Retro Game Walkthroughs for Worms 3D (Gamecube)
Submitted By: Ghost Killer
Worms 3D is one fun game and with so many weapons to choose from it's hard to decide on which one is best suited to which situation. Also where do you begin. Attack? Defense? So here for you all to enjoy is Ghost Killer's weapons and battle tips guide to Worms 3D.

Battle Tips
-----------

Jumping & Moving Around

When facing the opposition with only one worm left and them having perhaps three or four. Then times that by three as there are two more teams. then you have a pretty horrible situation. But all is not lost. Remember that you do not just have to shoot on the spot. You have many items to help you along your way. Ninja rope, jetpack, parachute and bungee jump are just a few. Anyway if a worm has 100% health the best thing to do is dispose of him quickly. There are many ways of doing this and they all invlove attacks that result in that worm falling to his death in the ocean. Use prods or shotguns as these are simple yet effective. They require hardly any accuracy and have the best results. Don't be afraid to jump about. Press the jump button twice to do a huge leap and press it once for a simple jump. Both are great for moving around. Go ahead take that risk!

Defense

When defending use girders and the landscape to it's advantage. Use buildings on the military levels so incoming fire will simply hit the roof and not you. When in open areas on a small piece of land use girders to place above your worm to block incoming missles from other players. When teleporting never ever move to a spot next to another worm or in an open area. This leaves you open to incoming fire and even close combat.

Offense

Just because your careful doesn't mean you can't have fun. When attacking the best thing you can always do is try to knock the opposition into the water with the simplist of moves. It may not be swish but it's needed if you want to win. When moving above you have an advantage over the opposition as you can see everyone. This is only advised however when there is also protection there too. Save good weapons for when there are more than one of the opposition in one area. For example place a holy grenade or banana bomb smack in the centre of three worms and watch them fly. This is a great way to save weapons for later and also eliminate the opposition. you'll find many new ways to attack as the options are endless. These are just starters and are the best way to lead you to victory.

Weapons
-------

I have given a good point and bad point for each weapon. And when rating weapons I grade them out of ten stars on damage, accuracy, explosion radius and most importantly fun factor. Here is an explanation of what exactly I mean by each grade:

Damage is based on how much damage is actually done to the worm.

Accuracy is based on how much accuracy and how difficult it is to successfully use that weapon. Ten stars means that you need extremely good acuracy while one means hardly any at all.

Explosion Radius is based on how big the explosion is or how many there are.

Fun factor is of course based on how fun and entertaining it is to use the weapon.

WORMS 3D - GAMECUBE - WEAPONS WALKTHROUGH

Everyone loves blowing up worms with highly explosive weaponry and Worms 3D is one of the few games that let's you do just that. This walkthrough will help you choose the right weapons for the right situations, making killing the little pink things a lot easier.

BAZOOKA
The bazooka is the starter weapon, if you like, not being too complicated but still deadly effective. This particular weapon is perfect for curling around hills that block you from damaging fellow worms. If you want to use this weapon to maximum effective, the wind is essential. Just simply take into account the power of the wind and the direction it's pointing in to hit targets in normally hard-to-reach areas. Using the wind does take a bit of getting used to, because it drastically affects where your bazooka shot will hit, aiming is a little tougher than other weapons, especially for beginners. But once you master it, the Bazooka will surely become your weapon of choice. When you do hit an enemy worm, the explosion will most likely fling the victim into the water, but when that fails, normally 50 to 100 health is depleted with a direct hit, and when it lands near the worm, they'll only lose 15 to 30 health. The only problem is, at close range this shouldn't be used. While it would almost certainly get rid of your foe, the blast will damage you a fair bit, and it's not really worth it.

POWER - 7/10
ACCURACY - 4/10
AIMING - 7/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 10/10

GRENADE
This weapon is perfect for worms either much higher up than you, or hiding behind a hill very close to you. There's one thing you must remember; never use full power when throwing grenades. If you throw them too far, they'll blow up in mid-air, causing no worms any damage at all. Instead, throw it with minimal power (depending on how high the hill is) to reach you foe. Also, if a worm is concealed in a cave of some sort with a small opening, try your best to reach that area with your grenade. While the explosion won't cause your enemy to fly into the water, it will take off around 50 health. Just remember not to use grenades in tight spots, as it may result in accidental suicide, and trying to target open area's that are far away should be avoided, as the grenade will most likely end up at the bottom of the sea.

