(-----This is my levelling up guide for Final Fantasy 10-----)

This is an advanced levelling up guide - for it you will need the
following things:

[Airship]
You must be past Zanarkand and be able to control where the
airship goes

[Weapons with free slots]
These can be found/bought almost anywhere

[Door To Tomorrow]
You will need 10 of these items for EACH character. You can get
them by stealing from Ultima Weapon and are dropped by Bomb Kings in the Monster Arena. You will be given 99 of these items if you manage to capture all of the monsters from 6 areas (ie. Besaid Island, Mt. Gagazet etc.). Once you've captured all these monsters, the man at the Monster Arena will give you 99. They will allow your characters to customise their weapons with the ability 'Overdrive -> AP'. This ability earns you AP instead of increasing your Overdrive gauge.

[Overdrive modes]
Your characters should have the following modes by now, if they
don't you should do some more normal battles to gain them -
Comrade and Stoic.

[Gil]
You will need 8,000 gil per battle. It might sound a lot, but
you can get upwards of 20 Sphere levels per battle. To get a lot
of money, fight and defeat the enemies 'mimic' in the Omega
Ruins. After battle you will get 50,000 gil normally, or 100,000
gil with the Gillionaire ability.

*****OPTIONAL*****

[Megalixer]
You can get these from various chests throughout Spira, but you
can also get 30 of them from the Arena owner by capturing two
Splashers, Achelouses and Maelspikes from the underground
passages in the Mt. Gagazet cavern. You can customise a weapon
with the 'Double AP' ability by using 20 of these.

[Wings to Discovery]
You can get 30 of these by winning the Chocobo race beneath the
Remiem Temple and after battling Shinryu at the monster arena.
50 of these items can let you customise a weapon with the 'Triple
AP' ability which will earn that character three times the amount
of AP after battle.

[Underdog's Secret]
If you collect all 26 Al Bhed Primers, on the Airship Rin will
give you 99 of these items. Alternatively, after battling the
'th'uban' at the Monster Arena you will get 1 of them. You can
use thirty of these items to customise a weapon with the 'Double
Overdrive' ability, which will charge your overdrive gauge at
twice the speed.

[Winning Formula]
If you capture one of every monster in Spira, the Arena owner
will give you 99 of these items. Alternatively, you can bribe a
Sand Worm in the Bikanel area with more than 225,000 gil to gain
15 of the items. You can customise a weapon with the 'Triple
Overdrive' ability with 30 of these items.

*****Levelling-Up Method*****

This can work with any enemy, but in particular you should fight
Don Tonberry at the Monster Arena. To be able to fight Don
Tonberry, you need to catch all of the fiends in the Sunken Cave
area - the place where you get the Yojimba Aeon. Have one of
your fighters set their Overdrive mode to 'Stoic' and the other
two characters to 'Comrade'. Make sure you equip the weapons
with 'Overdrive -> AP' abilities for each character, and any
additional abilities if you want to multiply the amount of AP
earned (see above). Talk to the man at the monster arena and
enter a battle with Don Tonberry. This will cost you 8,000 gil,
but its a small price to pay considering what you can get for
it.

When in the battle, get the character whose overdrive mode is
'stoic' to attack Don Tonberry. Don Tonberry will then
counter-attack with the ferocious 'Karma' attack. This will take
off anywhere between 10,000 and 80,000 HP, killing your
character. Get the other two characters to revive the person who
just got killed, and keep repeating the process of
attacking/dying/reviving. After the battle - either if you kill
Don Tonberry or just Flee - you'll receive AP equivalent to the
damage taken by your Stoic character - a lot.

However, Don Tonberry moves forward on his turn. After four
turns, he'll be right up close to your characters. At this
point, he will stop counter-attacking when you attack him, and on
his turn instead of moving he'll just automatically kill one of
your characters. At this point I'd suggest you flee because Don
Tonberry attacks randomly and consequently it can become
hectic.

This strategy works against every enemy, however most enemies
don't counter-attack and the trick will only work if your Stoic
character gets damaged.

*****Alternative Method*****

You can just enter a battle with a pathetic monster from, say,
Besaid island. Use the formula before, except instead of
attacking the enemy, attack yourself. This way, everybody will
still get AP and the battle is infinite until you decide to end
it. Also, you don't need to pay 8,000 gil per turn. Magic also
works well for this. At least then you needn't worry about being
KO'd by Don Tonberry when you aren't expecting it.

MAG: 255 MAG DEF: 255
AGI: 255 EVA: 255
LUCK: 120+ ACC: 255

Recommended Armour Abilities: Break HP Limit, Ribbon, Auto Phoenix, Auto Haste

Recommended Overdrives: Attack Reels, Blitz Ace

Recommended Abilities: Quick Pocket, Quick Hit, Aim

Recommended Items: Potions, Light Curtains, Underdogs Secrets, Three Stars

*NOTE* If you want to fight them and have no challenge, simply summon Yojimbo and pay him around 1 million Gil. Zanmato will cause instant death.

