BOSS ONE- EGG HAWK
Team Sonic- Using just Sonic, chase after the boss. All you have to do is jump and repeatedly use the homing attack. The Egg Hawk will be dead soon.
Team Shadow- Use Shadow's homing attack, but when it lands change to Omega and smash Eggman up the old fashioned way. As long as you're quick, you'll get an A.
Team Rose- Use the same method as Team Sonic.
Team Chaotix- Same method.

BOSS TWO- TEAM BATTLE

Start off by using Blue Tornado to blow away the enemies. If any are left after about three of these, use Knucles to punch the rest. Also, Tails's thunder shoot will take care of Amy.

Same method.

Use Big to punch them off the edge. If you need to, use Amy's pink tornado to blow off any survivors.

Start by using Espio, and turn invisible. More tornados will finish them off.

BOSS THREE- ROBOT CARNIVAL
This boss consists of many waves of enemies, each after the other. Use your homing attack for robots, thunder shoot for flying enemies and the power character for turtles and steel enemies.

BOSS FOUR- EGG ALBATROSS
With all teams, use the speed character to home in on the boss while it flies. When it breaks free, continue homing attacking the hawk until it bites the dust.

BOSS FIVE- TEAM BATTLE

This fight is harder thabn last time. Use a similar tactic of tornados, but the opposing team switches round to get the better of you. Don't stray too far to the edge, and if you get left with the flying character on your team alone, restart.

Same tactics.

Use Big to punch the smaller characters, and Amy to blow away Vector.

Same tactics.

BOSS SIX- ROBOT STORM
This is the same as Robot Carnival, but after each set of waves, you have to jump in a cannon and blast yourself to the next platform and so on. You'll encounter over three steel giants, except with Team Rose and an annoying cannon mini-game near the end. Use Team Blasts at the start of each wave, UNLESS YOU NEED TO.

BOSS SEVEN- EGG EMPEROR
This batle is set on a series of walkways, with a huge bowl at certain points along the battlefield. At the start, switch to speed type and run underneath the boss, using the speed up pads until you get to the bowl. Once there, defeat the enemies and use thunder shoot when the boss exposes his glowing spot to stun him FOR A SECOND. Next, use the power character to smash up Eggman until he flies off. Run underneath him with the speed type to the next bowl and continue until he's dead. Watch out for his homing missiles, and make sure you get as many rings as you can for protection.

I won't spoil it for you, but it's tough!

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my Sonic Heroes walkthrough guide. Here I will explain in detail all the major aspects of the game, including formations, characters etc. and also explain how to beat the bosses using Team Sonic.

TEAM SETUP

Each team (Sonic, Rose, Dark and Chaotix) is made up of three different characters, each one either a speed, power or flying character. The characters are as follows:

SPEED CHARACTERS

Speed characters are the most used characters in your team. They are the fastest in your team, but don’t have many abilities. They can perform the homing and speed dash attacks. The speed characters are:

Sonic (Sonic)
Amy (Rose)
Shadow (Dark)
Espio (Chaotix)

POWER CHARACTERS

Power characters should be used for combat. They are the most powerful of the three and have the most abilities. Power characters can perform moves that destroy parts of the stage and are responsible for the team attack. The power characters are:

Knuckles (Sonic)
Big (Rose)
Omega (Dark)
Vector (Chaotix)

FLYING CHARACTERS

These are the least used of the three characters. Flying characters basically are only needed to take on flying enemies and to lift your other team mates onto higher platforms of a stage. The flying characters are:

Tails (Sonic)
Cream (Rose)
Rouge (Dark)
Charmy (Chaotix)

TEAMS

As you already know there are 4 teams in Sonic Heroes, each consisting of three characters. The team you choose will determine the difficulty of your game. The teams are as follows:

TEAM SONIC

Team Sonic is the all-round team in the game. Recommended for anyone who’s looking for an average difficulty through the game, or for Sonic veterans to control their hero once more. Team Sonic will have an easier ride than the likes of Team Dark, but the game will be harder than Team Roses’ adventure. Team Sonic consists of:

Sonic
Tails
Knuckles

TEAM DARK

The hardest of the four to play as. Team Dark is the team you should use if you have already completed the game with the likes of Team Sonic and you are looking for a harder challenge. Team Dark’s adventure is the same length as Sonics’, but there are more enemies and harder challenges. Recommended for the experts only. Team Dark consists of:

