INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my Ninja Gaiden guide. Here I will give you all the information needed to take on all the bosses Ryu’s solo adventure has to throw at you. So sharpen your blades and get ready to take down some of the meanest bosses of the series.

MURAI

Murai is a big character, but he’s out of shape. Basically this means he can attack you powerfully and quickly if you get too close, but he can’t perform large combos. The best way to take him down is to use the rolling technique to dodge his attacks, and when he leaves himself open roll in and perform combos with the Dragon Sword. Don’t throw shrunken as he will deflect them back and don’t be afraid to heal yourself if it gets too low.

SAMURAI HORSEMAN AND MAGES

This is a tricky battle, seeing as it comes so early in the game. Mages will attack all the time and you need to deal with these guys before you can tackle the Samurai. Wait until a Mage launches a fireball, and then block it. It will now come in for a melee attack, so block it and use a one sword combo to see it off. There are 12 Mages in all, but they drop health when you defeat them. Once all defeated, take on the Samurai by firstly launching arrows at him to wear him down, then use the jumping attack to see him off.

VIGOORIAN COMMANDO

As you did with Murai, it is easiest to work around this boss and block as you go. If you stray too far away, he will fire lasers at you so keep fairly close to him. When he gets tired after a few attempts to hit you, he will pause. Now jump in and slash twice, then start dodging again. It will take time, but it’s the easiest way to tackle him.

DRAGONS

The Dragons are only deadly if you attack them in a group. Instead, run to a wall, which will split them, then run up the wall and slash when they approach. This attack should see them off in only two or three moves. Also, try to get hits in when they rear their heads when they take damage.

GIANT TENTACLE

To start, you need to target the tentacle. Jump at and slash it three times to kill it and repeat this on the second arm. Now the boss is vulnerable as it grows back its tentacles, so slash at its centre. Repeat this process until it dies.

BONE DRAGON

The best way to tackle the Dragon is to slash at its feet. The Dragon has three devastating attacks, but you can spot when he’s about to use them. You can easily roll away from the claw slash, but the tail swipe only occurs once a foot has been destroyed. Also watch for its jaw lunge. This boss gets harder once you’ve destroyed on of its legs. You can also jump and slash to attack above you and then block the falling bones.

ALMA

Arm the ‘Art of the Inferno Ninpo’ immediately and quickly hit her with a fireball. This will stun Alma, giving you the chance to get in with some combos. The jumping down slash attack causes quite a bit of damage, but remember not to run out of Ninpo.

TURRETS, HELICOPTOR AND ROCKET LAUNCHERS

Firstly, block the turrets bullets with your sword, then run behind the big gate and hide. Now use your arrows, peer around the gate and enter first person mode, and then you can pick off the unwary gunners. When the helicopter arrives, simply block its attacks and it will fly off to reload. Now a man with a Rocket launcher will appear, but two arrows will see him off.

TANKS

First, fire a Ninpo ball at the Tank to cause damage and to force the gunner inside. Now arm the APFSDS arrows and use them to cause maximum damage. If you stray too far from the Tank, you will need to dodge its fire so stay close.

WORM

Use the Explosive arrow to cause damage from distance, as you can’t get too close because the water was electrified. Once you’ve wore it down with arrows, the Worm will retreat into its hole. Use this time to get in closer, but watch for the water. Use the Thunder hammer as it causes the most damage, and watch for its Body sweep attack, which can be easily jumped.

ANCIENT DRAGON

Your best tactic here should be to use basic combos against the Dragon. Start by jump slashing its leg, as this causes a good amount of damage, and watch for its wing attacks, which you can jump to avoid. When you’ve attacked its legs enough, the Dragon will lower its head, so now’s your chance to do some damage. The Dragon will then fly to another area of the room so repeat the process. Now and again the Dragon will fly up to a pillar and attack, but you can simply stand under the pillar to avoid it.

DOKU

This character can attack best from close range. Work around Doku, blocking and rolling to dodge his attacks and then use the lunging jump swipes to cause maximum damage. It’s best to attack after he tries to attack you.

ICE FIEND

This boss is an easy boss to defeat. Be sure to get behind him, then use the lunging jump and slash attacks to cause damage. Apart from bouncing, his only real attack is huge icicles that he launches at you, but these can be avoided just by moving around. Play it safe and you’ll beat him easy.

FLAME DRAGON

You start on the lower platform. Use the block all the time and when he lowers his head move in and slash. You can avoid the fireballs by rolling and the flame breath can be jumped. Also watch for the firewall, which always seems to cause damage.

On the upper platform, it’s easier because the Dragon lowers its head more often. However, watch for its jaw attack which can cause major damage, so keep moving around.

ALMA 2

This is basically the same as Alma, but now you don’t need to use Ninpo fireballs. Use jump attacks all the time to see her off easily.

SPIRIT DOKU

Again, this is similar to the first Doku battle although this time he is faster, stronger and regains health overtime. Remember to stay close and use slash attacks to see him off.

LORD OF THE FIENDS

The Lord has two basic attacks: Fireballs and a lunging attack. If he is going to use fireballs, he will laugh. And if he is about to lunge, he will move back, so both attacks can be easily spotted. Because he hovers, it is best to use the Flying Swallow attack. He will summon three demons to attack you, but these can be defeated using the Art of Inazuma attack. A simple yet long battle.

VIGOORIAN EMPEROR

To defeat this boss you need plenty of Ninpo energy, so assign the Art of Inferno and attack him. You first need to move the platform near his head and chest, and then fire a few arrows at him. After the cut-scene, use slash attacks on his arms to see him off.

EVIL MURAI

As before, move around him, dodging his attacks. If he catches you with a slash, quickly roll away to avoid a combo. Use the Flying Swallow attack and jumping slashes to see off the final boss.

Thank you for reading my guide. I hope it helped you through the boss battles with little hassle.
