METAL GEAR SOLID

Ok, to begin with, after the cut-scene crawl under the first object then run up and flatten yourself against the wall. There will be a guard patrolling here so wait until he has turned around. Run up and toss him over your shoulder by pressing the square button. BE CAREFUL! Keep running when you do this or your start to snap his neck, but won't succeed and the guards will be alerted.
When you get past him, run up as far as you can go, then left, you will see an object you can hide behind. Use this to hide and you?ll also get a ration. Wit until the elevator has come down but be careful, another guard will come out of it. When he?s gone, run into the elevator and begin Metal Gear Solid!

A short cut-scene will follow explaining the story line, plus a Few codec calls. Then the gameplay will commence. Head right towards the snow and run up to the building avoiding the guard and the surveillance camera. Run up the stairs but be careful, there is a guard there so avoid him and go up to the second gap between the walls and you will find an air vent, crawl through and follow it round.

Keep following this vent around and after about 15 seconds you?ll receive a codec call from Master. After that keep following the vent and you will see two guards talking about the DARPA Chief, and that they are going to spray the vent that you?re in for rats. Putting this another way, get out of there on the double!! Don't worry though, this has never happened to me, or anyone else I know who has played this game. Keep following the vent and you should end up at a ladder, go past it and collect the ration. go back and down the ladder by pressing the circle button.

When you get down, you will receive a codec message from Campbell again, After the call, go left and get the Chaff grenades. go past the security camera, (If your not sure how to do this, use your chaff, but you will lose your radar for a while if you do) then keep going round until you get to another camera, get past this and go down the stairs, keeping you eye on your radar for guards.

When you get to the bottom, go up and right, you will now be in front of an elevator, press the button to call for the lift with your circle button, and keep hid until it comes. The elevator can take 0-15 seconds to come. go inside the elevator and press the B1 button. when the elevator gets down, go straight down and right then up the ladder.

You'll find yourself in another vent, keep going straight up the left at the very end, and straight up to the last duct, then press triangle and down on the pad.

You will now see a cut-scene involving the DARPA Chief.

When you get back to the game, crawl under the bed and get the ration if you need it. then crawl back out and wait until the door opens and walk out. There will be a short cu-scene, then it's to the first bit of action!

Guards will run out and start shooting at you and the women. The women won?t shoot the first three guards, this is up to you. run up and collect the SOCOM and equip it, then fire the gun and kill them. You should also equip your rations, Snake will take them when his LIFE reaches zero, and will gain more. keep killing the guards as they come, with the help of the women, and keep collecting the items they drop. At one point the guards will throw grenades in. Run up as far away from them as you can. Don't worry about the women, she can't die!

When all the guards are dead, there will be another cut-scene, after this run up to the elevator and call for it, run in and go to B2. There shouldn't be any guards here. equip your security card and check everywhere for C4. use it at the bottom left of that area where the wall is a different colour. make sure your far enough away from the C4 so that it can't hurt you. go in and look to the right side of the wall, the first different coloured part of the wall you see is where you should put the next C4, go in and blow up the next part of the wall (it should be at the top of your screen, don't let the other one confuse you. now, equip your SOCOM and rations, and enter the room.

After the cut-scene, keep hiding from Ocelot, and try to shoot him, avoiding hitting Baker. Take advantage of the re-loading time of his handgun. Watch out, Ocelot can control the ricoshades from the walls so they hit you, as soon as you hear him firing, run!

After you defeat Ocelot, there will be a long cut-scene, after this go back the way you came until your radar becomes activated again. Call 140.15 or 141.15, I can't remember what one it is.

After the codec call, go back to the elevator and go up to the 1st floor. Meryl will call you and the door will open. go beside the door, there should be another one there, go through that and you will see a guard and an item. This is the suppressor for the SOCOM snap the guard?s neck and get it. NOTE: Sometimes the guard will be sleeping, sometimes he will be walking about, but he will never look behind him. equip your SOCOM, and the suppresser will be equipped.

Go to the door that Meryl has opened and answer the codec call. Use your cigarettes to see the laser beams. MAKE SURE you don't touch them. If you do, there's no way out, your dead. get to the end and use your level 2 card to open the door.

Go up and you will receive a codec call from "Deepthroat". After that, crawl up to avoid the mines. Then equip your rations and if you have them, your grenades.

After the cut-scene, use your chaff to get close to the tank and collect the grenades down there. throw the grenades at the guy on the top of the tank, he will die after two shots- one if you get a direct hit, then another guy will come, do the same for him, and he will eventually die, and the tank will explode. When your fighting the tank keep far away from it, but not too far or it will use it's missiles. If you need more tips during any of the fights, call Campbell, he will usually have ideas.

After the cut-scene keep running forward and crawl under the door. You'll get a call from Campbell and Naomi explaining that you can't use weapons in that area. go left and flatten yourself against the wall and wait for the guard to pass, go as far left as you can, then down to collect the item, then up the stairs, watching out for the guard at the top. call for the elevator and go to B1.

When you get to B1, go down and into the room, go to the first door to the right of your screen using your card, and get the NIKITA and the missiles, then head back to the elevator avoiding the guard.

Now go to B2 and walk out and then down, you will be in a gas filled room, and receive another call from "Deepthroat". use the NIKITA to destroy the electric thingy (well, I can't remember all the names!).

head back out and get some air, then go back in and search the whole place, you should get a FAMAS and goggles (and a few other stuff). go down and right then through the doors and watch the cut-scene.

