Metal Gear Solid 2 Boss Guide

This walkthrough contains the quickest and easiest ways to defeat bosses.


Snake's Bosses

Olga : At the beginning of the battle go into first person view mode and find a big light shining upwards. Shoot this light and stop it from working because Olga usually positions this to block your view but if you shoot it you will ge more time to attack. Also at first you might think that you can't kill her because you only have a tranquiliser gun but you can still defeat her with it. At firs Hide behind a low crate while ducking then go into first person view mode and shoot her whenever you can. When ever her stun guage goes to a certain point she will start using grenades, for this battle you will need the sound because when your hiding and can't see her the only way you know she has chucked a grenade is the sound of a rattle on the floor, if you hear the rattle run to the opposite side of the area and you will have escaped the ground.

Raiden's Bosses

Solidus Snake ( Helicopter ): For this all you need to do is keep running around the structure this way the enemy helicopter won't hit you as much. While using the stinger missile try and lock on to the cockpit of the Helicopter because this takes off more damage than hitting the tail of it. During most battles there are recovery items and extra ammo, but in this battle you won't see any but still don't worry because snake in his helicopter will drop items for you.


Fortune : In this game you don't defeat Fortune because you can't touch her, so in this battle hide behind a big object so she can't hit you and when or if it gets destroyed run behind another one. Eventually after a while the colonel will contact you by codec after this there is a movie which ends the battle.

Fat man : In this battle you will need to use collant on some c4 that fatman plants. So in this battle keep your sensor a on. First spray the c4 then run after Fatman and shoot him, when he falls down get in first person view mode and shoot him in the head before he gets up. This way the battle should be over quickly.

Vamp : Vamp can be extremely fast, so the best gun to use is your machine guns because they have the best chance of hitting him. If you see an orange glowing orb on the floor near you, you won't be able to move your feet and meenwhile Vamp is advancing towards you so get in first person view mode and shoot the orb so you can run away from Vamp before he comes close enough toattack you. Also Vamp might dissapear from view because he jumps on to the platform above you around the sides of the room, so watch out he will throw knives at you, although they come really slow they are a bit difficult to see and if they hit you they can do a lot of damage.

Vamp (2) : This part is very easy because I wouldn't reall call vamp a boss because one quick shot to the head with a sniper bullet and Vamp dies he is too easy to call a boss, also he can't hurt you so it is impossible to die. There is only one thing you can do at this so called boss, because he is to far to shoot with a normal gun use a sniper gun and shoot him in the head. If you decide to hit Vamp in the body it will take more than one hit.

Metal Gear Prototypes : All you have to do in this is keep shooting the heads of the Metal Gears with a stinger missile and the battle should be over in a couple of minutes for precautionkeep rations on the bottom of the left hand side of the screen so you won't die. Apart from that the battle is too easy.

Solidus Snake : In this battle you only have a sword as a weapon so you need to handle your timing carefully so you don't get hit as often. Also a brilliant idea is to keep rations on the bottom of the screen because this way you don't have to worry about getting hit as much. Also watch out for the flames that Solidus cause because they are annoying when your on low life. Also be wary of falling off the building because it can happen quite easily when you are not careful.

METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY

Before you begin...

L2 opens your weapons menu, to select a weapon, highlight it,
and
Let go. To fire a weapon, use the square button. R2 opens your
Items, to select an item, highlight it and let go of R2. Using
Items may differ controls.

RATIONS: I didn't make this clear in my Metal Gear Solid
Walkthrough, only equip rations, NEVER use them, when your LIFE
Reaches zero, the ration will automatically take.

TANKER


(SOLID SNAKE- a former elite soldier serving FOXHOUND, snake is
A master of stealth tactics. He demonstrated these unique
skills
During the Outer Heaven Crisis. He is most famous however, for
His latest mission during Shadow Moses, after which, he and his
Partner, Hal Emmerich- or OTACON- established "Philanthropy",
an
Anti-Metal Gear organization.)

AFT DECK

You start behind a large metal object, look up and shoot the
Guard on Deck C (The top). Go right as far as you can, then up
To the stairs, go up these and shoot the guard up there. Then
Turn left and use the triangle button repeatedly to open the
Door.

