Retro Game Walkthroughs for James Bond 007: NightFire (Gamecube)

The second part of my 'novel walkthrough' (TM)! This is 'THE
EXCHANGE'
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Listen up, 007. A vital piece of missile guidance hardware has
been stolen from a secret U.S. government lab in Japan. MI6 has
received information that Raphael Drake is somehow connected.
This is surprising as Raphael Drake has political connections,
thanks to his work deactivating nuclear warheads and reactors.
Our deep undercover agent has reported that Alexander Mayhew,
Drake's head of Japanese operations, will exchange the stolen
device tonight, during a formal gathering at his Austrian
Castle. Find a way to infiltrate the castle and rendezvous with
the deep cover agent in order to retrieve the device. Remember
that Drake's guards won't take to kindly to intruders - you may
need to meet aggression with aggression. Good luck, 007."

The snow was beautiful, even thousands of feet high up in the
air. It swirled around the Hercules, ramming into it like
bullets, propelled by the wind, and exploding spectacularly
against the cold metal fuselage. What little heat soothed the
rear bay was sucked out by the wind as the huge rear door of the
Hercules opened. From within, a man clad entirely in black, both
his jump-suit and helmet, leapt out. The jumper straightened
out, diving headfirst through the clouds. As the ground below
came into view, hosting a intimidating castle and lethally
jagged rocks, the man's legs and arms moved away from his body,
slowing down his descent as he reached for the parachute cord.
He tore it out vigorously and the parachute burst from within
the pack. He dropped gracefully to the roof of the castle
gatehouse and detached himself from the parachute. He removed
his helmet and dropped it on the floor. James Bond had reached
the castle.

He reached into his pocket and removed his trusty Wolfram P2K.
He removed a silencer from another pocket and screwed it on to
the Wolfram's gun barrel. He casually up to the wall and looked
around. There were two guards in the next gatehouse, each with a
sniper rifle. Another sniper was patrolling around the front of
the gatehouse he stood on and there were three machine- gun
carrying guards at the front gate. He crouched and considered
his point of entry. The front gate would be the quickest way in,
as searching all the way around the castle walls for another
entrance would waste too much of his time. For all he knew,
Mayhew could well be in there already. However, attacking the
guards would make too much commotion. This was to be an
infiltration, not an assault.

A sound alerted him. It was an engine. Bond walked over to the
opposite wall and looked down the approach to the castle. An
truck, possibly a cattle truck, was driving slowly up the hill.
Bond knew that he could jump into the back of that truck easily,
but first he needed another weapon. He ran silently down the
steps, with the skill of many years serving as a double-o, and
opened the door at the bottom. Directly in front, and oblivious
to the door's movement, was a single guard, his back facing
Bond. He was armed with a Winter Covert Sniper Rifle (as were
the other snipers, no doubt), which he rested against his
shoulder, completely unprepared to use it. Bond crept a couple
of steps forward. With one swift movement, he ripped the rifle
out of the guard's hands and pushed the silenced pistol into his
back. The guard understood and automatically threw his hands in
the air. Bond smiled, moved the pistol to the back of the man's
head and pulled the trigger.

As the body collapsed to the floor, hidden from view by a
snow-covered embankment, Bond darted up the stares to his
landing zone, slinging the rifle over his shoulder. The truck
now passed beneath him, through the tumbledown archway, and
continued crawling up the hill. Through extreme good fortune and
bad driving skills, the truck stalled, its open cargo area
staring at Bond invitingly. Bond took a short run up and leapt
towards it, landing softly in the back of the truck. He sat on a
crate, pistol still ready for action and sighed a quick sigh of
relief as the truck's engine purred into life and the vehicle
began moving again. Bond crouched so that his eye-level was
level with the gap between the planks that made up the wall of
the cargo area. Security at this castle obviously wasn't too
tight as the guards did not stop to inspect the truck and didn't
even look into the revealing rear section. The driver spoke
something in Austrian and Bond grinned as the truck trundled
into the outer compound of the castle.

As the truck came to a stop, Bond opened the back door of the
truck and slid out, listening and looking out for any guards. He
heard the driver talk to someone (Bond assumed it was a soldier)
and two voices (more soldiers, probably) in the next courtyard.
He moved towards that courtyard and froze in the archway between
the two. There were two guards, talking loudly on a raised
terrace. Bond reached for the rifle and prepared it, aiming for
the second guard's head. With a quick pull of the trigger, the
bullet exploded silently out of the gun barrel and sped through
the air, embedding itself permanently in the soldier's brain.
Before the first man had even established where the shot had
come from, Bond had prepared for another shot and fired. The
second bullet tore through the guard's shoulder at spectacular
speed and the man clutched it in agony. This allowed Bond to
ready another shot to compensate for the miss. With a final pull
of the trigger, the guard received a bullet between the eyes and
collapsed to the floor.