You will end up in a room full of dead guards, run up and left, and- after the cut scene- equip your rations and head in the door.

After this cut scene, you will be fighting the ninja, weapons are of no use here, use your hands (circle to punch and kick) Don't worry, the ninja won't use his sword. When he says "hurry up and catch me!" use your goggles to see where he is hiding. when he says "Like old times?" Watch out! when you go to punch him he will disappear and go behind you to punch you! when he starts to go crazy when all his LIFE is gone, use your SOCOM to finish him off.

After the long cut scene, exit OTACON's lab and go back to the lift and up to B1. go into the room at the bottom of the screen, and there should be a guard to the left of your screen. Now, trust me! Let that guard see you! The guard will be alerted and then run away, follow her into the women?s bathroom and search the place.

After the cut scene, go left and up to the commanders room Meryl will act funny, then go into the room in front of you and the door will close behind you. Position yourself so that Meryl is at the door, and Snake is in front of her. there will be a cut scene and Meryl will attempt to shoot you. DON'T USE A WEAPON, knock her out and there will be an enjoyable cut scene, especially if your memory card has a saved game of any other Konami game, and you have an analogue control pad (heh heh heh)!

now you will be fighting Psycho Mantis, pause the game and take out your controller. Plug it in to controller port 2, an Mantis will be unable to read your mind! When he uses Stealth, use your goggles to see him, or go into first person view mode (triangle) and you will see what he sees, therefore, you will know where he is! Dodge all the items he throws at you and keep shooting him. he will use Meryl again, so you will have to knock her out again. then eventually, you will kill Mantis.

During the cut scene, plug your controller back into port 1.

after the cut scene, go north and collect the items at the bottom of the stairs, then go out the door.

After the next cut scene go north and crawl under the rock, keep following this around and get out at the other end. Oh, and be careful, there are wolf dogs in there! After the smart comment from Meryl go through the double-doors. There are mines here, but Meryl will know how to get past them, follow her footsteps carefully, and you should be alright.

After the cut scene, call OTACON, he will know where you can get a PSG1, or just go back to the place where you first used the C4. The PSG1 should be in the room that the guard is walking back and forth in front of. in there, there are lasers, use your goggles or cigarettes to see them. Get past and collect the PSG1. Campbell will call you, after that get past the lasers and go back to where Meryl has been shot. NOTE: In the snowfield where you fought Raven's tank, there are LOADS of claymore mines, you can see them with your goggles.

Now you will be fighting Sniper Wolf. Flatten yourself against the wall and look to see where Wolf is. When she hides behind the pillar, aim your PSG1 and shoot at her. Remember to equip your rations.

When you beat her SAVE YOUR GAME, go north, then to the door to your right.

You wont actually make it to the door, Wolf and two guards will hold you up and take you back to the Tank Hanger. After the cut scene you will be "Interrogated" by Ocelot. what happens here will determine the ending you get, and what special Item you get at the end. If you resist the torture, you get a good ending and the bandana, which gives you unlimited ammo when equipped. If you give up, you will get a bad ending, and OTACON's Stealth. to resist the torture tap the circle button as fast as you can. To give up push the select button. Keep hitting circle for a while after the electricity stops and your life will go up for a while.

After the interrogation, you will find yourself chucked in a cell with the dead body of the DARPA Chief. Just wait for a while and Campbell will call you. Wait again and the guard (whose name is Johnny by the way) will tell you it's torture time again. You can be tortured once twice or even three times. when your in the cell again, after a while, OTACON will come. he will give you a security card, ration, ketchup, and Sniper Wolf handkerchief. quickly lie on the ground and select the ketchup when the menu is open and press Circle. Lie still until Johnny opens the door. now get up and run out, run just past the torture machine and Johnny's Diarrhea will hit! take your items back and go out of there.

Go back to where Meryl was shot and this time, go in the door. Equip your rations and FAMAS and proceed. a camera will see you, shoot the two guards that come up and collect the two items beside you, there should be a rope, and something else. go south through the door, and up the stairs, keep running up the stairs to the very top, while shooting the guards. NOTE: You can press square and cross at the same time to shoot while running.

When you get to the top, go up the ladder and out the door, There will be a cut scene, after this, equip your rope and run up, you will now need to repel. Campbell will tell you how.

when you get to the bottom, use your PSG1 to take out the three guards ahead. run up and Liquid will chase you in the helicopter. run into the building and collect the Stinger and the Stinger Missiles. Now go into the door at the bottom of your screen.

go right then straight down the stairs (This may take a while), then you have to go all the way up again, and then there will be a cut scene.

After the cut scene, equip your rations and make your way up the stairs. Gun cameras will shoot you, there is no way that I have found, of stopping this.

When you get to the top, you will fight Liquid's helicopter. Use the Stinger to shoot him down and hide behind the walls when he is shooting at you. When he fires missiles at you, flatten yourself against the big block in the middle of the roof.

When you defeat him, go back down to the elevator, and go in and press 9.

Now this bit's scary! listen to OTACON's message, then fight the stealth men. You can see them with your goggles. when you get to the bottom, collect all the items there and head out the door.

You will now get a Codec call from OTACON and Sniper Wolf. Now you will fight Wolf for the final time. Wait till she shows herself from behind the trees and shoot.

