Retro Game Walkthroughs for Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (PlayStation 2)

hello this is the third and final part of this walkthrough i hope it is as helpfull as the others, it is my own work ond it covers the hardest path the path of the hobbit, please note the first time round until you have completed the crack of doom you will only be able to play as SAM!
THE PTH OF THE HOBBITS:
ESCAPE FROM OSGILIATH
follow gollum/smeagol around the battle field going up stairs and down ladders, using the way the camera pans automaticly around to guide youre path. while on the rooftops you cant afford to dally about as in the right hand corner there is red circle and if that is filled up frodo will be snathed by the NAZGUL, a pointer is to hide under any cover when you can and your bar will decrease.
when you get to what appears like a dead end fight your way up the stairs and wait for frodo to join you, prees R1 and the bell at top will roll down the stairs and kill all orcs in its path, also opening a new route for you to take. when the Nazlgul is over head, only kill orcs if you have no other choice, move on quickly and soon you will end up in the sewers fight and kill the oncoming orcs, and you'll see a barred gate with enemies in front. watch out do not get too close as the boss is holding a club, shoot the archer and then use feirce attacks to knock armour of the boss and he will become vunerable, then your task is easy take out the remaining orcs and winch up the gate three times, than run through to complete the level.

SHELOB'S LAIR
this is realy anoying as there are often spiders trying to hump your leg, but killing them is easy, use a feirce attack to knock them on their backs and then use your killing move.
the level is a bit of a maze but fairly easy to find your way through, you'll need to use torches carefully positioned on the walls to scatter the carpets of small spiders and to set fire to webs in your way. you'll then reach a camp of orcs, bear right throwing the first torch into the middle of their group killing them and head into the tunnel on your right.killanything that moves and soon youlle reach another group of orcs and SAM says "i cant sneak past that" go up the path on the right kill the two orc and then press R1 to the rocks to send the tumbling down killing everthing in their way, go through the tunnel they were blocking and you will get your first checkpoint and your first glimpse of "SSHHEELLOOBBB" (shelob).
there are some pretty straightforward torch/spider carpet puzzles and remember if there is a torch nearby it is there to be used as a puzzle or to kill enemies. killing the last few spiders and heading through the end tunnel will lead you to SHELOB and the last precious chckpoint.
SHELOB is pretty easy to kill and should only take one attempt, you can block most of her stabs easily enough, and respond with your atrongest attack (orc hewer) if you have it, after dishing aou a fair amount of damage you will stab one of her eyes clean out causing her to climb up to a higher platform. shewill send spiders after you, hide in a corner and wait for them to come to you, when they are al dead SHELOB will jump down and attack you, run out of the way and when shelob misses she will be stuned momentarily leaving her open to attack. after doing this sequence about three times shee'l die and you will be done.
COMPLETING THIS UNLOCKS:ELIJAH WOOD INTERVIEW
CIRITH UNGUL
deal with the first group of enemies as you see fit, once more use feirce atteacks to knock shielding of th big fat orc th finnish him off. press R1 to lower the ramp and fight your way through the tunnel killing another big fat orc in the proceess. once out the other end kill the orcs/uruk hai who are in the process of a civil war, and another red circle will appear at the top of the screen you eill have to explore the rooms and kill eighty orcs/uruk-hai then head right lower the ramp and proceed up it go up the laddr and knock the barrels onto the remaining enemies below, continue on the path and a cut scene will begin in which all of your enemies retreat in to the tower. head to where the catapult is and kill the last big fat orc set of the catapult and proceed up the cleared path, which will collapse after you have passed it, this is also your last checkpoint.
there's a kind of sub boss with a shield here, make use of the two pike atnds and beware as he keeps on picking up shields, once you kill him the an orc will steal the mithril vest and run away, now the path of the hobbits has concluded, and you will have unloscked the final two missions!!
COMPLETING THIS UNLOCKS:NOTHING dont be too greedy
THE BLACK GATE
in this level you will be able to us any of your characters exept for the hobbitts, so obviosly pick th strongest, first you have to defeat a Sauron like sub boss which is easily enough and then you are overrun by enemies, kill everything and as an added task you will also have to protect the others from the fellowship (legylas, gimlie and grandad)to do this succes full you have to kill six of the big brutes and then another cut scene means you have reached a checkpoint now you are done?? congratulations!!!!!!!! only kidding now you have to destroy three nazgul whoa attack and make sure the fellowship are still safe, remember to use pikes and the fire to kill them easily. if you chose to use gandalf (level 5) and he has light of the forges, your spells will annihilate the nazgul in seconds which is the only thing easy in the game!!
COMPLETING THIS UNLOCKS: NOTHING!!!!!
CRACK OF DOOM!!!
the final level is finaly here and you only get to chose a very weak frodo, you must lure Gollom to the edge then knock him over the edge with fierce attacks and then use the killing move to knock him off, he will somehow clamber up the side, and will have low health repeat this sequence five times remember to pick up all the health pickups and the game is over and gollom will finaly die!!!!