Bond ran to the two bodies, his feet quietly crushing the crisp
snow. He took one of the machine guns and all of the ammunition,
slinging the machine gun over his other shoulder and attaching
the magazine clips to his belt. He looked around and decided to
go to the right courtyard of the two available. Inside was a
marvellously carved fountain, frozen over by the cruel weather.
In front of it stood a lone guard, facing a door and a window
that revealed another guard. Through the window, Bond could see
a circuit box. He readied his pistol and fired at the first
guard's neck. The bullet hit the target first time and the guard
fell to the floor, at precisely the same time that the
window-guard turned away. He darted up to the door and burst in.
The second the door was open, James dived through, firing two
shot into the guard's chest. The guard fell to the floor as Bond
stood up and walked towards the circuit box.

The plaque above it read "Spotlight Control Circuit". He opened
the box and surveyed the wires. Two tangled red ones and one
green one. The green one was the obvious target, but often the
most obvious was the wrong one. Still, many a time the most
obvious answer was the right one, and his instinct (the most
valuable and reliable of his sources) told him this was one of
these times. He pulled up his sleeve slightly and pressed one of
his watch buttons, aiming the top left corner of his watch at
the wire. The small yet powerful laser beam shredded the cable
and 007 heard the cries of alarm as a dozen spotlights
throughout the castle were cut off.

Calmly and swiftly, Bond walked out of the room back to the
courtyard. He walked through the next archway, finding himself
if another courtyard, surrounded by inactive spotlights and
panicking snipers. He darted swiftly along the courtyard,
reaching yet another one within moments. In this one, a guard
stood behind two barrels, looking around with anxiety. 007
equipped his machine gun and aimed at the barrels. Before the
guard had even realised the British agent was there, the burst
of bullets had pierced the barrel casing, causing a explosion
that sent the guard flying backwards. The courtyard lit up a
fiery orange as Bond ducked into the final courtyard and walked
up to the large door to the castle. His earpiece crackled.

"That's the entrance to the castle, 007," M's tinny voice echoed
through his ear, "There is a formal party inside. Don't cause
any unnecessary alarm - keep your weapons hidden unless
absolutely necessary."

Bond ducked into the corner and began taking off his jumpsuit.
He stood up, dressed in a full tuxedo and strolled up to the
door. The warmth of the castle greeted him like an old friend,
as did the chill that ran up his spine as he saw various armed
bodyguards and elegantly dressed ladies. He walked down the
corridor calmly, struggling to avoid stopping to talk to the
beautiful women around him. He reached what could only be called
a gallery; huge, illustrious portraits and paintings hung on the
wall as the guests mingled around wall high windows overlooking
the mountains. In front of the first window was a beautiful
Japanese girl, dressed in a stunning, figure-hugging red dress.
'And what a figure,' Bond thought. He walked up to her and
smiled charmingly.

"I'm waiting for someone," she began moodily. Bond nodded
courteously, walking behind her and casually admiring her
striking form.

"Enjoying the view?" she asked, gazing amazed at the mountain
landscape.

"Yes," he replied, honestly.

"We haven't been properly introduced," she protested as he
circled around her, smiling with suavity.

"What about improperly?" he asked. This was laughed off and he
walked away, knowing that the conversation was going nowhere.

He continued through the corridors and reached the stairs. He
walked up them and into the gallery for the main ballroom. Most
of the guests had gathered here, obviously awaiting their host.
Bond pulled out his micro- camera, cunningly disguised as a
cigarette lighter, and surveyed the guests, looking for the deep
cover agent. He didn't know who he was, but he would no doubt be
a familiar face.

There was applause as Raphael Drake, his hostess and two
bodyguard entered the room at the top of the stairs. Bond
focused on the woman. Then he realised, the deep cover agent was
a woman. She was a familiar agent from French Intelligence.

"Ladies and gentleman," Drake called out from the top of the
stairs, "Thank you one and all for making your way here tonight.
I want you to know that, thanks to your donations, our World
Refugee Fund is set to be a success. Now if you'd like to go
into the next room there shall be champagne waiting for you."

His audience applauded him and flowed into the next room, like a
puddle of smartly-clad human flesh. Drake watched them leave and
turned to the woman next to him.

"Be the hostess, won't you darling?" he asked, kissing her
gently on the cheek.

She merely nodded and scanned the crowd. No, she realised, he
wasn't there. Then she noticed someone out of the corner of her
eye. She turned and saw a suave, smart man, dressed in a tuxedo
and looking through some sort of camera. That was him, she
thought. With that, Dominique Paridian of French Intelligence
left the room.