POWER - 7/10
ACCURACY - 5/10
AIMING - 6/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 3/10

HOMING MISSILE
While you won't be able to use these at the very start of a battle, it's a hugely effective weapon. You don't need to worry about the wind affecting it, just make sure you’re in an open area (not in a small opening) and follow these instructions. First of all, hold L to get a birds-eye view of the battlefield. There's also a little crosshair for your missile, so press A when the crosshair is above the worm you want to destroy, and it will revert to the normal viewpoint. The only trouble is, it can be quite hard to get the crosshair exactly above the worm, because it's so sensitive, slight movements are almost impossible. Once you've done that, though, aim straight up into the air and fire the missile at full power; it will then home in on the worm and either force him to take an early bath, or the explosion will kill him (unless you've set health above 100). As long as there aren't any tall mountains blocking the worm, the missile will hit perfectly.

POWER - 10/10
ACCURACY - 9/10
AIMING - 3/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

MORTAR
Because the wind doesn't affect this weapon at all, it's perfect for beginners to use. On contact, it breaks into smaller bombs, which explode when they hit the ground. It's best to use this weapon when there are more than one worm in one area; you can either fire at them directly, or let the smaller bombs get rid of them. From long range, it's best to try and let the smaller explosions catch them out; if there's a large mound right near them, try to hit it and the Mortar should drop below and get them, reducing each worm's health by about 50.

POWER - 8/10
ACCURACY - 9/10
AIMING - 9/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

HOMING PIGEON
This is almost identical to the homing missile except for two things; it's harder to find and can be used in small, concealed places. To fire the weapon, use exactly the same technique that you would for the homing missile, except, because the pigeon can fly upwards, you don't have to worry about where you fire it from. It also takes of about the same amount of health off and usually makes the worm fall to its doom, rather than depleting all of its health.

POWER - 10/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 3/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

CLUSTER BOMB
To use the Cluster Bomb, just use the same technique as you would when using a grenade. There are a few differences, though; throwing this weapon at full power is sometimes a good idea. If there are a few enemy worms in one area, either try to use the same technique that you did when using the Mortar (by hitting a small mound just above the worms), or throw it directly above them at full power. When it explodes in mid-air, the smaller bombs will drop down and land on them. This is much more effective than a grenade, and perfect for a crowd of enemy worms, normally depleting about 50 health from each worm.

POWER - 8/10
ACCURACY - 7/10
AIMING - 6/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 3/10

GAS CANISTER
Like both grenade and cluster bomb, it's best to try and throw these weapons either over big chunks of land or where groups of enemy worms are gathering. The trick is to use this weapon as early on in the battle as possible; because it poisons any worms that get too close to it, it will slowly eat away at their health. This is especially helpful when you foe is trying to hide away, as you can leave him until the poison finally finishes him off. Try not to use this weapon too much, though, as mid-battle it can be a bit pointless; it only causes minimal each turn, so expect to get rid of worms easily with it. Plus the wind has no affect on it, so trying to blow the gas towards a group of worms won't help either.

POWER - 3/10
ACCURACY - 8/10
AIMING - 6/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 3/10

HOLY HAND GRENADE
This is identical to the normal grenade except for two things; it's hugely powerful and prior to it exploding, you get to hear "Halleluiah!" Because it's such a powerful weapon, it's perfect for big groups of worms; not only does a take a huge chunk of earth with it when it detonates, but it also depletes in the excess of 100 health. Just use exactly the same technique you would when using the normal grenade, but keep in mind that it's a lot harder to get hold of and it's twice as powerful.

POWER - 10/10
ACCURACY - 7/10
AIMING - 6/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 3/10

SHOTGUN
This is a great weapon for both close and long range combat, and perfect for knocking worms into the water. You get to fire two shots, but each shot only drains 25 health. If you want use the Shotgun to full effect, it's best to try and either hit your foe into the water (if he's on the very edge of a platform or island) and if there are a large group of worms with a barrel nearby, shoot the barrel and it should damage most, if not all, of the little pink things. What's so good about the shotgun is, not only do you get two shots, but it's also the most accurate weapon Worms 3D has to offer. The only trouble is, if the wind is very high, aiming can be tough; the weapon will move around, making hitting a target all the more difficult. But if there isn't any wind and you need to hit a worm in a far-away section of the battlefield, then this is perfect.

POWER - 6/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 4/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

UZI
The wind has exactly the same effect on this weapon as it does on the Shotgun; it makes aiming horrible. Furthermore, this isn't as accurate as the Shotgun, because it fires off bullets rapidly, the Uzi is constantly moving and makes it very hard to hit targets far away. But it is a lot more powerful; in close combat, if you use a full Uzi round on one worm, you take off 50 it's health. Plus, if there’a a row of enemy worms on very low health, spraying Uzi bullets left and right is a great way to damage a number of them, and hopefully get rid of a few.

POWER - 8/10
ACCURACY - 7/10
AIMING - 4/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

PETROL BOMB
The effects of this weapon are very similar to that of the barrels that lie around each battlefield; on contact, they explode into a number of flames that litter a small area. This is perfect to use against a group of worms, and accuracy isn't a problem; if there's a few enemy worms on a platform up above you, throw the petrol bomb as hard as you can near the edge; flames will then spread on the top and hopefully damage the worms. It may only deplete about 20 health from each worm, but when there's a big group it amounts to quite a bit of damage.

