This walkthrough is a weapon walkthrough. I will be telling you where to find the weapon, the best place to use it and little tricks on its usages.

~The SOCOM pistol~
The socom pistol is located in the helipad at the start of the game. Go to the truck that is parked outisde of the main building. Go behind the truck and climb in the pistol is behind the crate.

The best place to use the socom pistol is throughout the game. It is your first weapon that can cause damage and you will need to use it for most of the game. It is useful against Revolver Ocelot.

Tricks for using the socom pistol are too equip the silencer which is found after the fight with ocelot to the right of the tank hangar. Equip the silencer and the socom at the same time for them to be combined. It is used for stealth because when you shoot your enemies can't hear it but will notice their dead comrades.

~C4~
Get the level 1 key card and go to the armoury on level B2 to find these.

Best used against soldiers or bosses who have a route which you know. Best used against Vulcan raven when he is on foot. Only way to find Ocelot when you have to battle him.

Tricks for their use are that to create a bigger blast plant more than one in the same place. This makes it easier to kill soldiers but will make no difference against bosses.

~Stun grenade~
Found in the helipad area. Go into the room with the gun camera.

Best used when you are being chased by guards and want to escape quickly.

Tricks are that it takes a little while to go off so throw it a wall when going around a corner to distract the guards and position them well for being stunned.

~Chaff grenade~
The first box of chaff grenades are located between the searchlights on the helipad at the start of the game. Do not get caught by the searchlights or all hell breaks loose and you have to waste time hiding.

The best use of the chaff grenades is too mess up cameras so that you can get past much easier. You can use the chaff grenades against metal gear and the helicopter bosses.

Tricks for using the chaff grenade are too hold a down longer and snake will throw the grenade thurther. The longer you hold the a button the longer the throw to a certain extent

~Grenade~
To find the grenades you first need a level 1 key card. You get a level 1 keycard from the darpa chief. Then go to to the armoury on level B2 which is below the tank hangar.

Use it when there is only few enemies which are close together. It is too hard to use it when the guards are on alert and after you.

Use it against Vulcan Raven in the tank.

~FAMAS machine gun~
You first need a level 2 keycard which you get after fighting Revolver Ocelot from Kenneth Baker. Go to the armoury and it is there.

Use it when you have alot of enemies after you you can kill them easily and quickly. Best used when you are running up the stairs to the communication tower.

Hold B as you run to run and shoot at the same time.

~M9 tranquiliser~
You need a level 3 keycard. Then go the B2 armoury.

A gun to knock out guards for a short time. It is silenced so it is a weapon for stealth.

The number of Zs decreases which means that the guard is waking up so shoot him again to knock him out for longer. Aim for the head or backside to knock the gurd out straight away. The backside is funnier especially when you can see the dart sticking out.

~Nikita controllable missile launcher~
it is found on the B1 floor of the nuclear building.

You need this to solve the electrical floor puzzle.

Tricks for it are if you need it to go slower by keeping on changing its direction just keep on tapping left then right. Also if a gun camera spots it it will shoot it and blow it up.

~PSG1 AND PSG1-T sniper rifles~
You need a level 5 key card after that it is in the armoury on level B2.

It is best used against Sniper Wolf bewcause it is the only thing which can kill her.

Tricks for its usage are if you lay down your aiming is better. If you zoom out moving targets are easier to see.

Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes
*Boss Walkthrough*

In this walkthrough I will be explaining the best and easiest strategies to beat every boss on the game, and to help you get the Big Boss ranking. This is my own work and has not been copied from any other sources.

Name: Revolver Ocelot
Location: South of Armoury
Difficulty: Easy

The easiest way to beat this old duffer is to chase after him like a little school girl around the structure in the middle of the room, where Baker is being held prisoner. When you get half way on each side of the outer path you are chasing him on, whip out your Socom and shoot through the gap diagonally in the direction he’s running. Shoot a couple of times and you’ll probably hit him. The best time to shoot him is when he is reloading, because it takes him so long to do so. Use this to your advantage. Make sure you move straight after you’ve fired or you’re sure to end up with a face full of lead. Repeat this till his life gauge is empty. Just make sure you don’t touch the wires. Otherwise its game over and you will have to start the battle again

To get the Big Boss ranking use the M9 instead of the Socom, however each time you shoot with the M9 it reloads automatically and takes a few seconds to do so. In this time Ocelot can use this against you and attack while you’re doing so. All you need to do to prevent this is to quickly press R once and the M9 will be unequipped. Move quickly to avoid being shot and press R again to equip it quickly.

Name: M1 Tank
Location: Canyon
Difficulty: Normal/Hard

When you get to the middle of the Canyon a Tank will ambush you and the battle will begin.