After you kill her, there will be a cut scene that will make the school bully cry like a baby, then head to the first door to your left and down the stairs

Please Insert Disc 2.

Head down the stairs and kill the first guard you see with your SOCOM. head left and stay flat against the wall to get to the other side. Be careful, if you let go of left on the D-Pad or Analogue, you will fall. When the crane comes your way duck by pressing cross. keep flat against the wall when you duck, you cant move like this. When the crane passes, stand up and continue.

When you get to the other side, go down the stairs and through the door at the top right avoiding the guards and head to the cargo elevator.

Go on the cargo elevator and press it to go down.

After the cut scene, you will be fighting three guards, use your FAMAS to kill them. NOTE: You can also kick them off the elevator, but this is hard to do. If you are going to do it, wait till there is only one guard left.

When you get to the bottom, there will be another cargo elevator, go on this avoiding the camera-gun.

When you finally get to the bottom, go through the giant double doors an there will be another cut scene.

After this you will be fighting Raven. The best thing to do is to keep hitting him from the side or behind him with NIKITA of Stinger Missiles, then hide.

You will eventually beat him. After you do, you will get a Codec call from Master. After that, go through the door to the north. This room will have hundreds of camera guns, but if you keep to their blind spot, you can avoid them all. go right and down to collect the items and then up and left and through the door. Now, brace yourself.

Walk forward, and you'll see it in all it's pride....METAL GEAR!!!

run forward and keep going up all the ladders and collecting all the items. you will get three codec calls from OTACON. there is one guard just before you get to the stairs. When you get there, there will be a long cut scene.

After that, kill the guards and head down the ladders and go down the stairs at the bottom. go into the water and look for the card.

now one of two things will happen.

1. NO CODEC CALL FROM MASTER- keep looking for the card.

2. CODEC CALL FROM MASTER- a rat has eaten the card, find the rat with the mine detector and set a trap with claymore mines or C4.

After you get the key, head up the ladder and into the room where Liquid and Ocelot were talking. Insert the key into the first laptop avoiding the cameras.

After that, you'll need to freeze the key. Head to the place where you fought Raven, stay there for about a minute and check to see if that card has turned blue.

When it has, head up to the room and insert it into the middle laptop.

Now you need to heat up the key. Head to the place where you dodged the crane, when you get to the double doors, go straight down and stay in the boiler room until the card changes to red.

Now hurry to the control room and insert the key in the third laptop.

After a codec call from "Master" who will reveal his evil deeds to you, call OTACON. he will open the door for you so you can get the hell out of the gas-filled room. When you get out you should see liquid running away, chase him, and then there will be a long cut scene, which will reveal allot of things...

Now you will be fighting Metal Gear! Don't panic, just follow my instructions. Use the Stinger Missiles to aim at the round plate that looks like a shield on REX's Left arm. keep running under Metal gear, looking at your radar to make sure it doesn?t stand on you. If it dose, Rations are of no use, your dead. If Metal Gear fires the Rail Gun at you, stand still, it will miss. If it uses the laser, keep running towards it. If it uses the Missiles, run towards it. NOTE: You can use your chaff, and Metal Gear won't be able to see you, but it still attacks and shoots everywhere.

You'll beat REX eventually, and an exiting cut scene will start which reveals more.

Unfortunately, REX is still active, just do the same as you did, but this time, aim for the mouth of Metal Gear.

When you eventually beat REX, a long cut scene will reveal all!

After the cut scene you will have a 2:30 time limit to beat Liquid with no weapons. Keep punching and kicking then run away when he is flashing in true video game fashion. then attack. When he is about to run at you, run away. If you fall off REX, press any button repeatedly to climb back up. When Liquids LIFE reaches Zero, knock him off Metal Gear, and a cut scene will begin either the bad or the good ending...

But it's not over yet, follow Meryl/OTACON, collecting and equipping the ration as you go past. A camera hill see her/him. run back the way you came and punch and kick the guards until Meryl/OTACON says "Snake, Jump in!"

Shoot the guards, and the gas canisters with the machine gun and your off! You'll stop at two checkpoints, shoot the guards and proceed. Now Liquid will come back one last time. Keep firing at him until you crash and Finally you?ve completed Metal Gear Solid! Now play the second one!

This may be an old game but it is still the best PS One game around. Hope this helps you complete it!

Area 1 DOCKS
From the starting point of the game head down the steps into the
water and there should be some rations. Just walk over them to
pick them up and then head back up the stairs.
*Remember not to spend too much time underwater as your oxygen
supply runs out and your life starts to run down.*
When up the stairs press the cross button to kneel down by the
pipe (on the left hand side of the big container) then press up
to crawl under the pipe. Press cross again to get back up and
use the radar on the top right of the screen to check for guards
(shown by white triangles). If the coast is clear run across to
the right and at the end wall you will find another big
container.
*Avoid the puddles of water on the floor because if a guard
hears you in one he will come after you and at this point you
don�t have a weapon*
Behind this container you will find more rations to pick up. By
the time you have got to the rations the guard should also be
there. Wait until he is gone and then make your way up the
right hand wall until you get to the forklift truck. There are
more rations here but unless you�ve used either of the other two
you should have already picked up you will not have enough space
to carry them. There may be a guard around here so try not to
draw attention to yourself. You will receive a call from
Campbell on your CODEC where he tells you about the elevator at
the top of the screen. Wait until the alarm sounds (this means
the elevator is coming down) and watch the guard step out. When
he has gone run into the elevator that will automatically go up.
Here you will see a few cut scenes with the opening credits
before you move up to the Heliport.