007, M called through his earpiece, the deep-cover agent has
arranged to meet you in the library.

Bond watched her leave and made his way back to the staircase.
The once-crowded corridors were now empty, save for two
bodyguards. He ignored these and made his way down the corridor
to the library. He walked in calmly and came face to face with
Dominique.

James! she cried, running towards him and kissing him
passionately.

So, youre the deep-cover agent? the British Agent asked.

Its not as deep as it looks, the Frenchwoman giggled.

Sorry to interrupt your debriefing an American voice
interrupted. Bond turned to see a familiar, yet stunning beauty
walk in, contained tightly by a long red dress.

Agent Zoe Nightshade, CIA, she introduced herself, shaking
hands with Dominique.

Dominique Paridis, she replied, French Intelligence.

Mayhew has just arrived, Nightshade informed Bond.

Drake just left for the conference room, Dominique added, I
imagine that is where hell receive the stolen device. Take this
key, she said, handing it to James, you wont get far without
it.

She turned to Nightshade.

I better get back to the part, before I am missed. And with
that, she left.

I need to get up there and watch the meeting, Bond said,
determination in his frown.

Fine. Ill provide a distraction for you, Nightshade replied,
walking away elegantly. Bond admired her form for a moment
before calling her back.

Is that dress standard company issue, Agent Nightshade? he
asked charmingly, his eyebrow raised with tradition.

Dont get any ideas, 007, she replied, a sweet sting in her
tone, Its armoured in all the right places.

As she walked out, Bond removed the silencer from his pistol and
mentally prepared himself. He darted down the corridors,
constantly looking and listening out for guards. He reached a
corner and heard a human shuffling about. Casually, he reached
inside his left breast pocket and removed a pair of sunglasses.
He put them on, pressing a discretely added switch. The lens
changed colour, providing perfect thermal vision. He analysed
the archway to the next room and saw four blurred human figures.
He removed his sunglasses and dived forward, firing into the
next room. Three of the four guards fell dead, the fourth
looking around in panic. By the time the bodyguard knew what was
happening, bond had stood up and fired three bullets directly
into his chest. He ran past, hastily picking up their spare
ammunition. He burst through the next door and found himself in
a large room with a staircase to the upper floors. Three alarmed
guards began firing at him from behind the bannister, and he ran
towards the bottom of the stairs, returning fire. The middle
guard clutched his chest in agony and fell forward plummeting to
the bottom floor. Bond leapt up the stairs, killing one of the
final two. As he landed, he came face to face with the last
guard, punching him towards the banister before the man could
reload. He ignored the stunned guards plummet and casually
walked through the door ahead, finding himself on the stairway
that Drake had used a short while ago. He opened the first door
quietly and crept in. Reaching once more for his micro camera.

Here it is, Mr Drake, a voice could be heard saying. Bond
crouched on the gallery overlooking the conference room and
focused the camera on the speaker. He was a bald man, English
and elderly, and Bond instantly recognised him as Alexander
Mayhew from the briefing photos. The beautiful Japanese girl
Bond had met earlier accompanied him. Could she be some sort of
bodyguard?

Behind Drake stood an intimidating, muscular coloured man. He
seemed to always have a frown on and, from the dossiers that
Bond remembered, this was probably Mr. Rook, Drakes personal
bodyguard. Bond decided he wasnt in a hurry to confront him.

This is the guidance device we stole from the Americans,
Mayhew continued, handing over a silver briefcase to Drake, I
trust this brings us one step closer to globalisation.

Youve saved our technicians considerable time, Mayhew, Drake
replied, avoiding the question, I trust we can bring forward
the other Nightfire elements.

Absolutely, Mayhew answered enthusiastically, Were well
under way training assault teams for the

He was interrupted by the door bursting open loudly. Two
bodyguards came through, dragging Agent Nightshade with them.

We caught her in the hallway, sir, the first guard explained.

I was looking for the bathroom, was Nightshades protest.

With lock picks and a nine millimetre? the second guard
scoffed.

Hey, its a tough neighbourhood! the American joked.

If this security breach leads back to Japan, Drake spat,
slamming his fists on the table, its your head, Mayhew. She
probably isnt alone lock the castle down NOW! Rook nodded
and walked off.

Secure this in the safe room, Drake commanded the first guard,
who took the briefcase and left immediately, And take the woman
to the cable cars. I dont want her interrogation interrupting
the guests.

Interrogation? Nightfire complained, What kind of a party is
this anyway?