Firstly use a chaff grenade to interfere with the tanks radar. You can now get close to the tank to prevent Raven from firing shells at you. Guards come out from inside the tank and use the machine gun placed on top of the tank. Avoid the bullets by rolling and running around like mad. To take some damage off you’ll need to use your grenades. Pull out the pin and hold it for 2-3 seconds. Quickly face the tank and send it flying (you can also do this in FPV (first person view) which might be a bit easier). If the grenade lands anywhere near the machine gun, then you’ll inflict some damage. If a little cut scene appears of the grenade landing in the guards lap, then you’ve caused a lot of damage. Just repeat this method and you’ll be sure to win. You can use claymores to take out the tracks of the tank to prevent it moving but I wouldn’t because it takes to long as is very tricky to execute correctly.

To get the Big Boss ranking just use stun grenades instead of normal grenades.

Name: Cyborg Ninja
Location: Nuke Building B2
Difficulty: Normal

Good old hand-to-hand combat is really the best way to beat the crap out of someone. If you attempt to use a gun, the Ninja will just deflect them with his sword. First things first use a chaff to paralyze him for a short period of time. Now it’s time to attack. Use your punch-punch-kick combo to cause him some damage and repeat this for some time. It would also be wise to use your rolling attack if he is too close for comfort and possibly a punch or two. The Ninja uses an attack where he floats above you briefly and lands feet first on top of you. Avoid by rolling out of his reach, and when he hits the ground you can get in a few hits before be cartwheels away. Eventually he will turn invisible and you will have to find him. It’s easy to find him because the space where he is will be slightly distorted. When you approach him, he will appear and will try to attack you. Just use your combo quickly and he will hide somewhere else. Find him and repeat these instructions. The Ninja will grow tired of this strategy and become visible again. When you approach him he will teleport behind you and execute a rather hard punch. To avoid being hit either run round him still he tries to punch you, and use your punch-punch-kick combo. Do this a couple of times and the battle will be yours for the taking.

For Big Boss ranking you just do the same as the normal way above.

Name: Psycho Mantis
Location: Commanders room
Difficulty: Normal/Hard

This battle is only hard if you don’t use the handy trick to stop him from reading your mind. He will make the screen go black and the word Hideo will be in the top left hand corner. There is nothing wrong with your telly, it’s only one of Psycho Mantis’ mind games (and a poor one at that). At this point change your controller from port one to four. This now prevents him from knowing what you’re going to do next. Later on during the battle if he says ‘I can read your mind’ then pause the game and change controller ports. Use your handy FA-MAS for the first part of this battle to take off some damage. Be careful not to get hit by his force balls otherwise you’ll loose quite a bit of your health. Mantis will also use his telekinesis to move objects around the room in order to collide with Snakes face. Just empty you’re FA-MAS on Mantis and he’ll soon enter his next phase of the battle. Mantis will now make Meryl get up and start firing at you. Use your M9 to knock her out, but Mantis doesn’t stop there. He now makes Meryl stand up again and puts her gun to her head. Quickly whip out the M9 again and shoot her a couple of times to prevent Meryl killing herself. Once you have done this successfully Mantis will go psycho on you and start firing force balls again like crazy. As he uses the stealth camouflage like the Ninja equip your Thermal goggles to see where he is and fire your FA-MAS or Socom at him. If you run out of bullets then look around the room for some ammo. Try to hit him just before he throws a force ball as well just to take even more health off and prevent him from throwing a ball. If you do this correctly then the victory will be yours for the taking.

For the Big Boss ranking ONLY use the M9. This may take a little longer but be patient and you should be able to defeat him. Plus if you miss him at all when he’s about to throw a force ball, quickly remove your M9 by pressing R once and roll to the side to prevent being hit.

Name: Sniper Wolf
Location: Underground passage
Difficulty: Easy

Once you’ve obtained a PSG1 from the Armoury head back to the passage and the battle of the sniper begins. Lay down near the wall where Snake hid when Meryl was shot and get out your PSG1. Use some pentazemin to steady your aim once you’ve spotted her. Sniper Wolf is on the upper path at the end of the passage, once she’s in your line of fire take a shot and continue. Head shots take off more damage than usual (obviously) so use this to your advantage. Once you’ve successfully emptied her life gauge, the battle is over.

If you’re getting the Big Boss Ranking then use the PSG1-T which can be found in the Nuke Building in the room to the south on floor B1.

Name: Hind-D
Location: Communication Tower Roof
Difficulty: Normal

The Hind-D is being piloted by your dear brother Liquid and who feels the need to blow Snake to smithereens. Your plan of action is to use your newly found Stinger and launch your missiles at the Hind. The Hind will appear as an orange dot on your radar so be sure to keep track of it. When the Hind is in your sights, whip out your Stinger and aim. The Stinger should lock onto the Hind, when you do this fire a missile and follow the Hind. DIRECT HIT! Repeat this until Liquid shouts ‘Eat this’ and drops a huge load of missiles. They only hit the southeast platform, so steer clear of that and you’ll be fine. There is a ration south of where you entered the roof of the tower. If you need it get it and go back to where you were. Keep launching Stinger missiles until his life gauge is empty. Make sure you have some rations equipped at the end, because Liquid will try and take you down with him.

