Who killed Calder Nettic?

In the Grove, run to a bridge and a silly Jedi named Bolook will grab you and tell you to solve a murder case. So do so. All you need to do is question each of the 2 suspects and then cross reference their info with the droids. The truth becomes pretty obvious, but here’s some help anyway.

You need to FULLY question each person before going back to Bolook and advancing the questioning.

To Bolook say, in this order;

"I want to discuss the murder."
"Rickard is lying."
“It was cloudy; there was no sun glare!"

Then investigate some more…

"I want to discuss the murder."
“Handon is lying."
"He knew his wife was cheating on him."

Invesitgate…

"I want to discuss the murder."
"The blaster is Handon's. He lied about it being stolen."

Investigate…

"I want to discuss the murder."
"The blood did not belong to the victim."
"It's Rickard's blood."
“He was limping earlier."
"No, they are both guilty."
"Rickard thought Calder was cheating him in business!"

"I'll look into it for you, Nilko."

You basically need to do the main quest and go back once that is finished on Manaan.

"Yes - they're sending them down to a secret base on the Hrakert

Jedi."
"I killed your daughter, Shaelas. Just as I'll kill you if you tell
anyone about this. Now give me those credits."

"Rorworr was dealing with the slavers. I found his datapad."

Go to the law house and speak to the Wookie Woroororororororororororrkooo! Y’know the one.

"Do you know who owns this bolt casing?"
"I found Jaarak's bolt casing on Rorworr's corpse."
"Jaarak, won't you say anything in your own defence?"
"Jaarak, I won't let you do this. Rorworr was dealing with slavers."
"No, I won't let this happen."

Invisible Assailants

Go to the Lower Shadowlands and speak to Grrrwahrr after saving him. Heal him or refuse him aid, depending on your Path, and then follow his instructions. You must disarm ‘you’ to attract the enemy.

First, go South and West from Grrrwahrr. Dis-arm and battle the Mandys.

Go south from here and battle the next group.

The last group is north west from here. Inspect the swoop bikes and plant the data device you will have found from a body of one of the Mandys. The leader shows up, distinctly miffed. Nark him and his mates and go back to GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRWAAAHHR!

"The Mandalorian hunters are dead. I killed them all."
"I hope it does. Goodbye."

Reward:
350 XP
Echani Vibroblade x1

NOTE: Korriban has no ‘side quests’ as such. You can, for example, persuade the hopefuls outside the academy to leave for Light Points, or just revel in it for Dark Points. The Side Quests are in fact essential for the Main Quest on Korriban, and so you have to do them, if you see what I mean. All of them are very self-explanatory and easy to find your way around.

EBON HAWK

Strange Stowaway

Stupid little kid. Steals your food, can’t speak properly and is damn annoying to boot. Meh. You will stop every now and then onboard and hear something. Go to the Cargo Hold and find the stupid tart.

Light Side

Find the girl, and then say

"A little girl? Where did you come from?"
"Calm down, little girl. I won't hurt you."
"I still don't understand you."

Now, repeatedly speak to her and try to decipher her ker-azy speech. You need to repeat what she says and follow it and learn it. You can’t fail because there is a set way through that you must follow.

Go to Dantooine and speak to a Twi’Lek named Lur Arka Sulas over to the left of the enclave area where you land.

"Go ahead."
"There is a stowaway on my ship by the name of Sasha."
"You can come on board and see her, if you like."
"Yes, I am. She only speaks a smattering of Mandalorian, but I was
able to figure her out."
"Certainly. I'll bring you to my ship."

Speak to Sahsa;

Reward:
Credits x100

The trouble with Gizka

Some Gizka will be dumped on your ship at Tatooine. Stupid dock workers.

There are three ways to get rid of them, depending on how moody you are. Oh no, 4, because you can slaughter them all. I think…

In Manaan docks, speak to Nubassa and force persuade him to take the Gizka off you. If you lie and sell them, you get Dark Side points. If you Force Persuade, you don’t. I think,

Reward:

When you reach the bootiful ‘unknown world’, the Gizka shove off, because it seems to be their natural world.

Unfinished Business

On Korriban, speak to the alien outside the cantina. You’ll see.

"Yes, the Ebon Hawk is my ship."
"Hand what over? What are you talking about?"
"What business is it of yours? The Ebon Hawk is mine, now."
"I could take a look for it."

Go back to the Hawk and enter the code on the Compartment.

Go back to the alien.

"Yes, I do."
"[Persuade] I don't work for Davik, remember? I want more."
"Maybe. Tell me more."
"Where can I find this Motta?"
"Alright. I'll do it."

