Retro Game Walkthroughs for Super Mario Sunshine (Gamecube)
Submitted By: Tribute
You've played Mario Sunshine for hours - Getting numerous shines
and stumping that evil Shadow Mario umpteen times. You've shown
your skill both as a Gamer and as a Mario fan but now you're
stuck - you've fallen at the final hurdle and you can't get past
it. I'm here to help you. You probably won't get much better
with this, my very first walkthrough, but hell, you may as well
try

Follow my instructions exactly and you probably won't get very
far, but use this walk through as a frame to your imagination
and you may just beat that bad old Bowser.

Before you go up to Corona Mountain, make sure you have a wealth
of live to draw from as, once you lose a life it has a snowball
effect, so once you've lost 5 lives in a row in roughly the same
point just stop for a minute and relax. When you come back to
it, you'll more than likely get past it. If you don't, you must
be pretty poor. Or me.

To get up to Corona Mountain, you must swim up to the mountain
base (the plaza will be flooded by the time you get up to it),
and make sure you have your hover pack on.

You start off on 1 of the 3 types of platform you'll be
encountering, which I am calling 'Safe', 'Spiked' and 'Fire'.
Safe is where you can relax and get collected whilst you
contemplate your next move. Safe platforms have patterns on them
and look like they are made out of rock. Spiked has 3 settings -
It stays safe for a few seconds, then turns into a platform with
a few spikes just peeking out. this won't hurt you, but if you
stay on for much longer than that, you'll end up being
massacred. Fire is basically a platform with fire on.

To deal with Spiked platforms you've got to be quick - jump as
soon as you land on it to ensure you don't get turned into an
Italian Kebab, and use the Hover to make sure you don't fall in
the steaming hot Lava below.

The obvious solution for fire is to spray it, but that would
waste time when you are stood on those tedious Spike platforms,
and would end up with you killing you. An easier option is to
hover over the Fire platforms until they extinguish, then
dropping. Beware though - They do come back on fire, and if you
ever feel uneasy whilst waiting for a spike platform to turn
safe.

Using these methods should get you up to the boat part of the
level, which is probably the hardest part. Make sure to refill
on the jet of water that is spraying from the ground on the
platform before the boat. Also, butt stomp the box to get an
extra life, of which you may need.

To go forward in the boat, be sure to face straight backwards
and spray. You need to spray to opposite sides to turn your boat
away from the rocks which block your way and, if you collide
with them, sink your boat.

Be sure to take things slowly, as rushing will no doubt lose you
a life as well as all your progress. their are a lot of blue
coins around the platform of which you are aiming to get to, but
you can get to them later. First, jump onto the safe platform
and jump onto the red box and pick up the nozzle and use it to
squirt yourself up into the cloud. From them it is all about
timing, as you propel yourself onto a series of clouds. This
shouldn't be too hard for anybody.

After a few clouds, you'll finally get to Bowser. One tip -
Don't bother with Baby Bowser, he is worthless. in fact, don't
even try getting Big bowser, because spraying him won't do a
thing to his health. All you need to do is to get to the 'sticky
outy bits' of the hot tub and use the new nozzle to fire
yourself up into the air, then butt stomp your way down onto the
target.

It's a struggle to get back onto the hot - tub, as the platform
crumbles to the nothingness below you, but charge up your jet
Pack to make sure that, if you fall, you'll be fired back onto
the hot tub.

You've got to do this 5 times, which may sound easy, but you've
got a lot of obstacles to deal with. Baby Bowser is firing
bullet-bombs at you, which are simple to avoid, as well as
Bowser tipping the tub sometimes, and breathing fire. Of course
their are personal hazards, like falling off, but those are easy
to avoid if you are a good player.

The FLUDD tells you how many things their are left to destroy,
and once you've done all 5, all their is left to do is watch the
end sequence. Enjoy, you've completed the game of the year.