DECK B CREW'S QUARTERS

Go past the stairs and then up, you'll see a very short CUs
Scene of a guards shadow. Shoot him then go past him, and keep
Going left until you come to the stairs at the other end, go up
These.

DECK C CREW'S QUARTERS

It may seem that the way is clear, but that's an illusion,
there
Is a surveillance camera, to get past this, flatten yourself
Against the wall, and keep going until you get past it, keep
Going right until you get to the first flight of stairs, and go
Up them.

DECK D CREW'S QUARTERS

You�ll see that a guard goes past you into the next room, go
There and shoot him. Go down to the left of the first table,
and
Past the camera. You can get past this one by keeping to the
Bottom of your screen. If you need to, shoot the next guard and
Head up the stairs.

DECK E THE BRIDGE

There will be a cut scene and a codec call, after these, go in
Front of the door to your left, collect the ration, and head
out
The door.

NAVAGATINAL DECK WING

(OLGA GERLUKOVICH- The daughter of Serge Gerlukovich, she grew
up in the Russian army. She has developed into a formiddible
gunfighter, but Sergi dose not want Olga to come under fire in
this mission, since she is carrying his grandchild.)

THE FIGHT WITH OLGA

After the cut scene, take cover as Olga shoots at you, and
equip
your rations. Shoot the light so that she can't use it against
you later. Keep aiming for Olga's head, if you get 4 head
shot's, she'll go down. If you run out of Rations or ammo, more
will appear. When Olga throws a grenade, roll away from it,
keeping out of sight.
After the fight, you'll now have the Russian model, USP
handgun.
Be careful, you must still use your M9, because this has a
suppresor, the USP dosen't. Head back into the door, and down
the sairs.

DECK D CREW'S QUARTERS

The gaurds are basicly in the same place, go past them and down
the stairs.

DECK C CREW'S QUARTERS

There might be a gaurd patrolling the area this time, shoot him
and head right and up, collect the ration, and go back to the
locker, open it to find Chaff grenades, use these to get past
that camera, and down the stairs.

DECK B CREW'S QUARTERS

go up and right, shoot the gaurd, go round, and in the first
door you come to.

DECK A CREW'S LOUNGE

Shoot the Gaurd(s) patrolling here and go down the stairs,
right, and down the stairs you come to, collect the Stun
grenades at the bottom and go through the door.

ENGINE ROOM

Go up and then right, open the first locker you come to to
find... well I'll let you find out. go down and through the
door, and shoot the gaurd, Now head down the stairs and shoot
the gaurd at the bottom. go down the next stairs and shoot the
next gaurd. Go left, the up to collect the ration. go back down
then up the stairs, shoot the gaurd with the binoculars. And,
you might want to have a look with your cameras zoom to see
what
that gaurd was looking at! This is a good place to shoot of the
rest of the gaurds, then head up the rest of the stairs and
through the door. Go up and you'll see a gaurd radioing
someone,
wait until he's fineshsed and shoot him. Now keep going up
until
you get a codec call from OTACON.

THE SEMTEX

NOTE: Sometimes not all the SEMTEX Listed here will be on the
difficulty setting you have chosen.

Climb onto the crate with the USP Bullets on top of it and look
forward to see the first one. Shoot it with your USP.

Lie on the floor and take a look in first peron veiw mode to
see
up to 2 more, shoot these.

Now all the SEMTEX won't work, just to make sure, shoot the bag
of flower.

DECK 2 PORT

run up and shoot the first gaurd, then run up again until you
hear some music from a walkman. wait, then shoot this dancing
gaurd. Collect the USP Bullets and proceed right until you come
to a sleeping gaurd, shoot him, because he might wake up, and
keep going right. Collect the USP Bullets and go out the door.

DECK 2 STARBOARD

Get the USP Bullets, equip your rations and USP, and go down
until there is a cut scene.

THE FIGHT AGAINST THE GAURDS

Do the same as you did with Olga, but watch the guy throwing
the
grenades, you'll have to take him out in first person veiw.

HOLD NO. 1

After the codec call, go down the two ladders, right until you
get to the projector, crawl under this, making sure not to
touch
any marines, and then run as far right as you can. You'll see a
hatch, open this and go down, crawl through the volt till you
get to the end, then go up the ladder and through the door.