THE PATH OF THE KING
PATHS OF THE DEAD
The killing of spectres is pretty straightforward, untill you reach a large cicular area with several paths. go right first untill you reach a boulder which you can push on to more undead below run back around to the left and take the lower path for a health pickup then lastly the higher path on the left to continue. When you get to the drawbridge tug on it three times to lower it dont bother to kill the three spectres as you will be able to run up the ramp they are on in a short while. Keep wading through the mist hacking away through the room with collapsed pillars and up the bone ladder, kill the tougher spectre and into the statue room you shall go, make sure to annihilate all of your opposition and topple the statue to make a makeshift bridge. you cant get through the gate yet so run under the bridge and kill the spectres before using another wheel. You'lll end up on a long bridge in a large cavern and then your last task is that you have to kill 35 spectres EASY.

KING OF THE DEAD
Your first boss fight for this game is against the infamous king of the dead, he is a hard-nut - when he rises up out of the ground, he spins and slashes with his sword which is unbockable.
First he will summon four spectral warriors, then he will summon four spectral archers while engaging you in hand to hand combat in between. He will slash at you three times block each time then use orc hewer, he has an outstandingly large amount of health but you dont have to take that much of before he changes his attack pattern. In his new attack he wil summon a blast off wind to attack you from afar, you can protect yourself by hiding behind the rocky outcrop but eventualy that will fall leaving you with only one option to face him. He will unleash a melee of attacks this time five slashes, so you will need to block and then counter as you did before. He will keep summoning first four shielded spectral warriors, then two shielded and two archers.
Next the camera angle will change and hell blast you with some morewind this time there is a sterdy boulder to hide behind, there is also ammo behind this he will keep summoning warriors and doing melee attacks but you will wear down his health and he will eventualy die, but that is not it, oh no you know have the mamoth task off escaping the crumbling mountain at certain parts you will have to stop and battle some spectres, then carry on just before the last group ther is a green health pick up DONT pick it up UNLESS you REALY need it.
Completing this unlocks: nothing dont get too greedy
THE SOUTHERN GATE
Run up to the gates to trigger the appearance of a troll, then quickly run back an throw a spear at him before too many troops swarm in and get in your way, you need to trigger all of the three catapults to progress.
One of them hits the troll at the top of the wall, the other two destroy a tower creating a bridge for you to cross, you dont have to kill any of this crowd but it helps too, if you want to get maximum experience.
Run up the ladder and shoot that elephant to stop its orcs firing at you, kill everything that move up here then open the gate using the wheel, then go down and finish off any off the survivors to end this relatively short level

PELENNOR FIELDS
After slaughtering about 60 enemies, you need to start dealing with the armoured Mumakils, kill the first one straight away, then run down the slope to the bottom left and up the other side. Destroy the second Mumakil run left kill the lonely orc and shoot at the witch king with arrows untill he pulls away.
From here on the Mumakils apear at ramdom sides of the battlefeild kill them all, after a short while the witch king will descend again and is is your top priority to shoot him with arrows but having said thst do not lose awareness of your surroundings as enemies will still attack you if you nare loosing health during this onslaught. Start killing some enemy soldiers in hope that they drop some crucial health pick ups as your going to need them carry on fighting untill the battle is over and the enemy begin to flee and you have victory!!!!!!!!!!!