Head to the Ebon Hawk's Cargo Hold and inspect the box. Select:

- [Yes, open the box.]

You must answer all his riddles correctly. Stupid Rataka.

Answer, ‘Time’, ‘Tommorrow’, ‘A grave’, and ‘a flame’ to win. Go to Motta the Hutt on Tatooine.

"I have a box for you. Sent by Lurze."
"Does it make a difference?"
"[Persuade] I expect a little more for transporting dangerous goods."

Reward:

Credits x4000
500 XP

UNKNOWN WORLD

Invisible Mandalorians

Go to the North Beach and speak to the ‘War Leader’

"What do you want?"
"Mandalorians!"
"OK, I'll find those Mandalorians."
"And?"
"Very well, I'll do it."

Go to Temple Exterior, and go over to the far right of the temple. A cut-scene will introduce the Mandys to you. Kill them all and take a head. Go back to the Warleader.

"They are dead. Here is their leader's head."

Reward:

1000 XP

Rakatan Research

In the Elder Settlement, speak to LL’awa.

"You know me?"
"What are you doing?"
"What is your research?"
"What happened?"
"So what is your research then?"
"You're capturing prisoners... for their genes?"
"Heritage... You mean the Temple?"
"You're trying to restore your empire, aren't you!"
"How close are you to finishing your research?"
"The One? What's so special about him?"
"How could I help with your research?"
"I have to go now."

Go inside the Temple Of The Ancients and work through to the Computer inside, and select…

"I almost was. But I'm hard to kill."
"What are you?"
"I'm looking for genetic data on the Rakata."

Now, go back and speak to LL’awa an inform him of your work.

Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic – Mini-guide.

To write a full walkthrough for the game would take years and years. Maybe not. But anyway, I hope to provide some help with this guide and to give a player a head start into what is undoubtedly one of the best games ever made.

NOTE: Use custom character, so you can add persona to your character, but also choose stuff that suits what you want to do.

BASIC CLASSES:

Scoundrel:

Scoundrels are the rogues of the galaxy, skilled and full of guile, but not necessarily all that good in a hard scrap. Intelligence, dexterity and charisma are their main features, with stuff like Strength not being high on their list. Therefore, a Scoundrel is suitable for a player who likes stealth and intelligence. Personally, I’ve never wanted to use one because the best bit of the game is seeing those lightsabres fly, and a scoundrel will probably be harder to keep alive in the later fights.

Starting Stats

Vitality - 6
Defence - 15
Strength - 10
Dexterity - 16
Constitution - 10
Intelligence - 14
Wisdom - 12
Charisma - 14
Fortitude - 0
Reflex - 5
Will - 1

Of course, one can change these in the Custom Character settings, but to suit a true Scoundrel, these are the main things to look out for.

Starting Feats:
- Armor Proficiency: Light
- Critical Strike
- Sniper Shot
- Sneak Attack 1
- Scoundrel's Luck
- Dueling
- Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Pistol
- Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Rifle
- Weapon Proficiency: Melee Weapons

Basic Class Attributes:
- 6 Vitality / level – Quite low, hence the need to avoid fighting
- Fast skill progression - Useful for hacking and repairing and healing..
- Slow feat progression - …but not for combat and the all important attacks

Scout

Scouts are the middle men, explorers, and so they are both intelligent but also able to hold their own in a fight and are also full of intelligence – diplomacy and war might well be needed. I personally use the Scout class because it is a well balanced mix between both necessary diplomacy and necessary warfare. Dexterity, Intelligence and Wisdom are their three main traits.

Starting Stats:

Vitality - 9
Defence - 13
Strength - 12
Dexterity - 16
Constitution - 12
Intelligence - 14
Wisdom - 12
Charisma - 10
Fortitude - 3
Reflex - 5
Will - 3

Again, one can adjust these at the start – it is well worth doing so.

Starting Feats:
- Armor Proficiency: Light
- Armor Proficiency: Medium
- Critical Strike
- Flurry
- Implant Level 1
- Rapid Shot
- Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Pistol
- Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Rifle
- Weapon Proficiency: Melee Weapons

Basic Class Attributes:
- 8 Vitality / level – The middle ground, and enough health to go around.
- Average skill progression – This is again the middle ground – needed for all round play
- Average feat progression – “ “

Soldier

The hard guys. They are strong and great at combat, but are less likely to be charismatic and impress anyone, so a Dark path might suit them better, depending on what you want to do. Dexterity, Constitution and Strength = their main strengths.