HOLD NO. 2

run forward to the right of the Marines, when you get to metal
parts of the floor, roll or crawl past them. You may have to
take out a gaurd with your M9. go through the door at the end.

HOLD NO. 3

(SCOTT DOLPH- is the Marine Commandant, he has one aim: to
leave
this world a little better than he found it. His greatest hope,
is for his daughter never to experiance nucular war. His hopes
are alro focused on Metal Gear RAY.)

now you'll see Metal Gear RAY. Take a picture from the
front-right, then run behind the marines and take a picture of
the front of RAY. Then keep running to the front-left of RAY,
and take a snap. There may be a few gaurds for your M9. run
beside RAY and take a picture of the "MARINES" lettering, now
go
to the bottom right of this area and give OTACON these pictures
from the computer.

BIG SHELL


STRUT A DEEP SEA DOCK

(CLONEL ROY CAMPBELL- Campbell first proved himself with the
Marines, then the Green Berets. Following the departure of Big
Boss, he was appointed commander of special op's unit FOXHOUND.
He directed Solid Snake's missions in Zanzibar and Shadow Moses
Island.

RAIDEN- his real name is Jack, he is a member of the special
oporations unit FOXHOUND, all his training is the force XXI
trials and V.R Missions. He has never seen battle. His job is
top secret, even to the official Navy SEAL's rescue team.

DEAD CELL- A special Unit established by former president
George
Sears. Their job is to test millitery security systems. The
unit
rebelled, following the arrest of their former leader, Colonel
Jackson. Jackson later died, and Dead Cell have reacted with
terrorest attacks. Officialy, the unit has been broken up,
leaving just three survivours.)

You will now take on the role of Raiden. If you are playing on
Very Easy, crawl under the shelf next to the stairs and collect
the M9. go up the stairs and go into the middle locker and get
the ration. go up and into the next door. Following the codec
call, go up then through the next door. after the cut scene, go
to the gaurds, if you have the M9, shoot them, if you don't,
drag them into the lockers. NOTE: If you have the M9 you'll
have
to shoot them again after logging into the node.
Go to the node and log in.

(ROSE- As an analyst, her job is to process, and store data.
She
has never been part of a feild mission. She was chosen because
no-one else knows as much about Raiden as her. She always
addresses
Raiden by his first name, and uses codec for personal
convesations with him.)

Wait for the lift to come down, then go in it.

STRUT A ROOF

Go left then up and crawl through the hole in the fence. You
will recive a codec call from Campbell. After the call, go
down,
and into the door.

STRUT A PUMP ROOM

Go down the stairs. After the cut-scene, sneak past the gaurd
and log into the node. Now exit the place through the door at
the top left.

AB CONNECTING BRIDGE

Run up to one of the railings on the platform that the gaurds
are protrolling. Flatten yourself against it and hit the
triangle button. You will now be in Hanging mode, use this to
get past the two gaurds and exit through the door at the end.

STRUT B TRANSFORMER ROOM

Run forward and watch the cut scene.

(VAMP- a founding member of Dead Cell, Vamp is known for his
knife weilding skills and strange powers. When he was a child,
he and his family were buried under the collapse of a church
which was attacked with a bomb. His family was killed, and he
was speared by a cross. He had to survive two days by drinking
his family's blood. Vamp led Dead Cell until Jacksons widow
took
over.

IROQUOIS PLISKEN- serves in the Navy SEALs as a Lieutenant
Junior Grade. He follows his own rules, he is not exactley your
typical lieutenant, the SEALs would normally be directed form
Command Post via headphones. Plisken knows alot about
FOXHOUND.)

After this, if you are playing in Very easy mode, the
suppresser
for the SOCOM will be right next to you. Attach it to your gun.
Run up, and out of the door. Open the first locker to recive
SOCOM ammo. Now exit through the door ahead.

BC CONNECTING BRIDGE

There will be a cut scene.

(FORTUNE- The leader of Dead Cell, her real name is Helena
Dolph
Jackson. Her father was Scott Dolph, who died on the tanker two
years ago. Her husband was the former leader of Dead Cell. She
is Known for he incredible luck, no bullet will touch her, no
grenade will explode near her... Her weapon in a rail gun that
fires bullets with electronic magnetic force. No-one else is
able to use this prototype.)

run past the bridge, collecting the Chaff Grenades, and exit
through the door at the other end.