Bond watched her being dragged out of the room before putting
his camera back and making for the window. It was large enough
for a man to walk through so Bond opened it and dropped to the
ledge outside. He looked down towards the end. Two guards stood
on an opposite rooftop unaware of any problems. Above their
heads was a cable, leading up to the ledge that he now stood on.
Bond made sure his Wolfram was tucked tightly into his
waistband and grabbed onto the cable. He slid down rapidly,
alerting the two guards. As they frantically loaded their guns,
he dropped to the floor, span around and fired a single shot
into each mans head. They fell to the floor, the objects on
their belts chiming loudly. Bond crouched down and saw that they
were stun grenades. Picking one up and pulling the pin out, he
threw it down to the door that led into the castle. He turned
away as the grenade unleashed a dazzling flash of white. He
heard the startled and agonised cries of more guards and dropped
down to see them clutching the faces. He shot each one calmly
and headed for the door. It burst open the second before he
reached it and a sub-machine gun toting bodyguard ran out. Bond
dropped to the floor, firing frantically at the guard. He
grabbed the sub-machine gun as the man fell to the ground, and
ran inside.

He found himself in yet another large staircase room, though
this time there was only one guard. HE ran up the stairs,
knocking the guard and walked up to the first door. It was a
thick steel door, controlled by a electronic lock, as the
circuit box at the side confirmed. Bond opened the circuit box,
pulled up his sleeve and pointed his watch at the first circuit
board. It split in two under the intense heat of the laser and
the door swung open. Bond darted in, firing the Storm 32
sub-machine gun at the two guards inside. They fell to the floor
and he casually walked up to the safe. Pointing it towards the
hinges, the watch unleashed the incredibly powerful beam once
more and the two hinges were melted completely within a minute.
The door fell to the floor and Bond reached in, grabbing the
briefcase and a Sentinel rocket launcher, which he hung over his
shoulder. He walked down the stairs and out to the cable car
station, looking out for any guards because he was now unable to
shoot.

He reached the door to the cable car station and reached forward
to open it. It burst open before him as a single guard came
through, only to fall to the floor at the sound of a gunshot. As
the corpse fell, it revealed Agent Nightshade, calmly waiting in
the cable car, a Raptor Magnum in her hand.

Finally, she smiled, What took you so long? Lets get out of
here.

He climbed in and waited patiently as the cable car started. He
marvelled at the site of the castle as they descended.
Treacherously picturesque and regal in the moonlight, it stood
at the top of the mountain with no sign of activity at all. He
admiration was shattered as the gondola swung to a stop and an
attack helicopter rounded the corner and soared towards them.

Youre mine, Rook grinned from within the cockpit, preparing
the rockets.

Bond prepared his Sentinel as Zoë shot through window for him.
He fired towards the helicopter, tapping the buttons and
joysticks to guide the missile to its target. The projectile
crashed spectacularly into the rotor blades, lighting up the
night sky as the helicopter jerked about wildly. Through the
still Austrian night, Bond could hear Rooks agonised screams,
but he ignored them. He climbed out of the roof hatch and
beckoned Nightshade to follow.

Grab onto me, Zoë, he called, grabbing the cable.

I thought youd never ask, she replied.

The two agents slid down the cable and dropped gracefully to the
snow, her landing on her back and him landing on his knees, one
leg either side of her beautiful form.

Nice landing, James, she smiled, Why do you always seem to
land on top?

Uh, lower centre of gravity?

I love this game to bits and try to find out all the good ways to infiltrate buildings. i have found out a brilliant stealth way into the castle on The Exchange level.

first of all you will start off on a ledge of a gateway. go down the stairs to your right and shoot the guard outside the door with the silencer on. then pick up his weapon but switch back to your silenced wolfam PP7. go down the road to your left and shoot the guard but keep your silenced wolfam PP7. go back to the gateway where u started crouch down and go down the little side road. stop halfway down the side road and SNIPER the guard down the bottom of the arch then quickly shoot the sniper in the left tower. then come out of the side road and run to the left tower and pick up the weapons. then shoot the guard walking up the road with the SNIPER and then go through the arch and go in the door to your right and go up the ladder get the armour there might be a sniper rifle there but dont count on it. croch down and go to the window facing the front gates. still crouching sniper out the lights above the front gates. then go down the ladder and crouch. crouching walk to the right and go across the road and go down the stairs. watch the clip and use the yellow analogue to get across to the other side walk round until u get to the windows. press the green button and wait for the guard to walk pass to the right quickly get to the next gap and wait for the guard to go to the left and the other guard to go to the right.t then go to the other gap and then the next and u will get a bond bonus. keep going round until you get to the broken wall go through and walk up the stairs and across the beam and u will get some more ammo and tht is the best way to get into the castle.

please rate me on this thanks!
