Retro Game Walkthroughs for Mario Kart Double Dash (Gamecube)
Submitted By: Goaty
Mario Kart: Double dash has got a lot of hidden secrets to unlock, And it can be kind of overwhelming to get what you want, so here’s a layout of what to do to get what you want.

The good thing about this game is you can unlock everything with any character you want to use, meaning its easy for you, not like most games where you have to use a set character who may be pants, so to unlock the following secrets, select race mode (please not mirror mode must be unlocked) and a character, then: -

MUSHROOM CUP: 50cc gets you the ‘green fire’, a medium kart.
100cc gets you the rattle ‘buggy’, a light kart.
150cc gets you ‘Luigi’s mansion’ a racing level.
Mirror gets you ‘Toddette Kart’, a light kart.

FLOWER CUP: 50cc gets you the ‘Bloom coach’, a heavy kart
100cc gets you ‘Waluigi kart’, a heavy kart
150cc gets you ‘Turbo birdo’, a light kart
Mirror mode gets you ‘tilt a kart’, a map

STAR CUP: 50cc gets you the ‘Para kart’, a heavy kart
100cc gets you the ‘special cup’ a tournament
150cc gets you the ‘Barrel kart’ a heavy kart
Mirror gets you King boo and Petey Piranha, two characters
It also gets you Piranha pipes, a heavy kart

SPECIAL CUP: 50cc gets you ‘bullet blaster’, a heavy kart
100cc gets you Toad as a character and his light kart
150cc gets you the ‘all cup tour’ the final tournament
Mirror mode gets the ‘Boo pipes’ light kart

ALL CUP TOUR: 50cc get you nothing
100cc again gets you nout
150cc gets you ‘mirror mode’ a race mode
Mirror gets you parade heavy kart

Once you get of these you get a new title menu and you officially have everything. Hope this help.

Hi everybody! Cweek2000 here, to give you another of my walkthroughs! This one is on the excellent ‘Mario Kart: Double Dash!!’ on the Gamecube. Super Mario Kart first appeared on the Super NES a long time ago, and was a huge hit, featuring an excellent two-player mode, with both Race and Battle options. When the N64 was released, Mario Kart 64 came out, and although in four-player mode it had no music (you don’t notice though) it was still four-player, and was one of the best racing games of all time. When the Gameboy Advance was not that old, Mario Kart: Super Circuit was released, and it went back to basics, also including some original tracks. However, you needed a lot of link cables, Gameboy Advances and game cartridges to enjoy a four-player mode. Now, with the Gamecube’s ‘Mario Kart: Double Dash!!’ the racing formula is almost perfect. The difficulty soon gets really tough though, and you have no continues in Grand Prix mode: you go all the way, so you have to race, even if there’s no chance of winning (unless you select ‘Quit’).

The biggest difference in this game compared to the others (besides the fact you can get a game box with red plastic) is that there are two characters in each Kart instead of one. Your weight now depends on the vehicle, which you can only use if your characters both fit. For example, you can’t put Baby Mario and Bowser into a pram. Here are all the characters, their weights, the first game they appeared in and their special abilities:

<>
<>
Baby Mario- (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island) Baby Mario is from a time before the first Mario game, in which he rides Yoshi across an island to rescue his brother.

Baby Luigi- (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island) Baby Luigi was rescued by Baby Mario and Yoshi.

Special Weapon- Chain Chomp: the Chain Chomp attaches its chain to the front of the vehicle and pulls it along, crashing into anything along the way.

<>
Koopa Trooper- (Super Mario Brothers) this is a turtle enemy that loses its shell when attacked.

Koopa Paratrooper- (Super Mario Brothers) this is a red flying version of the normal Koopa.

Special Weapon- Triple Shells: instead of the normal shell, you get three.

<>
Diddy Kong- (Donkey Kong Country) the partner of Donkey Kong.

Special Weapon- Giant Banana: this is a giant banana skin that spits out smaller bananas when run over.

Bowser Jr- (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island) the son of Bowser.

Special Weapon- Spiky Shell: A giant spiny shell that bounces around the track and collides with anyone that gets in its way.

<>
Toad- (Super Mario Brothers) Princess Peach’s mushroom assistant.

Toadette- (Mario Kart: Double Dash) Toad’s wife.

Golden Mushroom- a mushroom you can continuously boost with.

<>
<>
Mario- (Donkey Kong) the star of the game.

Luigi- (Super Mario Brothers) Mario’s younger (but taller) brother.

Special Weapon- Fireballs: these are five fireballs that spread out and hit anything ahead. Mario’s are orange whilst Luigi’s are green.

<>
Yoshi- (Super Mario World) Mario’s long-tongued dinosaur friend.

Birdo- (Super Mario Brothers 2) The egg-shooting pink dinosaur.

Special Weapon- Egg: throw this and it’ll home in on enemies like a red shell, then explode and reveal three items, some good and some bad.

<>
Peach- (Super Mario Brothers) The princess that Mario has been trying to rescue from Bowser for ages.

Daisy- (Super Mario Land) another princess that is rescued on Mario’s Gameboy game.

Special Weapon: Lucky Hearts- these protect the kart from weapons, and pick up any items that are fired at them.

<>
Waluigi- (Mario Tennis 64) The brother of Wario.

Special Weapon- Bob-omb: a bomb that is thrown, then explodes after a few seconds.

<>
Bowser- (Super Mario Brothers) the evil spiked turtle enemy of Mario.

Special Weapon- Spiky Shell: A giant spiny shell that bounces around the track and collides with anyone that gets in its way.

DK- (Donkey Kong) A huge ape that Mario used to own.

Special Weapon- Giant Banana: this is a giant banana skin that spits out smaller bananas when run over.

Wario- another fat enemy of Mario.

Special Weapon- Bob-omb: a bomb that is thrown, then explodes after a few seconds.

<>
Petey Piranha- (Super Mario Sunshine) a toxic-sludge drooling plant.

King Boo- (Luigi’s Mansion) the king of the ghosts.

Special Weapon- Random: a random weapon of all the other characters.

Use the radar, as it can tell you where enemies are, so you can line up your shots.

In Shine Thief mode, wait until ten seconds left, then grab the shine. As long as you have it at the last second, you’ll win.

Don’t fire a green shell at an ahead wall, as it’ll just bounce back at you.

In battle mode, use a heavy kart for the best chance.

If a heavy character crashes into a light one, it’ll do damage.

Skid into another kart with L or R to steal a balloon.