STRUT C DINING HALL

there will be no gaurds potrolling at the moment, head down the
hall, and through the door to the North. A cut-scene will
follow.

(PETER STILLMAN- An explosives expert, Stillman has niether
wife, nor children, and his good name means everything to him.
However, he blames himself for an incident where a church blew
up, killing those inside, and children playing nearby. The
explosion also cost Stillman a leg, and withdrew from active
duty, until now.)

After the cut scene, go to the bathroom on the right, the C4
Bomb will be just above the mirror to the right. Use the
Coolent
spray to freeze it. Now go back to the BC Connecting Bridge.

BC CONNCETING BRIDGE

There will now be a Cypher here, you can either shoot it or use
your Chaff to get past.

STRUT B TRANSFORMER ROOM

If you have the M9 take out the gaurds, then the cameras. If
you
don't, take out the gaurds QUICKLY before the radio for help.
You can also try holding them up and snapping their necks.
However way you deal with them, the C4 is behind the open door
of the cupboard. Now head back down to the AB Connecting Bridge

AB CONNECTING BRIDGE

use the hanging mode to get past the gaurds.

STRUT A PUMP ROOM

Take out the gaurds and Camera. the C4 is in the room where the
camera was. Go up then down the stairs that you see when you
first eneter the room. crawl under the pipes, go left, under
the
next piepes, then when you get to the next ones, when you're
under them, go down, and you'll see the C4. Now, is your
playing
in Hard or Extreme Modes, go to the Strut A Roof.

STRUT A ROOF.

Take out the gaurd, then go down to the bottom right of the
fence, the C4 is there. Now go back down to Strut A Pump Room,
then turn right and up to the FA Connecting Bridge.

FA CONNECTING BRIDGE

There is a Cypher and a Gaurd here. Take them out (Gaurd
First),
then head over to Strut F.

STRUT F WAREHOUSE

Take out all the guards on the first floor without making any
noise. Now go to the left of the railings and hang down, then
drop. You should be on top of some crates, go down the left of
them and you'll see the C4. Nutrilize it. Climb up the crates
and take out the gaurds. Go to the bottom of the lower level
that your on and enter the door to your left. You should now be
in a room full of lockers. NOTE: I've just reilized I've not
informed you that you need to log in to the node at every strut
to get the radar working. You should now take the opportunity
to
do this.
go down to the bottom of the room and crawl into the vent
shaft.
it will lead you to a part of the warehouse with a SOCOM
Suppresser, Mine Detector, SOCOM Bullets, and M9 Bullets. Climb
up the crates and drop down, now exit the room. Go up and then
up the stairs and out the door at the top.

EF CONNECTING BRIDGE

take out the Cyphers and Guard at the top of the Strut ahead
after the codec call from "Mister X". Use your mine detector to
locate the mines and dispose of them by crawling into them. Now
keep going up and through the door at the end.

STRUT E PARCEL ROOM

Dispose of the gaurds and (if your playing in Hard or Extreme
modes) The cameras. Log into the node. If your playing in Hard
or Extreme, a C4 Bomb will appear on one of the crates or boxes
on the convayor belt. Have your Coolant spray at the ready. Now
head up the stairs.

STRUT E HELIPORT

Go up the stairs and now you'll be confronted by Olga
Gerlukovich. Continue up the stairs and take out the gaurds.
Head to the top of the airplane and crawl under it to reveal
the
C4. go back down the stairs to the parcel room, and out the
door
to the left.

DE CONNECTING BRIDGE

There will be two gaurds here, get past them and into the door
at the other end.

STRUT D SEDIMENT POOL

Log into the node at the bottom of you and take care of the
gaurds. If your playing in Had or extreme, the first C4 is
under
the hatch to the northe. If your playing in Extreme mode, there
will be another one at the top of the stairs. Go down the
stairs
to the bottom section and locate the C4 under the hatch to the
west. Now go up the stairs and west, then through the door.

CD CONNECTING BRIDGE

There is a camera directley abouve you. Use you SOCOM to
eliminate it, then there will be a gaurd on the bridge, get
past
him and go through the door.

STRUT C DINING HALL

Avoiding all gaurds, go to where Stillman has hiding out and
collect Sensor B. After the Codec call, proceed quickley to
Strut A, you can use the previous directions above.