Starting Stats:

Vitality - 12
Defence - 12
Strength - 16
Dexterity - 14
Constitution - 14
Intelligence - 10
Wisdom - 12
Charisma - 10
Fortitude - 4
Reflex - 2
Will - 1

Starting Feats:
- Armor Proficiency: Light
- Armor Proficiency: Medium
- Armor Proficiency: Heavy
- Power Attack
- Power Blast
- Rapid Shot
- Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Pistol
- Weapon Proficiency: Blaster Rifle
- Weapon Proficiency: Heavy Weapons
- Weapon Proficiency: Melee Weapons

Basic Class Attributes:
- 10 Vitality / level – Strongest – plenty of health
- Slow skill progression – Needed for advancement unless you have other classes in your party
- Fast feat progression – Excellent for fighting and more importantly, winning.

NOTE: One can complete KOTOR using any of these classes, obviously, and you don’t have to be a Scoundrel to lack fighting capability, as long as you have a soldier like Canderous or Carth in your team. However, I personally like to use a middle man Scout type, as I like to use my own character for as much as possible, as they are the real protagonist in all of the narrative etc. One can win fights as any class, and persuade difficult characters with any class, but it is easier if you pick a class to suit the path you wish to take. It is essential anyway to balance out your party with different classes for different skills/feats etc.

JEDI CLASSES:

Jedi Guardian

- Jedi Guardians are like the soldiers, they train physically and using the lightsabre to its’ full potential in combat.

- They are very much the zealous anti-Dark dudes. Useful to have around when a dark Jedi is on the loose.

- However, such focus comes at a price of not being able to use force powers as much. This means that while they can kick butt with a sword, their essential force powers will be less useful. Once the player reaches the highest levels of either the Dark or Light side, the respective powers become very cheap in terms of FP, but the Guardian has less of these than the other classes, and so might rely on the sabre more – which is where their skill comes in.

- Basic Class Attributes:
10 Vitality per level – This + Soldier = Very strong character
4 Force points per level – Like I said, less ability to use the Powers a lot
Slow skill progression – Depending on basic class, this is either irrelevant or highly damaging
Fast feat progression – Very useful to utilise combat feats for the advanced sword play.

- Automatic Bonus Feat:
Force Jump - Useful, allows you to close a gap. I never really needed it anywhere in the game, as most of the time I ran away if there was any running, to heal!

Jedi Consular

- A Jedi Consular is totally opposite to the Guardian. Focusing on Force Powers, this means they have less health and less skill with the sabre (but are still pretty handy) but have double the FPs each level compared to a Guardian, but have 4 less Vitality points per level, meaning they are relatively equal in the gain/loss between classes. Earlier on, Force Powers are less useful, but later on they become highly useful.

- However, skill with a sabre is also needed, and the Consular can hold its own, but it is more likely that you will need a Guardian Jedi in your team as well, or at least a Sentinel.

- Basic Class Attributes:
6 Vitality per level – Less health, obviously, but a good gain
8 Force points per level – Allows for loads of powers, especially later on when they come into their own with things like Force Storm and Kill.
Slow skill progression – This (and the Feats) are a drawback. It means while the powers go up quickly, the other skills don’t as much.
Slow feat progression
- Automatic Bonus Feat:
Force Focus – Once honed, your Force Powers become far harder to resist.

Jedi Sentinel

-Jedi Sentinels are like the Scouts, the middle ground. Being able to use their sabre better than a consular and their forces better than a Guardian means they can fight and fry their enemy well, while retaining a balance. They in fact seek a balance in the Force

- Basic Class Attributes:
8 Vitality per level – Good amount of health
6 Force points per level – “ “ of FPs. Both are obviously less than the other classes in their respective strong points.
Average skill progression – Useful to develop slicing etc.
Slow feat progression – This is the worst aspect. I for one found a lack of combat feats by the end because of my focus on Jedi Feats in my character, and so that was a lacking.

- Automatic Bonus Feat:
Jedi Immunity – Immunity to fear – later on, some Dark Jedi will kill you by paralysing you with fear and madness and even Insanity. Therefore, Immunity to this is essential – you don’t want to be caught in a trap while being hacked apart by sabres and laser fire.

NOTE: Personally, I use the Sentinel. Like the Scout, a balance, and therefore very useful. By the end I could hold my own in both physical and force combat. It is up to you. A Scoundrel Consular can beat an enemy just as easily as a Soldier Guardian, just in different ways.