POWER - 7/10
ACCURACY - 8/10
AIMING - 5/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 3/10

STICKY BOMB
Sticky Bombs are great to use against far away targets that grenades, or Holy Hand Grenades, would normally bounce off. Because they stick to any surface, they're perfect for both getting rid of mountains or other things blocking your way, and reaching far away worms. If there are a few enemies hiding away in a cave (or something similar), using a sticky bomb is the best option. The only problem is, damage taken is normally only about 30 unless the bomb lands directly on the worm, so it's a bit less powerful than other bombs on offer

POWER - 6/10
ACCURACY - 9/10
AIMING - 7/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 5/10

FIRE PUNCH
Out of the hand-to-hand combat weapons in Worms 3D, this is best for punching foes out of a cave or any kind of hole in the ground. While it may not be very powerful, it only drains 30 health per punch, it's perfect for hitting foes into the water, and you'll have no trouble hitting your opponent, either.

POWER - 5/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

BASEBALL BAT
Again, this only depletes 30 health, but you can hit foes much further, rather than higher, making hitting enemy worms into the water from long platforms simple.

POWER - 5/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

VIKING AXE
This is the most powerful of the hand-to-hand combat weapons, draining 50 to 100 health with one strike. The only trouble is, not does this weapon fail to fling the enemy worm into the water, but it's also quite hard to aim. You have to line your hit up exactly, and if you're too close you'll miss altogether. It can get annoying at times, but it's great for finishing off close worms.

POWER - 8/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 5/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

PROD
The prod is quite simply to push those little pink things into the water. It causes no damage at all, just hits them back. It's perfect when someone's near the very edge of a platform, and you normally have an unlimited amount of them, so it can be useful. Just don't try to finish off a worm with health below 5 because this won't do a thing.

POWER - 0/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

LAND MINE
Land Mine's are fairly powerful, and often catch unsuspecting worms out. If you're trying to keep a specific area your own, using Land Mines is perfect; placing them in areas that are hard to see is your best bet. Although don't just lay them anywhere, because you may end up forgetting about it and stumbling across it by accident later.

POWER - 8/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

DYNAMITE
Dynamite is like a Land Mine in every way except you have 5 seconds before it explodes, instead of waiting for a worm to walk over it. This is perfect for getting rid of a couple of worms and it causes major damage; normally around 50 to 100 health is drained. It's best to target large groups of enemy worms, as the explosion has a fair amount of reach.

POWER - 9/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

SHEEP
While hard to find, sheep are very useful weapons. Once you let them go, they run in a straight line, jumping over any water that may be in their way, then either after 10 seconds have passed, or they hit a worm, they detonate. They're perfect for reaching worms a few platforms away from you and the explosion drains a lot of energy; normally from 50 to 100. The only problem is, they can't seem to jump over gaps very high up, only ground-level platforms, and occasionally they'll veer off course and end up damaging nothing.

POWER - 9/10
ACCURACY - 7/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

OLD WOMAN
The Old Woman works in the same way that the sheep does except it moves a lot slower (and can't jump over gaps) and the explosion is a lot more powerful. It's only real use is if you're on the same island or platform as a group of enemy worms, setting an Old Women off may well get rid of all of them. Trying to use them in other places in the battlefield is just pointless because it'll most likely end up sinking, or destroying a random section of land.

POWER - 10/10
ACCURACY - 5/10
AIMING - 10/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

AIR STRIKE
The Air Strike is the ultimate weapon in Worms 3D; while you won't be able to use it from the very start of a battle, it's the most destructive weapon of all. The best time to use is when two or three enemy worms are perfectly lined up, on a platform very high up (and not in any kind of cave or small opening). Then you must hold L and you'll see a crosshair appear in the birds-eye view, with arrows pointing towards where the Air Strike will go. Like both Homing Missile and Pigeon, this can be quite fiddly and often annoying, but try you best to get it lined up perfectly otherwise you may not hit the enemy worms. Then when you've finally got the crosshair in the right place, press A to let rip. Any worms in the way will either have all of their health drained or will fly into the water below, destroying the little pink guys.

POWER - 11/10
ACCURACY - 10/10
AIMING - 3/10
WIND EFFECTIVENESS - 0/10

There you have it, a complete guide to the weapons in Worms 3D. You should also watch out for special versions of some weapons, exclusive to some teams (Such as the Banana Bomb and Mad Cow, upgrades of the Holy Hand Grenade and Sheep) and secret weapons only found in crates (like the Nuclear Bomb). But for now enjoy some of the craziest weapons around that are now simple to use!