Area 2 HELIPORT
As soon as you are at the heliport you get a call on you CODEC
from Campbell and then Mei Ling shows you how to use the radar.
When this has finished you can carry on with the game. Go to
the left hand side of the elevator where you will find more
rations. Again if you have not used any of the rations that
were previously picked up you will not be able to carry these.
Walk north to the bottom of the helipad and follow the wall
around to another gap where you can get onto the helipad. You
will see 2 searchlights moving up and down. To the west from
where you are standing there are some chaff grenades. If you
want them you will have to be quick to avoid the searchlights.
Move west from the helipad to the wall on the left hand side.
There is a room along here with a camera. Hug up against the
wall and look south where you will find some stun grenades.
Pick these up and run back to the bottom of the helipad. From
here move further east to the snow and the big crates. There
are more rations available here but there is also another guard
so you will have to be careful. Avoid the security camera and
move west again where you will find a truck. Step inside the
truck and walk to the back where you will find your first gun,
the SOCOM pistol. Equip yourself with this and run back across
to where the camera was and run up the steps. Walk across to
the left and kill the guard with your SOCOM pistol. Look
towards the ground where you will see a small ventilation shaft.
Crawl into this and follow it around until you get towards a
hole in the floor. Press the action button to drop down a
ladder and into the Tank Hangar.

Area 3 TANK HANGAR
There are some chaff grenades by you so pick them up and throw
one at the nearby camera to disable it. Follow the path around
and enter a room on the right. Disable the camera and pick up
the thermal goggles and exit the room again. Follow the catwalk
around to the left and enter another room. This room contains
Cardboard Box A and the Chaff Grenades. Collect both of these
and leave the room again. Disable the camera to the north and
run downstairs. Once downstairs head south and you will find
some weapons. Collect these and then head north again to the
elevator. Use the action button to call the elevator and wait
for it to come down. Enter the elevator and head for floor B1.

Area 4 CELLS
Step out of the elevator and head south. When you are as far
south as you can go to the right and receive a call from
Campbell on the CODEC. Climb up the ladder and crawl along the
ventilation shaft. Go past the cell where Meryl is being held
and crawl to the end of the shaft where you will find the DARPA
Chief�s cell. Use the action button to drop down and watch the
very long conversation between Snake and the DARPA Chief.
Before the DARPA chief dies he will give you a Level 1 security
card.

Area 5 HOLDING CELL B1
Exit the DARPA Chief�s cell and equip yourself with the SOCOM
pistol and your rations and there are three guards waiting to
attack you. Kill these guards and then more will appear and you
have to kill them as well. There should then be a few more
guards and when they are killed some grenades will be thrown
into the room. If you move to the upper left corner at this
point you shouldn�t take any damage. After this you will see
a few more guards to kill. When these are killed you will see
Psycho Mantis. After Campbell has told you that you were not
hallucinating go back into the DARPA Chief�s cell to pick up
some rations that can be found underneath his bed. When you
have these make your way back towards the elevator and select
floor B2.

Area 6 B2 ARMOURY
Step out of the elevator and you will find yourself in a large
room with six storage rooms with various different ammos. There
are no guards in this room but there are trapdoors so don�t
stand in the same place for too long! Walk to the store in the
centre of the top row and use your security card to enter. Pick
up the C4 explosives that you will find and then leave the room.
Make your way down to the centre store in the bottom row and
will find some SOCOM ammo. The room on the bottom left has some
grenades. You will not be able to enter the remaining rooms yet
as you don�t have the correct level security cards. Go to the
bottom wall outside the last room you entered and you will have
to find an unfinished wall. This can be done by backing into
the wall and pressing circle until the sound changes. At this
point plant some C4 explosives and run away before detonating
it. After detonating it go back to the hole in the wall and
walk through it. You will then have to find another section of
unfinished wall on the right wall nearer the end. Blow this
away with C4 and then walk into the next section. Walk across
to the right and there is another section of unfinished wall.
Create a hole here but don�t walk through until you have
equipped yourself with rations and your SOCOM.
When you have done this enter the next room where you will see
President Baker tied up. Watch the video sequence and then you
move into your first boss battle.

BOSS BATTLE 1- REVOLVER OCELOT
You will find yourself starting at the bottom right corner and
Revolver Ocelot will start at the top left. A huge pillar in
the centre of the room will separate you from Ocelot. Hide
behind this pillar as Ocelot takes his first shot. Run round
after Ocelot and as you get towards the corner turn yourself so
that you are looking diagonally to the next path and fire to hit
Ocelot. Continue to follow and shoot like this until his energy
is gone.
You could also wait until he is reloading so he can�t shoot at
you and walk up towards him to take your shot.
When he is defeated watch another video sequence, this time
between Snake, Ocelot and Ninja. After viewing this sequence
you will receive the Level 2 security card from President Baker
who will tell you about Metal Gear Rex and Fox-Hound�s plans.