GENERAL TIPS:

• Save often. One cannot emphasise that enough. Not only will you be able to fight a tricky battle again quickly, you can go back and find things you missed and even get different Path points depending on your actions. I for one would have made huge story changes for the worse (depending on my path at the time) if I had not saved and gone back – Bastila for one….. I shall say no more ;)
• Persuasion is only available for you. It is absolutely essential. Force Persuade/Dominate can make you evil, but rarely, so for Light side, a high persuade can mean you are nicer (still, invest some effort into Mind Trick powers). You can gain extra Light/Dark side points, quests, money and rewards and lots of info from persuasion and bribes, or just plain old Mind Tricks.
• Use the map to spot interesting areas
• Speak to EVERYBODY! You might miss quests, jokes, info and quest details unless you communicate.
• Pazaak is boring. But it gets you money. You can practice with Mission in the Ebon Hawk
• Likewise, you can practice Gunnery (yawn) with HK-47 in the ship
• Speak to your crew to get them to make you stuff. T3-M4 and Mission make you Computer Spikes, Jolee – Medpacs, grenades from Zaalbar, and stimpacks from old’ Canderous.

COMBAT TIPS:

• Save often.
• If you know you are about to fight a major battle, use some stimpacks and shields to give you an initial and often decisive advantage
• If a scoundrel, using mines can help you. Lay some down and lure the enemy onto them
• Droids are easy if you use Ion weaponry and then repeatedly use Droid Stun/Disable/Destroy later on – you can absolutely massacre hundreds of otherwise tricky droids with 3 Jedis’ skilled in anti-Droid powers.
• Use Force defences only when fighting Jedi. Like when you know a battle is coming and you drug up, do the same for the force powers.
• Pause and flick between the 3 characters to check their situation, actions and what they need to be doing.
• If in danger, run! Simply get a character who is being killed and run them out of there. Your friends will attack and distract, leaving you time to heal. Even in the Malak battle, I ran around healing as he chased me and then went to fight him again.
• After a big battle, recharge your Force Points, then move, particularly somewhere like the Star Forge, Leviathan or the end of the planet sections etc.
• When fighting, queue up a mix of feat attacks and healing powers
• If against large odds and weak, use stealth to sneak up and smack the enemy hard and fast.
• Use grenades at the opening on unsuspecting enemies to open the battle in your favour.
• Heal after EVERY battle.
• If fighting a Jedi, droids are useful as they are invulnerable to their powers (mostly)…. But are not as good as a full fledged Lightsabre-wielding Jedi super-dude, so choose wisely.

SKILLS:

NOTE: Don’t give non-class skills to the wrong classes. It’s a waste of very valuable points.

Computer Use:

Related to Intelligence – Each 4 points of this reduces by 1 the amount of spikes needed to slice a computer. If you can, use a droid like T3-M4 to hack – you will save countless spikes. However, developing this is a worthy choice, especially if not a soldier and therefore not likely to have to hack the enemy down to find a key.

Demolitions:

Related to Intelligence – Lets you disable and even recover mines, depending on the skill. Involves lots of dice throwing, so I haven’t got a clue, but a higher level gives you a chance to pick up the mines. Disabling them is your best bet, unless again you use a droid like T3-M4.

Stealth:

Related to Dexterity – Useful in limited terms. In a party, you are unlikely to be all using stealth generators, so it is less useful. However, if alone it can be useful to use to sneak up on or past enemies to gain an advantage or to simply get past. A less used skill means a less developed one, so don’t concentrate on it unless you plan to use it. Scoundrels need this more than any other character class.

Awareness:

Related to Wisdom – Allows you to spot mines and cloaked enemies. Again, not as useful. Running means it falls, standing still means it increases – you can avoid a lot of damage if you stop and look out for mines. Again, Scoundrel and Scout might need this more than a soldier because of less health.

Persuade:
Related to Charisma – Essential. Only ‘you’ can use it, but develop it as much as possible. It means you can have greater freedom in conversations to gain Light/Dark points and any quests etc that might be available.

Repair:

Related to Intelligence – Using parts you can fix robots to help you, sometimes they are very useful, others not. Every 4 points deducts 1 part needed. T3-M4 is very useful at this, but it does deserve some attention from yourself. A worthy skill for most players.

Security:

Related to Wisdom – Use this to open doors basically. Security Spikes used with it mean one can unlock doors easier. T3-M4 and HK-47 are good at this. Later on this can gain you access to some highly useful items, so invest wisely.

Treat Injury:

Related to Wisdom – Increases the regenerative power of any healing item. Essential.
