Retro Game Walkthroughs for The Sims (PC Games)
Submitted By: Decoy Octopus
This walkthrough will explain the finer points and a few strategies for this classic game.

Family:
Even a single sim has a chance of starting a family if you really want to.
First of all find a fellow sim of the opposite sex and get them to move in. (this requires marrying them) You will have to do this slowly or you will have no chance. you just have to talk to them. Don't even try to compliment them until you have at least 20 relationship points with them,(they will just take offence).
After about 30-40 relationship points you will be able to give gifts, joke, flirt and give back rubs. mainly joke with them otherwise they will take offence at your moves and you will lose points.
After 50 points you will have made friends this is where you start being romantic slowly at first (just flirting) until you are at 100 (max) points then you will be able to propose ( if they turn it down you will lose a lot of points)
To get the other sim to accept a proposal you need to at least feed them and watch tv with them, or they will say they are too hungry, they have been on their feet or they are in a bad move. If they accept and you are married, keep up the romance i.e kissing, hugging, backrubs, etc. and a message will appear asking if you want to have a child.
Same sex couples that have moved in together can start a family but they need to adopt children which does not happen often.

Career: this is the second most important aspect of the game.
You must work on your career to get the money to buy the really cool items in the game. Get everybody in your house who can have one a job, this is what you must work on when you are not keeping your sims mood up or you have free time. The best way to keep the sims happy is to work one day and have the next off, as working all the time just saps their energy.
This is essential when you have a baby, you need to care for the baby constantly for 3 days before it becomes a child, however if you have 2 days off work you get fired. therefore you need to alternate days with your sims partner you work, they work, you work.
You also need friends that you must spend time with or you will lose them.

Moods: The most important factor in the game
You must keep your sims happy at all times, this means feeding them, washing them, and generally letting them have fun. If this is not kept up it has drastic even fatal but amusing affects. they could starve to death, but an unhappy sim can make the others unhappy and make lots of enemies (resulting in fights in which the losing sim could leave). There is a simple way to keep them happy- buy stuff!!! they prefer it with lots of choice to do as they please but to do this you need to work on your career

Thats all for now I might do other games later though they might not be as complex as this one

SIMS PERSONALITY GUIDE

1. What's Your Sim Sign?
1a. It's In The Stars
1b. Personality Traits
1c. Personality Tables
1 -----INTRO-----

When you are charged with the solemn task of creating a Sim from scratch, you have 25 points to distribute over five traits; Neat, Outgoing, Active, Playful, and Nice, Whether we admit it or not all of us have an inherent wish to be perfectly balanced people (Or Sims). Of course, you can take the easy way out and reward 5 points in every category. creating a generic Sim. You'll spend less time managing a middle-of-the-road Sim because in most situations, he or she will do the right thing. If you'd rather play it safe, just make all your traits the same. If not, read on as I describe the subtle (and sometimes dramatic) outcomes that your personalty ratings will inspire.

----------WHATS YOUR SIM SIGN?----------

1a -----It's In The Stars-----

As you play with the personality bars you'll note the changing zodiac sign that appears on the screen. Of course, a serious astrologer would argue that a true personality profile is based on much more than five traits. However, if you have a basic understanding of newspaper horoscopes, you'll be able to recognize yourself, or someone close to you, as you create a Sim personality. In the next section I'll go through each trait and examine the potential effects of your ratings in various game situations. But first, lets take a look at the basic interpersonal compatibility as seen through the eyes of the zodiac. The following Table gives you the best and worst matchups for friends and lovers. This doesn't neccessarily imply that any other Relationship outside the table is doomed; it just means that you'll have to work harder at it.