When the president dies run back to the armoury. This time
there are guards in the room. The security card that President
Baker gave you will allow you to enter one more store here. The
new store is in the bottom right. In this room there is an
FA-MAS Rifle and some bullets. There are some lasers in this
room that can�t be seen without the Thermal Goggles. The
Goggles show you where the lasers are and you can then crawl
under them. If you touch the lasers the guards will run into
the room and start shooting at you. When you have the FA-MAS
and the ammo head back towards the lift. Don�t enter yet as
there are secret rooms on each side of the lift. These must be
blown away with C4 like before but if the guards here they will
come after you. The room on the left has some stun grenades and
some chaff grenades and the room to the right has some SOCOM
ammo but there are two trapdoors to avoid. When you have all of
these items enter the lift and go back to the tank hangar on
floor 1.

Area 7 TANK HANGAR
Exit the lift and go to the right wall and enter the room with
the sleeping guard. Shoot him or choke him and collect the
SOCOM Suppressor. This prevents enemies from hearing your
shots. Head back to the stairs and go up them. Avoid the MAMC
and enter the first room. In here there is a cardboard box and
some chaff grenades. Run around the catwalk and look towards
the end of it. There is a guard that has to be shot with the
SOCOM and enter the room by where he was. In this room you will
find the mine detector. Collect the mine detector then contact
Campbell. After speaking to Campbell contact Meryl on 140.15.
She will unlock the hangar door for you. Head back down the
stairs and when the door is opened head back up and put on the
thermal goggles. These reveal a set of lasers that are moving
up and down at different speeds. Run past them one by one and
equip yourself with your security card at the end to exit the
hangar. If you touch a laser the door will close behind you and
you will be killed by poison gas.

Area 8 CANYON
As you walk forward into the canyon you will get a call from
Deepthroat. After talking to Deepthroat use the mine detector
to show where the mines are and crawl over them to collect them.
Run over to the left wall where you will find some rations and
another mine. Run north and an M1 Abrams Tank will enter.
Watch the video sequence and then enter your second boss
battle.

BOSS BATTLE 2- VULCAN RAVEN
Run over to the left wall at the start and crawl north, still
hugging the left wall. After the first shot run to the pillar
to the north. When the gunner stops firing run across to the
tank and start throwing grenades at it. You have to get the
gunner at the top. If a grenade lands on the turret then damage
will be done. After a direct hit the gunner will fall off the
tank and a second gunner will appear. Kill him in the same way
and you will win.
Watch the video sequence with Vulcan Raven who contacts his boss
to tell him to give you the level 3 security card.

Area 9 NUKE BUILDING
Inside the nuke building there is a small catwalk to the left.
At the end are some rations to pick up if you need them. Head
back to your starting position and head north to the half open
gate. There are some grenades at the bottom left corner, some
chaff grenades at the left wall and some FA-MAS ammo under the
stairs on the right wall. There is also a cargo truck, which
has some SOCOM ammo to the left of it. Wait outside the gate
and when the guard passes by crawl under the gate and run to the
bottom left corner. Speak to Campbell who tells you the
frequency for Natasha who is a nuclear specialist. Run up the
stairs on the left side and be careful because there is a guard
on the catwalk. Follow the catwalk around to the lift and call
it then head to floor B1.
*If you are spotted in this room it will be filled with poison
gas and you will die*

Area 10 NUKE BUILDING B1
Exit the lift and enter the room that is opposite to you. On
the right are some stun grenades. The first room on the right
wall contains the NIKITA launcher and some missiles. Underneath
the table in the centre of the room you will fine some FA-MAS
ammo and on the left of the table is some SOCOM ammo. After
collecting the items exit the room turn left if you fancy
killing another guard turn left and enter the bathroom where you
will find a guard. If you don�t fancy killing another guard
just exit the room and head back into the lift and select floor
B2.

Area 11 NUKE BUILDING B2
Exit the elevator and go to the right and look into the room
behind the glass. You will see the electrical board and some
more items. Enter the door on the south wall and go through the
second door where Deepthroat will contact you again. He will
tell you about the electric current in the walkway ahead. Use
the NIKITA launcher to fire a missile down south. When it
reaches the T-junction make it turn left then right at the end
so it is heading north. Keep it moving quickly to avoid the
MAMC. At the top turn right and guide it into the electrical
board to shut the current off. The area is filled with
poisonous gas and you still don�t have the gas mark but this is
the next item you will find. After switching off the current
and the second room on the right where you will find the gas
mask. Exit the room again and run down to the T-junction, turn
right and enter the door at the end.

Area 12 LABORATORY
Walk over to the door on the right and enter the next room then
go through the door to the left. In the hallway you will find
six dead guards and then watch a video sequence. When the
sequence has ended follow the hallway to the left. At the end
of the hall is a door. Go through the door and watch the
sequence between Dr. Emmerich and the Ninja. After the sequence
the Ninja will challenge you to a fight.

BOSS BATTLE 3- NINJA
To beat Ninja you must be careful of his kicks. He jumps across
the room kicking and when he stops run at him and tap circle a
few times to perform the punch, punch, kick combo. After the
attack run after Ninja and perform it again before he starts his
own. When you have caused him to lose around half of his energy
he uses stealth. Use the thermal goggles to find him and after
you have hit him a few more times he stops kicking and starts
using powerful punches. Don�t try to use the combo now as he
will teleport to the other side of you and punch you. After he
tries to hit you he will recover. As he is recovering, run in
and perform the combo again. He will then almost be defeated.
After a few more hits he will be surrounded by an electrical
energy ball. Wait for the ball to shrink and then shoot him
with the FA-MAS rifle.