Shadow
Rouge
Omega

TEAM ROSE

Team Rose is the easiest team of the four to play as. Best for people who are new to Sonic Heroes and don’t want the difficulty too high. Team Rose has a shorter adventure than the other teams, and have to fight less enemies with easier challenge. If you’re new and don’t want a challenge, pick Team Rose, which consists of:

Amy
Big
Cream

TEAM CHAOTIX

Team Chaotix is a mixed bag to play with. Their game is emphasised on collecting things and the difficulty is like Sonics’. If you were good at collecting things, such as rings, with the other teams, then you might want to give yourself a challenge and try Team Chaotix, which consists of:

Espio
Charmy
Vector

GAMEPLAY BASICS

CHANGING CHARACTERS

When playing the game, it is essential that you switch between characters. Some people will just blast through the game using the speed character and not get anywhere. Remember, use your speed character to advance through the stage. If you come up against an obstacle, like an enemy, switch to your power character. Then, if you need to advance to higher places, use your flying character.

TEAM BLAST

Team Blast is a special move all three members can use. It is a very powerful move that will usually kill all enemies on screen, and then usually has an after effect. To perform Team Blast, you need to fill the Blast gauge by either:

Collecting Rings
Killing Enemies
Performing Attacks
Finding Team Blast Item Boxes

Once charged, Team Blast will appear on your gauge and you can then use the attack. Once used, you have to charge the meter up again to perform another Blast. If you die or change level, your gauge will start again.

Each team will also cause an effect for a small period of time once they have performed the Team Blast. These are as follows:

Sonic – Stun bosses
Dark – Stop the time for around 15 seconds.
Rose – Gives you an invincibility shield for a short time after execution
Chaotix – Gives you an amount of rings depending on the number of enemies you kill

LEVELS

Levels are new on the Sonic scene, and they for points and to improve your attacks. Near your characters icon are three holes, and these determine the level you are currently on. To gain levels, you must either:

Get the coloured orbs the enemies drop
Get orbs from item boxes

Levels will then increase your attack power and even out damage. When you die or change stages, you loose all your levels.

RINGS

We all know what rings are. Present in every Sonic game, rings are your life. Rings will both fill your Blast gauge and protect you from dieing, whilst collecting 100 will gain you an extra life. If you hit an enemy, your lead character will loose all their rings, but other members won’t. All three characters can collect rings will moving through the stages.

CHARACTER GATES

Character gates are special gates that appear in each stage. There are two types:

Formation Gates
Lead Character Gates

Formation Gates are gates with either ‘Speed’, ‘Power’ or ‘Flying’ written on them, along with a colour. You must then change to the character with that skill and perform the required task.

Lead Character Gates are gates with a transparent barrier and a colour to match them. When you pass through these gates, they automatically change your main character, and you then need to perform the next tasks.

GRINDING

First introduced in the Sonic Adventure titles, your teams can now grind along rails to advance to another place. Whilst grinding along a rail, you can speed up and jump onto parallel rails. You can get off a rail anytime you want.

DEATH TO THE CHARACTERS

In Sonic Heroes there are two different ways of dying. The first is instant death, and this occurs when the main character gets hit without any rings, or all three characters fall off the stage. This will cause you to loose a life. However, if the main character dies, but the others are safe, the game will switch you to one player and the other that died will reappear once everyone is safe.

In Team Battle, things are a little different. If you get hit, with or without rings, you will be stunned and unusable for a few seconds. If the team is hit, they will get knocked back and only until all three characters and unusable you will be beaten.

TEAM FORMATION

Team formations are required for different purposes. The team formations are as follows:

SPEED FORMATION

Speed Formations will see your speed character in front, and then the other two characters follow behind them in a straight line. Speed formations will be used most through the game, but you’ll need them to cross narrow platforms.

POWER FORMATION

Power formations will see your power character in the centre, and then the other two characters either side of him. Power formations are needed for collecting rings, due to the fact you make up a larger surface area side by side.

FLYING FORMATION

Flying formations will see your flying character at the front, with your other two characters each holding onto one leg. Flying formations are simply needed to reach higher areas or cross gaps.

BOSS BATTLES

Please note, these strategies were written using Team Sonic, but they should work with all the teams.

EGG HAWK

Difficulty – Easy
Characters – Sonic and Knuckles
Rings – Plenty

Firstly, use your speed character to collect all the rings at the front. Ignore the advice given to you by the flying character, and stop on one of the small islands by the track. Wait for the Egg Hawk to spin attack, then use your speed character to easily avoid it. Now switch to your power character, and keep hitting the machine.