Aries Gemini / Taurus Cancer / Libra

Taurus Aries / Virgo Virgo / Cancer

Gemini Pisces / Virgo Capricorn / Aries

Cancer Taurus / Scorpio Gemini / Aries

Virgo Aquarius / Sagittarius Leo / Taurus

Libra Virgo / Cancer Pisces / Scorpio

Scorpio Pisces / Leo Libra / Aquarius

Sagittarius Pisces / Capricorn Libra / Scorpio

Leo Sagittarius / Cancer Capricorn / Gemini

Aquarius Capricorn / Sagittarius Scorpio / Virgo

Pisces Scorpio / Gemini Leo / Aries

1b -----Personality Traits-----

The following section reviews what you can expect from each type of Sim, with examples of how different personality traits will manifest during the game. For my purpose, I'll divide the ratings bars into 3 sections: Low (1-3), Average (4-7), and High (8-10). These numbers correspond to the number of light blue bars to the right of each trait.

NEAT

Low ( 1 - 3 )

Don't expect these Sims to pick up their dirty dishes, wash their hands after using the bathroom, or time timely showers, They are perfectly content to let the others clean up their messes.

Average ( 4 - 7 )

At least these Sims keep themselves relatively clean, and you can depend on them to clean up their own messes. Occasionally they'll even clean up another Sims' garbage, but you might have to intervene if you have several cleanup items that need attention.

High ( 8 - 10 )

A super-neat Sim always checks the vicinity for dirty dishes and old newspapers, and of course, personal hygiene is a big priority. One of these Sims can compensate for 1 or 2 slobs in the household.

OUTGOING

Low ( 1 - 3 )

Shy, reserved, Sims have less pressing needs for Social interaction, so it will be more difficult to pursue friendships with other Sims, although they can still carry on stimulating conversations. Within their own home a shy Sim may be less interested in receiving hugs, kisses, and back rubs, so if you are looking for romance, it would be a good idea to find a compatible match ( See Table )

Average ( 4 - 7 )

I will be a little easier to get this Sim to mix with strangers and enjoy a little intimacy from his housemates. Don't expect a party animal, but you'll be able to entice your guests into most activities.

High ( 8 - 10 )

This Sim needs plenty of soial stimulation to prevent his or her social score from plummeting. You'll have no trouble throwing parties or breaking the ice with just about any personality type.

ACTIVE

Low ( 1 - 3 )

Forget about pumping iron or swimming 100 laps at 5.00AM. Thses Sims Prefer a soft easy chair to a hard workout. A sofa and a good TV are high on their priority list. In fact, if they don't get their daily ration of slobbing their comfort scores will suffer.

Average ( 4 - 7 )

These Sims strike a good balance between relaxing and breaking a sweat. They dance, swim, and even shoot hoops without expressing discomfort.

High ( 8 - 10 )

Active Sims like to pick up their pace rather than fall asleep on the sofa in front of the TV. Get these Sims a pool, basketball hoop, or exercise bench, and plan on dancing the night away with friends.

PLAYFUL

Low ( 1 - 3 )

Get these Sims a bookcase, a comfortable chair and plenty of books. If reading isn't an option, looking at a painting or playing a game of chess will do just fine.

Average ( 4 - 7 )

These well-rounded Sims are usually receptive to a good joke and don't mind a little tickling, They may not be the first ones on the dance flood, but they'll join in with a good crowd.

High ( 8 - 10 )

Can you spell P-A-R-T-Y? These Sims love to have a few drinks, dance to good music, and invite lots of guests over to the house. They love telling jokes, and they are usually ready to laugh at others' stories.

NICE

Low ( 1 - 3 )

There is nothing redeeming about a grouchy Sim. They are always ready to tease or insult their friends, and they love to brag. A sim with a low Nice rating should be dropped from your guest list immediately, or asked to leave if he or she shows up.

Average ( 4 - 7 )

This Sim keeps an even keel about most things. Of all the traits, Nice is the least destructive if you award at least 4 points. Only natiest Sims can get under a medium-Nice Sim's skin.

High ( 8 - 10 )

These Sims just want to make the world a better place for everyone. If there was a Sims beauty contest, the winner would be extremely "Nice".