After defeating Ninja watch the sequence between Dr. Emmerich
and Snake. You will then be able to collect the Night Vision
Goggles and some other items around the room. After collecting
them return to the lift and select floor B1 where you will have
to find Meryl. Exit the elevator at floor B1 and run into the
opposite room where you found the Nikita launcher earlier.
Meryl is disguised in a guard�s uniform so alert the guards and
watch Meryl run out to the toilet. Follow her and then watch
the video sequence between her and Snake. After the video exit
the toilet into the hallway next to the lift and enter the
door.

Area 13 COMMANDER ROOM
Walk into the commander room and walk to the middle where Psycho
Mantis is with Meryl. Even though she is pointing the gun at
you do not hurt her or kill her. Use a stun grenade to get her
down onto the ground.

BOSS BATTLE 4- PSYCHO MANTIS
Psycho Mantis now shows you that he can take control of your
controller and he can read what you are doing. He makes you
blind twice during the battle to show that he can control you.
You will be contacted by Campbell, who tells you to insert your
controller in slot 2. With the controller in slot 2 Psycho
Mantis can�t control you.
His first attack is a ball of energy, which you have to run to
avoid. He will then make some items like chairs float in the
air before he throws them at you. Duck under these and crawl
towards him. After each attack, fire at him before his next
one. When half of his energy has gone he revives Meryl and
again tries to get her to kill you. Use another stun grenade to
put her onto the floor. Mantis now uses nothing but energy
balls. When he appears shoot at him quickly before he vanishes.
He then tries getting Meryl to kill herself. Use another stun
grenade to keep her down again and then Mantis uses his last
attack where he throws everything at you again. When he becomes
invisible use the thermal goggles to find him and then shot
him.

After defeating Mantis watch the sequence and go through the
door that he reveals. You will now be told to place the
controller back in slot 1. Go down the ramp and collect some
rations and some FA-MAS ammo. Exit at the end and move on to
the next area.

Area 14 CAVE
From the starting position of this level run to the right to a
cave to collect some rations and some SOCOM ammo. After
collecting these go back left to the path that is covered in
snow. At the end of the path is a small cave. Crawl to the
other side of this cave where a pack of wolves are waiting.
Kill the wolves for now but you will have to return here later.
Make your way north to the wall then turn left and run down. At
the bottom wall you will find two small caves. The cave on the
left contains some PSG-1 ammo (you don�t have this gun yet),
some FA-MAS ammo, some Diazepam and some rations. The cave on
the right leads you to Meryl and the exit.

Area 15 UNDERGROUND PASSAGE
This area begins with Meryl guiding you across a hidden mine
field. Follow her footprints to avoid the mines that are
around. When you get to the other end a small red dot will
appear on Meryl. It�s the laser sight from a sniper rifle which
then shoots Meryl several times and she goes down. Watch the
video that follows and then contact Campbell. After talking to
Campbell go back through the cave, the commanders room, the
laboratory, the nuke building, the canyon and the tank hangar to
reach B2 Armoury. Go to the store at the bottom right-hand
corner where you will find the PSG-1 Sniper Rifle. Quickly head
back to the underground passage. When you are there you have to
face north for the next boss battle.

BOSS BATTLE 5- SNIPER WOLF
Equip the PSG-1 Sniper Rifle and take a Diazepam. Sniper Wolf
can be found on the second floor where she is getting ready for
her next shot. Don�t let her out of your site as you keep
shooting her with the rifle.

After beating her run north to the tower and look towards the
door on the right. Walk towards the door and attempt to open
it. You will now be taken prisoner. Don�t worry this is part
of the game.

Area 16 MEDICAL ROOM
After being taken as a prisoner at the end of the last area you
are taken to the torture room. Ocelot will try to force you to
give up. If you do give up then Meryl will die. When the
torturing begins keep pressing the circle button rapidly and
keep tapping even when the timer runs out. Doing this regains
the energy that you are losing while being tortured. Ocelot
will torture you three more times and you just have to keep
pressing circle. If you fail then you die. After the third
round you will be taken to a holding cell. There is more than
one way to exit this cell.
Method 1- Wait for the guard to run to the bathroom. When he is
gone hide under the bed. When the returns and can�t see you he
opens the door to explore the cell. Crawl out from under the
bed and throw the guard onto the floor as you don�t have any
weapons and then exit the cell.
Method 2- Use the ketchup that Octagon gives you while you are
in the cell. When he hands you the ketchup he also gives you
Sniper Wolf�s handkerchief. When the guard goes off to the
bathroom use the ketchup and lie on the floor over the ketchup.
Stay still and when the guard returns he thinks that you are
dead and he enters the cell to investigate. Stand up and then
throw the guard to the floor before leaving the cell.
When you get out of the cell run into the torture room and run
behind the table where you will find your clothes and your
weapons. Exit through the door on the right and avoid the
MAMC�s that are guarding the door.