If you’re quick enough, it is possible to beat the Egg Hawk first time round. However, if the Egg Hawk takes off again, quickly get out of there and second time round you should see him off.

TEAM ROSE

Difficulty – Easy
Characters – Tails
Rings – Enough

Immediately as you begin switch to your flying character, and keep using the Thunder shoot against Team Rose. As you move, keep collecting the rings as they will make your attacks more powerful. Keep blasting them and they should fall easily.

ROBOT CARNIVAL

Difficulty – Easy
Characters – All three
Rings – Plenty

This battle will take a long time to finish, but as long as you what’s coming you’ll find it very easy. You will be attacked by different waves of enemies. The waves are as follows:

Waves 1 and 2 – These waves consist of basic robots. Switch to Sonic and leap into the air, then use his bounce attack to jump on all of the robots in the air.

Wave 3 – This will consist of normal and ground robots. Destroy the ground robots using Knuckles, then switch to Sonic and dispose of the air robots as you did before.

Waves 4 and 5 – The next set of robots, use Tails to dispose of them, using his shooting attacks against the air robots.

Wave 6 – Use Tails to destroy the air robots, then switch to Knuckles to dispose of the ground robots.

Wave 7 – Use Sonic or Tails to take care of the air robots, then switch to Knuckles to destroy the grappling robots on the ground.

Wave 8 – Use Knuckles to destroy the Turtle gunners that appear and use Tails to take out the air robots.

Wave 9 – Use your Team Blast here, as it is the easiest way to dispose of the mass amount of enemies and by now your gauge should be full.

Wave 10 – For the final wave, use Tails to jump on the springs to collect the power-up, then use another Team Blast to see them all off.

EGG ALBATROSS

Difficulty – Medium
Characters – Sonic
Rings – Enough

At the start, dash forward and collect the rings, then roll almost underneath the machine. You should now be able to avoid its pulse cannons, and you can use a bounce attack one both on one wing. Once they are destroyed, start bounce attacking the wing. Make sure you attack the flat part, not the motor end, and remember to lock on to make it easier.

After a few hits the wing will be destroyed and the Albatross will split into two halves. Now back off and let the machine come toward you. When it does, aim for the propeller and bounce attack it until it explodes. Now a new aircraft will appear, but you can easily dispose of it by bounce attacking it until it’s destroyed.

TEAM DARK

Difficulty – Medium
Characters – Sonic and Knuckles
Rings – Plenty

You can win this battle by plain luck sometimes. To start, use Sonic and Tornado Spin in the middle of the arena. This can win you battle easily. If that doesn’t work, then switch to Knuckles and try to force them off the edge. Don’t take too long though, as you’ll give them time to charge up their Team Blast. If you loose a character, use Team Blast to get them back.

ROBOT STORM

Difficulty – Hard
Characters – All three
Rings – Not Enough

Robot Storm is basically a more difficult version of the Robot Carnival. For the first wave, use Tails to take out the air robots, then Knuckles for the ground robots. On the next round, use your Team Blast to take out the turtle robots, then use Knuckles on the ground robots. Change to Sonic and bounce attack the next enemies.

Get in the cannon to reach the next platform. Use Knuckles to attack the ground robots, but watch for the edge as the robots walk very close to it, so attack from distance. Then use Knuckles on the large robot, and attack its feet until it’s destroyed.

Use Knuckles on the shield robots, and then use the Knuckles on the next three robots, which are like the one I explained earlier. Now change to Tails, and fire from the air on the next robots. Use your Team Blast on the next wave, then jump into the cannon to reach the last platform. Use Knuckles on the large robot, then use your Team Blast one more time to finish of the robots.

EGG EMPEROR

Difficulty – Hard
Characters – All three
Rings – Enough

The Egg Emperor is a very difficult boss to take down because he always seems to attack you when you are vulnerable. At the start, use Sonic to dodge his attacks, then collect the rings and follow Eggman. Don’t get too close, but don’t lag behind. Stay a reasonable distance from him.

You will need to collect the power-ups. There are three on the track and three in the air. When Eggman lands in an open space, use Knuckles to break his cannons then attack him using Tails. You can only hurt him when he waves his shield. Attack him and it should move, allowing you to hit him.

Watch the enemies that surround Eggman, and always use your Team Blast when you get it. After you hit him a few times, Eggman will move onto another track. Keep repeating the same process until he eventually falls. Congratulations! You have beaten all the bosses.

Thankyou for reading my guide. I hope it helped you improve your game in Sonic Heroes and eased you through the boss battles without too much trouble.