STRUT A PUMP ROOM

Head to the roof of Strut A.

STRUT A ROOF

stand on the the elevator.

STRUT A DEEP SEA DOCK

run down to where Raiden started his mission, equip Sensor B.
The Bomb is in differant places, depending on which difficulty
you are using. Look for the bomb, and nutrilize it.
Now head up to the elevator.

SURVIVING FORTURE

When you start, run away from that area, because a flamible
liquid is spreading at your feet. Do some rolls to get away,
thats all there is to it. Wait for Campbell to call. You cant
hit her with bullets, so don't even try.

STRUT A ROOF

Head back to Strut E Heliport.

STRUT E HELIPORT

Use the coolant spray on the C4, trust me, you cant miss it.
Now
you'll be fighting Fatman

(FATMAN- Fatman was a loner even as a child. His father was a
clock maker. When he was ten, Fatman built an Atomic Bomb,
which
turned him into a legend among explosive experts. "Fatman" was
the name given to the plutonium bomb droped on Nagaski by the
Americans. He was Stillmans pupil, and he was fired by NEST,
then joined Dead Cell.)

THE FIGHT AGAINST FATMAN

A good Idea is to use Claymore mines, however, you will have to
remember where you put them all. as soon as Fatman plants C4,
use the Coolant. Use your punches and kicks to knock him down,
then aim at his head. You can also shoot him to knock him down.

THE FINAL BOMB

After defeating Fatman, there will beone last bomb, it's under
Fatman's body, drag him away and spray the bomb. You will also
get Peter Stillmans Dogtag. now go down the stairs.

(THE NINJA- this mysterius fighter makes contact with Raiden
via
Codec and warns him of traps. He wears the same Ninja outfit as
Gray Fox did in Shadow Moses, but he's dead...)

now head to the strut F warehouse

STRUT F WAREHOUSE

go down the stairs avoiding the gaurds and into the room beside
you to collect the AKS74U. Equip your B.D.U (Body Disguise
Uniform) and the AK. NOTE: This will only work in Shell 1's
core. Head to the EF Connecting Bridge.

EF CONNECTING BRIDGE

Eliminate any threats and head quickley to the core.

SHELL 1 CORE 1F

Head to the node and then the elevator, be careful not to bump
into any gaurds or your uniform will come flying off! In the
elevater, press B2.

SHELL 1 CORE B2

go down the stairs and in the big section in the middle to
collect the D. Mic, head back up to the elevator and press B1.

SHELL 1 CORE B1

Go out of the elevator and get behind a gaurd where no other
gaurds can see you. Unequip your AK and press square to grab
his
neck, if he struggled pres square again, youll also need to
keep
hold of sqaure, or youll let go. pull him up to the Biometrics
and make him face it.
After the Cut scene, go down and locate Ames, he will be in a
differant place each time. He has long black hair, and if you
use the D. Mic, there is a beep in his hear beat.

(RICHARD AMES- A secret service agent being held hostage by
Dead
Cell. His ex-wife is Nastasha Romanenko, who was Solid Snake's
millitery adviser at Shadow Moses. She claims that Ames was
under control of that mission and was under order by The
Patriots.)

When you finnaly find him call out to him with the D.Mic a with
the triangle button. After the cut scene, TAP R2. After the
next
cut scene, you'll need to make your way out of there
undetected.
Now head for Strut F.

STRUT F WAREHOUSE

The PSG1 is in the middle room to the Right. Collect this then
head for Strut D

STRUT D SEDIMENT POOL

head up the stairs and out the door to the north.

SHELL 1-2 CONNECTING BRIDGE

Use your PSG-1 to eleminate all of the targets. There
whereabouts are listed here

1. Below, at the foot of the stairs.
2. Below, a few steps towards the middle of the bridge.
3. On the Bridge, right at the first Cylinder.
4. On top of the Cypher at the other end of the bridge.
5. To the left of the Strut D entrance.
6. On the bridge to the left and rear.
7. To the right of the Strut G entrance.
8. Above the entrance to Strut D.
9. Left, behind the flag.
10. Right, among the gulls
11. Go down a few staris and then look down to the bottom
right.
12. Lower bridge section, front left.
13. To the far left of the Strut G entrance.
14. On top of a second Cypher abouve Strut G, left.