Area 17 COMMUNICATION TOWER A
When you exit the torture room you will recognise where you are.
You will now have a level 6 security card. Head back towards
the underground passage and on your way enter all of the rooms
that you did not enter before and collect all of the ammo that
you find. This time when you are in the cave you can use Sniper
Wolfs handkerchief, which you were handed when you were in the
cell to prevent the wolves attacking you. When at the
underground passage enter the door on the right hand side (where
you were taken prisoner last time) and follow the hall to the
end. Leave a trail of Claymores behind you as you enter the
door where guards will now ambush you. Kill the guards and
collect all the items that are lying around then exit through
the bottom door. Equip yourself with the FA-MAS and start
running up the tower. Guards will follow you up the stairs but
if you kill them it just wastes time. Guards will come down the
stairs in front of you so shoot them a few times and continue
with your ascent. As you climb up the stairs you will find a
door but this is locked so there is no point trying to open it.
Continue climbing and when you are at the top of the stairs
follow the catwalk around to the ladder and climb up it. Exit
through the door at the bottom right and go north to the flight
of steps and watch Liquid Snake destroy the communications
tower. After the sequence use the rope to go down the side of
the building. Avoid the gunfire from the helicopter and when
you get to the bottom pick up the rations that are on the left
and walk across to the frozen door. Face north and use the
PSG-1 to shoot three guards who are holding machine guns. Kill
them all and then continue. Turn left at the end to where
Liquid is waiting in the Hind-D. Stay close to the left as you
go around the corner to avoid being hit. Use the security card
to exit through the door at the end.

Area 18 COMM TOWER B
Pick up the Stinger Launcher and some missiles and head through
the door. The path leads to a lift that isn�t working right now
so the only way is to run down the stairs. You will find that
the catwalk has been destroyed between the second and first
floors. Run back up the stairs and talk to Octagon then
continue up the stairs. Avoid the MAMC�s on the 11th, 15th,
10th and 23rd floors. Use chaff grenades to disable the MAMC�s
and when you are at the top of the stairs collect some more
Stinger Missiles and then climb up the ladder that leads to the
roof. Now it�s time for another boss battle.

BOSS BATTLE 6- LIQUID IN THE HIND-D
Get some rations ready and be ready to bring out the Stinger.
Liquid is shown as a red dot on the radar so keep your eyes on
that. Use the stinger when it is locked on to the Hind and fire
to hit Liquid. After firing put the stinger away and run behind
the big unit in the middle. When half of Liquid�s energy is
gone he will fire a group of missiles. As he is doing this stay
behind the unit in the centre and wait until you can fire at him
again. He will fly around lower than the roof so you have to
wait for him to come back up. Keep firing at him until the Hind
goes down. Otacon will now contact you to let you know that the
lift is working.

Area 19 TOWER
Equip yourself with the FA-MAS and head back down to the 9th
floor. Call the lift by using the button at the side and press
to go down to level one. Otacon will call you and tell you
about four optic camouflage suits that have gone missing. You
are not alone in the lift and that is why the wait alarm went
off. Put the thermal goggles on and find the guards in the
suits. Each one must be shot five dies before they die. When
the lift gets to floor one exit and turn left to find some PSG-1
ammo. Get the security card ready and enter the door at the
bottom right. Move right and avoid the MAMC. Another MAMC is
around the corner and there are two more at the end of the hall.
Use a chaff grenade and use the security card to exit through
the door at the end.

Area 20 SNOWFIELD
As you enter the snowfield collect the rations and the PSG-1
ammo from the right and then walk towards the centre of the map.
You will be shot down and after a conversation with Otacon you
find out that it was Sniper Wolf aiming at you. Use the PSG-1
and face north where Sniper Wolf is hiding behind the trees.

BOSS BATTLE 7- SNIPER WOLF (again)
Take a Diazepam and try to keep your aim focused on Sniper Wolf.
She will keep running across the screen so you must kill her
like you did before.

Area 20 SNOWFIELD cont..
After defeating Sniper Wolf walk forward and watch the sequence
between Snake, Sniper Wolf and Otacon. After she dies collect
more ammo from the rooms all around the snowfield. The store in
the north is filled with mines so crawl into it carefully. The
room at the bottom east contains some grenades and Chaff
grenades. The top room has some FA-MAS, SOCOM and PSG-1 ammo.
At the west wall there are two more stores and a cargo truck.
The truck is empty so enter the door at the bottom. Throw a
chaff grenade because there are some MAMC�s then run inside and
pick up some rations and a cardboard box. Exit the room and
throw a chaff grenade into the top room. Enter and collect some
more Nikita missiles. The room in the middle requires a level 7
security card so run across to the left where there is a room
protected by MAMC�s. Throw a chaff grenade in and collect the
SOCOM ammo in the top left corner. Run to the exit in the top
right corner and enter.

Disc 2!

Area 21 BLAST FURNACE
Enter the door at the bottom of the staircase, equip the PSG-1
and aim at the guard on the upper left. When he has been killed
collect the stun grenades at the end of the top catwalk. Run
back to the bottom path and go across the left. Hug the wall
and slide along the ledge. When the arm moves towards you duck
under it and continue moving across to the end. When you are
across the ledge make your way down the steps. Collect the
rations, SOCOM ammo and the FA-MAS ammo that can be found under
the first staircase. Go down the steps and the blast furnace
will be on your right. In the furnace you will have to
carefully avoid the steam jets and pick up the PSG-1 ammo and
some more Nikita missiles. Remember where this room is and exit
the blast furnace. Exit the area through the door at the bottom
of the staircase.