M9 Vs Hind-D…….your dead already. Use the same method as above for the Big Boss ranking.

Name: Sniper Wolf
Location: Snow Field
Difficulty: Normal

This second battle against Wolf is a bit harder than before, but still not exactly hard. She now has more places to hide than before. Lay down anywhere and search for her look from left to right and when you’ve spotted her inject yourself with some pentazemin and take a shot. Once you’ve made a direct hit she’ll get up and take refuge somewhere else. In the clearing where she is located, there’s a snow hill which blocks your sight of where she is. Wolf does come out from the other side eventually but sometimes goes back the way she came to confuse you. If you get a chance take a shot at her whilst she’s running. Hit her enough times and she’s down for good. Nice one Snake!

Use the PSG1-T if you’re trying to get the Big Boss ranking.

Name: Vulcan Raven
Location: Warehouse
Difficulty: Normal/Hard

There are many different ways to take down Ravens life gauge. Some of the best ways are laying claymores and C4’s to take off some of his precious health. Also using the Nikita is very effective. Just fire a rocket and guide it through the Warehouse. Make the rocket come up behind Raven so he doesn’t see it. If he doesn’t notice then you’ll cause some serious damage. If he spots it, he’ll take it down with his trusty Minigun. Lay claymores and C4’s nearby. The claymores will set themselves off and the C4’s need to be set off as soon as Raven is close enough to them. It would be best to lay claymores throughout the Warehouse so you don’t get to close to him. Grenades can come in handy too. Pull the pin, chuck it straight at his bald head and run for cover. If it hits him and he sees you, he will pump you full of lead with bullets bigger than Ian Thorpe’s feet. The battle should be over quickly if you use this method.

Getting the Big Boss ranking is very difficult when fighting against Raven (hence hard being one of the difficulties). You’ll have to use the M9 (sounds stupid but trust me) and come up behind him. If you get him in the back of his reflective head then you’ll cause quite a bit of damage. *CAUTION* You MUST put away your M9 very VERY quickly after you shoot him and roll round a corner! If you are too slow then you are bound to get shot! You can also use stun grenades instead of the normal grenades, which proves very useful.

Name: Metal Gear Rex
Location: Underground base
Difficulty: Normal

Liquid is back and this time he’s piloting Rex! You’ll need your Stinger and a few rations to. On Rex’ shoulder is a circular device called the ‘Radome.’ Use the Stinger to destroy the radome by locking onto it and firing a missile. Use only one missile because Rex might attack and you wouldn’t have enough time to get out of the way, so press R to remove your Stinger quickly and avoid an oncoming attack. Rex uses a Rail gun which you should be able to roll out of the way of. It also uses a laser, use the same tactics as for avoiding the rail gun. Its deadliest attack is when it launches 3 missiles at the same time, but easy to avoid. Run and roll to the opposite side from where you were standing. Continue this and you’ll have won the battle……..or have you?

A cut scene takes place of Rex getting back up and Liquid taunts Snake. Enter Grey Fox a.k.a. the Cyborg Ninja and what great timing. He prevents Rex from squashing Snake to a bloody puddle and takes on Rex by himself. It’s really cool. Fox ends up losing one arm and pined up against the wall. He destroys the radome and yells to Snake to shoot at Liquid, for the cockpit is now visible. Snake can’t do it, and Gray Fox ends up at the bottom of Rex’ foot. Snake is out for blood and so the second battle continues.

In this battle just use the same tactics as before, only this time aim at Liquid and the battle is over sooner than you would expect.

For people going for the Big Boss ranking don’t bother with the M9, you’ll just end up like Fox. Just use the same instructions above.

Another cut scene shows Rex flailing around and breaking down. Snake looks up and sees Liquid strolling towards him.

Name: Liquid Snake
Location: Underground base (on top of Rex)
Difficulty: Normal

As Liquid has dumped all your gear somewhere, you are forced to do hand-to-hand combat with your dearest brother. Liquid uses a few fighting skills that could be a problem. First use the old punch-punch-kick combo and run around him for a bit. This should trigger his mighty kick. If he misses come in with the punch-punch-kick combo again. Around half way through the fight Liquid will crouch down and prepare to run into you. Either avoid this by rolling out of the way or roll into him to cause some damage. Don’t worry about the time limit because it doesn’t take that long to defeat him. Once his life gauge is empty a cut scene will come into play and show both brothers fighting it to the death. Snake smashes Liquid off Rex and plummets to the ground. ‘Ssnnnaaaakkkkeeee’ You win. Congrats!

Do the same for the Big Boss Ranking.