*NOTE* If in any of the battles you find yourself low on MP, use Three Stars.

3. DARK AEONS

DARK VALEFOR

HP: 800000
AP: 10000/15000
Immunities: All elements half damage
Location: Besaid Village Entrance
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Yuna

Strategy: One perfect Attack Reel should take it down, if not, finish it with Blitz Ace. If it has a full overdrive bar, summon an aeon to block the attack.

DARK IFRIT

HP: 1400000
AP: 20000/30000
Immunities: Absorbs fire, ice half damage, immune to water and thunder.
Location: Bikanel Island, near Home.
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Yuna

Strategy: Once again, a perfect Attack Reel and Blitz Ace should end the battle quickly. If it has a full overdrive bar, summon an aeon to block the attack.

DARK IXION

HP: 120000
AP: 20000/30000
Immunities: Absorbs thunder, half damage water, immune to ice and fire
Location: Thunder Plains
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku/Yuna

1st Fight Strategy: Attack with Blitz Ace and Attack Reels. If it is not dead, repeatedly attack with Quick Hit. Even though its overdrive bar fills up, it will not use it.

Between Fights: Try to build up overdrive bars to full by fighting fiends.

2nd Fight Strategy: Start out by mixing a Light Curtain and an Underdogs Secret for Hyper Mighty Guard. Follow that up with Blitz Ace and Attack Reels. It now uses its overdrive, so switch Rikku for Yuna when full so she can summon an aeon to take the hit. Despite this, Ixion is much easier than in the last fight as it is much slower.

DARK SHIVA

HP: 1100000
AP: 20000/30000
Immunities: Absorbs ice, half damage fire, immune to water and thunder.
Location: Macalania Temple
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku/Yuna

Strategy: Agility of 255 is an absolute must in this fight, otherwise Shiva will kill you before you have chance to attack due to her high speed. Have Rikku start with Hyper Mighty Guard. Then, have each party member use Aim a couple of times, then unleash Blitz Ace and Attack Reels. Watch out for her Heavenly Strike move which causes instant death. Finish her with Quick Hit. Once again, block her overdrives with aeons.

DARK BAHAMUT

HP: 4000000
AP: 30000/40000
Location: Zanarkand Dome (Where Yunalesca was)
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku/Yuna

Strategy: Things start to get a lot more difficult here. Watch out for his overdrive, Mega Flare, as usual, block it with aeons. Another powerful attack he uses is Impulse. Unless you have Ribbon or Stoneproof on your armour you will be petrified. Start with Hyper Mighty Guard. Have Rikku do this every time her overdrive bar fills. Pummel him with Blitz Ace, Attack Reels and Quick Hit.

DARK ANIMA

HP: 8000000
AP: 30000/40000
Immunities: Absorbs all elements
Location: First, head to Mt. Gagazet and redo Wakka’s ball throwing challenge. Once done, go back to the entrance of Mt. Gagazet to find Anima.
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku/Yuna

Strategy: This is going to be a long one. With 8 million HP, Dark Anima is one of the longest battles in the game. Start out with Hyper Mighty Guard. Then use Aim around 4-5 times each. Then use Blitz Ace and Attack Reels. Then use Quick Hit repeatedly on her, stopping only to use the overdrives again. Watch out for her Pain move, which causes instant death. Keep your HP as high as you can as her Mega Graviton causes gravity damage based on your MAX HP, not your current. The biggest threat though is her overdrive Oblivion. It causes massive damage to not just your HP, but also your MP, so summon an Aeon to block it.

DARK YOJIMBO

HP: 1600000
AP: 8000/10000
Location: Head to the back of the Chamber of the Stolen Fayth. He must be fought 5 times and you will encounter him by walking, not teleporting back to the entrance.
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku/Yuna

Strategy: As usual, start with Hyper Mighty Guard and plenty of Aims. Then pummel him with Quick Hits, Blitz Ace and Attack Reels. Watch out for his overdrive which causes instant death despite Auto-Life.

DARK MAGUS SISTERS

DARK MINDY

HP: 2000000
AP: 10000/12000

DARK CINDY

HP: 3000000
AP: 10000/12000

DARK SANDY

HP: 2500000
AP: 10000/12000

Location: Mushroom Rock Road
Party: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku/Yuna

Strategy: This fight is the hardest of the Dark Aeons, however, it can be made a lot easier by running away from the summoners and fighting them one at time. My strategy deals with fighting the three at once.
Start off with Hyper Mighty Guard. Then focus all your attacks on Mindy and pummel her with Blitz Ace, Attack Reels and Quick Hits. Make sure to take out Mindy first, as she has the deadly Passado move. Next, focus on Sandy, and then Cindy. If their overdrive bars get full when they are all still alive, they unleash Delta Attack, which causes instant death. If their bars get full when there are only two or less of them, they will use the much weaker Terra Graviton.

CONGRATUALTIONS, YOU HAVE BEATEN THE DARK AEONS!!!!