Now run forward and there will be a cut scene.

(SOLIDUS SNAKE- is none other than George Sears, the former US
president. He is the third project of the "Les Enfant Terrible"
(The Terrible Children) Project. He is the leader of "Son's of
Libertey" and intends to create a new world order.)

THE FIGHT AGAINST THE HARRIER

Use your rations wiseley. His Solidus and Vamp whenever you
can.
If missles are fired, hang off the middle railings. If lots of
missiles are fired, use your rolling technique.

SHELL 1-2 CONNECTING BRIDGE (DAMEGED)

Hang off the railings next to you and drop down to the pipe.
Crawl along this, and climb up then left and climb up again.
run
accross this next section. Hang off the railing at the end and
drop down. Take out the two gaurds then proceed over the gaps
by
rolling, flattning yourself against a wall, and hanging. Now
climb the ladder at the end.

STRUT L PERIMITER

When you get to the windows, crawl quickley past them, then
shoot the cypher at the end. Flatten yourself against the wall
and get to the other side with ducking too. Go past the peeing
gaurd and take out all the cyphers. hang and drop down and head
to Shell 2 core.

SHELL 2 CORE

After the cut scene, go north, to the elevater, and go to B1.

SHELL 2 CORE B1

Go down to the water and locate the NIKITA launcher, it will be
in differant places all the time. when you get it head back to
the elevater and go to 1F

SHELL 2 CORE

Find an air vent and launch the NIKITA, thn locate the
President
and destroy the Electric Thingy (Credits see MGS Walkthrough!)
Now run to the President

(PRESIDENT JOHNSON- succeded George Sears as President, he was
taken hostage during an inspection of the Big Shell.)

After the cut scene, go back to the water and swim your way to
Filtration Chamber 2.

SHELL 2 CORE FILTRATION CHAMBER 2

THE FIGHT WITH VAMP

Use your AK against Vamp. You can also fire Stinger Missiles at
him, watch out for when he jumps behind you. Keep moving, fire
at him from behind. C4 can prove useful here too!
After you defeat Vamp, go through the next door. Swim to Emma's
Location, she's in to locker to the North.

(EMMA EMMERICH- OTACON's step-sister, she's a genius of A.I,
and
programed the system to corrupt Metal Gear. She want's to beat
Hal at his own game.)

Now return to the KL Connecting bridge. Press triangle to hold
Emma Hans. To get past the bugs at the elevator, use the
coolant
spray on them.

KL CONNECTING BRIDGE

Use the Coolant to put out the fire, and go down.

STRUT L SEWAGE TREATMENT

Take out the gaurds and go down and through the door at the
end.

STRUT L OIL FENCE

You will now be sniping for Emma. Use Pentazamine to stop your
hands shaking. When Snake calls and asks you to call him,
callm=him for help, but youll still need to help him. Use
Thermal Goggles to see Claymore mines. When Vamp attacks Emma,
hit him rapedley on the legs, that way, you have no chance of
hitting Emma. There will now be a cut scene.

STRUT E PARCEL ROOM

Head to the elevater in Shell 1 Core. There will now be a long
cut scene.

ARSENAL GEAR STOMACH

When youre finally freed, go right and through the doors. Log
in
to the node, even in very easy mode., now head right again and
out the door.

ARSENAL GEAR JEJUNUM

After the codec call, head to the north east of that room

ARSENAL GEAR ASCENDING COLON

keep running about, until you get a call from Rose. There will
be a cut scene, after which, you will get about a minute of
practice with your sword.

ARSENAL GEAR ILEUM

Use your AK to take out all enimies, if you need to, put Snake
to sleep to protect him. after the fight, put Snake to sleep
and
drag him youll recive a dog tag

ARSENAL GEAR RECTUM

After the cut scene, youll fight a whole bunch of RAYs! If you
hit ray on the knee, then the head, it will have a devistating
effect. You can use block on your blade to block the bullets
from RAY. Chaff grenades can also proove useful here.

THE FINAL BATTLE ON THE ROOF

After the long cut scene and codec calls, youll have to use
your
blade to defeat Solidus Snake. Keep blocking until Solidus
strikes, then hit him. He has a blind spot where the patch over
his eye is. Use your roll to avoid him when he runs at you.
Keep
doing this, and you'll win.