Area 22 CARGO ELEVATOR
In the first room there is lots of FA-MAS ammo and SOCOM ammo on
the east and west walls. Step onto the large cargo elevator and
press down at the control panel on the right. As the elevator
begins it�s descent some guards will jump onto it. Use a stun
grenade and as they are getting back up shoot them with the
FA-MAS or throw them over the edge. At the bottom use a chaff
grenade to disable the MAMC on the right wall. Enter the room
on the right where the second cargo elevator is found. There
are five mines along the bottom wall and the right wall. Crawl
over them to collect them and then take the elevator down. When
you are at the bottom step off the elevator and collect some
more Nikita missiles, more rations and some C4s along the
sidewalls. Run up to the door and enter to find yourself in the
warehouse.

Area 23 WAREHOUSE
As you enter the warehouse Vulcan Raven will challenge you to a
battle. Watch the sequence that follows and then prepare to
fight him.

BOSS BATTLE 8- VULCAN RAVEN
To defeat Raven watch him coming around the corners and as he
comes fire a stinger missile at him and then run off. You can
also try laying mines around the area for him to set off or you
may want to use the Nikita missiles. If a missile is fired and
he spots it he will shoot it and it will not harm him.
When you defeat Raven you will be given the level 7 security
card.

Area 23 WAREHOUSE cont..
Exit the area through the door at the north. Take note of the
location of this room as well as you need to come back here
soon.

Area 24 UNDERGROUND BASE
Equip yourself with chaff grenades as they come in handy around
here. In the first hall there are two trapdoors that you have
to avoid as you head to the staircase. At the top of the
staircase take the right path to collect some stinger ammo. Run
back to the top of the stairs and follow the left path, which
leads to the exit. There is a long hallway at the end that
leads to the next room. At the end is Metal Gear Rex. For some
reason there are no guards around here so there is no need to
worry at the moment. Run to the ladder and climb up then turn
left at the top and turn right at the fork. Go up another
ladder then another one and you will be on top of Metal Gear
Rex. Go down the ladder on the other side of Rex to get down to
another walkway. Follow this round to the control room. This
side is guarded and it is best to take the guards out with the
PSG-1 from a distance so they don�t see you. Watch the video
sequence between Liquid Snake and Ocelot in the control room.
When the conversation is finished the PAL key will be shot out
of your hand and it will fall down into the sewer at Metal Gear
Rex�s feet. More guards will be on the way as you head back to
Rex�s feet. Use the mine detector to find the PAL key in the
sewer but don�t take too long as your energy goes down while in
the sewer. When you have the key again make your way back up
Rex and go round to the control room again. Otacon will tell
you what to do. Throw a chaff grenade into the Control Room and
insert the PAL key in the first computer. Head back to the cold
warehouse where you fought with Vulcan Raven and wait in there
until the PAL key turns blue. Put the PAL key away again so it
doesn�t heat up and run back up to the control room. Place it
in the middle computer and then run back to the blast furnace.
Run into the steam room where you were before and wait until the
PAL key turns red. Run back to the control room quickly as the
key cools down quickly and place the key in the third computer.
The control room doors will now lock and the room will be filled
with poisonous gas. Call Otacon and he will unlock the door
again so you can exit the control room. Go down the stairs and
follow Liquid to the right.

BOSS BATTLE 9- METAL GEAR REX AND LIQUID
To disable Metal Gear Rex throw some chaff grenades to stop his
radar from working. Stand in front of Rex and fire a stinger
missile at his left shoulder. Throw a chaff grenade and fire
with the stinger. Keep using this method until half of Rex�s
energy has gone. The mech then swings and even though it�s
energy has hit zero the battle is not over. As the radar dome
explodes, Ninja appears and reveals his identity. After
severely damaging Rex, Metal Gear Rex catches ninja and you can
only watch as Ninja is crushed beneath Rex�s foot. Liquid now
sits on the beak of Rex and he attacks. Run between Rex�s legs
to avoid the Laser and the missiles. When you are behind Rex
fire a stinger missile and run through his legs again. Try to
stay behind Rex so Liquid will not know where you are. Avoid
Rex�s feet as they can easily crush you. Repeat this until
Metal Gear Rex is defeated.

Area 26 UNDERGROUND BASE
After Rex has been defeated watch a video sequence between Solid
Snake and Liquid. Liquid tells you about his inferiority
complex and calls you out for battle. The site for the final
battle is high up on the broken down machine. You have three
minutes to save Meryl (or Otacon, depending on how you did at
the Torture Chamber). Chase Liquid and get him with the punch,
punch, kick combo that you used against Ninja earlier. As
Liquid runs perform the punch, punch, kick combo again. When
you have defeated Liquid it is time to escape.

Area 27 ESCAPE ROUTE
Follow Meryl or Otacon (again depending on how you get on in the
Torture Chamber) to the garage. There is only one jeep that has
keys and that is the one on the far left. Keep any guards away
from you and make your escape. Aim for the barrels at the
corner of the gate to create an opening for yourself. As you
escape a checkpoint blocks your path. Head into the barrels
like you did just now to continue escaping. Keep driving and
another checkpoint blocks your path. This time shoot all of the
guards as quickly as possible to clear the path. As you
continue Liquid comes up behind you in his own jeep. Aim the
machine gun at him and keep shooting. Liquid tries anything he
can to stop you escaping. He will shoot you, ram you from
behind, hit you in the side and try to block your path. At the
end of the tunnel both you and Liquid crash and after another
video sequence you can escape.
