should have the experience from the free quests to know how to go about completing them.

If you click on your skills tab, you'll notice a few skills which you've never had to use. These skills will now be available for use. Obviously it can be a drag to start training a skill from scratch, what with so many new things being chucked at you at once. Have your fun first with the new items and quests, and then move onto the serious training. If you happen to achieve level 99 in a skill, well firstly, congratulations! Secondly, you'll be able to purchase a skill cape of the corresponding skill master. Skill masters can be found all over Runscape. It will cost you a pretty sum to display your skillfullness though!

To wrap this walkthrough, and the all the others up, I hope you've found my advice helpful in some way or another. When I started Runescape, I had to learn things the hardway (completely from scratch), but this has just let me earn a greater knowledge of the game than most people. So enjoy the game, make sure to take regular breaks. If you have anything important to do, do it first, and reward yourself with a few hours on your favourite MMORPG. Hopefully, in the future, you'll be in the high scores for Runescape, thanks to good old Sonic Chris!

Thanks for reading, and have fun!
